There is no elevator
Location
Aircon not really working. Room remained very hot. No lift (difficult with heavy luggage )
Posizione e colazione
Everything about this place is great
Nothing
Location.
Room was in basement and had paid a lot
Gute Lage, Frühstück war durchschnittlich
Enge Treppen, kein Fahrstuhl
hotel 3 star not 4 no elevator so take your bags up with starecase room for breakfast to small not every guest has a table or chair to sit on, you need to eat your breakfast in the lobby
3 night stay here from Monday 22/6. Decent location with 5 min walk to St Catherine street. Our room was adequate, however bathroom was small and shower was in the bath. Beds were clean and comfy. Carpet looked like it had been down since hotel was built. Floorboards creaked throughout the room, and the room above also suffered the same fate, going by the noise when people walked about. Electrics worked but looked like an upgrade and rewire were overdue. Personally I found the breakfast poor, but if you like continental breakfast’s you’ll be ok. We also had to ask for tables to be cleaned and more cups on a few occasions. No lifts so be prepared to carry your luggage to your room. There is a porter available, but you may have to wait a while. We found most of the staff ok, however the woman who checked us in was anything but welcoming. She had great pleasure in telling us check in wasn’t until 15:00, but checked and our room was available. However the couple checking in immediately in front of us, were not given the check in time, but told straight away their room was available. If you like creaky, old authentic French style this is your hotel.
Great location, typical friendly hotel. What makes it really great is the great customer service, from valet to front desk. Marina is simply amazing while juggling multitask and helping several guests, she manages to help and assist with total satisfaction. Other were very helpful as well. Marina was simply outstanding. Staff of the Chateau Versailles makes your stay really enjoyable From valet, housekeeping to front desk, simply great teams.
Great location close to metro station. Cute breakfast room. Comfortable bed. Great room, but noisy.
Our room was next to the kitchen and very noisy starting early in the morning. Earplugs help. Breakfast was very basic.
It was the worst night. It felt like a sauna in the room . you couldn’t breathe.
Great location, great antiquated luxury vibe. Comfortable.
No complaints
Location is really good! Breakfast is very simple.
The hair dryer did not work, and nobody was able to assist me when I requested help. Also, the furnace is a bit noisy
During our stay my wife sustained an injury at the front door of the hotel. She tripped over the raised threshold and fell headfirst onto the metal grate in the lobby injuring her chest and cutting her finger The receptionist responded immediately, bringing tissues and a first aid kit. There are no signs on either side of the door to warn residents of a trip hazard; the exterior upright of the threshold step is marked by black and yellow tape, but there is no tape on the interior upper surface, meaning there is absolutely nothing to warn someone leaving the building of a step down. Staff requests for warning signs had been ignored. I think that her accident was preventable with adequate signage, and that other guests are currently at risk. An internal staircase is risky for children and a fire hazard. Access to handrails on the external stairs was hampered by planters and canopy support, which has changed since the Tripadvisor photo. There were several problems in the breakfast room; Supplies of coffee, milk, teabags, food items and cutlery ran out, and were only replaced on request. Croissants and jam were poor quality. There was no decaf coffee despite asking. No highchairs available for children. Milk was sometimes served unchilled in an unwieldy cardboard container. Our room had creaky floorboards, faulty curtains and only one chair. There was no stopper in the hand wash basin. Paint was flaking off the shower cubicle ceiling. The floor tiles in the en-suite were loose and cracked, exposing sharp edges on which my wife cut her toe. Our room door was fitted with non-functioning hinge-type door closers. On the landing next to our room was a descending staircase without fire doors top or bottom, and an unguarded ledge from which a child could easily fall.So not child friendly and dangerous for seniors.
They charge my credit card at the check in with 50 $ as deposit. After that I know they charge the room rate anther time . I already paid the room rate 3 days before arriving And they don’t return the deposit until now
Great classic, old room with modern updates. Excellent breakfast.
