Location was perfect, a 5 minute walk into the city centre. All major attractions within comfortable walking distance from this hotel. The car park at the rear of the hotel was a major bonus.
An additional chair in the bedroom, my wife had the only chair, I had to sit on the bed. Bedside lights let the room down, I’ve had candles that were brighter than these two lights.
This is a very individual hotel that has been serving Norwich visitors for decades. The standard room was large, well appointed. Everything worked well shower, TV and yes good lighting. Breakfast was first class, good quality items, buffet with table service for hot food; good vegetarian options. Staff friendly and efficient. Location is perfect on the Lanes with access to historic Norwich centre.
Some furnishings had a little heat staining from hot cups etc. I think management is relatively new so must be working through these things.
Very nice hotel with elegant ambience and very good breakfast and restaurant in a central location near the Guildhall and Market Square.
The temperature in the hotel was on the warm side.
Central location, lovely helpful staff and a tasty breakfast!
Some features are a little tired
Good breakfast - variety of items. No reason to order extra cooked breakfast which was offered.
Goeie locatie, fijn hotel, vriendelijk personeel en prima eten.
What an experience! Classic historic environment, beautiful place, right in the hart of centre and most kind and frienfly staff. Best breakfast ever included
We liked it all, not any complaints here!
Perfekte Lage im Zentrum, bester Parkplatz, sehr gutes Frühstück.
Im Bad des Zi 10 war leider ein störender Uringeruch wahrnehmbar.
Very welcoming and comfortable.Quiet road with plenty of parking
Nothing adverse at all
Very interesting old building with a great restaurant
The directions to the car park are hard to understand so we had to leave the car in a town car park and walk to their car park so we knew where to go
Lovely old building centrally located. Comfortable room and whilst the car park is not the easiest to find the instructions provided were clear and to have a car park located in the centre was a real bonus. An the Irish theme of the restaurantProvided just what we needed did extend to Green Spot Irish Whiskey - another bonus!
Excellent location for city and walking distance for theatre
Noisy at night due to room being at rear of property. We could here the rear access door form carpark constantly banging shut as no soft close arrester. Noise stopped after midnight lock up.
All was good. We have stayed here before and it is an excellent hotel, lovely entrance and good sized rooms. Bathrooms interesting as each room is different. Parking available in safe good sized car-park with EV charging. Relly friendly staff and fantastic breakfast.
Fantastic location, great food and fantastic staff
Very good breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful staff. Large comfortable room.
The hotel needs some TLC. With a modest renovation it would not look as worn or tired.
Staff lovely. Has towel animals a wonderful bonus. Paint chipped in parts but didn’t felt it reduced our enjoyment
Being picky, better decor
The location was great and only a short walk from city centre and attractions
Location was ideal
Breakfasts were fantastic. The location is perfect, close to the centre but not near any noisy pubs. The newly renovated restaurant and bar were lovely. The staff are very friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast was a 9 out of 10. Fantastic food.
Nothing really.
Friendly helpful staff, generous breakfast portions, good quality ingredients. Excellent TV with wi-fi. Air conditioning welcome during heatwave.
Very friendly staff, our room was big and comfortable. Breakfast was made to order and well presented. Will be staying there again on next visit.
Beautiful
Close to city & great food & staff
Great location and lovely staff.
The location of the room on the ground floor.
Close to city centre. Good breakfast.
Car park was not easy to find. It’s at the back of the hotel. What 3 Words location would be helpful.
Location, amenities, staff and comfort
In house restaurant breakfast service slow and dinner menu slightly expensive
Great room, great breakfast and lovely staff. Beautiful building
Some of the furniture could do with a spruce up in the room.
Very attentive, polite and professional staff. Always helpful.
The hotel is very good, but the price is high for what is offered.
Lovely venue very classy
Fantastic location, room was very large as was the bathroom, shower very large. Staff very helpful. Breakfast had an interesting menu. (Irish influenced)
My first choice breakfast was sold out and my second choice whilst fine, the poached eggs were hard and I would have preferred them to be runny.
