DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel London Ontario

Terrible hotel all around. There was mold everywhere, mainly in our bathroom (which had no fan to put on when showering, so the steam makes the mold worse) and in the pool ceiling area. Probably the worst hotel either of us has seen in a long time.

I sent in this review already, but for some reason it never posted. In short, the moment we entered the lobby and was greeted by Ayoub, he set the stage for the rest of our stay. He didn't know it when he upgraded our room to the executive suite, but my wife and I were celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary. London was a stop along the way. I booked late - berry berry bad husband! - so I was only able to book a room with double beds, so the upgrade was most excellent. We are very grateful for Ayoub's excellent service and for his generosity. However, when I called the hotel a few nights before we arrived to add on the breakfasts etc. The woman who answered the phone was very terse, then she hung up - or, to be fair, we got cut off but that didn't seem plausible given I was at home with a strong signal and presumably, she was on a landline - I called back and she didn't apologize for us getting cut off mid-sentence. For the record, I was not at all rude nor did I make any demands; I was honestly just calling to add breakfast. She was very direct with me; I didn't feel like I was calling someone in the hospitality industry. It should be noted, it was clear she had an Indian accent, and as a brown guy but fully immersed in Canada for generations - we are Canadian - I've had this happen before with people who look like me and are from India. Some people are just not nice to their own kind. I have an idea why but that's another issue altogether. These people need to be trained properly so they deal with everyone in a professional manner. This is the Hilton, and at least in this part of our experience, it didn't feel like it. You need to hire more people like Ayoub, not because he upgraded us, but because he was professional and kind throughout.

Hockey tournament stay. Check in was quick - room was ready early. Hotel is clean, rooms are a little outdated. The restaurant and bar at the hotel close early, thankful for Uber Eats. The kids enjoyed the pool, needs a little renos. Parking at the hotel is pricey, $40/night. Public parking available across the street with SpotHero website. Would visit again.

Stayed at this hotel in late August. Hotel was fine, nice lobby and rooms were basic. We went to use the fridge in our room and when we opened the cabinet the fridge was housed in we found vomit all over the inside of the cabinet and exterior of the fridge. Management came up and cleaned it but could not move us rooms - free breakfast was given and an apologies. Was told I would get follow up about compensation and never heard anything back. To get out of the room we went down to the restaurant/bar to reset. Good staff, enjoyed a well deserved beer. When we used the bathroom outside the restaurant, we found someone had someone had opted to not use the toilet and instead had just used the floor instead. A large pile was just in the middle of the washroom by the sinks. It was enough for us to call it a day and couldn't believe this is what we were getting for a $300+ a night hotel. If it hadn't been so late in the day I would have moved hotels. I definitely will not be back, have shared with out team manager for future booking as well.

Front desk staff was fantastic and location was excellent effect for rbc event. There was gum stuck to the bedside table and the bathroom could have been cleaned better. Train and a/c unit were very noisy.

I stayed one night for an alumni reunion. I loved the warm cookie. The only negative was I found the bed to be uncomfortable. Other than that, everything was great.

Very pleased with all services

I got a newly renovated room, the bathroom was very clean. However the rest of the room layout did not make sense. It felt empty, and we had to go through many doors to get to the main room.

Everything excellent

I stayed in lot of hotels but this one was my Worst and Horibble experience. I've got painful backache because of poor bed. I think it was a spring bed. Also everyhting looks so old, wear and tear. I didn't expect this from Hilton.

Great rooms

The service was prompt and staff were friendly. They had valet parking at about $39/day. Since they were just parking the car in a lot across the street, I think it would have been much better if they allocated us a spot and ability to park ourselves at a cheaper price. We had a nice clean room, very spacious with two bathrooms - one of which had hot water running only sometimes, for some reason. On my first night, I ordered Surf n' Turf from the onsite dining, Blake's. I asked for a medium rare steak but mine arrived so dry and overdone, it could have been burger meat from McDs without sauces to cover the mess. We thought this was a one-off since my husband's lamb stew was great but, the next day, we ordered breakfast and they forgot the fruit that was supposed to come with the meal. There were roads blocked for construction while we were there (we heard none from our room) but the area had some nice hidden gems within walkable distance: City Lights (excellent old bookstore), Attic Books (used books and curiosities), The Works Burger, Covent Garden Market.

hotel and hotel staff are great and very helpful during the stay, just the downtown area of London is not good at all and they and pretty much in the heart of it.

