Good location for walking into Stratford. Lovely big bed. Good facilities ie, iron, fan, hairdryer.
Few bits need updating. Bathroom needs complete overhaul, terrible shower. Big cobwebs on ceiling. Breakfast was basic could do with more variety and better choices.
Location
Cleanliness
The rooms were lovely clean and comfortable.
A few steps and stairs in the corridors are challenging for wheelchairs or older people with walking sticks. This could have been made clearer in the hotel description.
Great swimming 😊
Shame sauna was out of order.
The hotel had nice grounds, and was close to the town
When we booked the hotel, it said it was air conditioned, we checked in 14/8/26, when we got in the room it was boiling hot, so I went straight to reception to complain. Was told no other rooms available, only delux the following day and no dogs was allowed in that room. Room seemed to get hotter through the evening and over night. My chest was tight because I'm asthmatic, My dog was panting clearly struggling. If I had have been told the air conditioning wasn't working I would have cancelled.
Great location in the centre of Stratford upon Avon. Added bonus being able to use the swimming pool and steam room etc... fantastic
Location of hotel. Cleanliness . Super comfy beds. Choice at breakfast. Nice staff.
Lack of fridge in room. ( couldn’t keep my drinks or medication cool ) Lack of plug sockets by the bed. Our Room was next to spa entrance door. Constant banging door. Spa staff chatting outside our window at 6:30 in the morning. Staff and guests smoking outside our room window. Cars parked directly outside the window too often with a running engine before they turned engine off. All forced us to close the window. Room a little tired. No long mirror or make up mirror. Breakfast choice good but needs to be hotter. Luke warm beans. Toast very anaemic. Needs toasting longer.
Clean rooms comfy big bed and 5 min walking distance to town. Breakfast was really nice and fresh and constantly changed with cooked items.
Air conditioning in room was broken so room was red hot.
Pool and spa
Nothing
The location , staff were friendly when you could find them
Tatty ill equipped rooms, no wardrobe, fridge or safe which was stated in the brochures , not exceptionally clean, rusty shower, dirty cups, no on site restaurant, not a four star hotel quality not worth the amount paid.
husband loved the breakfast and there was nothing more we could have asked for, the staff were lovely and we would happily stay again and recommend for others.
nothing...
Great location , nice room
Additional services like room service or ordering food had to be through their app and not in person. The hotel is separated from the Spa
Excellent breakfast but didn't relies it was extra cost to our booking.
The location was very good, 5 minute walk into the city. Rooms were OK
The charge for parking, it cost me £ 42 for 3 nights Double yellow lines needed outside the rooms at the back of the hotel. People using the leisure centre were parked right outside our room and not in the designated parking bays.
Good location
Electric fused in the room. Reported it but no one came to fix it. Ended up finding the fuse box myself and fixing it. Room wasn’t cleaned for the first 3 of my 5 days stay. I complained and they offered me a 20% refund. That was a month ago and refund not revived.
Reception staff were polite and welcoming especially Abli
The room was a little noisy as we were above the front door
Lovely area, lots to look at in the local vicinity. The rooms were too hot and the air conditioning wasn’t working but staff quickly supplied fans to help cool the rooms.
It would have been nice if there was a bit more to read about the history of the accommodation. There is nothing to show which is the Kissing tree that is out the rear of the venue. The heated towel rail is too near to the door which opens onto the bathroom, so unfortunately burned my leg on it.
Lovely gardens
No air con in room
Clean and well located. Good amenities.
Sauna wasn’t working - not advised prior to stay.
Superb breakfast & good location
Room a bit dusty & and hairs on shower wall
Good location, characterful old building, friendly staff, good leisure facilities
Booked a king double room but was given a twin. Bed was tiny. Aircon in the room very noisy and not very effective - unable to leave on overnight due to noise. Breakfast very average in a very hot breakfast room. Bar smelled strongly of damp.
