Staff were amazing. Kind, helpful and went out of their way to help us with everything and anything. They provided wonderful food (half board) and accommodated our many allergies. Everything was delicious. They were brilliant with our children and made us all feel very welcome. Room, bathroom and pool were clean and to a good standard. Bathroom was a novel experience and a monkey invasion one day added to the adventure! We cannot thank the staff at this property enough! Would recommend a stay here.

Visiting in July/ August, it is extremely windy. At night, the metal roof is extremely noisy, making it impossible to sleep without earplugs.

Wir hatten einen wirklich wunderschönen Aufenthalt und würden jederzeit wiederkommen! Die Lage des Hotels hat uns besonders gut gefallen. Der See ist in etwa fünf Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar und lädt zu entspannten Spaziergängen ein. Direkt am See gibt es außerdem ein sehr nettes Restaurant. Das Hotel selbst liegt angenehm ruhig, sodass man sich wunderbar erholen kann. Weitere Restaurants sind entweder in wenigen Minuten mit dem Moped oder in etwa 15 Minuten zu Fuß erreichbar. Unser Zimmer war geräumig und sehr gemütlich. Das Bett war bequem und das absolute Highlight war das freistehende Badezimmer – etwas ganz Besonderes und sehr stilvoll. Auch der Poolbereich war einfach wunderbar. Da das Hotel nur drei Zimmer hat, war es dort immer angenehm ruhig und nie überfüllt. Man hatte jederzeit ausreichend Platz im Pool und konnte die entspannte Atmosphäre in vollen Zügen genießen. Das Frühstück hat uns jeden Morgen begeistert. Es war abwechslungsreich, es gab täglich kleine Veränderungen und alles war frisch, liebevoll zubereitet und sehr lecker. Ein ganz besonderes Lob möchten wir dem gesamten Team aussprechen. Vom ersten Moment an haben wir uns herzlich willkommen und bestens aufgehoben gefühlt. Alle Mitarbeiter:innen waren außergewöhnlich freundlich, aufmerksam und stets bemüht, unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten. Egal, ob wir Fragen hatten oder Unterstützung brauchten – es wurde immer sofort geholfen und alles mit einem Lächeln erledigt. Besonders geschätzt haben wir, dass für uns ganz unkompliziert ein Moped sowie ein Safari-Ausflug organisiert wurden. Man merkt, dass hier mit viel Herz gearbeitet wird und den Gästen ein unvergesslicher Aufenthalt ermöglicht werden soll. Vielen Dank für die schöne Zeit – wir haben unseren Aufenthalt wirklich sehr genossen und kommen bei unserer nächsten Reise nach Sri Lanka sehr gerne wieder!

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt im Sundown Lake Hotel & Spa sehr genossen und können dieses Hotel uneingeschränkt empfehlen. Die ruhige Lage am See, die gepflegte Anlage und unser geräumiges, sehr sauberes Zimmer haben uns sofort begeistert. Auch das Frühstück und das Abendessen waren ausgezeichnet – frisch, abwechslungsreich und sehr lecker. Ein besonderes Dankeschön gilt Imashi und Tarinda. Mit ihrer Herzlichkeit, Aufmerksamkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft haben sie unseren Aufenthalt unvergesslich gemacht. Vielen Dank an das gesamte Team. Wir würden jederzeit gerne wiederkommen!

Het hotel ligt op een prachtige plek naast de Habarana Rock met prachtig uitzicht over Habarana lake. Er staan 3 huisjes aan het zwembad met daarnaast de ontbijt ruimte waar je zowel binnen als buiten kan zitten. De huisjes zijn comfortabel ingericht. De bedden zijn niet zoals aangegeven 180cm maar 160 cm. Het ontbijt is geel goed en uitgebreid We werden hartelijk ontvangen door het personeel (broer en zus).

Facilities were lovely, location was easy walk to shops and lake. Lots of good eating places nearby. The host couple were lovely, and helped us with everything we needed. They also cooked great breakfasts and authentic sri lankan dinners.

Spa facilities are mentioned as being available but these were closed when we stayed.

Vi boede her i 7 nætter og brugte stedet som vores base i mellem alle de oplevelser der ligger tæt på. Vi elskede at vi kunne “komme hjem” efter vores dagsture og hoppe i den skønne pool. Det var perfekt for os at kunne sidde i vores egen hytte og stadig se ungerne i poolen. Vi besøgte bl.a Sigiriya, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla, Rigitala og Hiriwadunna mens vi boede her. Fanastiske steder. Hotellet hjalp os med Safari og village-tour i Hiriwadunna. Personalet er meget søde og hjælpsomme og de aftener vi spiste på hotellet fik vi den lækreste rice & curry. De andre aftener spiste vi på Lake House Kitchen som ligger meget tæt på og som bestemt er et besøg værd. Hotellet laver en fantastisk lokal morgenmad. Badeværelset er åbent ud til naturen, og kun delvist overdækket, så der er mulighed for bad under åben himmel hvilket er en super oplevelse. Det betyder også at der engang i mellem kommer nysgerrige aber og siger hej. Hytten har gode senge og en hems. Den er simpel, men funktionel. Man skal kunne leve med at der render lidt smådyr rundt.

