Best Western Plus Waterfront Hotel

Air conditoning/heater was very noisy... I called front desk, seemed the lady was rushed and wanted to cut off the conversation. Property looks very dated and smells humid.

Systems were down at the time of check-in, waited nearly an hour to get room. Cobwebs noticed in corners of windows. Otherwise OK, rooms could be updated.

A quick one night to support friends event in nearby Detroit. Room, view, and location was terrific. Guest services were terrific. I left drivers license at desk and they quickly called me back. Everything first class.

Hello Another outstanding exoerience, at the Best Western, Riverside Drive, West. The River Room Restaurant, on the second floor, offers 5 Star gourmet, fine dining, morning to late night. The view of the Detroit River, from my room, was beautiful!;!

Pros:Great location, excellent view, reasonable price. Cons: breakfast not included in price, and mattress was to soft for our liking.

overall, the room was is decent condition. the toilet was not anchored to the floor, actually moved.

I loved the room and the view

Hotel very well located, on the waterfront, the room had a beatiful view. but we had problems with the oilet that did not flush all the time and the sink took minutes before emptying. The hotel is old and would need renovations.

We were on the top floor with a great view of the Detroit River. We also loved the restaurant

other than waiting for 2 hours to check in as their system was down - the stay was very nice.

There was an issue with my credit card at check in. Eventhough the room was paid for, they wouldn't let us check in. They would not exept any other form of payment. So we drove 4 hours for nothing. Very disappointed. Had to drive 4 hours back home in the middle of the night. Waste of time

It was great. Best mattress ever!!

Hotel computers were down, check in staff had no sense of urgency to check in the lineup of customers. Also found out they gave discounts to some customers that complained but the one who didn’t got nothing.

After missing my last train, I decided to book this hotel through Expedia. I booked and paid in full online with my visa debit. Shortly after I arrived at the front desk to check into my fully paid for room. The only thing left is to leave $100.00 deposit. I offer cash or visa debit. To which I am told deposit can ONLY be major credit card. No other options! I offered cash in excess of the $100 dollar requirement, I just wanted to sleep in the room that had already been paid for debited from my account. Not only was my reservation not honored, my payment was not returned. I stll had to find a hotel after midnight in an unknown city! NOT ACCEPTABLE! EXPEDIA THIS WONT BE THE FIRST TIME YOU HAVE ROBBED ME BUT IT IS THE LAST! BEST WESTERN< DO BETTER! DISGUSTED!

The hotel is clean & ideally placed the only downside is the extra fee for parking which is in a multi story park behind the hotel across the street. I can’t remember the price but all hotels need to be more transparent with parking descriptions. I’ve started looking on google earth to check if there is land for cars around hotels now before I book if there isn’t you can almost guarantee extra charges for the privilege to park.

The sink was cracked in several places and the toilet didn’t flush properly. We had to lift the lid on the toilet tank a few times to adjust the mechanism inside so the water would stop running.

The room was good with an amazing view. Its located by the river, so you're able to enjoy the Riverwalk. There are a few restaurants near by in walking distance.

Amazing hotel

I did not like the front desk clerk, he was very cold like. the ice machines were not working on the 4th and the 6th floor I had to go to the 8th floor to get ice, Ice machines should be on every floor. The room was nice with a great view.

Room was nice, staff were very friendly. It’s a good location downtown. No microwave in rooms, and the toilet plugged all the time.

There was a lot of dust , dirty . The fan for the A/C did not turn off . Too noisy all night!

We had a room with the panoramic view, which was amazing. The room itself you can tell that they need some desperate updating and renovation. As well the carpets in the hallways. Other than that a good one night stay.

Our room was grosser than a roadside motel. Old squishy carpet. Peeling wallpaper. Found black mould around the window. Nasty stains on the curtains. Yucky.

Great location close to the Ambassador Bridge; a Keg restaurant around the corner. Beware of sports teams - a girls baseball/softball tournament must be happening close by. So running in the halls, throwing ice, screaming and yelling from these special 11 - 13 year olds up until midnight.

There was some mold in the closet , itried to get an extra pillow but decided against it when i saw the mold, and the barth tub had some kind of dark stains , not quit sure what it was ? apart from that my stay was ok, I will stay again in a diffrent room.thank you

Excellent location and great views from the room. The bed was comforrable.The room could have used another chair. It would be better if parking was included and a discount on the breakfast. Also Best Western points should be given regardless how you book your stay.

Good location. Few inconveniences as the pool was under Reno’s and no microwave in the room which we didn’t plan for. But it was clean.

Clean enough for a night, but the dated carpets and worn interiors make it clear this place is overdue for a remodel.

My husband and I stayed here in July 2025 for a weekend. It was close to the casino and there is also an indoor Waterpark within walking distance. It’s also walking distance to a lot of great restaurants. The room was clean and comfortable.

The view was amazing. The location was great for what we had planned.

Decent location. Loved our water view. Hotel abit out dated. Elevator wasnt working when we first got there so had to take maintenance elevator and it was abit sketchy.

It was a pleasant experience. The view from the room was amazing. For being right downtown the room was amazing quiet. The water pressure was good for bathing. We enjoyed our stay.

I have been tonthis hotel many times (albeit not since covid) and the changes they've made is not good. The staff are on strike (understandably) and it shows. Inwony come back.

Only problem is they were in the middle of an employee strike. It was awkward

The view from our room was spectacular and everything was perfect. The only issue was that there was not parking available at the hotel as described. We had to park across the street and were told the fee would be the same. It was pretty inconvenient and we were glad we didn’t have much luggage. Also when we left the next morning the fee for parking was actually more.

Property is in need of updating. Room was especially in need of a renovation. Furniture, wallpaper and carpet all showing excessive wear and tear. Bathtub chips unprofessionally sealed and had not been cleaned properly so there was long hair in tub that was not ours! Very poor pillows, bed linen was wrinkled and not fitted correctly. Would NOT recommend this hotel.

The lobby is old and has an aura of past its time. Strike outside the lobby - had to cross it. swimming pool and I think exercise room closed. Amenities closed. Air vent not working at all in bathroom. Kleenex box had two sheets in it. Bathroom floor to tub and etc. crusted with old calking and dirty. Old bathroom. Staff cheerful. View excellent. Guard in lobby projects a suggestion of danger. Parking at $20 / a day, should be free. NO refund for the lack of all the advertised amenities - why not? Bed excellent. Most hotels provide free breakfast - we paid about $20 each for exactly the same food.

Staff on strike and pool and fitness area closed for renovations which was one of the reason we booked there.

I was here with my daughter to see Jeff Dunham’s show and it was great to be so close to the Casino he was at. It was walking distance and so were lots of pubs and restaurants. The walking trails along the Detroit River are really nice.

Water view room is the best, you will see Freighter ships travel up and down the connecting great lakes , plus the detroit downtown vista s are còls as well

Hotel was clean , staff member where pleasant. Downside was when we arrived we were met with a picket line saying they were on strike

Hotel is looking a bit run down and despite being across from the riverside park, the area feels unsafe. They do have a security guard at the back entrance (locking door was broken) however I don’t think was there half the time. Not sure if I would want to stay there again. I must say that the staff were very friendly.

The hotel is old, rooms are not very clean, walls are dirty, behind night table is full of dust, air conditioning is loud and the room is very damp. You have to pay for parking, not included in the price of the room ….surprise!

Good experience here. Convenient for delivery food.