Hohe Parkgebühren
Lovely hotel in the heart of Stratford - extremely convenient for exploring town. Rooms nice and clean and comfortable. Staff very nice.
Not much - have stayed here before and will stay here again.
Able to ask for different things was excellent.
Room was close to reception not too far to walk and it was a nice clean room with everything needed. Reception staff very helpful. Breakfast was ok food could have been warmer. Hotel was an ideal location very close within easy walking distance to the centre of Stratford. Nice bar area to sit in the afternoon and evening.
A net curtain or blind would have been helpful in our room as the window looked straight out into the car park and indoor walkway not ideal for dressing/changing in the daytime. Disappointed at having to pay for car parking and it was a long walk round. Evening menu was a little disappointing,
Location and manger young lady was very helpful to put things right And was so lovely gave me a lovely birthday cake
Cleanness was not up to standard
Location
Staff were excellent
Parking was difficult
The location to the town, pubs and river was excellent
The cleanliness of the hotel was poor with dust and cobwebs everywhere. The room had a broken window, the bed wasn't made properly, the wardrobe doors didn't fit properly, the plughole in the bathroom wasn't clean and the bedside lamps were dirty and dusty. Also, the glasses that were used were not replaced for the next day. The rooms were dated and were not what you would expect for a 4 star hotel.
Location, staff, comfort, restaurant. Pool!
Nothing
I didn't get to look as we were in a room at the back. We drove round but was unable to access the building as the key entry wouldn't work. My husband walked back round to reception and was told the door should be open, but gave him another key to try. This didn't work either. He was then advised we could access the hotel via the gym. We did this and found our room, but neither of the keys opened the door to the room. We then had to walk all the way back to reception, which for someone with mobility issues is a very long walk.
Once back at reception we were advised the keys we had were for a different room. I then told them I wouldn't be able to walk all the way back to the room, and the same for breakfast each morning. I couldn't use my wheelchair as it was all steps and no wheelchair access. The staff then proceeded to talk to each other in their own language, which I found exceptionally rude.
Everything
I feel parking should be free for guests.
Good food in restaurants. Good location.
Bar area small and featureless.
Leckeres Frühstück und Abendessen.
Leider musste man mit Hund separat essen.
Full of period charm ! Location was perfectly central . Clean and comfortable.
Bathroom needs updating .
The location and the food in the restaurant were first class.
Our room needed updating. Bathroom looked old and worn. Breakfast was ok but not considering the cost of the room. It was very difficult to find the room and no help was given despite the fact that my husband is blind. I would say 3 star just.
Great location, easy walk in to town. Loved having access to the pool and gym.
The room was smaller than pictures suggest and things were a little run down. We needed help to get our hot water working.
Good breakfast choice. Pleasant bar atmosphere
I use a single stick to assist mobility, I did not expect steps throughout the hotel. We asked for a room at low level then prayed for an upgrade to a suite - it was accessed via 30 uneven stairs with threadbare carpet - very disappointing and not worth the climb. Final disappointment was that the lovely pool was inaccessible to me, as the only access was via ladder with deep steps.
Check in staff very good. Well done Albert.
The breakfast staff were aware of coeliac disease and arranged for my breakfast to be served from the kitchen Good gf bread - huge portion will reme ber that if i stay again Wish I could have made use of pool
Good location close to the city. Wonderful decor with lots of places to sit. Great outdoor space. to sit and be sociable as well as access to the spa.
Quite a long way from the room to the bar and restaurant for someone with mobility problems. This included stairs and quite a few small steps to change levels but the main hotel is a very old building and this should be expected and would not put us off staying again.
It was a lovely building in the main area, characterful and welcoming. Pool was good but sauna was closed. Bar area was nice and big carpark. Very close to the town centre.
Paying for parking was confusing as had tablet to put reg in for 24hrs free but then staff said we had to pay on an app. The reception staff made it very confusing and didn't explain much about hotel. Did say about spa opening times or the fact the sauna was closed. Our room was in the back which felt very basic and underwhelming, especially after the luxury of the main building. Bathroom needed updating and shower was a trickle.
