Location was ok.

Food at breakfast not replenished, chairs were dirty, coffee machine not working. One lift not working for our 3 day stay . Room not particularly clean. Parking , was ok if you could find a spare place, if not you had to park in thr road but you could get a permit from reception.

I had a wonderful time with this being my first international visit from the US. The location was fantastic, the pool and hot tub were great, breakfast and dinner were fantastic and i love having everything fresh made on site. Even though it was during one of the many UK heat waves, being able to jump in the pool or go down to the pier for some ice cream was a great way to beat the heat. We had our meals included in the price and we made full use of that, it was also nice to have the option of using the included menu or having a limit that could be used on the main menu.

The AC being out, but we knew going in that it was having problems and we had brought with us means of beating the heat as well as using the provided fans. the rooms get cleaned at slightly odd times as well but once we learned the routine we were able to plan our days more effectively.

It was in a good location

I didn’t sleep all night room 014 the generator was outside the window. All night droning in my ears the only space that was quiet was the bathroom.

Comfortable bedroom and bed. Lovely shower. All areas of hotel were clean and tidy although a little dated in bar and restaurant area. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Only one lift was working which meant a long wait if you were on the 6th floor. Also a floor number sign on wall opposite the open lift doors would be helpful if there were people in lift needing different floors.

We chose this hotel because it had AIR CON and its location. When we got there it was not working. There was a fan in the room which was useless. On speaking to staff this had been like this on and off for 3 years. We will never stay at this hotel again.

The Hotel needs a good refurb. We stayed on level 5 NO Air Con level 6 had Air Con reception had Air Con. The breakfast area was to hot and sit and enjoy your breakfast it was eat it fast and leave.

Perfect location! Very close to everything I needed. Staff were helpful and friendly. I didn't catch her name, but the blonde lady on front of house was very helpful and went above and beyond. Breakfast nice and plenty of space too. Would 100% stay again!!

I found the lift very narrow as were the hotel room doors, I struggled to get a double pram through. Other than that, great!

Its position is ideal for Southsea and the Portsmouth harbour area

Exceptional value for money ,Location position and facilities are great. Comfortable room with complimentary drinks and snacks.

The breakfast was ok, however as it was busy there was not enough staff to clean the tables etc and the buffet food to ages to be replenished.

The bathroom was ridiculously small only 1 person could fit in and that was a struggle in itself as you had to squeeze yourself in to be able to shut the door, i genuinely think a larger person would really struggle. The air-conditioning was not working throughout the building so the bedroom windows were open which meant an early wake up call from the local seagulls. I hadn't asked for an adjoining room but was given one that had a locked door to the next room, not a problem except because it was a door not a wall you could hear the very chatty people nextdoor who came back to their rooms at 4am and then left for breakfast at 6 chatting constantly inbetween and they sounded like they were actually in our room as they were sitting by this adjoining door. Maybe I would suggest taking earplugs to deal with the seagulls and chatty neighbours. There was confusion whether breakfast was included, I rang reception and a man checked and said yes, we went down and my husband checked at the reception to be told no we weren't so we went to check out the restaurant and it was very busy, they checked their list and confirmed we hadn't paid for breakfast and were told it was £16.95 for full or £9.99 for continental. We looked at other diners and saw the usual hotel buffet being served and decided against it at that price and there were no tables free in any case. The car park is too small for the hotel and had no free spaces but we were given a parking permit for £5.00 to allow us to park out on the street nearby, not the same as having the security of hotel parking though. The 2 hotel lifts were tiny. It said maximum of 8 people but it was at full capacity with 4 normal sized adults and that was uncomfortably squeezed together, definitely not good enough for a reasonable sized hotel. In general the advice I would give would be to ask for a decent sized bathroom with no adjoining rooms

Due to the fact we have a disabled dog, our dogs stroller wouldn’t fit through the lift doors so we were generously upgraded to a premium room on the ground floor which was more manageable. We were also lucky enough to get parking at the hotel but noticed some street parking bays outside the hotel and other car parks nearby which is useful.

On the Friday night there was a lot of loud talking around the reception area, which lasted until around 1am. As our room was close by, it kept us awake, and apart from the couple of drunk guests that we saw, we weren’t sure if the other noise was guests or staff. We were awoke again around 5am by someone talking loud but thankfully this wasn’t as prolonged.

No subtitles on TV. The shower pressure was a bit too rough. The swimming were closed earlier than we expected.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful which made it a very enjoyable stay. The food was very good and well priced. Poached egg in the morning was excellent! Only went down a star as the air conditioning war not working so very warm.

The twin room was very small. The shower flooded when I tried to use it and overflowed into the hallway. I was therefore unable to finish showering properly. The service at the bar was substandard. The barman did not know how to make a coffee and deal with allergens safely.

Great location for the ferry. Huge grass common outside to walk the dog. Very welcoming to dogs and always tries to put us at the end of a corridor away from pass footfall.

Bed very small and uncomfortable. I’ve stayed at this hotel 4 times and never had a decent night sleep.

It was dirty, the front desk staff were slow and the manager pulled one off when there was a massive queue of people trying to check in, whole place was dirty Shower was dirty, pillows dirty. Fan in room had never been washed, curtain hanging. Off, whole place unloved and dirty

On the day we checked in , the management closed the swimming pool at 5pm instead of 8pm . When asked why at reception, the girl replied because it was a bank holiday. I showed the receptionist that their own pool schedule closure on bank holidays was not at all 5pm for which she had no answer. The air-conditioning did not work at all for which I had to ask for a second fan . The fan were not at all suitable for the family room which kept my children away all night.

