Excellent breakfast
We had a delightful stay at this B&B: the Wakelins are lovely people, who welcomed us — the next morning, we had an engaging and wide-ranging conversation with our hosts and the other guest, over a delicious breakfast. My husband is a vegan, and Sue provided him with a dish she'd prepared with that in mind, and which he really enjoyed. I feasted on an omelette, and strawberries fresh from the market that morning. We had no room for the muffins, but I'm sure they were delicious, too! From the booking to the au revoir, our hosts' communication was first-rate: they were super-accommodating about everything, beforehand and during our stay, offering options and helpful info, and asking all the good detail questions to make sure our stay was just right. On the second floor of the cottage, there are two bedrooms available, and a bathroom (with shower) shared by those occupying the two rooms. We slept in Queen Room One, which included a pretty and very comfortable bed, and a comfy chair and ottoman by the window. Guests could also relax in the front room on the ground floor. The cottage is on a very quiet side-street, an easy walk from the city centre. If you can manage three low steps to get into the house, and a flight of stairs to reach your bedroom, this is a great place to stay.
Excellent
No TV in the room
What did we like about the property? Everything. The host couple are wonderful. The street it is on, close to the Festival playhouses, yet quiet. Heavenly and fun.
Nothing not to like.
The amazing homemade food
Can't think of anything
Wonderful hosts, comfy bed, lots of storage space in the bedroom, nice armchair to sit on and read, glasses and water provided for bedroom side table, big shower with easy access, delicious breakfasts, quiet neighbourhood.
Distance to the main street was a comfortable walk in good weather, but far in heavy humidity and rain.
Great Staff. Easy walking to downtown. Easy parking. Excellent Breakfast. Susan and Al are amazing to speak with.
The landlady was friendly and helpful. She was informative. The place was clean and comfortable.
The breakfast could be improved, especially the omelet could be better cooked. The constant bombardment of words from the landlord during breakfast made us feel like being fired at by a machine gun. Consequently, the 30 to 35 minutes of breakfast became almost a torture.
Delightful hosts -- they offered us a ride and an umbrella; they prepared a delicious and filling breakfast; they introduced us to the other guests and made sure everyone was included in the conversation. Excellent location -- in a quiet neighbourhood but within 10-15 minutes' walk to downtown. Comfortable room
No concerns
Great hosts couple. They are so wonderful. Plus great breakfast and great house.
Nothing!
Nice place very close (walking distance) to town; coming and going on ur own schedule was easy, wonderful breakfast
Hosts were wonderful and created welcoming and comforting environment. We enjoyed the communal breakfast and meeting the others staying there.
The breakfast and conversation were incredible. The owners are very kind and made sure we had all we needed during our stay. The cottage is walking distance from the main street and made for an excellent weekend get away.
I only wish there was a lock on the bedroom door!
We liked everything and are very happy with our stay.
I cannot say enough about how Al & Sue went above & beyond to accommodate us! Originally, my adult son & I were to share the room. Sue secured a cot for him, and set it up before our arrival. Then, 30 mins before we arrived, My daughter called in a panic, because the venue they were to stay at the night before their wedding, refused to allow my 3 yr old grandson on the premises. Apparently they had a no children policy which hadn't been properly communicated to my daughter and her fiance. I spoke with Al & Sue, to ask if I could keep my grandson there, and they immediately said yes, "we love littles!" My grandson behaved very well, & Al went out of his way to entertain him. They are EXCELLENT and we felt like family, there. P.S. the accommodations are gorgeous and the bed was better than my own at home!

Great hosts, comfy bed and yummy breakfast!
Al and Sue were gracious hosts, and so interesting to talk with!! We plan to return. The rooms were great. The hot tub and garden were an added bonus
The breakfast was amazing, with lots of options, in a very homy but classy environment.
There is no thing I did not like: the house has great character, the hosts were warm and approachable, they even let me use the parking over the checking out time.
Second time here, an obvious choice to return when available - lovely room, great breakfast, very friendly and knowledgeable hosts.
Anything to say would have been nitpicking at this price point and location.
Friendly hosts, good coffee, spacious rooms
The breakfast was delicious. Everything was cooked to order. The hostess, Sue, gave us some muffins for the trip home. The room was very clean. Parking was great! Our stay was excellent!
