Het zwembad was erg fijn. Daarnaast was de eigenaar erg behulpzaam en heeft ons naast de overnachting geholpen met het boeken van een safari, restaurant en taxi.

Het was echt niet schoon. Alles in de badkamer was echt vies en er zaten ook vlekken op het bed

Seul petit bémol : une légère odeur d’humidité/égout dans la salle de bain et une propreté qui pourrait être un peu plus soignée. Rien de rédhibitoire, mais ce serait un petit plus pour rendre le séjour encore plus agréable.

Nos encantó el trato con el dueño Ruwan. La habitación correcta y tiene una buena pisicina para refrescarte despues de la calor. Nos ayudó a organizar las excursiones por la zona. Los desayunos son excelentes y super completos. Además nos puso algún día picnic cuando no hacia ni falta. Desde luego se lo recomendamos a nuestros allegados.

Der Pool war dreckig und lud nicht zum Baden ein, Affen im Wasser und Ratten im Dach.

This is my second time visiting Sri Lanka and staying in Habarana. VISU VILLA Guest House is truly excellent and offers outstanding value for money. The staff are extremely helpful and do everything they can to make your stay enjoyable. The owner gives excellent advice and recommendations. I highly recommend this guest house, and the treehouse was a truly wonderful experience that I will remember fondly. Believe me.

Le Visu Villa est plutôt chouette, c’est propre et l’équipe qui y travaille est très sympa et souriante. L’emplacement est pratique pour aller faire les safaris, au temple de Dambulla ou encore Sigirya et le rocher du lion. Ruwan le propriétaire est très sympa et arrangeant, si besoin de quelque chose il est là ! Le petit déjeuner est très bien et nous avons aussi dîné un soir et c’était bon. La piscine n’est pas très grande mais à le mérite d’être là, sympa pour se rafraîchir.

Il n’y a rien que nous n’ayons franchement pas aimé, cependant quelques détails qui auraient permis encore mieux. La cour intérieure de la Guest est complètement démunie de gazon/herbe, que de la terre battue c’est dommage parce que ce serait beaucoup plus charmant sinon (et c’est ce qu’on voit dans les photos de booking d’ailleurs), la piscine n’est pas super propre, et actuellement des travaux de construction de nouvelles chambres du coup un peu de nuisance liée à ça bien que franchement on voit qu’ils font quand même attention à ne pas trop faire de bruit. Sinon pas du fait de la Guest mais à savoir que Habarana en tant que tel n’est pas super achalandé en restaurants, et si vous avez une chambrèrent à l’étage comme nous (il y’en a deux) attendez vous à des réveils matinaux par les singes qui jouent et sautent sur le toit. Pas plus dérangeant que ça et c’est aussi le prix à payer pour être en pleine nature 😉

Ok, door locks that had been broken into previously had a very small padlock a safety pin could break into. Floor towels were filthy upon entry. Our Sri Lankan driver was also not impressed. Well below expectations, and left within 15 minutes.

I booked this place specifically because of reviews mentioning how helpful the host was, and he didn’t disappoint. Great aesthetics — he was very helpful and gave us a bunch of great ideas which really made our trip better. He also organized transport for us, including a jeep trip to Pidurangala, which was very cool. The staff at the hotel were also very helpful.

The bathroom was a bit leaky, but that wasn’t a huge deal for us

We loved our stay at Visu Villa! Ruwan and his team really went out of their way to make our time there special, we went to the Eco Park and were treated to seeing a beautiful family of elephants close up including tiny babies, it felt very natural and very few tourists around. Our kid’s loved the pool area and seeing the monkeys, we also enjoyed two meals at Magic Food! Ruwan also helped us with our trip to Sygria rock which is a must see and also took us to a spice garden. A special and huge thank you for helping reunite us with my daughter’s shoes which she left behind… 😆 definitely 💯 recommend

