Comfortable bed
Looks hideous from the outside (I almost refused to stay), dated and tired inside - carpets all ripped, wallpaper is old). Expensive for what it is Need to drive or get public transport into the city centre.
Lovely staff members. All very helpful. Quiet hotel. Comfy bed.
A bit dated. Very hot in room.. though luckily found the fan.
Terrible for the price
Back in time
Service from staff
The room was not very clean.
The aircon was coming on and blowing out hot air so we didn’t get much sleep and had a 7 hour drive to do, staff just said sorry about that when I went to reception twice about it
Comfortable
Bathroom tiles had mould patches near taps
Location
Booking error, I was given room with already somebody inside.
Very comfortable and spacious bed, good shower and very welcome very good. The check in person helped with our luggage and showed us to our room.
All fine. No complaints.
Ideal location for our business trip, massive bed and delicious breakfast
Parking spaces filled up quickly
Check in was all good and plenty of parking available. Room was a good size and nice and clean. Bed was comfortable.

: 5/5 – Excellent stay while house-hunting in Norfolk My wife and I stayed for two nights at the Mercure Norwich while we were securing a property as part of our move from Devon to Norfolk. The hotel made the whole process so much easier. A special thank you to Catherine and Kayleigh on reception – they were friendly, helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Their warm service set the tone for a really comfortable stay. The room was clean and comfortable, the location was convenient for viewing properties, and everything ran smoothly from check-in to check-out. We’ll definitely recommend the Mercure Norwich to anyone visiting the area. Highly recommended – thank you Catherine, Kayleigh, and the whole team!
The room stunk of smoke.. the floors was filfy and full of hair
“What I liked about the hotel was that it was quiet, and the beds were very comfortable.”
The hotel was very outdated, the cleanliness was poor, and the customer service was inconsistent.” This hotel needs some attention to detail.
Location
My keycard did work 2 out of the 3 days
I liked that you could park easily and it was easy to find. Hotel was clean and comfortable.
The decor is a bit dated .
Very friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable bed and a lovely breakfast.
Very dated and could do with modernisation.
lovely staff upon check in
The communal areas were covered in dust and needed a hoover. In our room the two water had clearly been sitting in a tank and/or old plumbing and was not safe to drink - drinking this water led to one of us getting very ill. The pictures on the advert do not reflect the actual hotel whatsoever and I would go as far to say we were completely catfished. Our room was lacking very much so, although clean, looked like something out of a 60’s ymca. Our window also did not open in the room and the air con also didn’t work. The shower was also covered in limescale.
The staff were very friendly (both on reception and at breakfast). The breakfast was excellent; there was a huge variety and it was all fresh. We liked the cans on water in the room.
The room was fine although the shower grout had some orange and black patches which was unpleasant, and the decor was dated.
Staff are friendly and helpful just need a tidy up on the outside and perhaps a few new carpet in the hallways, but overall I was happy
Absolutely perfect stay! Spotless room, amazing service, and Kayleigh at the front desk made everything so smooth and special.
Under Accor standards. Needs modernisation
Location is what we wanted
Carpets could do with a major clean we went for the better room with coffee maker in but no pods we asked about them but there was none only a small issue tho
Staff were friendly, food was nice, breakfast was lovely
Couldn't work the waterfall shower, room was hot with window open and fan on, bed was comfy but being hot in room had a restless night
Excellent good value breakfast. Service and replenishing food items was very good. This hotel has the basics right, ie cleanliness and service and communication.
Toilet roll was difficult to reach whilst sitting on the toilet. Soap holder was not close enough to the sink, poor positioning. My main gripe was that the hand held shower did not work and I needed this due to my disability. The shower should have been reported before we were allocated it. This hotel is in desperate need for a complete refurbishment. We didn't like the builders mugs, not appropriate for a hotel like Mercure.
Breakfast very good coffee excellent
Furniture a little tired
Comfortable beds large room powerful shower excellent breakfast zero
The staff were all very friendly, helpful and polite which was a good thing. A slightly disparate group though. Air conditioning in the room although this is locked at 19 degrees. Free parking and location.
the actual hotel is very dated and in need of a refurbishment. The room was quite small for the size of the bed. Needs to have sockets and charging ports next to the bed. Bathroom quite small with an over bath shower which leaked out of the screen. Walk in showers would be so much better, easier and safer. The breakfast was rather disappointing. The fruit was cut up into small chunks instead of slices, there wasn’t much left when we went in at 8 am. The bacon was not cooked enough and the sausage was awful. The juice containers were all empty and eventually refilled but too late for us. Just a poor selection all round. Rather overpriced for the quality of hotel.
