Location
Uncontrollable shower, very hot then ice cold
Bed was comfy and staff were polite and welcoming Breakfast was lovely Huge bed
No tv remote in room asked reception for one and they brought it approximately 10.30 when we had given up and gone to bed. The window was open in our room the metal frame on the window had slipped at one side exposing the edge of the glass. My elderly friend who came with me found it difficult to navigate the stairs to get to the lift Shower screen no were near long enough therefore ended up with water on the floor had to use towels to mop up
Good quick check in
The hotel rooms were a little tired
The ease of parking, super staff at reception to welcome and attentive in checking in. Delicious breakfast, coffee bar, busy and great atmosphere. Lots of seating. To have outside space, spacious grounds, fresh air, peaceful such an asset. If I had stayed longer/ had more time to relax (than x1 night) I would add a swim - also
My double room was extremely hot. Uncomfortably hot. Opened the windows of course. Took a shower to cool down. No air conditioning. Bathroom spotless and clean. Bed linen great, clean and fresh. The carpet needed more hoovering, plastic bits, dry flaky stuff by the curtains and plinth.
Nothing
The spa. Pool was ice cold, saunas are separated so couldnt go with my partner. People in rooms are disgusting. No warning of kids getting swimming lessons at a spa
Établissement bien placé et confortable
Meals more items on the menu
Lack of easy chairs in the room and my room did not have a table
They take dogs. Free parking.
Poor design of bedroom which was poorly maintained. Very busy with noisy events and full carpark.
The room service was impeccable everything was always replaced and room was always clean when I returned and towels and coffee condiments were replaced after use
The available amenities from the bar , spa and outside seating area was great that the hotel has all this available but the spa was a bit dated in style and the hallways to the rooms looked like a hovel but the rooms were in Pristine condition
Location for what we needed, breakfast that was included
The decor was very worn and tired. We had 8 rooms booked, all of which were dirty, stains on curtains and shower curtains and some of the bed sheets as well. Room keys did not work constantly and involved going up and down two flights of stairs every time to reset them every time someone left the room. Pool facilities were apauling, roof looks like it was falling through, floor wasn’t clean, pool was crumbling around the sides, hot tub was smelling to the point none of use went into it, there are better quality abandoned buildings!
Great location. Easy stay. Helpful a welcoming staff (receptionist particularly noteable). Plenty of parking. Big room and comfortable bed. Slept really well. Good range of foods at breakfast, especially for anyone with food intolerances.
Would have liked tomatoes with breakfast. Room supplies and refresh a little random. (Odd number of drinks/biscuits in a double room, not all used items replaced). Small things.
Location and staff
It was old and tired. I was given a room whether there wasn’t even a fan. There’s no air come. I was very uncomfortable due to the heat.
Location close to Leeds castle Great breakfast
Rooms and pool a bit dated needs a freshen up
Breakfast
Noisy room. Dirty carpets. No clothes storage. Long wait at reception. Poor view from bedroom..Room overlooked storage and air conditioning units. Struggle to find parking space in car park. Some staff 'surly' natured.
Ligging Restaurant
Our spacious suite met expectations, as did dinner with a menu to suite most. The offer of three courses for a set price was very competitive and proved very enjoyable. Breakfast offered a good range of both cold and hot items, though only fried eggs were seen (no doubt others notably scrambled eggs would be available on request).
Staff were generally well intentioned but lacked sparkle (with the exception of reception) or an air of confidence, especially at dinner. Leadership seemed lacking and whilst our mix up with our starters was dealt with well (by the barman?) it was difficult to see just who was in change. Whilst there is a lift, access to it demanded negotiating circa ten steps down to it. I would hope that porterage would be available on request. The hotel is set in impressive and extensive parkland, but the building is showing its age and the ceiling above the pool requires attention.
Ontbijt was top
Location was perfect and breakfast was lovely
Hotel is very tired I had done an up grade online and it wasn’t done rooms were very old carpets had carpet mouths in them. Went for a drink downstairs and very dirty food on floor and left on tables. Went back to get changed and the same hours later
Bar was nice but insanely expensive
Rooms are incredibly hot Rooms are very out of date Absolute maze to find the room Can hear every conversation people are having inside and outside their rooms No air con Windows open about as much as a thin slice of ham Bathroom was incredibly out of date and rusty Breakfast was average The hotel can’t decide which era it is in Not even given basic items like water bottles in the room Hotel shop was disgustingly expensive - £4 for a small can of red bull
Staff were friendly. Room was clean and a good size and the food was good.