Hosts were amazing
We like an ensuite and didn’t check that before booking
Great location
The property is impeccably clean, tidy and maintained. Everything is also very pretty. The upstairs bathroom is shared between the two rooms and has everything you need. Sue and Al are great hosts. Breakfast was delicious. It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the Patterson theater and 5 minutes more to the festival theater. The walk is very pleasant through the neighborhood and along the river. We would certainly stay there again and can highly recommend it.
Host very knowing about theatre generally and Stratford offerings in particular.
This bnb is in a beautiful area of Stratford. The homes are lovely, the streets quiet, and it is a comfortable walk to the core. The owners are delightful and very accommodating.
Lovely B&B. Friendly hosts. Delicious breakfast. Easy walking distance to city centre and theatres. Highly recommended.
Great location easily within walking distance of downtown. The owners are fantastic, as are the amenities. We will be back.
Sue and Al are wonderful hosts. Breakfast was delicious and the conversation was charming. They gave us great info on the town and we had a relaxing stay
Spacious bedroom next to very clean shared bathroom. Delicious home made breakfast and wonderful conversation with the hosts. Parked onsite and walked into town to enjoy the shops, restaurants, theatre and scenic walk along the river.
We have stayed here twice before and will happily return and recommend it to others. Supper hosts. Great breakfasts, comfortable rooms.
The only thing is having to share the bathroom, minor downside.
This little B&B was the perfect little stop over while enjoying the theatre and shops of Stratford. The owners go above and beyond and the home and rooms are absolutely charming. Running late after a much longer than expected drive, we were graciously given a ride to our dinner reservation despite the short walk so we could arrive on time. Breakfast was delicious with homemade banana muffins and a beautiful spread of options...not to mention the excellent and stimulating conversation all round :) Very much looking forward to staying again.
Sue and Al were extremely hospitable and welcoming. The location was excellent - easy walk into the town of Stratford which was lovely. Highly recommend for a getaway.
My wife and I took a long weekend to Stratford, and we could not have been more pleased with Sue and Al. The location was wonderful, walking distance to all of the theaters we attended. Sue and Al made a wonderful breakfast each morning and created a welcoming atmosphere. The food was very good, plentiful, and always available. They made sure we had everything we needed, gave us great recommendations, and even allowed us use of their refrigerator.
Our stay was great. Sue and Al are very attentive hosts that go out of their way to make their guests stay outstanding. Breakfast was delicious and the room was very comfortable. We will be back!
This is our second time staying at the Cottage on Caledonia because we absolutely love it! The location is perfect - just a short drive to all the theatres and it is located on a beautiful, quiet street. The rooms are clean and comfortable with little touches to make you feel at home. But the best part of the stay are the hosts, Sue and Al. They are so welcoming and a delight to talk with over a delicious breakfast. We will always try to stay here whenever we visit Stratford.
Owners very friendly and hospitable. Nice location close to shopping and theatres. Nice treed street of well-kept homes.
Charming house, very comfortable and spacious room, delicious healthy breakfast with fresh fruit and home made muffins. Al and Sue were very welcoming, full of conversation, and made me feel like a part of their household for my brief stay. They helped me with places to eat, and even offered to pick me up from the bus drop off point when I arrived. The home was within easy walking distance of the theatres.
Clean and comfortable. Host very friendly. Excellent reakfast.
Lovely B&B and hostess, even if the bathroom was shared with the guests in one other room. 10 to 15 minute walk to downtown Stratford, restaurants, and most theatres. Fine breakfasts.
Location within walking distance of theatre. Breakfast was great. Host was very friendly and welcoming.
Only minor drawback is shared bathroom with another guest room
Very comfortable and peaceful. We look forward to next time
A short walk to the downtown, the Avon and Tom Patterson Theatres. The walk to downtown takes you by the river.
We stayed here one night while attending the Stratford festival. The room was large with plenty of space to move around. There was a large wardrobe that would fit a weeks worth of clothing. There was a cosy chair with an ottoman in the corner in a bright sunny window. The bed was comfortable and had nice linens. The bathroom had a nice big shower and a bench if you needed it. The hosts were charming and the breakfast was great. I would definitely stay here again.
Wonderful B&B with super nice hosts, amazing breakfast and comfortable rooms/beds. I highly recommend staying here
We loved staying here. Al and Susan were delightful. The homemade breakfasts were really special and Al and Susan were both so great to talk to. It is very close to downtown. We parked our car in the driveway and did not need to use it again during our stay as everywhere we wanted to go was walking distance. Our room was comfortable and we slept well. We highly recommend!
