parking was a bit hard to find and inconvenient for suitcase dragging lol
Clean, comfortable, roomy suite
We had two bees in the suite. Fortunately we were able to trap and release.
No breakfast Did not realize the inn was just three rooms above storefront
I liked the small kitchenette set up. I liked that the owners were readily available to help. I really liked their restaurant.
The AC was tempermental. During the summer, there is no need for a heavy duvet. A much lighter cover would have been preferable. I liked the super strong ironing board! There must be a box of Kleenex as there is in any other hotel. THE STAIRS!!!!!!!!! Not easy but doable even for me. Good carpeting on them.
Great location — easy to access downtown, restaurants, waterfront, etc.
The parking situation is not well-explained. Not on site — a bit of a trek especially if you are carrying a bigger bag. Hard to navigate based on the instructions to find specific parking spot.
Great location, clean and comfortable
Parking was off-site. The stairs were difficult for seniors (we were all over 80).
Loved the view over the river, beautiful room, right down town.
Nothing comes to mind. I would say if you're mobility impaired the location would be challenging as there are a number of stairs.
Location
Cool property, it has a unique style and fits the area well.
No one was available to answer questions
Great location, comfortable quaint room
TV wasn’t working
Loved the room furnishings and books. Great location.
The bathtub floor is slippery and needs a rubber mat
Amazing location. Big, comfortable accommodations, decorated in a modern way, and overlooking the Avon River from its windows. We loved it.
The air-conditioning seemed a bit weak.
Not an Inn, but a nice self-serve room. Location is great and the place is clean with a nice shower and A/C. Just not what I was expecting from the name and description.
NOT AN INN. I was expecting a quaint Inn experience in Stratford. It's definitely not that. You need access codes to go up a long staircase to a set of 3 rooms with no amenities. My room was absolutely fine and it was quiet.
The room
The steep stairs, the unremarkable entrance door, Hard to find
The TV did not work. There was an error message that the TV did not connect to the internet.
Great location Clean, large room Lots of amenities, coffee maker, kettle, nice products, fridge. Easy to find, easy to get into
Slightly earlier check in would be nice
no breakfast offered
parking was 2 blocks away very steep steps to room
location ideal. a quick walk to everything. very atmospheric room space.
long flight of stairs. my knee didn't like that. shower slow to drain but nt a big deal.
There was no breakfast included. The proximity to the Festival Theatre was satisfying.
The room was small, and the parking was a distance away.
Great location! Walking distance into downtown with lots of restaurants and Stratford Festival theatres nearby. Easy self checkin with free parking. Clean and comfortable, although I would rate it higher if the pillows were a bit thicker. Good wifi. I appreciated the mini fridge and kettle. It would have been nice to have a microwave.
Thin pillows. No microwave.
Beautiful spacious room with view of the water. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. Quiet and comfortable.
Pillows are aging and could be replaced soon.
Location and facilities.
Complimentary bottle of water in the fridge would have been nice. A blue tooth speaker would have been nice especially since it was a music room.
The location was fantastic and the decor/vibe was charming.
The accessibility (tricky stairs, parking distance) was a bit more challenging than anticipated. The bathroom & products were just okay. The biggest issue was that the AC unit beeped intermittently through the night.
Great central location in Stratford with a river view. Room was great and comfortable. Good interaction with the Team on checking in and parking space was useful.
We love coming to Stratford! The hotel is gorgeous and the people managing everything are just too-notch. I wish I could come here more often!
The weather!
The room was very clean and had everything that we needed. The layout was perfect for us especially the two chairs to relax on.
The two things that could be better are that the stairs were steep to maneuver luggage and the washroom was a little small. Neither of these are the fault of management. They can only work with what is there.
Location and room
Nothing - it was my second time staying in the same suite
This inn is lovely! My room was spacious, comfortable, quiet, and adorably decorated. The location was perfect (a short walk to my concert and close to excellent shops, restaurants, bars, and cafes). The owners were incredibly kind and helpful when I'd dropped a dental appliance down the drain. Can't wait to come back!
Property was exactly as advertised....rooms are very clean and well appointed. We booked all 3 rooms for our weekend stay and were happy with each one. There is no on-site staff but the check in process went smoothly and the lock codes for all doors worked well.
As noted on the website, parking is a distance away from the property. In the summer months this would not be an issue but in the winter it does present a bit of a challenge navigating the snowy (when we were there) streets. Also there are A LOT of stairs to get to any of the rooms and (again as noted in the property description) no elevator. This could make the property very difficult to access for some people.
Beautiful room overlooking the river - loads of space, seating options, & comfy bed - & close to everything in downtown Stratford - highly recommended!
Great location….exceptionally clean…good amenities…particularly liked the electric kettle, cream, wineglasses and tea bags. Very quiet even though on a busy road. The advance booking process and info were great.