Quirky, location and great breakfast
Bit grubby, outdated facilities,

Comfortable bed, great location in city centre, parking and splendid breakfast
Location and breakfast
Room decor was terrible but we were given a full refund
Lovely clean comfortable room. Evening dinner food really nicely presented and very tasty.
Cooked breakfast just ok. Evening menu limited. Lift to room noisy and shaking.
Lovely atmosphere. Helpful and pleasant. Very good breakfast. Clean room.
Very comfortable, good location and courteous staff, great breakfast and service altogether
I liked everything except that the Restorant was closed for dinner on Sunday but the advert sign for dinner was still out when we left early in the day. We walked 45 min across town to try some of the specials which looked interesting, just to be told that the Restorant is closed on Sunday. But why the advert that it is open??
Fantastic old historical room but with all modern comforts
Its an old building, and some of the corridors / stairs have a more old fashioned, run down feeling
Stunning architecture, great location, fab staff, beautiful nights sleep followed by tasty breakfast, buzzy Friday night bar if that’s your thing
Close to town
Finding the car park, sat nav kept taking us to a pedestrian zone
Die Lage ist super zentral.
Der Preis für das Hotelzimmer war zu hoch. Mein Zimmer war direkt an der Strasse, mit starker und langer Sonneneinstrahlung. Es war unmöglich, im Zimmer zu verweilen.
Amazing building with a lot of history and beautiful decor and furnishings throughout. Our room/suite was spacious and felt really luxurious and made for a very special stay. Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming and the breakfast was superb. We didn't get around to visiting the restaurant for dinner but that's going on the list for next time as the menu looks fab and it's great to see Irish cuisine centred with refined takes on hearty classics. No air con (I imagine it's a real challenge to install it in an historic building) but the fan in the room was brilliant and kept us cool overnight. Really impressed - we'll be back!
Super friendly and helpful staff and the lobby, restaurant of the area is lovely and in a very central location!
Whilst our room was immaculately clean there were a lot of paint chips and marks all over the skirting boards which whilst only a minor aesthetic issue did make the room appear more budget than it actually was.
Great spot day access to everything in Norwich, convenient parking, which you have to pay for.
Nothing really, seems to be undergoing a refresh, which will be good when completed.
Great location, friendly a d helpful staff, nice spacoius room.
The breakfast portions were inconsistent - one cook opting to give less than the other - who else serves half a mushroom lol?!
Central location. Lovely room. The staff were great.
Nothing!
The staff were very good. The bar and terrace were comfortable. The hotel has a charming quirkiness.
Godt beliggende hotel med venligt, kompetent personale. Hotellet er smukt indrettet. Dejlig stemning.
En morgenmadsmulighed med toast, ost og grøntsag, f.eks. tomat.
Delicious breakfast and superb menu. The manager was ever present and highly attentive. I was impressed by the staff training and the general care shown to guests.
Better pillows.
Amazing hotel, beautiful restoration of the building. Brilliant room and unbelievable bathroom. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Can't wait to return.
Staff were very efficient and friendly
A very welcoming hotel in a great, central location. All staff were very friendly and helpful, especially the breakfast crew. The breakfast was generous, varied and of a high standard. Our room, number 6, was lovely and cool due to the efficiency of the air-con. It was spacious with a large walk-in shower. The bed was large and comfortable. The bed linen was clean and soft. I slept so well after a long day in Norwich. This was a return visit, and one of many!
The difficulties in finding the car park, despite being warned by the hotel, we were prepared, but failed miserably. A map location pin/link would be greatly appreciated! And where the lift drops you off for reception is not well signposted. These 2 negatives were a very minor blip, and mentioned only for hotel feedback purposes.