Hosts were kind and generous. Room and bath were more than comfortable.
A beautiful house in a marvellous area that makes you feel like home! Thanks, Sue and Al, for your hospitality! Definitely recommend!
All good
Clean , comfortable, quiet and very gracious host . Amazing breakfast and location close to the theater.
The breakfast was delicious and the company was fabulous.
Wonderful hosts, great home cooked breakfast, quiet location walkable to downtown and theatres. Everything clean and comfortable. I highly recommend!
It was charming. The accommodations were perfect for our needs. We enjoyed talking to the hosts. Our stay couldn't have been much better.
We spent a wonderful time. The place is well located. We enjoyed the stay. The breakfast was very nice. Cleaness was excellent. A lot of focus on the small nice details.
Location was excellent for theatre and town. Lovely quiet neighborhood. Delightful hosts who enjoy interacting with their guests. Fabulous breakfast with different feature each day.
very comfortable, excellent location
nothing
Helpful welcoming hosts, who went out of their way to accommodate unusual circumstances. Physical facikities outstanding. The staircase with 17 steps was a personal challenge, but with helping hands, it was tolerable.
Sue and Al are the perfect hosts: gracious, informative, kind, and welcoming. They are real “people” people who enjoy good conversation and making their guests feel at home in their house and community. Their property was clean and attractive in a quiet neighborhood with charming architecture and landscaping. It was convenient for walking to the theatres, shops, parks, and restaurants of Stratford. Highly recommend!
Breakfast was fine. location perfect
Located downtown walking distance to the theatres and restaurants, quiet and relaxing neighbourhood. The breakfast was great and the hosts were welcoming. Room was perfect. Thank you, Sue and Al!
None
Top notch accommodation close to downtown Stratford.
Hosts very very welcoming and friendly. Room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was healthy and delicious. Our only complaint is the bedrooms don’t have locks on the doors
Beautiful, modern home, clean, comfortable bed and cozy bedroom. Excellent breakfast choices.
Lovely venue, great breakfast, very sociable hosts
Very comfy and Sue made you feel so welcome and like at home. Thanks 😊
Very pleasant B&B. Great breakfast, very nice owners!
The breakfast was awesome. And there was a hot tub!
A little expensive
We would give the cottage, at Caledonia five stars. The hosts were lovely, helpful and friendly. The breakfast was excellent and the room and bathroom, spotless and cozy.
Very friendly (if sometimes loquacious) hosts. Excellent location (22 min leisurely walk for active seniors) to the main Festival Theatre. Less than that to a wide variety of restaurants & lical activities.
I love how close it is to downtown. The hostess Sue was very helpful, suggesting restaurants and even trying to make reservations for us (but it was too late in the afternoon on a weekend, but she did try hard). The B and B only rents out two rooms, so it is intimate and quiet.
This is the second time we have stayed here. Excellent experience both times. Hosts were very friendly, knowledgable about the area and ongoing events, and breakfast was delicious. The house was very clean and maintained. We'll definitely be back!
Fabulous hosts, charming home, great location.
Nothing
Hosts were very friendly. Accommodations very nice and very handy to all of the theatres. We highly recommend this B&B.
This beautiful home is a short walk from downtown Stratford, perfect for our couples getaway. Al and Sue were wonderful hosts, letting us arrive early to park in the driveway before the matinee. Comfy queen-size beds and a chic, modern bathroom. Great breakfast included warm, freshly-baked muffins. So much nicer than an Air BnB. This will be our go-to place for theatre trips to Stratford!
Nothing to complain about at all.
Attentive, friendly owners of a beautiful and well-maintained, wonderfully located property. Nothing not to love.
Friendly hosts, good location, reasonable price, cleanliness
No hot breakfast, narrow bathroom (shared), steep stairs harder for older people
Full breakfast. It was lovely as well as the hosts. No bedroom on main floor. Forgot to ask for challenged husband but he made the 17 steps.
Bedroom on main floor
I stayed just for one night and really enjoyed the experience. It was very comfortable, great location and the hosts were excellent.
Everything is perfect 👍
Nothing!
Like renewing an old friendship. It felt like visiting friends I have known for years. Attentive, friendly kind.
Lovely old house in a charming area. Our hosts were lovely and very helpful.
The property was clean and comfortable . It’s walking distance to restaurants and the theaters. We parked our car in the drive and didn’t move it for 2 days. Sue & Al were friendly and attended to us. And of course the breakfasts were great