No hot water in the shower in the morning. I told them about it at the front desk at checkout and they didn’t seem surprised.
Nice view out the window
The tap was leaky The road noise interrupted my sleep There wasn't any glassware with breakfast - only unpleasant disposable cups were provided The room was tiny
This hotel is very simple, clean, nice location. Hotel has lots of stairs. Not wheelchair accessible. Breakfast complimentary. Boiled eggs, ham, yogurt, cereal, pastry, canned fruit cocktail, coffee, juices. Beds and pillows were comfortable. Fan provided in room. Complimentary nespresso coffee pods in rooms, fridge. Water pressure, tap hard to regulate temperature/ flow of water in shower. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash in refillable containers in shower. 2/3 were left empty. Blackout curtains in rooms. On main road, access to bus. Close to mcgill university.
A good location to walk downtown. Was clean and tidy, beds comfortable.
Was really warm and the aircon wasn’t that effective. An older hotel, bit dated and quirky.
Located close to McGill and Westmount, this is an Intimate boutique hotel that feels as if you are in Paris. Rooms are generous and comfortable. Staff is friendly and helpful and the experience includes breakfast which while not extravagant, is enough to get you going on your day! This site has no elevators so be prepared to walk to upstairs to your room. Location is perfect-a short walk to Crescent street and St Catherine’s and close to some beautiful drives to Mount Royal Park, Westmount and Mount Royal. If you want a cozy vibe away from the hustle of Old Montreal , in a classy neighbourhood, consider this option!
Beautiful building and lovely room
Breakfast was basic but good.
I wasn’t aware that there were no lifts and we had to carry our bags up a lot of stairs.

Only thing I liked about this place was location and free breakfast
Extremely Disappointing Stay – Not a 4-Star Experience We stayed at Château Versailles in downtown Montreal for our anniversary, combining it with a work trip, and unfortunately, the experience was incredibly disappointing from start to finish. I had made a note on Booking.com and also called two days in advance to confirm our reservation, request early check-in, and ensure everything was in order since it was a special occasion. Despite this, the room we were promised was not available, and the one we were given was in terrible condition. It took over 40 minutes for the room to be cleaned, and even after that, it was unacceptable. There was hair on the toilet, stained towels, and the carpets were visibly dirty. Paint was chipping from the walls, the caulking around the sink was separating, and the ceiling above the bathtub was peeling—not what you expect from a hotel marketed as a 4-star boutique. What made it worse was how poorly our anniversary was acknowledged. We received “amenities” well after we checked in: two chocolates and a San Pellegrino—with no thoughtfulness or presentation. It felt like a last-minute afterthought, not a gesture to celebrate an important milestone. We also brought our small pup, and honestly, the hotel didn’t feel safe or secure enough to leave him alone for even a few minutes. The overall vibe was off, and we felt more stressed than relaxed during our stay. While I appreciated the vintage architecture and old charm, the execution fell flat. The room was basic, uninspired, and nowhere near the standard of a 4-star hotel. It was not clean, not welcoming, and not worth the price. We were incredibly let down, especially on what was supposed to be a special trip. Would not recommend.
The staff, the front desk to the car valet, were pleasant, professional and super helpful. The room was clean, quiet and had everything we needed for a long weekend. The car valet price was more than reasonable and convenient. Complimentary breakfast was very nice and delicious coffee.
We were bummed that no city maps were available, yet it happens! No elevator, yet again...not a problem for us.