The bed was hard.
Noise levels were not controlled. A room next door had 8 teenagers who arrived at 3am and continued to party for over an hour. I pre ordered a vegetarian breakfast but there was no note of this with our room details. I had to ask a staff member for it, but they didn't know what to do. By the time they had worked out what to do, my food was so delayed that it didn't arrive until the rest of our friendship group had finished all of their breakfast courses. I also booked a double room. We turned up to a twin room.
Our visit to Maidstone was to go to Leeds’s castle - so very convenient.. also nice welcoming entrance and staff ..
The dinning room area floor (bottom part) wasn’t very clean looking - very minimal painting needed in some halls - and near the lifts is required .. other than that - all else was excellent
Perfect facilities for an overnight stay
Slight noise from a wedding party but understandable for the business.
The breakfast was good
Rooms are very dated scuffs and marks all over the wall, dirty looking carpets. Bathroom grout dirty.
Comfortable enough in terms of bedroom
Whole hotel was very tired and needs a big chunk of investment to bring it up to the level I would expect from a Mercure. Paintwork was battered, carpets stained and damaged in places. The dining area was OK but some areas were cordoned off so at times you were searching for a table for breakfast
Location is good facilities ok
It took far too long to check in due to booking errors and checking out took just as long with additional charges
Nice ground
Very noisy, party at the conference centre with loud music and loud crowd outside and very noisy in rooms until early hours of the morning, complete disrespect to other paying. Hotel management should have informed guests that a party until 1 am was planned.
Great surroundings, superb breakfast, chef was spot on, dogs made welcome. Marie was very friendly gave here 10/10 camber town beer excellent.
Why only 2 clothes hangers, we stayed 5 nights!
Clean, easy to find. Value for money. Great food. Staff really friendly and helpful
It was all good
Good location
Nothing
The facilities were good but needs renovation.
I liked the environment and staff were polite helpful.
Breakfast was excellent. Mushrooms second to none.. Great pool and sauna.
Room showing signs of wear. But still clean
Scenery & parking.
Food is over priced at £15 for a panini & £18 for a self service breakfast. I was told there was a 24hr bar but it was closed at 1am on a Saturday night.
Over all good
Little bit dated
Perfect location just off M25 J8
Room interior just adequate. Reception staff poor. I made better time than expected and rooms were available at time I arrived but this Hotel wanted to charge me £40 unless I waited until 13:00. And 12:50 was a no go also! I politely greet people especially service people but one member of staff smiled or said anything other than when I was leaving a nice chap on reception but also filling in as a decorator and painting in the foyer wished me a good day and journey ahead. I thanked him and told him he was the only pleasant member of staff I had come across, in the hotel, at breakfast etc.
Really good value for money and lovely staff
Corridors a little tired looking
The room was much larger than expected and the view out the window suburb The bed was very comfy but sadly the pillows too hard for me it would have been nice to have a choice However my partner thought they were great, I had neck ache in the morning The breakfast was amazing such a good choice and presented very well. Lovely view of the grounds from the dining room The staff were very nice and attentive
My pillow too hard
Very helpful staff and nice breakfast
Really badly needs a refurb. Lots of tired fittings, bodged repairs and feels really dated
Location Restaurant
No EV charge points Rooms now a little dated but good value
.
Great location and price
Room quiet noisy
Comfortable beds, and nice room. Breakfast decent.
One power point in whole room for two people!! Nowhere therefore to charge your phone. No aircon, so very hot room in July!
The reception staff were delightful. The room and bed were clean and comfortable. The wifi worked well, was easy to connect with a strong signal throughout the property (I stayed near reception). The breakfast was excellent. The property has been refreshed since I last stayed 4 years ago. Parking was easy and plentiful.
I liked everything.
Exceptional staff at reception bar and restaurant
Food was terrible 😕 easily the worst I've had Was reduced to having bread butter and crisps it was so bad Also toasted sandwich had sweet chilli on it camouflaged on the menu as JAM !!!!! Please 14 quid for that cmon
The cleaners are very noisy in the morning and start waking you up at 8:00 a.m., slamming doors and all that.
The food was very good and the take away breakfast was just perfect., The room was very comfortable and provided all the facilities we needed.
Some of the exterior is showing signs of wear which does not do the service justice. The person who checked us in noted that we needed 4 breakfasts at 7am, but the message did not get through, However the issue was corrected within 10 minutes with much apology.
