Location is good
Recent change to parking I.e. charges not flagged at point of booking, received email day before. Stayed many times before but this change will definitely influence booking in future.
It’s a beautiful hotel . We had the presidential suite which had been recently refurbished . Spotless . Staff attentative .

Fantastic location. Great staff
Some construction ongoing
Excellent location. Staff super pro and friendly.
Our room was on the top floor, right underneath the rooftop bar. The music was loud until 1am.
Lovely hotel. Rooms excellent. Amazing location and value for money
Windows well sound proofed but was a little noisey on floor 8 on the train track side. Bareable though
Location and comfort of newly refurbished room
Breakfast is poor ! Why dies a hotel that sets itself as a premium hotel with smart partner restaurants/ bars etc employ a buffet breakfast ? It’s basically cold food and not really enjoyable. £20 for parking !!
Location
It wasn't clean at all, the bath panel was falling off and so was the radiator shelf. The dust in the room was unacceptable and it took nearly an hour just to check in to our room which wasn't great either.
The hotel was nice, with an excellent location. Staff were helpful and friendly.
Really let down on this stay. Stayed here for two nights for a friend’s wedding. On the night before we struggled to sleep because of the noise outside. We thought it was just the main high street and so tried our best to sleep through with the provided earphones. Wasn’t a great start. Next day we realised the problem was in fact that the hotel’s nightclub was directly below our window. The rest of the street was fine! Thumping music again throughout the whole of the second night. Again no sleep. Had to request a room change in the early hours about 3 in the morning. Thankful that the reception staff were accommodating here but the morning staff couldn’t have cared less after we said we spent two nights without sleep in their hotel. Really feels like that particular room should not be rented out on the nights the club is open. Sleep is a minimum requirement, especially in a “luxury hotel”. We’ve since tried raising a formal complaint with the hotel via their advertised email address but I am still yet to receive even acknowledgement of the email, more than 2 weeks down the line.
Not being charged £20 for one nights parking
Very comfortable room, great staff, excellent location, great breakfast.
Great location in city centre. Accommodation is so clean and staff extremely friendly
Would have scored 10/10 but you’ve started charging for onsite parking now. It used to be free to guests. £20 for 24 hrs. So 2 nights is another £40. Otherwise faultless
Close to station, eateries, river and castle.
Nothing.
The location
The rooms are exceptionally hot
Lovely looking hotel, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and very central location
The room we booked was a “castle view” and my partner and I were very disappointed as this “view” was mostly blocked by a bridge with a popular train line so we did not get much of a view and our sleep was not the best due to the passing of a loud train every 10-15 minutes. The room itself however was comfortable, could have been cleaner as there was a few stains on the carpet but nothing major. Overall, fantastic hotel but there are so many better options for better prices in the area.
Work being done outside our room woke us early. Explained to the hotel and they said the workmen shouldn’t have been there (yet they were). An awful experience in the bar the previous night also explained to staff. Have stated previously and this was way below our expectations.
Large room and well decorated.
Everything! The bed so comfy!
You could hear the bar upstairs but apart from that we were able to sleep very well
Great wedding venue
Too many stairs & not enough lifts working
Close to the city centre, and quayside to the point where entering the hotel from the ground floor saves walking up a steep hill from the river.
Nothing really
Great location for the city centre and Quayside. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very smart and comfortable.
Location good
Despite months of notice the hotel had not organised right rooms and did not help with member of our party with mobility problems. Really disappointing
Hotel was central only 5 minutes walk to shops and restaurants. Breakfast was very good staff were pleasant.
Reception staff didn't know there job very disappointed had trouble with door card when talking to lad on Reception he was very unprofessional. 4 star hotel with 1 star staff.
Location
Rooms so basic compared to other hotels in newcastle, no air conditioning, mould and dirt on bathroom tiles, went to close curtain and full curtain pole fell down
Everything about our stay was excellent! Staff, rooms, cleanliness, breakfast & on site facilities!! Exceeded our expectations so much so that we have booked a 3 night stay in December.
Nothing we didn't like
Location
The main restaurant on an evening
Great location - short walk to Newcastle centre or lift to ground floor to Newcastle Quayside. Room - clean comfortable and quiet. Staff - Front of House Staff were pleasant and helpful as were the Staff who serviced the room during our stay. Bars - we used the Redwood Bar during our stay - a very comfortable and charming room. Breakfast had a varied choice and again the breakfast room was very pleasant.
Nothing to fault - we were very well looked after and completely at ease during our stay. Refurbishment work was being carried out to various parts of the hotel including a lift - this did not affect our stay as any work we saw carried out did not have any impact on us as guests. It would appear the refurbishment work will be completed shortly.