Having lived in Montreal just up the street from this hotel many yrs ago, I am familiar with the neighbourhood. Room rate was decent for a relatively large room with sitting area. Compared to a few other hotels on Sherbrooke (e.g. The Sofitel at Peel St.), this was a bargain. The Nespresso machine in the room was a surprise. Receptionist was very helpful in recommending some local bookstores. Also, the hotel's location is perfect -- near grocery stores and pharmacies, for snacks and other essentials during my 3-n stay. Departure for airport was smooth, as they booked a taxi in advance, and even had a staff member from their partner hotel across the street come over to help carry my bags to the curbside taxi right at the entrance. The downsides: First, the carpeting in the room was dirty. Stain spots everywhere. Bathroom was clean but small. Second, sound insulation was poor. I stayed during the World Series, and I could hear the folks next door chatting -- not cheering, but normal-level conversations. Bad. Third, the free breakfast had limited choices. Finally, the steps from the street to the hotel entrance are downright risky, watch your step and use the handrail going down!! I'm not sure whether there was a lift inside the hotel, as I only took the stairs to the second floor. Something to consider if one has mobility issues. Overall, there was a tired feeling to the entire hotel, a bit like a time capsule back to the 1980s. But given the price and location, I would recommend this hotel if you can tolerate the caveats described above.
Good location. Friendly, helpful staff. Charming. Decent breakfast.
No elevator
Ottima posizione, grande stanza e buon rapporto prezzo rispetto altri alberghi in zona.
Mancanza di ascensore, e colazione scarsa con sole 3 cose da mangiare.
Great location uniquely positioned on the border of two cool neighbourhood’s as well as residential and commercial areas; available and engaging staff, happy to accommodate a generous request for late check out and swiftly address anything else with the room. Room was very spacious. Free nighttime street parking nearby, and a 15min parking zone in front for packing/unpacking the car.
Not clean under toilet seat, terrible sound insulation between rooms, surfaces are very rough around the edges, in need of updates and replacements (bath towel frayed, walls dented, paint pealing). Disjointed communications via Booking.com messaging service; the hotel needs to do a better job ensuring staff follow up with client requests, even if it was someone from another work shift that may have started the conversation. There was a small and relatively minor water leak from the toilet’s reservoir, quickly addressed by staff.
Clean room
Clean room. Staff friendly.
Friendly and helpful staff. Nice size room with a great shower and big sunny windows. Centrally located. Unique, charming and characteristic hotel that has history you can see in every detail.
Cute boutique hotel!
Old hose feel. Didn’t like the stairs
Older heritage building renovated many years ago to be a hotel. NO elevators, stairs can be difficult with luggage, especially for seniors. Breakfast was included but very average almost bland.
Convenient to Musee des beaux arts, shops and dining on Maisonneuve, comfortable room with appealing decor. Breakfast buffet-not impressed with paper cups, lack of attention to refilling coffee carafe, and overall selection just ok. Similar hotels I’ve stayed at in Montreal far surpass what was offered.
Las escaleras son muy incomodas
Not much shopping options
Welcoming front desk staff and cheerful valet parking. The central location and small scale of the hotel were appreciated. Very clean room, comfortable bed and convenient room furnishings (chairs, bedside tables and lights with charge points). My only comment is that it feels the carpets in the room and hallways need a deep carpet shampoo cleaning.
Big room and clean, but a little on the noisy side because it faced Sherbrooke. Don't know about the rooms at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was good but the room was too small for the amount of guests trying to have breakfast. Location was great! Close to Mont Royal Park and walking distance to St. Catherines street. Overall good experience.
This hotel was adequate for our two night stay. Staff was friendly. The hotel listing mentioned it had valet parking. Which I interpreted as it had regular parking as well. I was wrong. And valet is the only option for an additional charge per night. Other than that we enjoyed our stay at chateau Versailles. Also would give the continental breakfast a 2 out 5 star. I would recommend looking for a cafe near by, there are a few good ones in the area if you don’t mind walking a bit. And did not provide a bottle of water in hotel room but had lemon water in the lobby which was nice.
Very nice hotel
Easy to walk places, comfortable bed, clean room and the breakfast was ok, had the basics.
The staff was so kind and helpful. The hotel had some charm and we loved the deluxe king suite. It's in a great location walking distance to downtown and other shops and restaurants in the golden mile area. Would stay here again!