Good location and quiet, a few minutes by tuk tuk out outside of Habarana. Nice rooms, clean and good air conditioning. Comfortable bed with a mosquito net. Nice breakfast and helpful staff. It’s the owner, Ruwan, that made this place special. Nothing was too much to ask. From the time of booking I received a WhatsApp message with tours and information, very easy communication from before our arrival, he picked us up from the train station at Habarana and drove us to the hotel, then to a local restaurant that he recommended- Magic Restaurant (which turned out to be excellent food and a great price- actually some of the best food we’ve had so far in Sri Lanka) and fixed us an elephant safari for the next day, took us early to safari park to avoid the crowds so we got to see maybe 80-100 elephants close up before the mid afternoon rush of other tours. And also fixed transport to and from the grocery store, a cultural event and another restaurant recommendation for our second night, and onward transport to our next destination. Really excellent service 👌 there are probably cheaper tours but it was worth paying a little extra for the convenience and to avoid the crowds.

Only a slight thing- the WiFi was out of action while we were there.

Abbiamo trovato un topolino in camera perché si erano mosse delle assi nel soffitto ed e’ riuscito ad entrare. Suggerisco un maggiore controllo prima di far accedere gli ospiti nelle loro stanze.

L’hôte est vraiment aux petits soins et s’occupe de tout organiser dans les meilleures conditions. Nous avons été accueilli par un guitariste qui est venu jouer tous les soirs, c’était très sympa.

We had a wonderful 2-night stay at Visu Villa. From the moment we arrived, the hospitality was exceptional — the staff made us feel genuinely welcome and at home. The villa was clean, comfortable, and very well maintained. Everything was thoughtfully arranged, and the peaceful atmosphere made it a perfect place to relax with family. Our kids absolutely loved the place and the people — they felt so comfortable and didn’t want to leave, which says a lot! A special mention to the team for their kindness and attention to detail. They truly went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and friendly stay. We will definitely be back!

La piscine et le petit jardin sont très mignons. La chambre était spacieuse et confortable.

I had an amazing stay here, especially thanks to the owner Ruwan and his attentive staff. My only regret is not staying more nights. Ruwan picked me up from the train station and from there, I didn't have to think about any details of my visit. Safari, hikes, birdwatching, and cultural dance show were all planned for me with transportation provided. Wonderful breakfast with different offerings every morning. Extra points for really cold beer on-site. Thank you to Ruwan and the very kind young gentlemen working there.

AC in my room struggled to keep up and fan was not working. Not as comfortable as I normally like it.

Nous n avons pas pu y sejourné car la chambre prevue n etait pas fonctionelle et le proprietaire ne nous a pas prévenu. La chambre de remplacement : la clim ne fonctionnait pas et pas d eau chaude. Nous ne sommes donc pas resté.

Wow, it was fantastic. We have travelled around Sri Lanka for a month and ended our trip here and I am so glad we did because going the other way round would have made everything else an anti climax. Ruwan, the owner was fabulous throughout our time here and nothing was a problem. He went out of his way to make our stay here as memorable as possible. He is also a very good cook. We ate here every meal because they were tasty and fresh and we were unable to finish because of the amount. The pool was great and we enjoyed watching the monkeys playing in the trees above. This is a proper jungle retreat with animal parks very close by. We even saw wild elephants walking on the side of the road. Ruwan and his staff made us feel very special and if we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely stay here again. Many thanks H Ruwan.

Un posto molto curioso e particolare. Le camere tutte diverse e molto kitch.... Il proprietario molto gentile e disponibile come tutto il personale. L'hotel non è vicino al centro ma la moglie del proprietario ci ha portato in macchina. Buona colazione fatta al momento e il ristorante semplice ma gustoso.

We liked everything, Ruwan is the man. He helped us with so many things, transport, day trips. Lovely little pool surrounded by nature, super affordable, brand new AC machine and the comfiest bed of our trip. It had a beautiful pair of paintings on the wall 😀

The walk into town doesn't have a path or anything, if you've spent much time in Sri Lanka you're probably used to this but it's not the most fun at night. Luckily, there's always a lift getting offered so not really a problem.

Location and calm surroundings. Having become unwell during my stay, Ruwan supported me throughout organising visits to local doctors and providing all that I needed. He even quickly arranged for me to stop an extra night to recover. Nothing was too much trouble for him. Breakfast was also varied and filling.

The room was very comfortable and relatively spacious. There was air conditioning and breakfast was delicious.