Lots of stairs but not a problem.
We stayed in the Music Room which looks out on the park near the river and is very quiet. Free parking is available about 150m away and check-in was easy-peasy. The location is great - all the theatres in Stratford are within walking distance. Check out the Relic Lobby Bar for cocktails and then the Bluebird for dinner.
There's a mini-frig and microwave in the room (that's good) but no cutlery or plates so you need to improvise. Also, the coffee maker is a Keurig and only two K-cups were provided so two cups of coffee is the limit.
The room was beautifully decorated, very welcoming and bright. It was very central, close to both theatre and great restaurants
There were no negatives
The location was perfect, the room was a reasonable size, bathroom was clean and fresh and, we absolutely loved that we could open the window.
I wouldn’t recommend this property for anyone with mobility issues. There are quite a few steep stairs. The stairs were fine for us and we will book in the future.
Central, very clean, comfortable bed., communications with host were excellent.
Nothing
The room and amenities as well as location
TV didn’t get regular TV channels
A beautiful room with a large window overlooking the Avon River. Two couches and a coffee table in front of the window. Very centrally located. Easy keypad entry. You can walk to all the theatres and restaurants in town. We took some long beautiful walks along the river on nice walking paths that go on both sides of the river. Comfortable bed. Amazing sourdough bakery just down the street from the entrance to the Inn. Enjoyed some really good pastries from there. Brought them back to our room and they made a great breakfast with a cup of coffee from the coffee maker in the room.
The room was bright and gave a friendly impression. The bathroom was nice and bright as well. TV worked excellent. The WiFi was great as well. Even some books were on a shelf including some concerning Edison. There was also a coffee machine in the room. The location is excellent. The theatres can be reached by foot within 5 to 10 minutes. Restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner are close. A free Parking space is provided for each of the 3 rooms of Edison Inn.
We had a bit trouble finding Edison Inn and getting to our room as a code was required. Information was sent by e-mail. As I had not checked it before departure and as we do not have data we had to phone. A nice lady provided all necessary information. Just a reminder: We did not see an elevator. For guests who have trouble with stairs, it would not be so good.
I loved the eclectic style and design of the room, the spaciousness and the proximity to restaurants. Truly a unique experience.
Parking. Difficult to find and our designated spot was taken by another vehicle. We had to park in the police lot hoping not to get a ticket or tow.
Great location, cute comfortable room with just the perfect amount of amenities. Historic building! I slept where Thomas Edison slept!
Parking is a little far away
The response to my questions via email was very speedy, and accurate along with being detailed, entrance went perfectly. Great location for our event.
Parking a bit different but once we found the location it was easy.
Location, room , it was all very nice
Not a thing
We loved the efficient entrance information sent to my mobile phone ------ very clear, so we had no difficulty entering our room. The room was comfortable and perfect for our needs. Printed restaurant information on the wall for restaurants close by was so helpful.
There was nothing we disliked about the type of accommodation we required for an overnight theatre stay. It met all our needs for the evening and night. The room had air conditioning, it was quiet and very comfortable.
Location very central in Stratford and close to theatres and restaurants. Excellent instructions and information when they were received. Amenities as advertised with Fresh milk and creamers in Fridge.
Instructions for check in were provided in messages to Booking .com but links were removed by booking .com . Had to ask for a direct text to my phone on day of check in and this worked satisfactorily.
Very clean. Very well put together. Charming room.
Minimal exits in case of fire. No exit signs. Fire on the corridor would have us trapped. Bed very uncomfortable
There is no breakfast available. The location is excellent. The room is very clean, no insects. Towels and linens are are in very good condition.
The temperature of water in the bathroom was lukewarm at its best. If you like cold showers, this is a good place! The mattress is super firm, too firm for me, felt like I was on the floor.
Breakfast was walking distance from the property. The coded entry made check in and check out a breeze. There was a dedicated parking spot with fun placard not far from the property. We chose to go to Joes Diner at 155 Eerie Street for breakfast. The food was plenty and the prices were reasonable. Features was another option, but the prices were a bit steeper.
The television did not work because the remote control batteries had expired. There was spare batteries in a container under the television, but not the right size (AA where the remote required AAA). The mini fridge; although cute, was only a dorm fridge and should be upgraded. As it is a mini suite, a small microwave was sorely missed.
Quiet. AC was great. And location and value Designated parking made the deal great
Stairs were challenged but no reason to not stay
Enjoyed the eclectic decor. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The location was very quiet. Lovely view from the window.
My only objection was the noise of the AC as it clicked on but it did keep the room very comfortable. We were in the midst of a heat wave. There was a long stairway to manage but we knew that when we reserved.
Edison's is a great location for an overnight stay in Stratford, especially if you are attending any of the shows at the Stratford Festival -- just down the street from the Avon Theatre. The rooms (we have stayed in both over the years) are spacious, comfortable, great comfy beds and relatively quiet being on major streets in Stratford.