Loved staying at the Vermont & would not hesitate to stay again. From the location to the wonderful staff. Breakfast was first class and our room was perfect. We stayed for 2 nights in a standard double room and it had everything we needed. Beautifully furnished too. I would highly recommend this hotel.
I thought the car parking was a little on the high side @ £20 for 24 hours. But liked that we could park right outside the hotel.
Location, clean and modern
The charges for parking (was free when booked)
Room was clean comfortable and great view. All staff were very friendly, professional and efficient.
Room service sandwiches, were stale, only salad was lettuce, VERY expensive £9.50 + £5 for bringing to room. Continually thumping of music from Above bar in evening.
Lovely inside. Room was very clean
The water in bathroom wasn’t hot Enough. Affordable a long day travelling wanted a lovely hit Bath but water wasn’t hot enough. Shower was Ok though . We were celebrating so asked for a double room was Given twin but they did change it, said it was an updated room . I don’t think so. Room Over looked the railway line so was noisey.
Could not get WiFi in my room on the 7th floor (1 floor up from reception).
Die Lage und das Frühstück
Leider sehr dreckige Fenster und ein schrecklicher Geruch im Zimmer der nicht verschwinden wollte. Es war sehr laut abends durch die Partymusik und tagsüber durch die Möwen
Great location very clean good breakfast staff nice and friendly.
Rooftop cocktail bar quite expensive.
Great location. Rooms are very comfortable. Staff are amazing and can't do enough for you.
Window in our room wouldn't shut. Weren't aware of this until the early morning when awoken as it was so loud outside.
Very good location very good service and very good service breakfasts was lovely thanks for all your help enjoyed my time there

The location is perfect. Staff lovely. We didn’t eat there but the menu look great. The roof terrace is a must

Location to city centre
Additional cost for parking not notified until day before arrival 20.00 per night represented nearly 20% increase in costs
It had a really cosy vibe. Great value for money and the staff were lovely. It’s in a great location too.
The hotel is near the railway and it’s very noisy at night.
V good location right next to the castle and short walk from train station . Rooms had been recently redecorated with v comfortable beds and quiet air conditioning !
Some of the staff were not the friendliest or the most efficient
Paul was delightfully helpful. Location amazing.
Classic large room in lovely hotel. Great bed and bathroom Lift
Paid parking
Everything, great value for money. We've stayed before and will again in the future.
Very helpful and friendly staff when checking in and especially at breakfast.
It was a fantastic stay, from arriving to leaving we were treat so well, the receptionist Matthew was fantastic, so thoughtful and helpful, explained about breakfast which we quickly added onto our stay when he told us the price. The room was outstanding, so clean, lots of little touches and a fabulous view
Nothing
Location exceptional by the castle & quayside Paul greeted us on arrival checked us in & was so lovely ,friendly & helpful he really made our stay ! Breakfast good & served until 10.30
The people working there were very friendly
No towels in the room on checking in. A writing desk and no chair. Keys stopped working after a couple of days. Disco upstairs did not let you sleep till midnight on friday and saturday. Expensive parking place. This company is after their own profits only.
Great location and staff, stay here once a month
No loyalty programme 😆
Historic, vintage decor
Very noisy. Trains and guests exceptionally loud.
Location
Unbearably hot and noisy. Complained at reception who didn’t do anything and also by email twice since our stay and no reply. Lift out of order to the bar upstairs. We specifically stayed here as we were at an event at the bar upstairs and no prior warning there was no access currently due to ongoing works. Very poor. And to email twice with no acknowledgment. Avoid staying here
property good as always, been going for a number of years.
shocked to pay £20 for parking plus a 20pence service fee???? we were advised by hotel reception we had to pay this even although it appeared we were outside the actual car park. No warning of parking fees by booking.com. always been free at this hotel. videos are available where car was parked.
Location, on site car park

The room was clean and the staff were good when checking
The room was next to a train line and there was a big extractor fan running on the building outside. Due to this I did not get much sleep at all. informed the staff in the morning and they just said we're very sorry.
I have stayed here before and loved it then so decided to come back. Staff are friendly and the hotel is in the perfect location
Location
The fact that my letter of complaint has so far been ignored
Not much tbh
The noise from surrounding area and windows jammed open. Miserable atmosphere. Mediocre bland food, poor coffee at breakfast
Location
Poor customer services The room keys kept on not working Too expansive for drinks. Shower/bath waste was blocked
Great location close to the train station, main sights, riverside and shopping area, overall very comfortable location to explore Newcastle for either leisure or business. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I stayed in a room overlooking the riverside and Tyne Bridge and the panorama over the city was very enjoyable. Overall, a pleasant stay despite the cleanliness of the rooms should be improved.