The swimming pool was a bit dirty and there wasn’t much space to relax around it, so we barely used it during our stay, when it was one of our key decision points to choose this accommodation.

Ich war mit meiner Freundin dort und wir waren vor allem vom Service begeistert. Ich habe wirklich noch nie so einen guten Service erlebt. Alle waren unglaublich freundlich, flexibel und haben bei allem geholfen. Besonders angenehm war, dass vieles sehr unkompliziert und individuell möglich war. Zum Beispiel konnte man das Frühstück zu der Zeit bekommen, die für einen am besten passt. Generell war die Kommunikation mit dem Host extrem einfach, weil er über WhatsApp immer direkt erreichbar war und sich sofort gekümmert hat. Auch beim Essen und Trinken wurde sehr auf uns eingegangen. Das Frühstück war sehr lecker und vielfältig. Meine Freundin ist beim Essen eher etwas wählerisch, aber nach kurzer Absprache wurde direkt auf ihre Wünsche Rücksicht genommen. Wir kamen außerdem erst sehr spät abends in der Unterkunft an und hatten noch nichts gegessen. Auf meine Nachfrage wurde dann sogar noch für uns gekocht. Meine Freundin ist Vegetarierin und wir haben beide Kottu bekommen, dazu noch eine Wurst. Als wir später gesagt haben, dass sie vegetarisch isst, wurde das am Ende sehr fair gehandhabt und nur ein Kottu zu einem kleinen Preis berechnet. Beeindruckt hat uns auch die Hilfsbereitschaft bei praktischen Dingen. Wir wollten zum Beispiel Wäsche waschen, obwohl die Unterkunft das selbst gar nicht angeboten hat. Das Personal hat unsere Wäsche extra in die Wäscherei gebracht und später wieder abgeholt. Am Ende haben wir transparent nur die normale Rechnung der Wäscherei bekommen, ohne irgendeinen Aufpreis für den zusätzlichen Aufwand. Außerdem wurde für uns ganz spontan eine Safari organisiert, genau nach unseren konkreten Wünschen und zu einem wirklich fairen Preis. Ein anderes Mal wollten wir ein Getränk kaufen, das gerade nicht da war, und dann ist jemand extra für uns in den Laden gefahren, ohne dafür mehr zu verlangen. Am Ende hat uns der Besitzer sogar noch kostenlos in Richtung Busbahnhof gefahren, weil wir etwas unsicher waren, wo wir hinmüssen. Unglaublicher Service

Der einzige kleine Kritikpunkt war ein bisschen das Badezimmer. Ein Teil zwischen Dusche, Waschbecken und Zimmer ist eher offen gebaut. Der Sichtschutz war zwar komplett gegeben, aber durch die Holzstruktur konnten Mücken hineinkommen. Man musste deshalb darauf achten, die Tür zum Zimmer geschlossen zu halten. Wenn man das gemacht hat, war alles gut. Zusätzlich gibt es am Bett ein Moskitonetz, sodass man nachts trotzdem geschützt ist. Gleichzeitig kann man das auch positiv sehen, weil dieser offene Teil dem Badezimmer ein luftiges Gefühl gibt, fast wie ein kleiner Balkonbereich. Ich fand das ganz angenehm, meine Freundin ein eher weniger.

Ruwan is a good host who can arrange anything you’d want. Whatever we would ask, he and his team would deliver. Good meals, safaris, day trips: everything is taken care of at Visu Villa. The breakfasts were huge and cooked right in front of us, a very nice touch. The room was fine and the bed was comfortable. And another luxury in Sri Lanka: it’s quiet at night. And yes, as some reviews point out, things might be lacking here and there, but give the staff a chance to fix it, they are very willing to.

The room wasn’t very clean, especially the bathroom. The toilet was leaking, causing an unhygienic situation. Music from the bar resonated quite strongly into the room, even when it wasn’t loud. Communication with the staff was not easy when Ruwan was not around.

The owner was lovely and made sure everything was taken care of. He helped me organize where to go and organized transport as well. Was a lovely quiet place to stay. feed was fabulpus and there was live music every night which was lovely during dinner.