Vi kunne godt have brugt en parasol til den lille terrasse.

La disposition de la chambre n’est pas ok, un des lits double est juste posé sans rebord et le logement est pas fait pour plus de 4 personnes de plus il est dommage de louer une chambre de 6 mais d’avoir que 2 transats

サファリができる場所から10分程度、シギリアロックから30分程度なため、それらの観光地に行くには、とてもアクセスがいいです。オーナーさんと、ワッツアップでやり取りでき、宿泊前からとても親切でした。夕日が湖に沈む様子が見られました。プールが気持ちよかったです。3つのコテージが並ぶ、素敵な写真が撮れました。

ソファのシミや汚れ・フロアのホコリ・冷蔵庫の中の汚れなど、清潔さに欠けるところがありました。ドアの隙間から小虫が夜に結構入ってきて、困りました。トイレ、シャワーが半分外にあり、少し落ち着がなかったです。

The lovely married couple who manage the place are just delightful. Saseeni (apologies if I’ve spelt it incorrectly) is the greatest cook, we had the most fabulous breakfasts & dinners-absolutely the best food we had in our 3.5 weeks in Sri Lanka! Her mum taught her very well! The infinity pool is lovely with great views over the lake & a perfect temperature. It looks especially beautiful at night all lit up. We enjoyed having a shower outside, private but with some occasional cheeky monkeys for company 😊 Sunset 🌅 view over the lake and also a view over to Sigiriya & Pidurutalagala Rocks if you walk a short distance up the hill past the water tank. We had to get to Habarana station for our train back to Colombo and we were treated to a complimentary ride in a safari jeep-thank you so much!

Lack of shade by the pool! It is very hot and in full sun all day so the cabana gets very warm, especially if the air con isn’t on and it’s really not possible to sit on the sun loungers during the day as there is no parasol/shade!

Quirky room with beautiful views! Delicious home cooked breakfasts and dinner. Friendly, lovely team looked after us from the moment we arrived.

This place is a rare find ! Very newly built and the accommodation is so comfy with fun features like the outside bathroom. Three of us stayed in one lodge and that was really fine. The beds were super comfy . The pool overlooking the lake is stunning. We spent quite a bit of time just hanging out at the hotel as it was so nice. The staff are exceptional and made us an amazing curry one night with so many dishes . The breakfast was different every morning and so much fab food . There is also a great restaurant 5 mins walk away with western options.

Io non mangio aglio e si è prodigata di farci entrambe le cene senza aglio! Alla sera , dopo le varie escursioni, tornate in hotel e non uscite più da qui! Rilassatevi tra la piscina e il patio con la vista mozzafiato! E godetevi la cena in questo paradiso

L’unica pecca per noi è stato il bagno all’esterno.. alla mattina mentre ero in doccia è sbucata una scimmietta e uno scoiattolo e mi sono un po’ spaventata! E la notte avevo un po’ di ansia ad andare in bagno all’esterno!

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. Beautiful lodge and scenery looking over the lake. The breakfasts were freshly cooked every morning and were fantastic. We don’t normally eat in hotels for dinner however we had dinner here on our last evening and the food was absolutely sensational, you must eat here if you stay!

Wi-fi very hit and miss, however we had purchased an e-sim so didn’t matter too much.

Pool & Frühstück

Wir verbrachten 3 Nächte mit Halbpension hier. Wir sind eigentlich low Budget unterwegs und wollten uns hier einmal etwas gönnen. Wir fanden es aber lediglich "okay" und den Preis nicht ganz wert. Das Ambiente ist zwar sehr schön und der Pool natürlich ein toller Bonus aber: In unseren bisher 5 Wochen Sri Lanka nimmt das Abendessen (3x) hier eher einen der unteren Plätze ein. Es schmeckt um ehrlich zu sein alles ziemlich langweilig. Fast als wäre kaum gewürzt. Vielleicht kommen die guten Bewertungen von Menschen, die die ersten Nächte im Land sind und das ansonsten fantastische Essen noch nicht kennen ;) Frühstück war jedoch sehr lecker und viel. Der Service war gerade so durchschnittlich. Kurze, um stunden verzögerte oder gar keine Antworten auf Nachrichten ... Einige Flecken hier und da... Und sich "Spa" zu nennen finden wir auch etwas weit gegriffen. Es gibt lediglich arrangierte Massagen wohin man noch extra gefahren wird (die Fahrt muss man nochmal on top zahlen). Das geht auch von jeder anderen Unterkunft die nicht "spa" heißt aus... Alles in allem okay aber wir hatten für 10€ die Nacht schon um Welten besseres Essen und Service. Man zahlt hier den Mehrwert eigentlich nur für den Pool.