The hotel is quite outdated and the room I stayed in was well beyond its lifecycle and would need at least soft refurbishment. The general cleanliness and maintenance of the room could be improved. I have never seen so dirty windows and I understand the seagulls problem as well as the train passing close by but in a good quality 4-star hotel it is not appropriate. In the bathroom too the mould around the bathtub should be addressed as not appealing to look at.
Lovely suite (upgrade), friendly and welcoming. Great views from rooftop bar (though it's not easiest to find).
Our room was exceedingly hot when we arrived and you could only open one window so it stayed hot. Luckily there was a fan...
Access to hotel from Above club as that's were we attended a party. Food in the Rewood bar was good but one meal was missing an item and although corrected it was with no apology.
Staff just going through the motions of their roles. Poor customer service except at breakfast when the staff were very friendly and helpful and I managed to get porridge on request. However, overall breakfast was disappointing. No air conditioning on a warm night was not great. I have submitted a formal complaint about a fire alarm fault which triggered several times early hours. Customer service with this was terrible and resulted in 2 calls from reception once the problem was resolved which just disturbed us further.
Close to city centre.
No tissues in bathroom. Empty box left on the side
Convenient spot, staff were lovely, lift made navigation of the steep bank easier. Bed was comfortable.
Key cards failed every single time we left the room, trip to the front desk needed. Only one lift working, not the best hotel if you have a mobility issue. 1 broken window in the room so it couldn't be closed. Have to ask staff to come close the windows. Not great when the hotel is next to the railway and a busy street for nightlife. Faulty fire alarm system started going off during the night. At least we know the fire alarm works.
Location next to the Castle.
The location was perfect. The decor was stunning & comfortable.
There wasn’t much to say that we didn’t like.
The location The staff were very apologetic about the issues, which clearly weren’t their fault, however I do feel we should have been put in a room further away from the noise and also pre warned that the hotel was undergoing renovations.
Very loud music until after midnight on the Sunday night from a party in the rooftop bar. Windows in the room didn’t close. Drain type smell coming from the bathroom. Broken towel rail. Heater didn’t turn off fully in the room. Rooms and facilities are very tired and in need of updating.
We loved the 1930s art decor and the fact the hotel is situated in the mix
Not one single member of staff said Hello ,Good Morning etc apart from the reception staff. Also not happy about paying £50 holding deposit, I have never stayed in a hotel where this is a thing and 5 days later still no refund.
The location was excellent. The room was a good size. There was an iron and a board which was great.
Unfortunately, the wifi didn't work in the room I was in which was a bit annoying. The room was clean overall but dusty on some surfaces.
Brilliant location, within walking distance of the river front. Staff were great, too.
My only comments would be to invest in some fans for the ever-increasing frequency of heatwaves, and include definitive information about parking on your website and in the hotel rooms.
Fab location, lovely clean, comfortable room, great parking facilities!
Went down to the bar, unfortunately no staff and the guy who came off reception after a good 15 minutes was very moody and unfriendly, we only stayed for the one, due to the frosty atmosphere 😔
Location. Really super.
Rooms too hot and stuffy.
we got a room with a view, it was very quiet an well equipped, 2 chairs is a luxury half the time, this had 4
Guinness served straight up was a shock
Location
Needs updating
Good location and parking available in site for a charge.
The rooms are in serious need of an upgrade. They are very old fashioned. The room was extremely warm. There was a private party in the rooftop bar and the music was incredibly loud and went on until after midnight. It would have been more sensible to allocate a room on a lower floor to avoid the noise disturbance as much as possible.
Stayed here many times. This is our favorite Newcastle Hotel. Great location onto the Quayside. om was excellent and well appointed. Staff were fantastic - nothing too much trouble. Highly Recommended.
Couldn't complain about anything. From arrival to departure nothing was too much trouble for the team at the Vermont Hotel. Room was cleaned meticulously by considerate polite and efficient staff members. Breakfast w as also very nice - can't fault our stay.
The staff were excellent. We also had afternoon tea for a hen party and the staff could not do enough. I am a wheelchair user and nothing was too much for them. I would definitely staff again.
A lovely hotel with plenty of seating areas on the ground floor. Room was superb. Staff fantastic.
It delivered on what it promised and made us all feel welcome and close to all the key spots.
Had an old world feel about it; noted it was about to undergo renovations.
