The Queen at Chester Hotel - Handwritten Collection

Returned for our 5th wedding anniversary. Left a note when booking and was left a bottle of Prosecco and a beautiful plate with chocolate writing on it. Bed was very soft and comfortable.

Staff made us use pc check in desk, then tried to charge us again after it. We were meant to check in at 2pm and the room wasn’t ready until 3:10. The water pressure was awful so took forever to shower/ run the big bath we paid extra for Then morning of check out we received 2 texts and an email asking what time we would be checking out. It removed all personal touch and made us feel like they just wanted guests out.

Location good, easy to get to. Would be better if there was free parking.

Great building, friendly and efficient staff, very convenient for the station.

Room was small but that was clear from the offset and factored into the price so no complaints.

Location by railway station and walkable to town

Basic double was too basic so we upgraded to a delux when there.

visit for wife's birthday when arrived reception upgraded our room, and as a bouns we got some drinks vouchers, room was large, bed was comfy can't fault the staff, the barmen in the cocktail lounge were fantastic

The lounge and the bar with the dining room were pleasant areas to sit in. There was a big choice for breakfast. The room itself was of a reasonable size. The staff were helpful and friendly.

The menu in the restaurant was more like a pub menu rather than A La Cart. While the room was clean enough the cleaning of the bathroom was not done properly generally. The room was not serviced one day and the following day the door had not been closed properly.

It was too much digital application or some of them was too complicated for so ease topics :)

There is no parking, you have to pay for it. And staff not always helpful.

The hotel looked grand on the outside and in the reception area.

Electronic check in. No personal touch. Didn't know where the room was, had to find it ourselves. Didn't know what time breakfast was or where. Smelly room, dirt in the shower like it had not been cleaned. Hair on floor in bathroom. Dirty cup. Fluid stains down the wall by the tea making area.

The reception areas, bars and breakfast room are fresh, modern and clean

The rooms badly let this hotel down. Shower gel dispenser was empty, lots of mould in the shower tray and the rooms are generally in need of fresh decoration and modernisation.

The original room was 232 and this was very poor, it was dusty, there was no refreshments provided for tea, coffee or water, the tiles were coming off the bathroom wall, there was the smallest roll of toilet paper that would not have lasted two days, the toilet didn't flush properly, there was milk tops covering the internet light, the windows were really dirty and full of cobwebs and I had paid £259 for this room with breakfast. I confirmed these details to the receptionist, who was very apologetic and moved us to a more acceptable room but still will over priced. I was disappointed it was a surprise for my partner for his 55th birthday and it embarrassed me.

The rooms was lovely and spacious in the family room

But the bathroom in the room was very poor and we didn’t even want to get a shower as the bath was stained yellow. The coffee and tea wasn’t refilled in the room daily.

The entrance and restaurant were very good. Staff and welcome also good.

The sheets, duvet and pillows were OK, but not great. The location next to the lift (room 1602) meant that you could hear the lift equipment all night. Lack of USB ports to charge phones. Parking at the back was a rip off and not clear when we booked.

Very well located hotel, opposite the main railway station at Chester. After a tough 24 hour challenge, I needed somewhere to rest and recuperate before heading home. The experience at the hotel was very welcoming and a pleasant experience. The staff were first class, helpful, courteous and professional. The room is well designed and equipped. A comfortable bed and good quality pillows, hot water throughout the day, a bath and decent shower. The food and drink was very good. The breakfast is expensive, although there was a good selection of food on offer and no limits

The Queen hotel was within walking distance to the train station and attractions. A couple of the receptionists were excellent. We had a problem with lighting in the bathroom of both rooms we were in and was told it would get taken care of but it wasn’t. The bathroom mirrors need to be resolved or fixed.

Bed was really small Look tired and worn (bathroom door wouldn’t shut properly and it was all worn away at the bottom Stains over carpet Said we were next door to our friends but we weren’t Air condidn’t work We were next to some sort of revolving door that was opening and shutting all night and especially early morning so we hat should have been a lie in we were up so early due to the banging

Someone messed up the steps outside and it was there for a couple of days. Should have been washed down quickly. If I'm nitpicking - in the shower cubicle some grouting and sealant needed cleaning/replacing.

Housekeeping. Had to request 2nd days towels and water & clean glasses! Carpet wasn't cleaned either however, the bed was made. Annoying number of flies in the corridors leading to rooms!!!

Loved the fact it’s pet friendly! And everyone who worked there were amazing and even given us a pet goody bag on arrival. The girls who work there are all amazing all the staff are great! So welcoming and we’re booking in again and again! Love this hotel!

we didn't get the room we booked when we were moved to a room with a sofa bed it was so uncomfortable my Daughter could not sleep on it ....... we waited such a long time to get our room changed and then it was by the door in the corridor which banged every time someone went through it -which was often-it was not a good experience as we did not sleep-no one was interested

House keeping was poor in our room don't think anyone had really attended to our room would have informed reception but was never asked if everything was OK with our stay and was in a it of a hurry to check out this was the only thing that let a nice 3 night stay down

The location near the train station was excellent. It was only a 10m walk from the station to the hotel. The hotel was also pretty well equipped with resturant, cafe and bar facilities and was very central in the town itself.