Een heerlijke plek om te verblijven. De kamer was schoon en comfortabel, en het personeel was erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De locatie is ook uitstekend gelegen voor wie de omgeving wil verkennen. Mooie sunset vanuit het zwembad. Alles was simpelweg heel goed!

Amazing location with great views. The staff was really kind and the host is a great chef in the kitchen. It was new years eve and the staff of the property organized a mindblowing firework for us. It could not be better. We had 2 great nights with them.

Lovely peaceful accommodation. Great hosts, delicious breakfast. Short easy walk into Habarana for local restaurants and supermarket and the pool was refreshing. Amazing restaurant (lake house kitchen) just down the street.

We had an amazing stay. The view was lovely. As wel as the staff. They were very kind and welcoming. We had dinner at the stay and it is one of the best dinners we had in Sri Lanka, nice local food. The room was amazing, had everything you need and more. We took a swim in the amazing infinity pool. If we wanted to go somewhere they always helped us.

El Lugar era espectacular, unas vistas impresionantes, la casa muy bien equipada y bien decorada y la piscina genial. Der Pool mit dem grandiosen Ausblick auf den See. Die Unterkunft war sehr gepflegt und sehr gut ausgestattet. Das Abendessen und das Frühstück waren ausgezeichnet und sind definitiv eine absolute Empfehlung.

Our stay at Sundown Lake was fantastic. Sasini and the staff there were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed for two nights with full board which I would very much recommend as the food was absolutely delicious, with both breakfast and dinner being some of the tastiest food we had in Sri Lanka. The hotel is beautiful, with spacious and clean rooms and a great pool overlooking the lake. You have easy access to Habarana village for shops or other food options, and plenty of options for tours of the nearby national parks for safari. Do not hesitate to book!

Matrimonio que regentan el establecimiento son un amor, atentos con nosotros. Un desayuno espectacular, el mejor q hemos probado en los 11 días en Sri Lanka. Rodeados de naturaleza es inevitable que algún animalito se cuele en la Habitación. Camas fantásticas, super cómodas!

Sorgen sich absolut um das Wohlergehen ihrer Gäste. Toller Infinity Pool. Gute Ausflüge nach Dambulla und empfehlenswerte Safari mit Lion Safari (unkompliziert gebucht über WhatsApp). Guter Preis für Fahrer nach Negombo ( 3 Stunden Fahrt). Ein herrlicher Rückzugsort für das kulturelle Dreieck!

We had an amazing stay at the Sundown Lake Hotel! The owners were very supportive, kind and just lovely people. The view from every cabin down to the lake is great and the very clean pool area makes it even easier to enjoy the stay. The breakfast is very nice - you‘ll get some traditional Sri Lankan breakfast dishes too. We also had dinner every night and it was some of the best food we had on our whole trip in Sri Lanka. We really enjoyed our stay and were sad to leave this beautiful place! Thank you to Sasini, Anjana and Mahinda for everything!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. Sasini was excellent in going out of her way to assist with arranging a massage and transport as well as a packed lunch for breakfast at late notice for a morning Safari. Also, the food that Sasini cooked, especially for dinner was some of the best food we've had and was excellent value for money.

It could be quite noisy at night in the room when any wind blew, we think this because of the design/material of the roof.

The location is gorgeous. The stuff went beyond to satisfy all our requests. The food prepared by the lady, breakfast and dinner, was simply out of this world. Strongly recommended.

Beautiful rooms, stunning view, the staff were amazing. We were treated my royalty. The woman who worked there saw we had nothing to want for. Her food was amazing. Perfectly local to everything, loved it.

What a special place this is to stay in, it was absolutely perfect. The view from the bungalow overlooking the pool with the lake in the background is fabulous, an incredibly relaxing place to stay. One of the nicest pools to swim in. Location is fantastic for enjoying a safari, or walking down to the local restaurant for dinner at the lake. We really enjoyed the breakfast provided each morning, sampling different Sri Lanka breads and pastries, the freshest fruit and equally delicious coffee. We also enjoyed a beautiful Sri Lankan dinner at sunset lovingly prepared by Sasini which I would highly recommend. Wished we could have stayed longer.

Sundown lake was set in a wonderful location overlooking the lake, the pool was brilliant and everything just as pictured. The cabin was amazing, clean, comfortable and had a mosquito net around the bed which was definitely appreciated! The outside bathroom was private, spacious and was lovely having a shower outside of an evening. The breakfasts were amazing, soooo much delicious food! And one evening we had dinner cooked for us and that too was fabulous. The staff were extremely helpful and helped us to arrange all our activities whilst in the area after we arrived. They also arranged our transfers to and from them with complimentary stops at attractions on the routes.