Our stay suited us well and we had what we needed. The room was a ddecent size and clean. Breakfast is a strange set-up and there were a lot of guests in a relatively small space - it may be that everyone came at the same time, but it was a bit manic. The staff were helpful. The location is on the edge of downtown, and kinda far from the old town - but fine if you like walking. Very convenient for Mt Royal.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Chateau Versailles. Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and helpful and the hotel is located close to transportation, shops & restaurants.
Okay. Poor breakfast
Location is best
Beautiful hotel and staff was nice. No valet parking-traveling with elderly people was a nightmare. Trying to find parking was difficult and navigating all the stairs was not ideal.
Really enjoyed the stay - only two bites Water in shower didn't get beyond warm and room proximity to kitchen noisy while breakfast prepared (which was yummy!)
A beautiful property.
1. Two rooms booked, only the first room got the Expedia rate. Second one more expensive 2. Put us in the basement, told that is all they had. Expedia had more rooms at the same property 3. Water leak in the bathroom. 4. Inconsistent customer service experience between staff. Some fantastic, others not 5. Good central location north of the downtown. 6. $40/day for parking is extortion and not listed on Expedia. Call the property before booking.
Very historic building. Pleasant. Nice breakfast
Like: Helpful staff, convenient location, good rates Dislike: old facilities, booked a low rate room with very small space and has a poor window openings at an underground floor (best to select higher price room, but that will defeat this lower rate option). Average breakfast but so crowded with all guests in a small room.
Staff was friendly, AC does not work, had to open windows to get some fresh air. No elevators. Carpet in room is stained. Fridge doesn’t work very well, not very cold. Nespresso in room, very nice. Nice personalized touch with VIP service.
Great hotel, has a lot of character. Very clean and beds were comfortable. Great location. Loved this hotel.
The room was clean but quite small & we only got a fridge after asking for it.
All good.
Staff was nice and friendly. Breakfast is adequate for those who have different dietary needs.
Chateau Versailles Hotel may have been a gem at a point with all their awards from 10+ years ago, but don’t get fooled by the photos, as even their deluxe king room with fire place is not as it used to be. (Photos probably taken many years ago). From check in the room was fairly dirty, a lot to stains, and the smell was not clean. I had raised the concern and requested another room but was told everything was full at both their hotels for the duration of my 4 night stay and the front staff didn’t give much care for my concern for the rooms cleanliness. There was a small nespresso machine which I enjoyed and the breakfast did the job, otherwise it was fairly disappointing. The room is trying to keep a Montreal classic look in some ways, but with a mostly renovated bathroom, a large tv and a nespresso, it seems like they can’t choose between a modern contemporary look or preserve its original roots with having old beat up stained carpet, furniture, walls and a thermostat that’s wired backwards with “sharpie” to indicate to use it in reverse (still never really figured out either thermostat in the small room). I will also note the bathroom door frame is very small to fit through, as a 5’10” man, I can’t imagine for anyone with a bigger frame than I to safely fit through the doorway. Coincidentally I ended up breaking my toe while entering my small room washroom, as the door couldn’t even open all the way in the washroom, so my foot caught the door itself. After breaking my toe,
Property was clean, good service from staff, close to transportation, and good dining options. The only issue I faced was that there were no elevators and my room was on the fourth floor. This information should have been made available at the time of booking. The hotel did bring my baggage to the room.
The room location was very strange, behind the breakfast room so i heard dishes clanging early in the am. And the breakfast was bad. No butter?? Anyway overall strange place. I won’t be back
it's good place and just the bathroom is not as clean. busy place hard to park
Location and service were good, especially a gentleman named Robert who’s worked for Cateau Versailles and Senshotel for over 30 years. He was exceptionally helpful, friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. Room service and maintenance were great and immediate. Unfortunately no elevators for physically challenged visitors and continental breakfast was mediocre at best. We had a couple of cockroaches enter our room.
Toilet in bathroom too close to the wall - awkward.
Great!
Property is a little outside the city center, but still very walkable.