All of it
I specifically requested a room with air-conditioning when I arrived this was not the case. I asked to be moved rooms but they were fully booked. I also asked for an extra fan. No one came back to me. I had to leave the property at 3 am because I felt extremely ill. I’ve requested a refund but no one is communicating with me.
The location was great and the female staff were excellent. The third night in an air conditioned room was so much better. Breakfast was good.
Room 18 was totally unfit for purpose. It reached 44 degrees on the first night and 38 degrees C on the second night. A small fan was provided, but the windows could not be opened due to the room opening directly onto the street. If the room is available during such hot days, a portable air conditioner is essential. Much poorer countries have far superior cooling provisions. If we hadn’t already paid we would have left within the first hour. The check in staff knew this was an issue, but ignored it. They were more concerned about how hot and difficult their day had been. The staff member who organised a room change and one other staff member confirmed that they would have hated that room too. Apart from the size of the room, a backpacker’s place would have been just as good for less than a quarter of the cost. Coming from Australia we are used to the heat, but not a four star hotel room that woefully hot. The curtains didn’t even close fully to block the sun out.
De ligging en inrichting van het hotel
I loved the staff that i did meet as they are very friendly to me and my partner
I can't say there was much i didnt like apart from the food prices but its understandable its a fancy hotel so i'm not gonna complain really.
Lage ist perfekt. Altes Gebäude mit Stil. Personal äußerst freundlich. Gutes Frühstück. Gute Betten. Geräumiges Zimmer und Bad. Gute Dusche. Gute Klimaanlage.
Alter Teppichboden voller Flecken, welches ein Gefühl von Unsauberkeit vermittelt. Badezimmerspiegel schlecht ausgelichtet. Kein Kühlschrank im Zimmer.
Great location, staff, food and value for money.
It was a perfect location for everything we needed to see
When we first arrived in Norwich, we struggled to find the property. Nothing to do with the property at all just the road management.
Staff very friendly & accommodating. A pleasure to stay. Great location in the city.
Nothing
Staff. Ambience. Room great.
No fridge in room. Breakfast slightly disappointing. Poached eggs over-cooked..Bacon like shoe leather.
The room was large and clean, with large bath towels. The room had the usual selection of tea and coffee but also as a bonus hot chocolate which was a pleasant surprise. Breakfast was very good and the staff very friendly and helpful.
Given the price of the room I was expecting there to be bathrobes and slippers so was disappointed to find there weren’t any.
Excellent location minutes from center of city. Foid was great, staff attentive , great service. Rooms cleaned and madeup wvery day. Loved our stay.
Norwich hillier than expected, at nearly 80 I struggled a bit but my wife and I walked 6 hours a day.
Location was excellent, all the staff were welcoming, efficient and really helpful. Lounge, bar and restaurant were excellent although we thought the rooms could benefit from a little update and perhaps the odd picture or two. The kitchen was very accommodating, breakfast was excellent with a good choice, lunchtime meal was excellent and the wine selection was sensible, well priced and very good.
The lift has seen better days!
A well positioned hotel for getting around the city. The bed was extremely comfortable
Stains on the room carpet. The lift appeared to need some attention
Beautiful old building but with spacious rooms. Our room was very quiet , well laid out and extremely spacious both the room and en-suite. Position for the city is excellent. A good choice for breakfast with very friendly staff.
Paying extra for parking on an already fairly expensive hotel feels harsh but as it is so close to the city I am guessing parking is a premium.
We regularly stay at this hotel because of it's location. You are central to the city and everything it has to offer. The staff are always very friendly and welcoming. Check in is an easy process. Breakfast is brilliant with a great selection and your ordered food comes out well cooked and presented.