Frühstück
Zwei Übernachtungen, zwei Personen - nur 2 Handtücher im Bad. AC auf 19 Grad voreingestellt
Very comfortable beds and a good size
The lamps were right behind your head when sitting up, in bed.
Stayed at the Mercure hotel Norwich, met with a smile from Kayleigh behind the front desk. Room was clean and tidy. Will definitely be staying here again
Location
Nothing
Meg my expectations
Feels a little dated
Staff are super friendly and helpful especially Georgie and Kayleigh. Breakfast gave a good start to the day. My only criticism was no lift - - even the ground floor still had about 6 or 7 steps - not so great if you have a walking disability. Otherwise for a stopover for a few days hotel did its job.
Reception staff were extremely polite, friendly and helpful.
Very little choice for gluten free food, no decaf tea or coffee available.
Retro, Like going back in time.
Staying here once a month and I am looked after so well - especially by Catherine and the Front of House team. Rooms are clean and functional with everything you’d expect and, a total bonus of air con in mine with outside temperatures of 35 degrees!
Good location, friendly staff
Nothing to dislike
Another great 2 week stay at the Mercure Hotel Norwich, I looked forward to my cool comfortable room every evening in the extreme hot weather. The air conditioning was fabulous. The Staff & cleaners work so hard to make sure all guests needs are attended to. I would like to mention a few of the staff who made my stay comfortable, Erin, Cat & Kayleigh on reception, Megan & Nicky on the bar, Jack & Chloe for room service & Julie & Jelvin in the restaurant for Breakfast. Great warm friendly team at the Mercure. See you all next time.
Easy to find, plenty of parking, great location. Real cleanm friendly greeting. All in all a good budget hotel.
had a good stay at the hotel great service from craig on the desk friendly staff good food and choices to choose from on evening meals and good breakfast facility’s great hotel around would stay again and recommend the hotel in the area good experience
It was easy to find.
The rooms are really tired. There was mould on the walls around the windows, I was woken by water dripping from the air con unit onto the bedside table. The bathroom needed a good clean, black mould around tiles and the shower had mould around it.
I didn’t like that there was no lift. The room was fine but too hot. Breakfast was ok, dinner was decent too.
Disabled parking
No choice of Gluten free food. No fridge in room.
Very disappointed with Mercure. Have used them before and have always been lovely. This one however is tired, dated and in need of a refurb. The carpets were grubby and room was a little shabby. On the plus side the staff were friendly and bedding was clean. Location was ok -Atmosphere was lacking somewhat. I would say this is a hotel that would be best suited for business stopover. Paid £185 for Sat & Sun overnight stay breakfast incl. Wont book to stay here again though.
Location
No lift
Beds were comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful
The original room we were given smelt so bad, it was like a mixture of burnt plastic, cigarette smoke and body odour. Tried opening the window to see if it helps and didn’t make a difference, we asked for a different room which the staff were happy to accommodate but it wasn’t cleaned properly there was marks on the toilet and bath. Toiletries had to be provided upon request and there was no tissue box in the room. The hotel doesn’t have a lift and it’s incredibly dated and run down. Definitely not a 4 star by any means. The staff however were helpful and friendly so couldn’t fault them but overall, not the best experience.
Central to UEA for graduation. Bed was very comfortable air con worked well, shower was really good. Breakfast was really nice!!!
Can’t think of anything we didn’t like or can fault.
I've stayed at the Mercure Norwich a few times now and it's always been a great experience. The air-conditioned rooms were an absolute lifesaver in the recent hot weather, making for a really comfortable night's sleep. Even though I arrived late, check-in was quick, friendly and efficient. The breakfast is one of the highlights, with a fantastic selection of hot and cold options and plenty to choose from. Overall, it's a reliable hotel with comfortable rooms, great service and an excellent breakfast. I'd happily stay here again.
