Reviewed Aug 31, 2026The cottage is even better in person than in the photos! Super cute and delivers on the cabin vibes. It was also really comfortable, with lots of blankets, a fireplace, and comfy beds. It's a short walk to the main strip with coffee and food and the VIEWS! They are stunning.

Had a great time just hanging out in the living room or on the porch staring at the lake, or stepping out at nighttime to watch the stars. The kitchen was well equipped so we were able to make dinner. Walkable from the town center, which was nice as we didn't have a car. Cottage was a good size for our family of three (including adult son).
We stayed in the summer so it was fine, but I think the place might be a bit cold if you stayed during the winter months as there's no central heating.

The edge of the front lawn is the starting point for one of the most beautiful short walks you can do. Stargazing was amazing from the property. There was no need to goto the Good Shepard church

Reviewed Apr 22, 2025We absolutely loved our stay! The cottage is beautiful and close enough to town that you can easily walk there. It’s very well equipped and had everything we needed. The charming "old" style of the cottage made it feel just like home, we loved it! The view from the cottage is wonderful, and we really enjoyed reading on the deck. There's also a pathway right next to the property that leads to a lovely hike.

No privacy as random hikers could just walk into the garden (we experienced a few during our stay), and doors inside the house dont have locks. Not able to find sponge to wash dishes and the sink clogs easily because there isn't a filter.

The bedroom pillows are really not comfortable, the kitchen items weren't clean. The whole house has really outdated equipment and the washing machine didn't have detergent and heating not good. It's not as expected.

Reviewed Aug 15, 2024Beautiful cottage with amazing views towards the lake. We had been very lucky with a fresh dump of snow a few days prior which made the experience even more magical. The cottage itself was lovely and warm; our hosts had ensured there was plenty firewood and kindling to keep us going for our stay. The kitchen itself was also well stocked with basic cooking ingredients and kitchenware; we were able to enjoy fresh pancakes on the first morning and soak up the wonderful view from the breakfast table. We would love to stay here again.

Reviewed Jun 15, 2024Fantastic cottage stay in Te Anau. Nice and charming interiors with a rustic look. Wooden interiors with all the facilities and amenities you need including a fully functional fireplace furnace! The hosts were very helpful and responsive even from afar to answer any queries.
Location is a little secluded and security may be a tad iffy especially at night with children. Be aware of the large unfenced chasm right outside the garden down to the riverbed especially with young children at night.

Super comfortable bedding, amazing fireplace, well stocked reto kitchen, wonderful shower pressure. Large smart TV, books, games.... everything needed for an amazing and relaxing family holiday. Highly recommended. Photos don't do it justice! Exceeded expectations.

Very nice veranda to chill and enjoy the view on the lake. Close to the lake and you can start making tracks from the cottage. The shower is very good. If we return this will be the place to book.