During my stay, I experienced severe food poisoning after consuming the hotel’s breakfast, which I believe was due to the poor food quality. Following this, I was unable to continue with the breakfast service. The hotel manager informed me that I would be refunded for the breakfast charges that I had paid extra for. However, the issue was much more severe than just a missed meal. I had to seek emergency medical attention, as the doctor confirmed that my abdominal pain was a serious health concern. I spent nearly 12 hours in the emergency ward, which completely ruined my stay and disrupted my plans.

The hotel was convenient for the convention centre. Checking into the hotel was easy & staff were very friendly. The hotel restaurant had good variety of food for dinner & live entertainment when I was there. The rooms were spacious & comfortable. There was a choice of a buffet breakfast or a la carte. Only downside was parking was outside vs underground.

- Hotel is good. Check in & check out process is straight forward and takes only a minute. I'm on the 5th floor and the water pressure is really nice. Great for a nice hot shower after a long day. The tub has a flippable cover and non-removable. I accidentally push it with my feet (without knowning) and all of a sudden water in the tub started to rise and not draining. LOL. Took me a minute to figure out what's wrong. - The bathroom countertop is quite low and has to bend over to wash my face, etc. Don't know why but it's the lowest I've seen in hotels that I've been through. - Parking is outside, using public parking. Or Valet park option. I saw underground garage but not sure why it's not available. Forgot to ask the reception the reason. But during my stay, I didn't use valet but instead use the public outdoor lot across from the hotel. I stayed in September 2025 and the rate is $7 for 12hrs (6-6). The problem with this is that I need to wake up at 6am to pay for the parking again (6am-6pm; 6pm-6am). But there is an option to pay via QR code or app. Just take a photo of the QR code and use it later in the hotel to pay for parking. - Bed is comfortable. Room is nice. Room has a mini fridge but no microwave. There is a microwave in the snack station besides the reception if you need a microwave. Or upgrade to a suite with microwave. - Overall would probably come back to this hotel if I return to London next September.

Booked a double queen bed room and got a two double bed room. Not a great feeling

There was mold growing in the comforter that we didn’t see until the morning when the light shone onto it.

Not so great. I dont think ill ever go back. Room has a musty smell from lack of ventilation. The fan in the bathroom barely seems to work (if at all). There are no windows that open and the tiny bathroom fan would be the sole source of airflow but since that doesnt really work.... the room is permanently musty... no kettle in the room for tea... no pen or note pad. Oh and no cleaning unless requested. They are also either knocking something down or building something in the lot next to the hotel. so there is a constant loud construction noise during the day. There are blackout curtains but it does not cover the whole length of the window so it doesn't do the job either. But my biggest disappointment is the location. It's dingy and very close to a shady section of the downtown area. We did not feel safe walking around after sundown. And LACK OF SECURE PARKING FOR GUESTS is probably the biggest reason ill never go back. The staff were great. I have no complaints about that. It's just not a great place and is more of a 2.5 to 3 star hotel.

Hotel and staff were fine but the paid parking across the street was quite inconvenient in that you cannot pay for all day parking but have to break it up into 2 separate payments which was confusing at the start

House cleaning is scheduled every 4 days ,we didn't get cleaned until 5 day after making a request when no one turn up on the 4th day

Outdated room

Property was fine, met expectations but we had property stolen from my truck in the VIP lot. After talking with others apparently it’s a well known issue.

Well maintained hotel. Great staff at check in, valet, and breakfast place.