Unfortunately, the room was not cleaned and ready for us upon our arrival -- even though we did not "check in" (self check-in at this location) until nearly an hour after the official posted check in time. I guess the housekeeping staff experienced some kind of problem. That notwithstanding, the property owners / managers got that situation rectified and provided us with a lovely bottle of Ontario wine to make up for the inconvenience.
Very comfortable space, creative decor and the most comfortable mattresses ever! Excellent communication and attention to guest needs.
Stairs are a problem for older folks and lugging a suitcase. Rooms fabulous and location great
Excellent location, especially for Tom Patterson theater. Easy self-checkin with smooth communications. Rooms hotel-sized but more nicely appointed. Walking distance to restaurants and river. Just right for a couple. We'd stay again.
Quite a few stairs to the rooms. A little road noise.
Great location. Funky fun room.
No washcloths.
Excellent location. Very creative decor. Helpfulness of Bronwyn in assisting us to find our parking spot. Selection of books to browse. Helpful info. in the room regarding places to eat, etc.
Difficult to find parking spot. One small suggestion - a mat for the tub to improve safety. The sound of the air-conditioner switching on and off disturbed my sleep.
Downtown location, comfort, cleanliness
It’s extremely difficult to find (just a small, anonymous door in a row os shops), and the stairs are a real killer.
The location to the shops and restaurants
Nothing it was lovely
My friend and I had such a good time here!! We felt really safe as female travellers because the doors lock at several points to enter the building and it’s in a very central location of stratford’s downtown area. The room door’s lock is a bit finicky but we figured out that you need to wait a second after punching in the code for it to unlock. Everything was clean and well maintained! We went for strolls in the morning and could pop back inside if we needed to rest. It’s a small room, but they’ve made really good use of the space such as placing the bed with plug outlets on each side. Communication was great. We found the included parking spot to be especially useful as it was close by and available 2 hours before check-in time. I’d stay here again!
I don’t recommend more than two people to stay in this room. I would have liked it more if they had a microwave and a bigger fridge.
Great location for eating out downtown and walking to the theaters and river. Free parking is a 5 minute walk. Comfortable room. Easy to check in. Good price.
Location was ideal for overnight stay to take in a show and meal out. Although parking is a block away, it is a reserved spot and came in handy when we arrived early and most other spots were taken up.
Accommodation does not provide breakfast. BUT it sure provide great Keurig coffee. And the room is unique. Definitely not your typical hotel room. Location is perfect. Everything within 10 minutes easy walk.
Not sure. Will have to think about it......
Location is great. Only three suites with a private entrance. We loved the Swan suite up a short flight of stairs with enormous windows overlooking the river - and an ice cream parlour next door! Decor was great, two comfy sofas, everything to make your stay pleasant. And our hosts were super lovely.
The room was very clean and set up nicely. The bed was very comfortable.
We had no air conditioning ,not working. Room was 27 degrees. When we arrived they had the window open and 2 fans going. It made it very uncomfortable as it was a very hot day.
Very convenient location for the play we attendef Great view out the window!
We didnt get face clothes.
Location was great
The ad for the property claimed that it had an air conditioner but the air conditioner did not work. The room was like an oven.
The location was perfect close to theatres and restaurants and one block from the river pathway and parks
Nothing.
Location was perfect for all our activities. The parking was easy and accessible to the room.
All good!
The room was very cozy and the view from the window was very relaxing. It was nice having two couches.
It would have been nice if Booking.com did not delete the links that were included in the messages to us from the Inn. Once we contacted the Inn directly though, they sent us a separate communication with the info we needed.
Location. Nice big room
Stairs.
Great location, near to the downtown and the park with the river.
Quaint and cozy.
I love everything.
The room was quiet and spacious and well decorated. We enjoyed having a table with two chairs so we could play cards. I enjoyed the coffee machine and the little creams in the fridge which was thoughtful.
I was told there would be steps but this was 30+ steep steps straight up without rest platforms. While I knew there were steps, I didn’t realize that I’d need to carry my baggage up and down by myself. Also, the shower should have safety handles for getting in and out of the tub.
The location was great! Right next to the river and the downtown area. I really appreciated the detailed instructions and recommendations provided by Bronwyn. Would definitely recommend and come back!
Very central to everything that has to do with Stratford
Very minor, but could use descriptions of tv operation and locking the doors. Had to experiment on how to lock the doors when leaving the room.
The room was clean and ready when I arrived. Interesting decor and good instructions posted about whom to text in case of a problem. Nice little fridge, kettle and coffee maker.
I didn't realize that because my room had a "city view", it faced the busiest street in Stratford. Traffic (including transport trucks) made sleeping very difficult. I left after the first night to book into a much quieter location. I would imagine the other rooms (facing the river) would be much quieter.