L'endroit est vraiment magnifique, très bien entretenu, un vrai dépaysement 🥰 le personnel est au petit soin, Ruwan très sympathique et de bon conseil, l'ambiance est vraiment chaleureuse. Les massages proposés sont très agréables, les plats proposés sont variés et très bons vous pouvez y aller les yeux fermés 😊 merci pour tout🥰

My wife and I had a fantastic stay at Visu Villa. The breakfast was amazing and any food we purchased on site was brilliant (good value and freshly cooked on site). Ruwan (the main host), Buddhika (a local car driver for the hotel), Dhilip (a local bird guide/musician/man of many talents) were helpful, friendly, genuine people who knew the area and went out of their way to make sure our stay was good as it could be. The support staff were also very attentive and professional. Our Double Room was comfortable and the communal pool was great to cool off in after a hot morning of exploring. The vibe of the hotel was very nice - semi jungly. Overall, the location was great - close enough to town to walk, but not on the main strip, which was better to be away from. Also a convenient location to do day trips from. Thank you team Visu Villa for a fantastic stay - we won't forget you.

The rooms are slightly dated, but the service/food/value for money makes up for it.

De service was uitmuntend! Ruwan is ongelooflijk servicegericht en gastvrij. Ons meest bijzondere verblijf tot nu toe in Sri Lanka en we zijn een maand onderweg. Een fantastische basis om de triangle te bezoeken. Anthony heeft ons de omgeving laten zien met de Tuktuk en extra’s, helemaal top. We komen hier zeker terug.

Fantastisk personale! Morgenmaden var et festmåltid og de serverede lokale retter og andet godt. Selv på vores afrejsedag måtte vi absolut ikke gå før vi havde spist. Meget søde og hjælpsomme og en dejlig atmosfære. Poolområdet var hyggeligt med kig til aber og egern.

Nos quedamos solamente una noche, para estar cerca del safari pero si lo llegamos a saber nos habríamos quedado más aquí, usándolo como base. La habitación es amplia cómoda y cuenta con comodidades como gel, champú, también enchufe para todo tipo de cargadores y una neverita. Todo un puntazo para poder tener agua fresquita. La cama es muy cómoda con bastantes almohadas de diferentes durezas y tamaños. El desayuno muy rico. Nos proporcionó un safari y vimos muchos elefantes. Está rodeado de monos y es divertido verlos desde la cama o la piscina.

El billar no estaba nivelado y era difícil ganar a mi novio así hehehe

Great atmosphere in the place, despite the couple of days of rain. Breakfast was decent, room was huge and generally was good.

The breakfast could be varied a bit, I had the same thing for three days straight. Also, and this isn't a bad thing, or the property fault, but you'll need ear plugs if you're in a top room, there's quite a bit of monkey business early in the morning 🤣

Tout était vraiment super ! Le personnel est vraiment adorable et au petit soin, ils m’ont aidé à organiser des safari pour minneriya et Kaudulla et transport pour Sigiriya (ils viennes vous chercher directement à l’hôtel ce qui était très pratique). L’endroit est très sympa et dispose de tout ce qu’on a besoin le tout dans un cadre magnifique avec piscine. J’ai dormi dans la cabane en bois perché dans les arbres qui était magnifique et très confortable ! Je ne peux que recommander cette endroit à 100% et je reviendrai sûrement si j’en repasse dans la région. Encore merci à eux pour ce beaux séjour !

The staff is totally caring and helpful for any kind of activity or need you may have. The suggestions about local restaurants are perfect. The pool is beautiful and well maintained even if now is low season: we had a very romantic dinner on the poolside. There is airco in the room, therefore the experience is perfect.

If you want a small intimate accommodation at a cheap price with a swimming pool in the jungle but close to town, this is great. Don't complain about the things that seem missing, just ask the staff and they will jump to help. Try to book room 4 upstairs.

Just make sure that they have the pool completely filled and are running the pump. And don't leave anything around the pool that might interest the monkeys.

