Reviewed Sep 15, 2026The hotel was a good location for sight seeing and getting around the city. The reception staff were very helpful and it was nice to get some cake in the afternoon with a drink when we came back. The rooms were basis but ok.
The breakfast was poor quality and the coffee machine didn’t work when I asked the staff they said they were going to look at them after breakfast so there was none available. The selection of breakfast wasn’t great. We didn’t bother to try the evening food.

There were virtually no staff on duty. The room was clean but very basic. No fridge. The inclusive breakfast was satisfactory but dinner was awful. No choice and poor quality ingredients when available as food items ran out due to guests giving themselves over large portions

Opted for half board was disappointed. No choice, meals were luke warm and not freshly prepared. Out of the 4 meals I think 2 came straight out of a tin or a packet. No fish on the menu .

Appalling lighting in bedroom. We arrived in the evening and there wasn’t enough light to unpack our cases. No electrical socket on one side of bed. Dangerous step down on exiting from bathroom. Especially with lack of light.

Marcus and others at reception were engaging, helpful with luggage storage, reserving taxi and suggested places to visit. Breakfast offered good selection; ate dinner 1 of 2 nights which included chicken gyros, soup, variety of salads, breads, etc.
Room was a bit dark; couple lightbulbs needed to be replaced. Morning we left a large tour bus blocked entire covered entrance area; walked in heavy rain to load taxi. Encountered one person at reception less helpful.

Das Hotel wirkt etwas heruntergekommen (abgelaufene Teppiche, dreckige Wände, zerkratzte Türen). Nur eine (sehr langsame!) Kaffeemaschine, wir mussten beim Frühstück viel zu lange anstehen. Das Dinnerbuffet bestand aus nur drei Salaten, etwas Schinken, Butter und Brot.

Reviewed Aug 24, 2026The hotel is centrally located at the edge of the historic Bryggen district of Bergen. The hotel offers not only a breakfast buffet, but also a light dinner buffet in the evening. The evening buffet was just right for us, having just arrived in the late afternoon from an international flight. We used the inexpensive light rail from the airport and that required about a six block walk to the hotel. The hotel is also just a short distance to the cruise ship terminals, and used by Hurtigruten with a representative available for assistance.
During our stay there were groups booked into the hotel and when those groups swarmed the buffets the selections were quickly picked over, and it took some time for the hotel staff to replenish. With a little patience the food selections would be restored.

Reviewed Aug 19, 2026The hotel is quite beautiful and our room was absolutely enormous and charming. The main bed in the room was very comfortable. The hotel location was excellent, the staff was very friendly and we appreciated them packing up our breakfast for us for our early departure.
The sofa bed for our son was even more uncomfortable than sofa beds usually are - it was surprisingly bad, almost unusable. If you'll be using the sofa bed, we would just recommend checking it out early enough in the evening to do something about it if it's as bad as our was, unfortunately.

Wel wat lawaaierig aan de voorkant. Vooral in de weekends maar daar waren we al voor gewaarschuwd via de revieuws. Noren houden erg veel van zout, met name in de soep (halfpension). Wees gewaarschuwd 😉