Central Clean Had a pool
Car parking - very unreasonable system of having to pay for parking and how you pay Should be a system where hotel guests can register their vehicles at reception to avoid charges or at worst have a simpler paying process
Had character and the location
Breakfast was overpriced, and not particularly good , and some of the public areas were very tired
The hotel was very clean throughout, our room was lovely and spacious the bed was very comfortable, breakfast was very good with plenty of choice, location was good a short stroll over the bridge into the town.
The only thing I could say was about the hotel is the room was very hot don't think the air conditioning wasn't working but I think it was right through the hotel as there was fans dotted about, we did have a fan in our room.
Location and staff
Outdated bathrooms , no hot water at all at any time if day
Excellent staff.
Close to town.
Excellent location
Very disappointed with the, spa area it was like just visiting a public pool, Restaurant very expensive, lake of choice run out of meals on menus, we had the last 2 pizzas this was at 6.30 in an evening, which we paid £18 each for, a shop brought one would of cost less and tasted better! £6 for a very small bottle of lemonade!! Wouldn’t recommend restaurant at all
Always love staying at this beautiful hotel.Nice location room was spotless relaxing sleep bed really comfortable Plenty little tea & coffee small fridge free small water too
In our room number Two there’s around four panels open by the fitted wardrobe on the left with electrical things behind maybe for radiator or air conditioner So maybe place a sliding panel on them that the maintenance only no about.
Very comfortable room, tastefully furnished and decorated. Beautiful tudor style features and areas inside and out to sit and eat/drink. Lovely warm spacious pool, and beautifully stylish and cosy restaurant. The reception area had a lovely floral fragrance.
Noticed people waiting quite a while for bar service. Poor internal signage for "pool".
Location and accommodation brilliant
Nothing
Comfortable old world charm without the feeling you couldn’t relax
Room was a little dark. Could do with another lamp.
Location is good.
I came for a relaxing spa weekend, and it was anything but. This is not 4-5 star hotel quality. The sauna wasn’t working… had I known, I wouldn’t have booked this hotel. The steam room was disgusting and smelled like rotten tomato soup, so I couldn’t use that either. It probably hasn’t been cleaned or sanitized in years. The rooms they advertise online are the quaint old charming ones with wooden beams. Turns out there are only a few of them in the old section, and you most likely will be put in a 1980s ugly room facing a car park. So disappointing to have this kind of stay when I expected a beautiful, luxurious, historical stay.
I travelled with my small poodle & a friend, the room was perfect on the ground level & access to a nice peaceful grassy area. I have stayed here before & I like it very much.
Everything was good & fair.
Location
Room size and bed size
Great location right in the center of stratford, decent gym to use and parking which was valid until 2pm the next day.
The room was very clean , well equipped, quiet and bed very comfortable
The bar area is grubby and restaurant lacked any atmosphere and was dark and dull. The menu offering was appalling worst I’ve ever seen. The food when it came was basic, expensive and not very good quality. Barman was condescending and arrogant. The restaurant and kitchen need a shake up! Given the location of the hotel it could be packed for Sunday lunch if the management worked on these areas.
Location was fantastic
Quite tired and old.
Close to the town centre and dogs allowed
Proximity to town centre and accommodating staff
Location
Impersonal
Proximity to town
Shower /bath
I rated facilities as low because the pool was closed during our visit. We only found out after check-in and the pool was a factor in booking this hotel, so that was disappointing. However, the room was lovely and the breakfast was very good - plenty of choice and gluten free options as well.
The car parking situation was very confusing. If you book through booking.com you have to pay for parking. If you book directly through the hotel, parking is free. What made this complicated was that they had introduced a new payment system for the parking. You have to download an app, and decide whether to pay per hour or use auto-payment. The app is meant to detect if you have parked overnight and charge £9.00ish for the whole day. But we left and came back, during the day. We were given conflicting information as to how this worked. The staff were not properly briefed on this new system, so this was additional stress and complication that we didn't expect or want. If you're a customer, it should be free!