Our room suffered from a spiderweb and spider in the painting that hung directly over the bed. I would hope something like this would usually be spotted by housekeeping staff.

Excellent location , across from the station and 5 minutes walk to main centre: hotel is beautiful following refurb , lovely surprise were the gardens , our room was spacious with a fabulous huge new bathroom

I enjoyed Services of the hotel. Stay was great. The only think that was a bit annoying was the fact that when checking out I payed twice due to a malfunction of your TPE. I sent an email reporting the issue but hotel never responded and I did not get my money back.

Lots of marks on the walls. Bath was all chipped. Mold around bath. Panel coming off. Damage to table and photo frame above bed. Coffee rings all over bedside tables. TV did not work- rang reception and this was sorted. Dusty. Breakfast quality was below average. Skirting boards coming off. Unfortunately the rooms have really gone downhill since the last time we stayed.

It was so close to the train station, the room was large and clean, the breakfast was well worth it and the service was excellent

Excellent facilities, well located for the city centre. If travelling by train the hotel is directly across from the station. Beautifully refurbished.

On the morning after our arrival I was unable to open the room door from the inside. I had to ring reception for someone to let us out. If there had been an emergency overnight we would have been trapped inside. The problem hadn’t been fixed when we left. The evening meal was good but I had to remind the waitress that we hadn’t been served our desserts after a wait of over 20 minutes.

Bathroom door was water damaged and didn’t close properly which was an issue during the night when the noise of the heater was constant, shower temperature constantly changed, water from bath taps never got hot, doors in corridor were constantly banging all night, gap around the door let a lot of light in during the night from the corridor

Breakfast was good plenty of options

Room quality was extremely poor. Rips in the carpet mold over the cupboards, shower, and windows. We requested to move rooms and it was the exact same in the new room. The front of the hotel and reception was lovely but rooms need urgent refurbishment.

The suite claimed to be suitable for 4 guests, travelling with my husband and two kids. The sofa bed was made up but was a single so not big enough for two kids nevermind two adults. Took the hotel staff two requests to put another bed in there.

Awesome everything, beds, separate bath and shower, the bath robes, housekeeping and reception were fantastic. A smart TV would also be nice to really bring it all together.

There was a condom under the bed, little gross but it happens!

Great location and communal areas looked all repainted. Staff very friendly, quick check in and good breakfast. Our room needed some TLC with a cracked basin and room doors need stoppers or soft closure mechanisms as it was quite noisy when people opened and closed their doors at night. Probably one of the older rooms. Anyway good stay and good value.

Junior double suite was absolutely stunning! So comfortable & bigger than expected. The hotel is in the perfect location. Super friendly staff who went above & beyond thank you we will definitely be back.

The breakfast was good. The room was spacious.

This year we felt the rooms was below standards for the amount you pay. It was tired looking (ripped settee and wall paper coming away) the toilet roll holder came off the wall and we had a power cut. The power cut was reported, but no-one came to fix it, so I had to get ready in bad light and I could use my hair appliances. Overall a little disappointed thus year.

Good location for train station and short walk from town. Communal areas decorated nicely and seem to have been renovated recently. Plenty of room in superior double room including nice big bathroom. Love that there is a hotel cat!

We stayed in a superior double room which was located at the front of the building on the road/train station corner. This meant that it was very noisy well after midnight and again early in the morning. I appreciate the street noise can’t be controlled by the hotel, but the location of the room in the hotel was not made clear when booking. The room was also located above the hotel bar which played loud music until midnight meaning we did not sleep well at all. Toilet ran all night. Room felt quite dated and in need of a good redecoration - all painted surfaces had clearly just been painted over again and again and the floors weren’t level… which was a shame given the communal areas appear to have been renovated recently and were decorated very nicely. Parking advertised as £15 for 24hrs on a weekend, but ended up paying 17.45 for 19 hours.

The staff I spoke to were friendly and helpful and the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The decor in the room was lovely and the bed was really comfy. Unfortunately I was only there for one evening, as I was coming back from Holyhead. Hopefully I will be back for a more relaxed visit soon.

My partner and I recently stayed at The Queen at Chester Hotel on the 19th of August in room 208. Unfortunately, the bathroom was not maintained to an acceptable standard. There was visible mold around the bath sealant, as well as significant limescale and mold around the showerhead. This was unpleasant and raised concerns about the cleanliness and hygiene of the bathroom. See photos Due to these concerns, we were unable to use the shower during our stay. Instead, we had to resort to having a basic wash using a flannel at the sink. In addition, the air conditioning unit in the room had a significant amount of dust accumulated on and around it. This gave the impression that the unit had not been properly cleaned or maintained and further added to our concerns about the overall cleanliness of the room. Given that the air conditioning circulates air throughout the room, we found the amount of dust particularly concerning.

The location is ideal. Right opposite the train station and very close to the centre of Chester.

The hotel is lovely. Rooms were nice, beds were comfy, a few choices of pillows, complimentary waters & bag of crisps. The body wash smelt lovely. Bar & lounge areas were very nice.

When getting to the room it was very dusty and handle doors on wardrobe came off ,the room was very compact and small and furniture was very shabby,breakfast was all cold and dining room was dirty. .
