Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel

The hotel was lovely, with a very freindly staff who were welcoming and helpful. The room was quiet and comfortable and the ariconditioning was great! There was plenty of parking and a good breakfast. It is a great place to stay if you travel with your dog.

A little far from Chester Town center, but the trade off is a quiet room in a modern facility.

The rooms are very past their best

Hotel public areas and bedroom were spacious. It never felt claustrophobic. Plenty of car oarking at the hotel, which is not always thr case. One of the reasons we picked this hotel was its proximity to the Chester Park and Ride, which we used often to avoid trying to park the car in Chester City centre. All in all, a most pleasant stay, and would certainly stay here again.

The receptionist Laura was amazing, had all the answers at hand to our questions about the area and even offered her local expertise that contributed to our lovely trip, give her a raise!

Not much to be honest

Comfortable bed, good shower and excellent breakfast.

There was no lift to the upper level and a long distance from the entrance to our room with heavy cases which we could not take to our room from the car in the carpark.

I was made to stand for hours, and my booking could not be confirmed. I had a horrible experience with the staff on duty. I don't understand why my booking at booking.com was not updated with the hotel. I had a very horrible experience yesterday.

Location of hotel is just off the main junction to Chester City centre,free parking and a 10 minute walk to park and ride which is a short ride into town.(£2.50 return)

leisure facilities were old and dirty . sauna wasn't working , apparently hasnt worked for weeks . shower is the room was either too hot or too cold. I expected more for the price I paid

Staff at reception desk were pleasant and friendly, happy to assist. Breakfast was good with multiple choices of food.

Incorrect timings for breakfast stated on the information sheet in the room. Bathroom could do with a shower curtain so that water doesn't splash over the floor.

Location was good. Free car parking for customers. Rooms were big. David at breakfast was exceptional and his knowledge with allergies was out of this world. Nothing was an issue for my husband who is celiac.

Our key for the room didn’t work and after the 5th time going back to reception they issued us new keys.

The light switch near bed for over bedi light, could be turned on but when turned, did not dim the lights, also the phone charger socket did not work.... However this did not s affect our stay at the hotel

Waiting at reception for 15/20 mins before anyone came, the room was tatty, dated, very basic, holes in the curtains, broken socket, dirty. we have stayed in many mercure hotels this is by far the worst one, it felt like it was at the bottom of the pile, neglected, its a shame!! Definitely bedrooms needs a revamp.

Location to explore Chester excellent and park and ride on doorstep. Lovely room (125) quiet and private. Attentive staff and lovely food. This is our third stay here.

Bedroom had adjoining door so could hear people talking quite clear in next room also room could do with more drawers.

Sausages burned and dry. Saw the a staff member getting stressed with other employees and looked really annoyed. I think he's the manager of the hotel which was yesterday evening. I don't know what's going here but what ever it is please sort it out.

Location was good, which is why we booked.

Shabby hotel, pet hairs all over the bedroom floor. The window catch on our downstairs room was broken & would not close, so could easily have been opened from outside. This was a ground floor room so no restriction on how far the window would open. Meaning that someone could have climbed in easily. Advised staff on Reception, nothing was done during our stay. Consequently we had to take all of our valuables with us whenever we left the room.

The constant traffic noise on a night. Had to close the windows even though it was too warm. Some of the staff weren't very friendly and a few of them were rude and not very interested in the guests. Would not stay here again.

The bedroom was shabby with wallpaper coming off the ceiling, a creaky uneven floor and a fan with dust all over it. The hot water for the shower took literally minutes to come through and then only low volume. One of the bedside lamps didn’t work.

The property has good but basic faculties and is very close to the park and ride for easy access to Chester City Centre.

The property needs a revamp! The bedrooms need modernising. The floor boards and beds squeak and can hear everything next door are saying snd doing! Breakfast they need to be on the replenish quicker!

The actual pool itself and the jacuzzi were the best part of the whole stay The breakfast was also really tasty for a buffet breakfast

Staff were rude, huffing and puffing when having to serve on the bar after waiting ages for a staff member to serve you. The changing rooms in the pool area were not nice The bathroom door in my room had what I think was blood on it It felt like the staff did not want you there Really not a 4 star hotel and service and really not worth the money Everything seemed worn and dated and depressing

Booked 2 twin rooms, when I went to get into bed the sheet on the bed was all creased and not even tucked under the mattress properly. Doors could do with closers on them, woken up early due to doors being banged

Lovely hotel. Breakfast was fantastic so much choice. Keycard did stop working a few times and had to go back to reception. We was keeping it in the little card and away from phones and credit card but it did still keep not working.

There was only very small hot tub. Which wasn’t hot it was lukewarm at best. The bubbles was still nice tho and the steam and sauna rooms. Pool was warm which was nice.

Dated in need of a refurbishment not a four star hotel or value for money. The pool area is dirty the showers don’t work in the changing rooms. The beds previously had draws in but they have been removed completely very scruffy. Un hovered carpets. Waiting for breakfast on both mornings never any food left having to wait for more food to be brought out. It’s very expensive at the bar too.

Good location with easy access to other towns. Room was clean and staff were very helpful.

No lift available when walking to upstairs room with luggage. The bedroom smelled strongly of cigarettes. No water provided in room. No aircon which is a real issue on a sunny day due to the large windows in the room.

Staff were great and obliging, especially DG, they moved my mum to help her mobility issues. Brealfast was fine.

My room however was noisy due to stair access, no comfy chair. Evening meal was disappointing. Cold and undercooked vegatables.

Mecure Chester Abbots Well Hotel is still as clean as ever. My Husband and I are return-guests and enjoyed our stay. Excellent and warm staff..Breakfast was sumptuous. We will definitely return.

Wifi was a bit slow

The room was clean and in good repair, the bed was comfortable and the breakfast was well cooked and the self service worked fine, all in all a very good experience. The only issue was that there were no drawers in the room to allow you to unpack properly.

The room itself is dated especially the bathroom. The bathroom needs to be replaced completely it was that bad. No air con in the room and the fans provided were rubbish.

The location was perfect for our needs and easily accessible. The price was exceptional for a small double bedroom for single occupancy use and I was delighted to see a bath. There was a fan, hairdryer, iron and board and a reasonable amount of tea and coffee. With 24 hr reception our late arrival was no problem.

I’m not sure there was a lift. This wasn’t a problem for us as we only had an overnight case. The overhead shower was not the easiest to control the temperature and the pressure was not great. I was also saddened to see that the duvet was coffee stained when I removed it as it was too hot but I am probably being overly critical given the exceptional value for money stay that I was offered.