Even on the 12th floor I was kept awake during the night by nearby construction... It sounded like a snowplow blade scraping the road, but seeing it was August and the sound stayed constant I figured it must have been a road crew grating pavement or work going on at the demolition site by the railroad tracks. There was also an occasional "pop" and "bang" sound coming from what I think were pipes in the walls that only stopped about 5am. The room was nice apart from that, though the bathroom counter was the lowest I've ever seen. There was also no fan in the bathroom. The bed was amazing. The shower got hot instantly, which is always nice, and the shower controls were intuitive to use. The buffet breakfast gets top marks, though it was a little pricy. But I was very impressed with their pool and especially their hot tub that was perfectly hot. And of course all the staff were amazing, which is expected of DoubleTree. There is a valet service, but seeing how they will simply park your car right across the street, I'd skip it next time if I ever tried the London DoubleTree again.

We have stayed here many times over the years, first as a Hilton, now a Doubletree. The property badly needs a refurb. Everything is dated and needs replacement. The employees are all wonderful, but the physical plant is awful. Great location, but add a $39.95 daily parking fee and the hotel just isn’t worth it.

The room I had 1206 just smelled old and stale like the rug had not been cleaned. They offered to put me in another room on the same floor and that room also smelled stale and like the rug had not been cleaned so I decided to stay in the first room. However, by11 PM that night, the stench was so bad I called down to the front desk and asked them to send house keeping up. They sent someone up to spray in the room, and I was also able to crack the window a little bit and let some fresh air in. The last bad thing was the next day Saturday we went out in the morning and came back around 5 PM and housekeeping had not even come and cleaned the room. I went down to the front desk and the only reason the overall rating for this review has a 2 instead of a 1 is because the gentleman at the front desk named Ayoub was absolutely sensational in terms of his customer service skills. So he deserves a raise.

I've stayed at Doubletree Hotels in the past. That's what made me book here. First time in London. Check-in and valet staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the room is dated. Musty smell to it. Had to open window and circulate AC so we can sit in room. 2 queen beds seem small, felt more like doubles. Pool was also not well kept. Lots mildew around the tiles and grout. Water was cold. Whirlpool was too hot to even stay in more than 30 seconds. As for surrounding area. I didn't realize it was near a lot of homelessness (ie Salvation Army shelter). We didn't feel safe walking around.

Booked with expedia for a great price. Expedia told me the hotel cancelled - it was an on refundable, but paid for room. They will not honor the room NOR give me a refund. I went through my credit card for a refund- disgusting.

Hotel was nice, clean, and fairly spacious, although it does not feel updated. Appreciate the bathroom amenities, we all commented the nice scent of the shampoo etc. (the little things we notice!). Location is fairly close to restaurants and some shops, although you would need to walk 5-10 minutes to get to them. Overall a good stay!

Hotel was your typical hotel, clean quiet. A few things that was average about the stay was 1. Indoor pool was ice cold 2. No free coffee in the lobby 3. Parking was $39.95 a night. (Parking across the street $7.00)

Room was decent, but only valet parking available is unacceptable. Unexpected fee not mentioned on the website although they say it will go back on your credit card I don't like surprises . I won't stay here again.

While the stay was good, the property is very dated. Think 80's. It was clean quiet. I think for the price, think around $300 for 1 night it should have been better. Have stay in hotels that offer free fresh coffee in the morning for less($150 per night). Parking was extra. Either valet for $40/night or paid ticket parking. Not worth the price

Upon arrival we looked for a washroom before checking in as our journey was 3 hrs. The washroom on the 2nd floor was dirty, no toilet paper in 2 stalls, water would not turn on in middle sink to wash hands, and no soap in dispenser. Not a good way to start an overnight stay. We also did not realize that there was no parking other than paying an extra 50.00 a night for someone to park for us. We were told it would take a while for him to bring the car to us when we needed it because you were extremely busy. The room was great, nice and clean and perfect.

I did not like the fact we had a small table and 2 chairs instead of a comfortable chair. It definitely took away from a good experience. They were not comfortable. The only thing that was comfortable was the bed and you don't want to be lying on the bed all the time.

Great place!

The staff was exceptional, probably the nicest and considerate hotel staff I’ve met. The rooms seemed old and dingy. I didn’t like the valet, I don’t want to wait for someone to get my car and park it for me. There is self parking a little bit further and the valet service is because parking can be kind of tricky because of the location of the hotel. But they hang onto your keys and when I insisted on getting the car myself, they refused. I did not like that at all.