The hotel is under new-ish owners and is still in the middle of refurbishment. The room that we stayed in this time didn't appear to have been refurbished but it had had a deep clean as we have stayed in this room before. Although the room was a little tired it was spotlessly clean....2 small issues. There needs to be a black out blind fitted as the sun comes into the room which means you are awake very early in the summer. The shower doors are poorly designed. There is a gap along the bottom so water escape onto the bathroom floor making it wet and potentially dangerous
excellent location, just 5 minutes from the Theatre. The staff where very helpful and we got a lovely upgraded room. We had a lovely breakfast and there was something for everyone. When we booked out we were able to leave our car in the car park until mid afternoon, giving us plenty of time to look round Norwich. All in all a very good stay
Great location- very centrally placed. Good choice for breakfast and nice bar area
Rooms definitely need updating. Could have been cleaner- bathroom okay but dust on furniture
Very helpful staff polite food was exceptional
No faults
Excellent location for the castle, market cathedral, shops and eateries.
Looking a little bit tired.
what an amazing hotel. hubby had no idea as it was a surprise date night. When we arrived and walked in his chin dropped to the floor. Grade listed 1 building steeped in histroy and refurbished to that eara. The staff were very friendly and made you feel extra special. Wow had the best nights sleep, the bedroom it just blew my mind. Really good size all the cons. bed was so comfy and so big it was fantastic. the breakfast, you really have to try. fresh local produce, delicious. i count fault a thing. Sitiated in the centre of the city. a hide gem.
nothing
Great location, welcoming and very friendly staff
Central location
Access to car park
High quality everywhere, including staff.
Room 19 hot and can’t bring in fresh air without bringing in pollution and noise
Excellent position ( paid) parking dog friendly rooms (extra charge) comfortable rooms and friendly staff!
Nothing
Welcoming professional hi standard
Breakfast
The air conditioner was too noisy to sleep through so we had to open the window. Other guests were noisy and knocked on our door in the night.
I was a bit underwhelmed at the breakfast, despite filling in my food intolerances before my stay , they had no gluten free bread to offer me for my breakfast 🙁
Noise from the bar late at night
Location very central. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was quiet , comfortable and spacious. Breakfast was lovely.
Bathroom extractor didn’t seem to work , apart from that everything was fine.
We liked having two comfortable chairs in the bedroom. The staff were all very friendly. Nice bar to sit in and outside terrace. Great location
The bedroom carpet and decor needed attention
Comfortable room, good breakfast, excellent location
Strong smell of cleaning fluids in the bedroom
Spacious room and ensuite.
Great location great size rooms
Parking hard to find
Excellent location staff were extremely friendly delivering exceptional service Food was very good and very good value very good breakfast Well stocked bar with great bar staff Will definitely stay again
Everything was great
Everything Calm, peaceful, clean, friendly staff and central location. Loved it.
A lovely hotel in a great location. The staff were quite fabulous and amongst the best anywhere. The room was large, comfy, and a little quirky; we were impressed. The bed was perfect, even in the hot weather.
The room booked was at the top of the hotel, going up and down over a number of staircases. There is not a lift to the upper floors and access would be very difficult for even the slightly impaired. The restaurant was not open on the night we were there, which was a shame, but there is a very good steak restaurant just opposite.
Location, ambience, history of building
No full length mirror in bedroom, shower door didn’t fit causing puddles on floor. Headboard on bed was awkward with ‘wings’ which meant it was difficult to use bedside units. Small reception gives appearance of being temporary
The breakfast and the dinner, the vibe of the place.
No lift to our room and the map to the car park, needs to be sent in advance.
Very central, nice size room
Room was a bit dated the bathroom felt a bit clinical
Lovely independent hotel in a central location for Norwich city. Clean and excellent staff.
Slightly dated in areas but there’s a refurb underway.
Close to centre of the city
The member of staff who booked us in was rude and unfortunately it seemed was having a bad day. There was no hair drier in our room and I had to ask twice for one be sent up.
Great location , beautiful building.
Little bit dated in parts but overall lovely
Room was spacious and comfortable. Location was perfect.
Terrific conversation of an old building
The 1960s part is very average
The location and the restaurant was amazing.
I like everything about the property, I’m a return guest.