Easy to find
Needs air conditioning
Location, ckeanliness, meals and staff veryfriendly
A guest in next room was awake most of the night until after 3am shouting, swearing non stop
The food was fantastic that we ordered. The mature members of staff in the restaurant were extremely professional and helpful. The music on Sunday was a great added bonus it was excellent very chilled for the late afternoon highly recommend.
The tables in the restaurant were not cleared down in the evenings we sat near a table that seated 4 which was left dirty for over an hour. The key cards were a nightmare especially as we were in a room that was 3 flights up and 2 corridors away from reception. It would not have felts so bad if we were closer to reception. I do feel this issue should be addressed and not left. The tills had no change on both nights which is a pain if your paying with cash plus its part of daily set up. Rooms are not well stocked for having a hot drink 4 mini milk cartons and 3 small coffee sachets for 2 over 2 nights is not enough.
Breakfast excellent with good choice. Restaurant was very good and staff friendly and efficient
Found the room a little small, but that was relatively unimportant
Good food
No air con in room
Boiling hot room couldn't sleep not acceptable and was expensive for a dated room doesn't deserve the star rating
Lovely staff, very helpful, excellent breakfast
Our room we were allocated was very poor. It was very small with only 2 coat hangers between 2 people and we were staying 2 nights. It had no safe either which should be standard. As we had stayed the year before in a standard room, we thought we knew what to expect. It was on a mezzanine floor, so no lift directly to the floor so had to get our suitcases up or down the stairs. We also were quite away from the lift and had to ask directions from housekeeping who were around. We did have our room changed at no extra cost, although we still only had 2 coat hangers. Also there are no drawers to put anything away in so were living out of a suitcase. The room was very warm and the windows only open 2" and then I had to wedge one of them open with my inhaler
Excellent location and presence, good choice of breakfast and very nice and friendly staff. Parking was ample.
Looked a bit tired in places.
Supper and breakfast pretty good
The bed was big and very comfortable. Food was delicious really enjoyed the food. Breakfast was good
Didn’t like the facilities bathroom really need some tlc carpet in the room very outdated curtains were dirty and plastic there was no mini fridge in the room. The pool area need some love and why is there carpet in the pool area? It was dirty
Lovely big comfortable bed! Spacious clean room. Excellent breakfast. Nice jacuzzi and pool.
The outside of the hotel looks old and tired. The room was too warm. The ceiling over the pool looks like needs some repairs and water was dripping from it.
We have stayed here several times and so know what it has to offer. There is leisure facilities which are ok. Breakfast was busy but we were seated straight away and the food was good. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The car park was heaving as there was a function on and the overflow needs some work.
Very good breakfast and bed was massive
Swimming pool was feeling a bit run down / tired and dated
Comfortable beds and helpful reception staff. Breakfast was amazing
Key cards don’t work and the rooms are aren’t close to reception - we had to keep going to reception to ask to be let in. The bar staff/service is really poor and slow. Leisure facilities are really run down and the pool was being used for swimming lessons for children - so not a relaxing experience
It was good although we had to wait for scrambled eggs to be made
The carpet at the entrance to the 3rd floor corridor was badly stained which gave a bad impression. One of the chairs in our room was also dirty
Location
Poor ventilation fans not very good
Location.parking.
Very basic and tired. Awful rooftop / wires / gantries view from room. Long walk to room: one small lift at end of ling corridor. Cold dining area. Prior dinner reservation not recognised. Disappointing as we have stayed before and have another booking ahead!
It was nice the room was comfy I paid extra for a suite hoping for a 4 poster bed ?
Very dated needs a touch of TLC
The location, price, dinner and breakfast
The AC in the restaurant was very cold which made it uncomfortable
Staff very nice
Wasp nest on landing when getting out of the lift . Wasps coming through a hole in the ceiling. Room card did not work . Had to go to reception to change it. My bed did not have a lock on the wheels and I got out in the night for the bathroom and when I got back in the bed it moved and I fell onto the floor. Room so very hot and fan did not blow out cool air
Breakfast was hot and fresh
The hotel was very shabby, and the carpets were dirty
The staff were very friendly and helpful.
The whole place looks like it needs a bit of a revamp. Carpets were old and not too clean. The window in our room was meant to be unable to open more than an inch, the stopper was broken and the glass in the window moved independently of the frame that was a little worrying as we were upgraded to a family room and the window was next to the single bed.The beds and bathroom were clean and comfortable. We used the pool which was ok, the spa pool didn't look very clean and had an odd smell, needless to say only used it once!