Very welcoming, all rooms were ready for early check in
Nothing
Stayed as I was attending a workshop in the hotel. Comfortable bed. Good parking. Staff very pleasant.
Rather dated. Carpets worn in places. But ok for one night.
It’s location
There was no lift, partner has mobility issues and had to walk up flights of stairs
No outside space
good size room, very comfortable bed and air conditioning was wonderful. Friendly and helpful staff
Had to move tv to access aircon switch (on and off power switch on wall only). Remote would have been better as we needed to turn it off in the night. Trouble with room card. First attempt wouldn't work any way round. Had to go back down stairs to reception to get it sorted and the communal areas were very hot so it was annoying. When we returned at night-time we had the same issue (although we may not have tried it both ways that time to be fair, as we were tired). After returning to reception to get it sorted a member of staff followed us back up and showed us a tiny arrow on the card, which we would never have noticed. A larger arrow would be helpful. Noisy staff woke us up at 4am sorting out a room and talking very loudly!
Loved the room and Close to pub
Room really needs a revamp as looks dated
We had a lovely two-night stay at the Mercure Norwich Hotel. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed for a relaxing break. All of the staff were friendly, welcoming, and always happy to help, making us feel well looked after throughout our stay. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of hot and cold options, and the hotel was in a convenient location with plenty of parking. Overall, it offered great value for money, and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again. Thank you to the whole team for making our visit so enjoyable! Kathrine behind the reception was really lovely and helpfull.
Arrived at the hotel, was warmly greeted by the reception staff (Catherine). They explained about all of the amenities and restraunt timings. The room was clean and tidy, and the big bonus was the A/C that was in the room, as the weather was hit.
Quite convenient for getting around Norwich without going into the centre. Handy for visiting places to north and west, and the airport.
Poor situation at entrance to a commercial estate. Dropped food on carpet in restaurant when we arrived. We informed waitress immediately. Dropped food ( a breakfast sausage) was still there by Table 28 when we had our final breakfast three days later, together with bits of pastry from a previous day's breakfast left on the carpet in clear view. The staircase leading to the first floor were not kept clean. The same dirt was left on them for at least a couple of days. There was no toilet brush in the bathroom, and the double toilet roll holder was inexplicably mounted below knee height, adjacent to the wc, instead of at the side, higher up. The metal wall-mounted lamps over the bed were far too too low, and we both banged our heads on them when sitting up in bed. The food available in the Brasserie was disappointing. Luckily we found a great pub in nearby Eaton, which served really good food, so we had our evening meal there three times during our four night stay.
Staff very friendly
Hotel old and dilapidated. Carpets, furniture, everything in the rooms is knackered. In complete need of an overhaul.
The room was exceptional spatious and clean.
The staff were friendly
It’s very dated, cracked and a bit grimy in places. Can’t change temp on the aircon. Light pull in the bathroom was frayed and dirty
It was comfortable. East to find. Food was nicer People were very friendly and helpful
No lift
Location, room and staff was lovely
Food in restraunt was over priced and poor. Half the items was off the menu and the food received was overcooked and not pleasant. Ended up eating out.
Air con didn't work, not the standard of other Mercure hotels I have stayed in
Good value for the money

The hotel was lovely and really suited our needs visiting family, excellent location, staff were so lovely especially Julie at breakfast time. Food was lovely and amazing selection all sorts in the morning. Will definitely be staying again.

Air conditioning was a god send in this heat wave we just had. Clean room, comfortable beds, tea and coffee. Hotel is very dated but the rooms were spacious and had everything we needed.
Space facilities staff
Old!!
The staff were so lovely and so helpful
No air conditioning. Our room was so, so, so hot that it made us feel quite unwell and we had only a couple of hours sleep. It was unfortunate that there was a heatwave at the time. For the price I would expect a hotel with Aircon especially as we were placed upstairs. The window opening was tiny. We were so uncomfortable we nearly considered sleeping in our car in the carpark. The staff were lovely and did their best. Just a shame that the hotel is so dated. Our stay should have been a bit cheaper in my opinion. The food is expensive as well. I'm sure if there wasn't a heatwave at that time we might have been more comfortable.
A pleasant surprise on checking in was finding that my room had air conditioning, which made a big difference to my stay. After a busy week, I enjoyed the most comfortable night's sleep I've had in days, with a quiet room and a very comfortable bed. I woke up feeling refreshed, recharged, and ready for the day ahead. A great stay, and I would happily return to the Mercure Norwich.