Ruaan welcomed us with a glass of watermelon juice and 15 minutes of chit chat about our previous 10 days in Sri Lanka. His kindness, passion for his place and work transpired immediately. The accomodation is easily the best we've come across in the past two weeks. Extremely tidy rooms and really well thought through. Smiley staff. Breakfast is banging and it offers a great variety of items. Freshly made hoppers were insanely good. He's accommodated us in finding bikes and offered to arrange activities being extremely insightful with regard to what to do and what to avoid. Just a great dude and a great guest house. Definitely pop by whenever in Habarana

Der Gastgeber durchwegs bemüht und freundlich! Er hat tolle Ratschläge gegeben und waren sehr hilfsbereit.

Sauberkeit und das Bett war nicht überzogen, jedoch nach Reklamation wurde es sofort behoben. Die Straße zum Hotel ist holprig (hügelige Sandstraße mit Steinen).

Ens va conseguir un safari simplement increible al parc de kaudulla!vam veure unes danses tradicionals que ens van encantar, etc… Esmorzars molt complets i apata increibles al costat de la piscina, tot molt cuidat.

El trato del personal fue excepcional, estuvieron muy pendiente de nuestras necesidades en todo momento. Contratamos el safari a través de ellos y fue genial, una experiencia única. Cama muy cómoda y desayuno abundante. La cabaña está en plena naturaleza, siendo algunos de los vecinos monos juguetones que hicieron nuestra estancia toda una experiencia única. Coincidió que había un festival que se celebraba en la ciudad y nos recomendamos un sitio para cenar y verlo en primera fila y fue genial. Y además, nuestro driver salió muy agradecido con el personal del hotel.

El wifi no nos funcionó. No hay plato de ducha , la ducha no está separada del resto del baño, con lo que se inunda y tarda mucho en secarse

Noi avevamo un autista che aveva gia organizzato safari e visite alle principali attrazioni ma altri ospiti si sono affidati al proprietario della struttura per le escursioni e abbiamo sentito solo feedback positivi. Volendo provare anche altri ristoranti della zona abbiamo cenato in struttura solo la prima delle 3 notti passate lì e siamo rimasti soddisfatti. Colazione abbondante e molto buona (tipica ma con anche frutta e uova oltre a loro specialità come gli ottimi pancake), sempre variata nei 3 giorni del nostro soggiorno. Noi abbiamo volutamente scelto l'esperienza del cottage e siamo stati contenti della nostra scelta. Prima di andare a letto ci siamo sempre intrattenuti in piacevoli chiacchierate con il proprietario che ci ha spiegato molte cose sul suo paese.

Zona piscina molto carina ma piccola (2 sdraio). La pulizia immagino sia su richiesta visto che non avendola chiesta, il nostro cottage non è mai stato pulito. Per 3 giorni per noi non è stato un problema ma per altri potrebbe essere utile saperlo.

Nous avons adoré l’acceuil de Ruwan il a été à nos petits soins de notre arrivée au départ Il cuisine divinement le kottu 🙏🏻 Les petits déjeuners sont délicieux et très très copieux Ruwan nous a énormément conseillé pour les activités, taxis etc il est de très bons conseils et a pris du temps pour nous réserver les activités ! Une personne vraiment qui est dévouée pour ses clients !!! C’était incroyable je recommande ☀️☀️☀️

Ottima sistemazione pulita e silenziosa il proprietario e il suo staff sono stati gentili e disponibili ad organizzare al meglio ogni nostra necessità super consigliato

Ruwan, der Besitzer, war super hilfsbereit und sehr nett. Auch die anderen Mitarbeiter waren sehr bemüht. Fantastische, authentische Küche. Schöne Anlage mit Pool. Es wurden viele Touren und Ausflüge angeboten, allerdings ohne aufdringlich zu sein und es war in Ordnung, diese anderweitig zu buchen.

Zimmer hätte sauberer sein können, etwas wenig Platz am Pool. Wir hatten über mehrere Tage nur sporadisch fließendes Wasser (wir wissen nicht, wie viel das Hotel dafür kann). Über Nacht war es sehr laut aufgrund der Tiere auf und unter dem Dach.

Staff were very professional. They helped organise a Safari for us and organised a delicious birthday meal. The breakfasts changed slightly every morning (we stayed 3 nights). Highly recommend this friendly hotel. Big bonus: the swimming pool!