Staff in the evening were friendly and helpful, it was a great place to stay in regards to how close it was to the euro tunnel.
Room very run down and in need of updating , was a bit grubby in the bathroom and not enough socket there are none at all by the bed .
Very friendly and helpful staff.
Our room overlooked a facility plant room so was a bit noisy. A light sleeper would have a problem.
The family room we had was tired and old and didn’t feel clean, it was boiling hot so hard to sleep. Staff in the bar were struggling with orders and didn’t know what they had in stock . Food in the evening was not very nice.
The staff were pleasant.
The room was dirty, bathroom covered in toothpaste splash. Room for disabled given was down a long corridor then a flight of stairs and then another corridor. We discussed and got a room upgrade at a cost. Advised when checking in breakfast not booked but it was, had to pay then get refund on checking out.
Not much, dated and the online gallery isn’t what you get as a room It’s bathroom is from the late 90’s and isn’t reflected on the online gallery
All of it, tired and needs modernisation
Staff were pleasant. Comfortable bed and good breakfast. The property is just a little tired
Location, price, leisure facilities
Room was dated and tired, no air con so was really warm
Location was great
Needs a refurbish rooms and facilities tired.
It was quite convenient with only 40 mins from the Dover ferry port. Staff was friendly, breakfast was good as well!
No air conditioning (not unusual in the UK but with rising temperatures, also hotels have to modify!) and window was only to be opened a tad so the room was stuffy and hot all the time. Room, bathroom and furniture was also bit old-fashioned, no fridge available either. Bed was quite uncomfortable but that’s subjective view.
The staff are just very good at they job and helpfull
Food menu is poor
The staff were reasonably polite - not all though. Location handy.
Appalling quality of rooms, bedding etc. Hasn't been updated since the 1970s. So long ago that they don't have plug sockets next to the bed. The bathroom had a grimy shower curtain. The carpets all over the floors including corridors were threadbare in places. Broken fan. Boiling hot. The swimming pool area was dirty - hair cloggong drains etc. I cannot believe how much they charge. I've stayed at nicer motorway travelodges than that.
Good location great staff and they welcome dogs whole heartedly
Room bit hot even with fan
The pool was amazing, hidden jem. Food and staff way amazing
Some of the benches outside could use some love as well as the pool
I enjoyed my stay here and it was comfortable, the breakfast was lovely, a wide variety of options and the staff helpful and friendly. The facilities I didn't make use of as I was alone but mostly studying but seeing what was on offer, it was good.
I feel the attention to cleaning could be better. it was clean but not to a standard of the stars issued for hotel. I could physically leave handprints in the dust underneath the tv unit, I also found blood or some other fluid on my bathroom door frames, plus hairs in plugs, I also think the tea tray should have been moved as there were no safe plug sockets near to plug the kettle in, which meant walking across the room(not the end of the world of course)
Lovely clean comfortable room great breakfast and enjoyed the pool and sauna. Also very good location
Excellent stopover on our way home
Nothing in particular, it was good night stay
Location . Food
Bar understaffed. Restaurant area carpet filthy 9
It’s a bit tired and needs a little attention the carpets in the dining room and some of the serving tables
Friendly staff at reception
That fact that there was human poo on the curtain and the place hasn't had a face lift since the early 90s. Broken light switches to scum on tiles in bathroom
The lady at the reception and the guy at the counter were very friendly and helpful. The location was very nice and walking distance to Leeds Castle.
The hotel restaurant manager was quite unfriendly and sat me outside the bar area like a leper, while there was free space in the restaurant area (this is just a minor annoyance). There was no air conditioning in the room, only two fans that stirred the hot 32-degree air because the window could only be opened 18cm high (a “safety” wire prevented it from being opened higher). There was no toilet brush next to the toilet, which was frustrating for me after using it that the toilet bowl was not clean. The furniture was very worn and worn out, the carpet was critically dirty (although I know they vacuum it, but it needs a deep cleaning or replacement).
Great location for Leeds Castle
The room was incredibly warm and uncomfortable. Air con would have been appreciated and is needed here
Bed was comfortable location didn't get his name but young man in restaurant was very helpful regarding takeaway coffee and breakfast sandwich
Lack of plug sockets think should be a handle to hold onto when getting in and out of bath i know it's probably security but unable to open window much Would help if kettle actually had plug socket near tea making facilities
Easy to access and comfortable
Was to light and warm
