Location

Lack of communication between staff resulting in fewer options of Gf items at breakfast than advertised. Food very mediocre . Water came through the ceiling from the room above. Lack of fresh towels and room cleaning.

Spacious quiet room which was nicely decorated. Breakfast was self serviced with lots of choices. Good location near to University.

No issues as bar closed at 11pm. Not sure about noise if there was a function on.

Lovely room, extremely friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast. Good food in the restaurant. Really liked the location and had parking. Will definitely stay again.

Only things I could think was the door to the Roselyn suite stuck which was annoying. Also the shampoo and bodywash was empty in the shower.

Room was a nice size, shower was hot and powerful, breakfast was decent and staff were friendly.

There was a chunk out of bottom of the door in bathroom, car park was awful, managed to park and then got blocked in by 2 cars, had to pay to get a taxi in to town and back. Waited for 25 minutes for a cup of tea and coffee for breakfast.

Near son’s uni house, bars, restaurants, coffee shops. Parking on site, although had to park on neighbouring road as it was drop off weekend and very busy! Comfortable and staff were exceptionally friendly. We were in superior superking room and comfortable with modern shower room.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Bar area is nice and selection of drinks was good. Comfy beds. Free upgrade to the Prince of Wales suite.

Rooms were too warm from around 8am. Bathroom was a bit tired and only had a shower, no bath. Noise from staff outside the room in the morning chatting/moving things around.

I was doing the great north run so wanted a hotel in the local. The Cally was just great apart from the price hike due to the event. I would definitely recommend it for it's proximity, the ambience and the service.

Because everything else was good, I only have a slight gripe. After the run and a long shower I returned to the bar for a beer and something to eat. I ordered pigs in blankets, very nice and roast potatoes and gravy. The spuds were a let down as they seemed to be lunchtimes warm ups. Not pleasant and only just warm. Didn't complain as I didn't feel it warranted it, plus I was too hungry to wait for anything else.

Liked the decor, liked the facilities, liked the bar, food was ok.

It was extremely noisy with the bar downstairs and people sat outside drinking and talking until gone 11.30pm - on a Sunday and a Monday night. The rooms were too hot and winter bedding made it uncomfortable and not being able to open the window due to the noise below, our room was directly above the outside area of the bar.

The location was excellent - nice part of Newcastle - very lively and safe. A free electric car charger was the best thing and not something we expected. We will definitely stay here again just for that. The breakfast was great, and all the staff were super-friendly. 10 stars for all these things.

Well, this is an old-fashioned hotel that could do with quite a bit of TLC. There was a horrid noise every 20 minutes or so (plumbing?) at night, which made sleeping difficult. The bathroom and the room were basic, but fine for a one night stay. The single beds (triple room) were narrow but comfortable enough. The positives definitely outweigh the negatives - very nice people!

Room: really good and spacious. Bathroom v.good. Bed comfy, towels fluffy. Good comfy restaurant as well as c 4 contiguous sports bars with too many noisy screens. Happily sound not intrusive in comfy restaurant area. Staff friendly enuff esp. restaurant staff. Location excellent. West Jesmond has a good vibe: Waitrose, Açai bar, great bakery, Ramen noodles. 10 mins walk to the brilliant Metro network with all its new tube trains and direct lines to coast at Whitley Bay and city centre c 4 stops. Trad student area since the Jurassic Age. So, lots of students living the vida loca........

Cooked breakfast served as a buffet. Sausages looked great but poor filling. Bacon likewise looked good but could have had more taste. Cool stuff fine. A proper coffee machine would have been good. Car park tightish - would have been good to have orientation that it was round the back......instead of guests having to deduce it as no signage.

the bathroom was a little dated compared to the beautiful bedroom. this wasn’t a problem at all for us as it was clean and fine - however the taps were a little old and stiff and dripped even when tightened so could hear in night - but not a huge problem.

The room was a good size for 3 people, close to the freemans hospital. Free parking (although blocked in when left the following morning)

The noise from the opposite bar outside (obviously not the hotels fault) TV ariel was broken in the bedroom resulting in unwatchable TV Mouldy bath mat Mouldy cheese at breakfast

Staff were very friendly. Room size and decor was better than expected.

Parking availability but this was only due to a coach taking several spaces up. Socket next to bed for charging phone or watch would be helpful.

Breakfast was excellent, and served by friendly staff. My room had a small bathroom window with was unfortunately next to what I think was an exhaust outlet for an extraction fan from a kitchen, which somewhat impacted the overall ambience of the room.

Apart from the above, everything else was good.

the care of the staff was superb from the food service to reception assistance and they went above and beyond to make our stay memorable, their assistance was invaluable to our stay.

Had a larger room on the ground floor, but just had chatter and creaky footsteps from staff and guests till 1am, then it all started again before 6am. Waited 40mins for an evening meal, asked the waiter (little guy around 20) when our food was coming. Evidently, he got the hump, so next day, he wouldn't serve us at the bar. What an asshole.

All the staff were so helpful and friendly. When we arrived there was no parking spaces available, so the chef moved his car for us to park. Sonny in the restaurant was brilliant, so hard working and efficient. The rooms were a great size and very clean 👌

I love this hotel. Stayed many times from the cheaper rooms to the exquisite Jesmond Suite.

Through only my fault I travelled with a horrendous migraine and my room was situated at the side of the lift that seems to be noisy when you’re feeling delicate. I’m sure if I’d mentioned it staff would have moved me but that would have meant I’d gone with a migraine 😃

The staff are just amazing, like a family, from cleaners, gardeners maintenance, chef, waiters, waitress and reception staff just fabulous

A little more attention to overall cleanliness would be appreciated ie, bottom of bin in room grubby and shower slip mattt a bit mouldy. Also in having room serviced shower Matt was folded whilst damp even though I’d hung it up to dry. I didn’t complain at time as overall everything was fine for us. One member of the reception team could have been a bit more welcoming, but maybe she was having an off day.

The cleanliness could better in the room (dusting wiping surfaces). Bar service very slow even when only 4 people at the bar and 2 to 3 bartenders. Would be nice by the bartenders to acknowledge the customers presence.