The tudor character of the building was lovely, they had large rooms and extra large comfy beds. Our room had a bath in the bathroom which was a bonus. We took our dog too. We didnt book breakfast.
room is not so good
Location and the service, the staff were attentive and helpful except one at reception.
The member of staff on reception who was abrupt and unhelpful.
very comfy bed and very quiet room
Breakfast was delicious, varied and plenty of it.
Pool was out of use. Wasn't told when we booked. Water stations have been removed from corridors and no replacement bottled water in rooms. We have been many times before and expected this. Parking arrangements have also changed, mo longer pay hotel its now via parking app and £2.50 more expensive. We wasn't aware of any of this when booking.
Location
270 quid for 1 night. Had hi expectations but might as well have stayed at travellodge. Sauna broken. TV ancient and lo quality. Tired room and bathroom. Bar was shut when we went to it at 11pm. Very unimpressed.
Our room was not cleaned for 1 of nights we stayed and the pool was closed for our stay
Room too hot.
Location was excellent.
The room was stifling hot. When we complained the service desk said air con had broken . It felt like 40 degrees in room. Never again.
Location
Car parking information
The old English style of the outside, restaurant and bar area.
How far away the room was from the entrance/ rest of building, the room itself, dated and average, considering the rest of the hotel it doesn’t match, some of the building is very nice. Like the town itself, has very pretty parts and very poor parts right next door.
Great location, just 10 minutes walk to Shakespeare's birthplace and 5 mins across the bridge to RSC and the beautiful river where there are cafes and shops. Great restaurant with friendly staff and excellent food. They even brought a plate with 'Happy Birthday ' and some cakes on as a surprise. Also there was a very friendly lady on the desk who made us feel welcome. They had promised some chocolates and a card in the bedroom on arrival for my husband's birthday, but nothing was there . After asking they said they were out of chocolates, but then a plate with Happy Birthday and cakes appeared. Nice gesture even if I had to remind them. The room was clean and cosy. Nice lounge to play games or have a drink.
Overall, a little less impressive than the photos. There is a very busy main road right outside which you wouldn't know from the photos. Greeted by a glum looking man at the desk when we arrived, not sure if he spoke English, we struggled to understand him and he hardly looked at us. Not a great welcome. We realised you have to pay £9 for 24 hours parking, our fault for missing that in the small print. The bedroom was ok, but overall the hotel felt a little tired, carpets around the hotel were threadbare in places but not too bad overall. Would return.
The breakfast was great as normal.
The cold water in the sink was hot.
Well taken care of historical manor in a great location.
Hot water ran out right after starting a shower and didn't come back by the time I finished. The floor right in front of the first room of a hallway was creaking, so every guest in that hallway creates a disturbance.
Location great breakfast not very hot
Great location. Beautiful building. Excellent staff. Breakfast was lovely.
Room was quite warm - couldn’t get the air con to work.
Looks so nice on the outside
Booked a deluxe room but we got a dreadful room. Room was filthy dirty. Found a nail that looked like a man’s toenail in the bed! Kept hearing people going up and down the stairs throughout the night. Went to investigate and you could hear them and sense they were there but there was nobody there. Looked it up online and the hotel is haunted.
A lovely hotel and the swimming pool is fantastic. I would stay again for the leisure facilities. The location was good too - easy walking distance from Stratford town centre. The bathroom was nice too.
The sofa bed in our family room was not very comfortable. The staff were adequate, but not particularly friendly, especially upon our arrival. However, we had a good stay overall.
Good location, clean easy check in and out.
No hot water! Woken up by a member of staff knocking on the wrong door, swimming facilities closed. No tea or coffee in the room.
The room was very quiet and the bed was comfortable. It was a good location For the event we were attending.