Simply get air-conditionedrs working as the bedrooms aren't designed for those tiny table fans

The pool was closed. The AC was broken. The interconnecting rooms were unavailable. The staff were rude. It was just awful.

They had a room for us last minute! Plus gave me a small discount for them having no A/C after changing rooms from floor 5 to 2, which also had no A/C. Everyone was complaining. The breakfast buffet was perfect. Staff very helpful.

On checking in, the reception lady was somewhat miserable as if it was I was too much trouble to do her job. However the young lady that was on reception in the morning was cheerful and couldn’t do enough for you.

Better than expected as we'd heard the bad news about no air con. However they've put a fan in every room, it's very clean and comfortable, and the pool is lovely for a swim and hot tub! Breakfast basic, but everything you need, staff very attentive and kind.

AC wasn’t working throughout stay - only learnt this at check-in. Even with a fan, the room was too hot. We had a terrible stay. Hotel is also very tired looking, curtains were falling off and hanging off the rail. We were given a twin room despite requesting a double pre-booking and no other double was available.

Location was very good. We stayed 2 nights prior to a cruise and we had a chance to have a look around Portsmouth.

While booking, the booking.com site mentioned that the hotel offered air conditioned rooms. This was the main reason for booking this hotel. The A/c wasn’t working and we were not informed about this. It was hot and our stay was not pleasant as all.

Far better than the reviews indicate but room for improvement. We paid similar prices to Travelodge. If it had cost more, it would have probably irritated me that breakfast supplies were very low if you came down later and the air conditioning was off. I still say this hotel is a cut above the basic chains. As a warning, simply not room in the car park for modern cars. I have just resprayed mine. It cost £1000. I am not a car snob, but it has made me sensitive. There was not room for the other person to open the door without touching mine slightly unless they were incredibly careful (then almost impossible). I am quite a shy and sensitive person, but felt my car was touched although chances no damage which there was not, which I suspected but did want to check. Anyway, it was not a great experience. Just do not park there if you have a newish car and are sensitive.

The room was clean enough. The remote control did not work properly. BOTH shower gel and shampoo dispensers were empty. I booked this hotel specifically to use the spa facilities, and planned my evening around the opening times. The welcome leaflet stated that the spa closed at 22.00 on the day I visited, with the "wet side" facilites being closed at 21.30 for cleaning. I used the jacuzzi for 5 minutes and it did not function after that. At 20.55 I was using the sauna when the spa receptionist opened the door to "warn" me that he was shutting down the wet side facilities, but I could stay for another minute or two. I queried the timing, and was told that it needed to cool down before it closed at 21.30! I then left the spa at 21.05, and asked the duty manager why the information stated was incorrect. She did take note of my complaint, and said that she would inform the General Manager at Handover. I have since heard nothing. I am annoyed that the sauna, jacuzzi and steam room were closed 35 minutes ahead of the stated closing time. False advertising/information. Next time I will book with the Travelodge, as my recent experience with them was an improvement on this.

The room was clean and comfortable, the staff were nice, the spa/swimming pool better than expected and the location excellent.

Staff were excellent, very polite, very helpful. Access to the swimming pool was a welcome bonus. The bathroom was very nice and clean, and the shower was good compared to other hotels I've stayed in.

Strange noise in the room, sounded like the wind coming through the air conditioning, very odd. Some scuffs on the walls but nothing horrendous. Having to pay extra for parking is an unwelcome extra.

Location to the event we were attending

Grubby, tired, dirty, chipped paint and scuffed wall in all the hallways. Room was small, dirty, phone next to bed had years of dirt on it, window sill was full of dead flies, mirror hadn’t been cleaned, net curtain full of stains, the shower was full of slimy grime in the runners and in the corner of the shower tray. It felt that the room needed deep clean and an update. No air-con, window didn’t open, very uncomfortable night.

Location and swimming pool are making this hotel a good deal

Breakfast We have paid for breakfast over 50£ for 3 persons and variety of the food was very pour ...1 type of cheese, 1 type of ham.....eggs ,beans and sausages almost cold.

The fact we’ve had the hottest summer, the hotels air-conditioning Just was not working so they gave us a fan that was so noisy the breakfast really busy so we ended up having to sit at the bar.

Slamming doors due to people letting them close without stopping them slamming. A common problem in most hotels due to fire door regulations. Bathroom was very small.

Their air conditioning was not working when we were there so it was quite warm at night but they had already informed us on arrival that they were trying their best to fix it. They did supply fans to help. Thank you.

Had to kerping requesting more supplies e.g milk, tea etc. Car parking for guests difficult as shared with health club members. Parking permits were available but not keen to leave car on main road.

You can not write a lot about this Hotel it is very poor on all fronts . The poor staff put a brave face and are very helpful but always avoid answering questions about the AIR CON . We stayed in August 2026 and they are still waiting for part to come from Germany for the AIR CON standard answer for the last 2 years evidently we been told by some members of staff. Will never stay at this hotel again

Good location and staff

No air conditioning in rooms, they were like a furnace. The air conditioning has been broken for sometime now. Many guests complaining and no sign of the company fixing it.