We were there for 1 nite to attend a concert. Called ahead for an early check in-was given it after a bit of persuasion and only 50$(really more like $70 after all the fees-worth it???) Hotel is being updated, our room was not. Toilet was a challenge. Not any staff interaction other than check in. No presence of a team…Good location, no on site self parking, valet only(40$). Beds were very comfortable, classic Hilton, room was decorated in the 90’s. would I stay here again? Price is everything and updated rooms are important…

Great downtown hotel. Walk to Rock the Park. Friendly staff. On site restaurant convenient and very good. Warm cookies on arrival a nice touch. My room was ready early as well. Much appreciated. I had a great stay. Five stars.

The Double Tree Hilton staff was very receptive and professional. We asked for extra pillows and they were brought up immediately. The pool area was quiet, we were the only ones there. The room was clean and the shower had good (not great) water pressure. The beds were comfortable. It is conveniently located close to many restaurants and other attractions.

Hotel was nice, if a little dated in areas. Some modernization would be beneficial, also some design elements (i.e our bathroom had 2 toilet paper holders, one attached the wall that was in use and one built into the sink cabinet that was not in use and just stuck out), we also had a large crack in the counter top in the bathroom. Over all, the room was clean, spacious and plenty of storage. We enjoyed the hot tub and gym facilities, however the pool was having an issue and was closed for part of our stay. It would be nice if there was free parking for guests, however the lot in front of the hotel was priced relatively well at $7 for 6pm- 6am parking.

Rooms were OK, Restaurant food was good and the service was excellent. unfortunately the location has been compromised by the homeless and walking around becomes sketchy.

We had a lovely stay while attending our son’s graduation. The only slight criticism I have is that the bathroom could use an update. But it was very clean.

The surrounding area is unfortunately dirty and somewhat unsafe in my opinion. The drug problems in London are completely out of control, it appears to be worse than downtown Toronto which is really unfortunate for businesses. The area smelled like urine and filth. The hotel was great inside and the staff very great, very friendly and attentive. The food and service in the bistro was really nice as well.

Everything a great except the only parking option was $40 valet per day.

My stay was good, the bed was comfy. I found the hotel to be very busy as they had an event going on so there was a lot of traffic in the lobby area.. I didn’t love that the only hotel parking option was valet.

Cleanliness was excellent and the personnel was so nice !

Overall very happy with our stay. Would stay again. Only two minor complaints: 1. No comfy chair in the room. Just an office chair and kitchen chairs. 2. All four pillows on the bed were the same. All were terrible at holding their shape when used. Personally, I disliked them immensely. Also, if parking in the public lot across the street, be aware that you can only pay until 6 AM. At 6 AM, you can then add more time to your parking account in the app. If you are at all anxious about getting parking tickets, be prepared to wake up early…. Not under the hotel’s control, but super annoying…

The bathroom has very low counters. The shower pressure was great but the water didn’t drain. The bed was not comfortable and the pillows were horrible. The area is out of the way but close enough to the downtown area.

We stayed in one of the new suite rooms with two beds and a separate living room and kitchen. It was spacious and clean. You could easily stay for weeks if you needed an extended stay. I will definitely ask for this room again the next time I am in the area.

The only parking available if you don’t want to pay for Valet is the lot across the street where you have to wake up at 6 am to pay again. They don’t offer late check out anymore and the bartender in the hotel restaurant was horribly rude. Would never come back.

It was an easy 1 day trip on business. Enough amenities in the hotel, and plenty more within a short walk

The hot tub is actually hot and I loved that. The beds are a bit too soft and hard to get out of, but still very comfortable. Over all I had a great visit and will definitely consider this hotel for my next trip

I would highly recommend Hilton and Double Tree to anyone looking, and will be happy to stay at any of their locations going forward.

Always such a great place for us to get away with the kids, reset and catch up with friends who live in the area. The front desk is always helpful and friendly. And the cookies... don't get me started on those...

I do know use credit cards and never have I travel all over the U.S. and Canada and for whatever reason visa debit and Mastercard debit are not accepted which is strange and had to cancel my reservation and was refunding nothing