Reception staff were not friendly or welcoming. The accommodation is tired in appearance. It felt more like an overpriced travel lodge. The pool was closed for the duration of our stay. Parking was an extra cost. There was no hot water for the shower on the evening. It did work in the morning though.
Nothing at all about the hotel
Room was very hot a/c didn't work everything was very expensive for what it was coffee after dinner was cold. Coffee at breakfast was discussing. Continental breakfast was expensive at £18.00 not very good. The overall experience at the hotel was poor. Would definitely not come again.
Great location
Breakfast over priced
Really comfortable bed
Swimming pool shut for maintenance
The breakfast and breakfast staff were excellent. The gym was good, the bar was comfy and the location was very good.
Having to pay a third party for parking on site, which I thought should have been included in the room price. We had not been informed that the swimming pool was closed for maintenance during our stay. The reception staff were quite miserable and ill informed. We only had one large and one small towel in the bathroom, no face flannel was provided. The sink was blocked and it took an age for the water to go down (we did report this).
Great location. Lovely building, comfortable bedrooms.
Good location close to town centre, large room. Good pool and gym
Pool gets very busy, changing rooms not big enough. Standard rooms are in modern block and the air conditioning does not work
Staff helpful with dairy and gluten free options
Good location
Extremely poor communication with no response to emails about spa facilities. Left for 15 mins standing at check in and some guests rooms weren’t ready. Laborious check in process. Confusing car registration. Not offered robes/towels in spa. Swimming pool was closed for maintenance on the second day.
Beautiful property and location was excellent with onsite parking.
Bathroom was dirty. Towels had stains on them. The bathroom was dated and grime had built up. Really disappointing because the room itself was beautiful.
The location of the hotel was ideal for visiting the RSC. The staff at reception desk and throughout the building (refreshing rooms or at the spa desk) were all friendly and tried to be as helpful as they could be.
The closure of the pool during our stay was not communicated in advance, despite the fact that it was routine maintenance. The soundproofing of the room was poor - we could hear people walking in the corridor outside of our room throughout our stay. Cleaning staff attended the room before the closure of breakfast service, so we were still in the room, and they could not refresh the towels, which were dirty. We were not advised that we needed to put the hanger on our door to signal that the room still required refreshing despite speaking to the front desk directly about this issue, so upon our return to the room in the late afternoon, the staff were done for the day, and we had to pick up fresh towels from reception. The WiFi in the room struggled to provide adequate connectivity, so we were unable to work in the room, as planned. The TV guide function on the TV did not work and the TV was missing several channels.
Location
No free parking for blue badge holders. Always had been now they say have to pay. Breakfast now downscaled no more tea coffee toast etc brought to table you now have to get your own
The location
Toilet was broken I told the staff 3 times nothing was done even when I checked out
Good location to walk into Stratford
Bit tired needs a refurbishment Parking is automated and has gone up in price to nearly £10 a night. If you book through McDonald’s it’s free , booking . Com need to sort this
It was walking distance for everything we needed so location was spot on
I thought we would be staying in the beautiful building in the photos but after checking in we drove round to where our room was and it looked like an upmarket outline at first however the inside was nicer than that, just disappointed not to stay actually in the manor
Location to the theatre & downtown is great. It was the cheapest hotel in the city center (still £89/night - too expensive for what you get).
The breakfast was really lacking in choices, if you don't want an English breakfast. The egg was cold. The coffee was terrible - as weak and bleak tasting as American coffee. There was a gasoline smell coming from a kitchen door that employees kept opening; not great with breakfast. The bed was creaky and too hard. The bathroom sink only had boiling water, so we had to use the bath tub faucets. The room was stuffy, AC was broken (a fan was provided), and the window opened only a little. Parking, even for guests, has a cost. Don't order room service, the pizza is a cheap frozen pizza (horrible tasting) that will cost you at least £14.
Breakfast location comfort able bar soft white towels and toiletries.
Overall cleanliness of room . Bathroom needs refurb toilet too low .room too warm.Parking fee.poor menu selection