Honestly the stay overall was amazing. Just a little feedback would be maybe for the hotel to consider stocking a mini bar as there was a fridge in the room but nothing in it, or maybe offering a limited drinks menu for around the pool as it was so lovely to come back and relax there after being out on activities and a sundowner cocktail or beer would have gone down a treat and generate more income for yourselves!!

We had a fabulous stay at sundown celebrating a 40th during our stay, they went above and beyond to make our stay extra special. The room is comfortable and the pool is so lovely to cool off after a busy day . Thank you so much.

There’s nothing we didn’t like

Excellent two night stay at this gorgeous boutique location. Just three cabanas make for a very peaceful stay. The layout is very thoughtful so each cabana has plenty of privacy. Loved watching the sunset over the pool and lake. Amazing hospitality throughout from the small team and great dinners. Great location - very short walk to habarana with plenty of shops and restaurants and 100m from the lake which has a great footpath around it and an excellent seafood restaurant.

We had a wonderful stay! The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating, supporting us to plan and enjoy our trip. The food was one of our favourites of our trip - authentic sri lankan food, and incredibly tasty! Beautiful view and such an enjoyable stay.

Sassini and the staff take really a good care of the place. The food is delicious! So fresh, tasty and authentically home made with love! The rooms are very clean and always tidy. The cabanas are simple in their designed but perfectly matching with the location.

The cost of the double bed cabana was slightly overpriced. You need a car cause it’s not immediately next to the village centre which is also good because the location is very quite. The New Year’s Eve party which was organised upon request of some guests didn’t meet the standards. My suggestion for next year would be to keep it simple and more authentic. No need for western music or food. Sri Lankan food is the best option !

The staff are amazing and make this hotel which only had 3 cabins extra special .loved the uniqueness of the property and the outside bathroom was a novelty. The staff are so helpful anything you want arranged they do and the food she makes is great - best meal we had in habarana . The view is simply breathtaking and the wildlife around you is stunning

Had to request clean towels daily, clean cups , coffee etc … (which they brought promptly ) . Would also be handy to have more than 1 toilet roll in the bathroom for tourists ! It was quite dark in the evening - no bedside light for reading and you had to get out of bed to switch master light off - some of the light bulbs were not working either . My sons room the safe was not working and there were issues with electric

This boutique hotel was amazing. We loved the service. Our host, Sasinee was very attentive and made sure all our requests were met. This is a hidden gem in a very busy Sagiriya. If you are looking for a cosy boutique away from the rush, then this is your place. The location was great. I especially loved the outside bunk where you could sleep soaking up nature. The pool was the cherry on the top!

The view and pool were great. The breakfast was so nice and different every day. The open air bathroom was also different and nice

Dinner was excellent, very flavorful and served with kindness. View was great. The bathroom is wonderful, loved the different shower settings. Pool is cute and well maintained. The hosts/caretakers are very kind and do their best to make the stay good.

Breakfast could have been better. Apart from the hopper and fruits the rest of the items were store bought. Seems like a nitpick but since my wife is a vegetarian, there wasn't much for her.

Astonishingly beautiful location overlooking the hills of Habarana. We were swept off our feet by the generous and warm hospitality, the home-cooked curries, and the unique architecture. Thank you Shashini and team - you were so welcoming and kind.

Just loved the location and the huts looking over the pool and the lake. Super clean and comfortable. Sasini and her husband (and uncle) looked after us so well. The food was amazing. A really special place.

We stayed in the Hotel Sundown Lake for two nights and we absolutely loved it. The service is very personalized and the hosts are very lovely people. Also the location is really nice. The rooms are super clean and the bathroom is outstanding. We had a variety of home cooked meals every night - the best food we had on our Sri Lanka Trip. We can recommend this place to 100% and like to say thank you for the well hosts and this amazing Hotel.

Sundown Lake Habarana is a hidden gem perfect for a peaceful and adventurous getaway. The view of the lake and lush jungle is stunning. The sunsets by the pool are magical, with the sky turning into vibrant colors reflected on the lake. The food is excellent, with fresh, local ingredients, and the staff's hospitality is outstanding, making you feel right at home. The place feels like you're deep in the jungle, far from daily life, with the sounds of nature all around. Sundown Lake Habarana is an experience, offering a perfect mix of comfort, natural beauty, and great service. Highly recommended for a nature escape.

Location is calm and peaceful. They have a nice infinity swimming pool overlooking lake , Staff is so welcoming and well trained. Good restaurant and good sitting places. Rooms are spacious and kept very neat and tidy. The sunset view is absolutely amazing from room and pool this hotel. Totally worth the money.