Location
Facilities /clubs closed on both nights for private functions and was not informed
Great hotel
Parking Charged
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Pariticularly Holly. The bar area downstairs was relaxed and beautifully decorated and gave high expectations for the hotel.
The bar food was not the standard you would expect in a hotel, the roof top bar was closed (in summer on a beautiful day) and no gluten free options on room service - out of gf pizza bases. But it was the room that was so disappointing. Junior suite that was not any bigger than a standard premier inn room. It needed decorating badly (as did the corridors to the room), no air conditioning and no opening windows and a desk fan. Couple of melted twixes to greet us in the room. The bathroom was functional and clean but needed renovating. As did the whole of 8th floor. Such a shame as we chose it based on the hotel website, above others that were the same price if not cheaper, but would definitely not choose it again.
Room layout good, spacious Staff are attentive and willing to assist. Good breakfast
As the hotel knows its decor is dated There is no safe or complimentary bottled water
The hotel itself is beautiful, very good location and nice big rooms
There was renovation work going on during our stay so we were woken up early every morning. It would have been nice to have been rewarded of this
Roof top bar Rooms nice with stocker mini bar Very clean Polite staff and helpful
Nothing
Nice lounges ,great location and all staff very nice and had good suggestions on where to go and see .
Everything for us was good for us .
The look and how attentive the staff were when my door had malfunctioned
The rooms were a little warm and we struggled to sleep.
The staff are fantastic especially lily in the restaurant and Gareth the concierge
The noise on Saturday night was ridiculous. The room smelt musty. Very dated. Charged us incorrectly for late checkout at £20 instead of £10. Told need to fill a form in for a refund!! Accepted a drink from the bar instead. Very money orientated - £20 a day to park when there are cheap car parks nearby. Lovely Sunday lunch overshadowed by a very rude party of Italians who proceeded to move all the tables around us to accommodate their party. Paid for late checkout but we were woken up at 8am by the workmen hammering above us. No mention of this on the site and no apology from the hotel when they had very few people staying there!
This room was fun. Excellent location in this lively city. The room was nice and quiet. It was clean and very pretty.
Lovely Location perfect to get to where you want to visit in Newcastle staff friendly and welcoming room so clean well worth a visit
Nothing not to like
The staff were so helpful
Nothing
Great location for exploring older Newcastle, Castle, Churches, hidden stair cases, the Quay walk along the Tyne & numerous food & drink options. Easy 8 min walk from train station. Beautiful shared spaces in the bar and breakfast room (Maven room). Lovely Afternoon Tea with unlimited tea/coffee was shared with friends. Nice to see a Gentleman's Tea option too. Good breakfast and service. Second morning was very busy and staff handled it beautifully. Paul was great personally showing us the way down to the Quay from outside the hotel so we would go in the right direction. Yazim on Reception was friendly, professional, polite & great to talk to every time for the whole of our stay. Jim was so great taking us up to see the 'Above' bar before we left Newcastle as it was hired out for a function the previous night so was closed to public. It is beautiful art eco and has amazing views. All of the staff were amazing on the bar, reception & at Afternoon tea as well. Has a gym. Big rooms and comfortable bed. Has a lift that fits an older historical building that works just fine 😊They are doing renovations in the Hotel & anyone who has done a house renovation knows it comes with challenges. They are managing well despite the challenges IMO.
The reception floor is the 6th floor. This caught us out as we didn't notice when we first got in the lift so caused a little confusion at the start of our stay. Improve: Mention this on check in if it is your first stay. No built in air conditioning in the rooms. There was a fan supplied in the room that managed the unexpectedly high June night temperatures okay (with a bit of white noise). The Hotel affiliated venue, Livello, next to the Hotel was hired out on the Saturday Night. However, the music continued till at least 1.30am. This was a bit later than we expected being used to midnight noise curfews in our country. It was a Saturday night though I guess & it is Newcastle 🙂 Just for awareness if you are staying in the weekends. No we didn't complain we decided it was not a deal breaker. For Hotel consideration and guest safety and security: The access doors to Livello from the Hotel should be card access only after 9pm. This prevents any member of the public entering the hotel and accessing any floor & any door.
Terrible service, awful staff attitude. Avoid avoid avoid!!!
The staff.
It was a convenient location for an event we were attending at the Cathedral. The staff were very pleasant and efficient. We were upgraded to a very nice suite. The air conditioning in the Bar and Dinning Room was very welcome
There was no air conditioning in the bedroom. We thought the £20 car parking fee was excessive.
Brilliant location for all the sights in Newcastle
Felt a little tired? But renovations underway.