Staff at the main desk were super kind and helpful.
Checked in and checked out 30 minutes later. If you wanted to stay in a small, very creepy hotel, this is the place for you. We left soon after checking in at 11:30pm and a 7 hour drive. As tired as we were, we weren't even going to spend a night. We left and rented a room at another hotel without even knowing if we would get our money back. The hotel did refund us for 2 days out of the 3. The hotel was like a scene from a horror movie.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent dining recommendations.
Excellent location and condition of rooms.
In the hotel listening, it shows a laundry facility in the amenities, and that was one of the reasons that I booked this hotel. However there was no onsite laundry facility at all. We had to do our laundry in a nearby Laundromat.
Charming vintage hotel, central location, helpful staff
If you are not able to do stairs, please note that even the entrance is a full flight of stairs from the street, there is no elevator, but staff is very helpful with luggage
-
Beautiful hotel. Easy walk to art museums and hop on hop off bus. About a 40 minute walk to Notre Dame and Old Port. Small but adequate breakfast buffet. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
When I looked at the advertisement of your hotel, I was also interested in many beautiful pictures, but when I checked in, I could not believe what you said on the website, it was completely wrong. The bedroom smelled musty, and the carpet was so dirty that I wanted to move to another room. And when I was changed to another room, it was the same. The smell of the carpet made me unable to breathe, so I had to walk outside until late at night, so tired that I went to the hotel to sleep and forget the unpleasant smells of the hotel. I was really dissatisfied and luckily for me, I only had 1 night at this hotel.
Isolation of the rooms are terrible. You hear everyone in the morning. Staff is very loudy. I woke up every morning at 8 because of the sound they make. A lot of insects in the room. It was disgusting,
It was a lovely place to stay.
Beautiful, building with friendly, helpfull staff. Great price!
excellent walkable location to Fine Arts Museum, many dining options, clubs, shopping and close to the great Montreal Botanical Garden by car. a cheaper option to valet parking was also available offsite in good proximity. room cleaning a problematic with getting sufficient bathroom supplies, but the cleaning was adequate.
Breakfast was boring, but the staff are polite and responsive. The room was spacious, quiet, comfortable.
Overall was good experience specially for the location. The hotel was clean and acceptable . The breakfast was poor in variety and quality! Cold boil egg ham cheese, plain bagels ... No fruit at all even apple or banana which is popular in other hotels
The first impression was great! Love the old style and feel. No elevator wasn't so great, but... A large room lower level. Noisy neighbors above and some outdoor noise but it could have been worse. Good breakfast that was included. Friendly, helpful staff.
Large room - 2 queen beds. Comfy beds. No view as our room backed onto laneway of homes. AC did not work well even though we asked for staff to come look into it. Staff was friendly and even shared free parking options in the area instead of paying for Valet. Good breakfast. Rooms/hotel is older and a bit run down.
We loved our stay here. We walked absolutely everywhere.. The staff were so friendly and helpful.. The room was very large and beautiful.
Our room was small, overlooking the front of the hotel on a busy street. Nowhere to put 2 suitcases so I ended up with mine in the small closet. The air conditioner was very noisy and the room was stuffy without it on. No bathroom fan. The bathroom is small, tub grout needs to be replaced. Old, tired carpet. No decaf or tea in the room. The breakfast was not great - no decaf coffee, no gluten free options, no fresh fruit. Two positives: the bed was very comfortable and the staff were great!
L’emplacement ,le personnel
Les escaliers et la chambre au sous sol, pas toujours de la place au p’tit déjeuner…
Don’t listen to the bad reviews. The people and the staff were great to meet and so were the rooms. Don’t listen to the bad comments this place is great!!!! Definitely will be back. 10/10
Nice property. We had a room with city view, really nice. We recommend it
Unique insomuch as there is no elevator and a lot of stairs.
Only issue with us is no elevators. Bad for those with legs problems. But nice clean hotel!