Nothing I enjoyed my stay

We loved our stay at Visu Villa. The owner was very welcoming and helpful since our arrival, he helped us organize all our excursions and he gave us great recommendations on where to go. We had an issue with the air conditioning in one of our rooms and he fixed it immediately. The breakfast was very good as well.

Everything was great

Ruwan and team really looked after me and made me feel very comfortable and welcome. His local knowledge helped me out with everything I needed to make the most out of my stay. It's also a great location to visit all the surrounding ancient sites, and after a hot day exploring, it was nice to cool off in the swimming pool. I would recommend staying at Visu Villa Hotel to others 😊

Rwan y su equipo siempre están atentos y dispuestos para lo que puedas necesitar, tanto ellos como los conductores que te presenta para hacer las diferentes excursiones. Todo te lo ponen fácil. Y cada mañana te prepara un desayuno riquísimo y en cantidad!! A 5 minutos caminado hay un calle con bares y restaurantes por si quieres cenar fuera.

We stayed in the villas and absolutely loved it. The owner, Ruwan, his sister, and the young staff were fabulous. Ruwan organised everything for us – safari trips, tuk tuks, spa treatments – and would often surprise us with a cool drink by the pool or when we arrived home, which was such a thoughtful touch. He and his sister, with help from the staff, ran a cooking class for us – by far the best I’ve done. We cooked chicken curry, coconut sambal, roti, spicy green beans, and sautéed spicy mushrooms. An absolute must-do if you stay here. The villas are down an unkept laneway but don’t let that put you off – the rooms, grounds, and pool are spotless. The pool was heaven after a hot day out exploring. Breakfasts were fabulous, with fresh fruit, coffee, eggs, toast, Sri Lankan pancakes, and other local items. We also ate dinner at the villas on three nights and the food was delicious every time. The rooms aren’t serviced daily, but if you need anything, you just have to ask. It’s not a five-star Sheraton resort, but neither is the price – and everything you need is there. There’s a small store about 100 metres away for water, drinks, and snacks. We also enjoyed walking around the local village, where everyone waved and chatted to us. Ruwan was encouraging of his two young assistants and took the time to teach them and offer them direction when needed.

The best and affordable place to stay in Habarana. I recommend warmly the Visu villa hotel. The host are very nice and friendly.

Nothing everything is perfect

On se sent vraiment très bien dans cette guesthouse ! Le boss est très gentil et prend soin de ses clients. Accueil très chaleureux et professionnel. Excellent petit déjeuner. Les repas sont aussi très bons et copieux. La piscine est très agréable après les visites.

Rien, tout était parfait !

Das Zimmer war sehr schlicht, hatte aber alles, was man braucht. Besonders schln war der Pool. Zudem half Ruwan, Daytrips und die Weiterreise zu organisieren. Habarana ist toll, da es noch nicht so von Touristen hat. :)

The hotel is calm and welcoming with good food. The staff gives impeccable service and the manager is charming and professional. He helped with all my needs: arrival by train, ayurvedic treatment, elephant safari, taxi for next destination ... I would love to return one day

It’s very rustic and simple. AC is very functional. There were a few hiccups, but the outstanding staff addressed everything immediately. Everything I tried on the menu was delicious. There isn’t a lot to do in Habarana, but it’s a great location to stay if you want to visit the cave temple, Sigiriya, Miniriya and Polonnaruwa. The first three are less than 30 mins away. Polonnaruwa was a fast hour.

Ruwan is a brilliant host, experienced in hospitality. He organised several good value trips and went out of his way to ensure we saw what we wanted to see. Ruwan is also a talented cook and his meals were extremely flavourful. Pool was lovely. Room was not the one we were expecting and although clean and with nice balcony it felt a bit small for 5 nights.

This was our second time staying here and for good reasons. We loved it so much the first time that we couldn’t resist coming back. The vibe of the hotel is just perfect: relaxed, welcoming, and the host is really helpful, which makes the whole experience feel special. One of the real highlights is the food: breakfast in particular was absolutely amazing, with plenty of delicious options and fresh ingredients that set the tone for the day. We felt right at home and will definitely be returning again.