Room itself was fine. Good bed. Liked the water for drinking as well as the usual tea/coffee making facilities. The shower and bathroom was of a high standard. Breakfast was ok but nothing special. Overal, a good price for three nights.
Lack of air conditioning in the room was a bit of an issue. It spoiled the stay and was really noticeable as it was so hot. I understand that the hotel is being refurbished and all rooms will have it.
So disappointed that the swimming pool was out of use. Breakfast good. I've stayed before and I knew what to expect but without the pool I wouldn't come again.
Not told beforehand or when checking in there was no pool. Should've been given the option of cancelling but not a word was said and I had to pay before I got my key.
Staff friendliness (particularly the girl at the desk - helped me to search for bus to city centre). Comfortable bed. Air conditioned. Clean room. Plenty of parking spaces
The ironing facility didn’t work. No electric plug next to the bed. Safety box didn’t work either
Location was good apart from you can hear lita of cars as it’s by a busy main road. Had to have window open as it was hot. Didn’t have breakfast there but seemed busy. Bed were huge and quite comfy. Staff were all nice and friendly
It’s abit out dated, our room needed updated and painted. We only were given 1 towel for bathroom. Limited tea coffee and not enough milk for the mornings.
recently stayed at the Mercure Norwich for 7 nights and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel was comfortable, welcoming, and provided everything I needed for an enjoyable stay. It was especially lovely to see Kayleigh back on the front desk. She is always friendly, professional, and goes out of her way to make guests feel welcome. Craig was also an absolute delight as usual—his warm personality, excellent customer service, and genuine care for guests really stand out and make a difference. The whole team helped create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere throughout my stay, and their hard work is greatly appreciated. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for another memorable visit. I look forward to returning again soon!
Nice stay. Staff able to refund bfast, as not needed
Dated hotel generally all round. Needs a revamp to show Mercures reputation.
Location was good and so was parking. Breakfast plentiful.
They only have Pepsi Max in the bar. We hate diet drinks, why would you limit options to only diet! We didn't for drinks because of this.
Good accommodation, comfortable stay, good breakfast and very pleasant staff
A little tired and in need of some updating but not a problem for a short stay
Breakfast was excellent, a great selection of hit and cold. Everything refilled quickly.
The only problem I had with my room was the toilet. It sometimes took 12 or more pumps to flush. The staff did what they could but I think it needed a plumber to sort it out.
Plenty free parking
No tea making facilities in room
Niet schoon en niet fris
I had booked the City Suite at the Hotel for an evening dinner dance function and was given the option of a room for the night which I decided to take up. Gill, the Events Manager at the Hotel, was extremely helpful in sorting out my event and room booking for both myself and friends. I was very fortunate to have been given an upgrade to a suite which was lovely. The evening function went very well, access to the room for the band went smoothly as did all the functions planning with tables and advanced food orders etc. A big thank you again to Gill for the prior arrangements and to Chloe who ensured the evening function went smoothly and to our plans. Chloe’s team did a great job too and thanks to her team on the evening including Craig, Emma, Megan, Alex, Lucas, Hannah and Evie. The night spent at the Hotel was very comfortable and it was lovely to have the additional space of the suite, it had all the expected room facilities and services and breakfast in the morning was excellent. If I had one minor criticism it would be that the bar in the City Suite was not well stocked in 0% or low alcohol beverages, Guinness 0% and 0% gin was on display but not available to purchase. A member of staff did go to one of the other hotel bars and brought back some elderflower presse for a guest. Other than the usual coke and soft drinks the options were limited but perhaps not have them on display if they are not available. Other than that a truly excellent evening and stay. Thank you.
Staff were so friendly and helped with anything you needed. Breakfast had a good selection and loads to choose from. Everything was clean inside.
The property was very dated. The building on the outside looked worse for wear. Mitch match carpet in places. Dirty windows and paint flaking.

I recently stayed at the Mercure Hotel Norwich and had a wonderful experience. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and provided everything needed for a relaxing stay. What really stood out was the exceptional customer service from the staff. A special mention goes to Cath on reception, who was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful throughout my visit. She went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect and her warm, professional manner made a real difference to my stay. It's always the people who make a hotel memorable, and Cath is a fantastic ambassador for the Mercure. Thank you to her and the whole team for such a pleasant experience. I would happily stay here again and highly recommend the hotel to others visiting Norwich.
Great service and Immaculate
Great hotel amazing staff so friendly and helpful good location
The staff were brilliant
The corridors and circulation areas could do with a refurb. Clean and tidy but a little tired
Great stay for over a week, staff have been fantastic, hotel very clean and tidy. Would recommend
The hotel is comfortable and clean. Large car park as well. Great for events in the area.
It’s really tired. Definitely needs some money spent on it to bring it up to standard.
Good breakfast
Another great stay at the mercure norwich. Great to see Kayleigh back at the front desk helping out and giving a fantastic service. Looking forward to my next stay.
Evening meal was good. I stayed for 1 night due to work and really enjoyed myself. Hotel staff Abbie, Robin, Kat, Emma, Kayleigh, Trisha and Megan are welcoming and helpful
Just had a wonderful stay at the Mercure Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable with great amenities. The whole hotel was very welcoming. Special thanks to Kayleigh at reception, she was great and very helpful throughout my stay! Highly recommend, hotel is inna great location and not too far from the city centre.
I had the pleasure of staying at Norwich mecure in May 2026, my experience was good . From the moment I walked in, I was greeted from Catherine which set a positive tone. The room I stayed in was clean. The bed was incredibly comfortable, making it easy to relax after a long day. I also enjoyed breakfast at the hotel's restaurant, where the variety of options was impressive and the quality exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is another significant advantage. Close to the airport and walking distance into the city. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay at Norwich Mecure. recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel near the airport.
I stay here regularly with work and can honestly say that it's the staff that make the stay enjoyable. From reception, catering and house keeping, everyone can't do enough for you, nothings ever to much trouble.
The 150 'Sons of the Desert' - Laurel and Hardy fans from UK, Europe and USA, held a Convention at the Hotel Mercure, Norwich in early May. The event was planned over the precious 18 months. Our aim is to always have fun and enjoy the 3 day weekend. All of the staff ensured that our aim (and beyond) was achieved with their politeness and friendliness. I have attended over 20 L&H Convention and this one was the tops. FOOD - This was outstanding. we were given a choice of three starters, three main and three sweets. The food was absolutely delicious With all our activities in the hotel, the staff were generous in their time in helping to move things and arrange tables, chairs and equipment. This was much appreciated. The rooms were most comfortable and spacious. I would like to thanks everyone who helped make this an unforgettable weekend. Roger Robinson
I had planned a very late arrival due to going straight onto a night shift, and the hotel was extremely accommodating, even in the early hours of the morning. A really nice and unexpected touch was being upgraded, which made a big difference and helped me properly reset before work. The room was comfortable, quiet, and ideal for getting some rest despite the unusual hours. Excellent service and thoughtful staff – I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again, especially if travelling on an awkward schedule.
Location on a trading estate but really quiet and perfectually situated for days out .room clean and large room 49 out the back. And very large bed very comfortable .
I (German) stayed in the hotel on a private convention for three nights with breakfast and evening meals. We had a superb stay and weekend. Especially the food was excellent and the service was very professional. I need gluten free support which was served with care. The hotel is easily accessible by car (in my case by Dover ferry terminals, free parking available) and nearby Norwich airport (for other Germans, via KLM - Amsterdam, walking distance with minimum luggage). Access to Norwich from hotel is possible by bus (lines 28 and 29), taxi (about 10 GBP) or a very nice walk mostly along the picturesque river Wensum (45-60 min depending on your speed). Norwich is worth a visit, the Cathedral (so much details to see!), the Castle, Pubs and other things in the town and outside Norwich visiting the Broads (river tour recommended!) and Dad's Army museum in Thedford. Some people blame the hotel not to be "in top conditions", but for our opinion everything was OK for this type of standard and the stuff is as I said professional, very friendly and helpful.
Stayed overnight with my wife whilst looking at properties around Norfolk. Large spacious room with large comfy bed. Abbey on reception was very knowledgeable on areas we were exploring properties with a view to moving to the area. Great evening meal with lots of choice. Excellent breakfast. Plenty of parking free.
