Team is accommodating, level of English comprehension varies from person to person. When asked for a disposable shower cap, they bought a reusable one for my wife to use. Really appreciate this accommodation. Breakfast is basic but filling & tasty. We bought a few fruits from the market and they were also happy to chop them up for us in the evening. The sitting area outside with a small fountain is very relaxing & colorful. It was delight to unwind there after a long day. My wife & I needed cold packs every day and they were happy to keep them in the freezer for us & give them back whenever asked.
The rooms leave a lot to be desired. We had to change our room on the middle of our 9 day stay as the AC was giving off a weird smell when in operation. They called a technician but couldn't figure out any issues so they offered to change our room. In the new room the roof of the bathroom opened to the room, not outside! That was a strange structure tbh. Mosquitoes were also an issue there.
Everything was perfect! The staff were so friendly and kind, helping us out with recommendations. The breakfast in the morning was always a 10/10. Location was also a plus, we were able to walk everywhere
Great location and very quiet. Staff are great
Everything. The room was super spacious and super clean, with a lovely back patio. The hotel has got a lovely design and really great energy, and everyone is extremely kind. Definitely my favourite stay in my whole stay in Mexico!
Nothing. Everything was great.
It was like a little oasis amongst the city. Although it’s in Centro it’s very peaceful and quiet in the courtyard once inside. The breakfast varied each morning but was buffet style and the best hotel breakfast I’ve ever had e.g home made jam, mangos, pineapple, kefir and omelettes with lots of veggies. Carlos was amazing and helped us throughout our stay. I felt spoilt that we had a 24 hour desk and could find staff whenever we needed. They provided fresh filtered water every day which was something not provided to us at other hotels during our trip. The bed was comfortable and I felt like royalty walking through the courtyard. We will come back! The location was good, it’s kind of situated right on the between the locals zone and the tourist up market zone. We walked through the locals area which was interesting but you will probably head more into the tourist zone most of the time for better restaurants and artisan shops, about 10 min walk.

The hotel is centrally located, only a few blocks from the Zocalo. The interior is beautifully decorated and the staff is attentive and very helpful. When my plans fell through for a trip to Monte Alban, they helped me book a new excursion. Also, the hotel is also right across the street from a cute plaza full of different ice cream vendors and next to a beautiful church. It's a fun spot for people watching after a long day exploring the city.
This place is a gem. I was here for a week with my partner and I can't say enough good things about it. It's located right in the centro, off of a relatively busy street but you can't hear it from your room. The room and bathroom was spacious, the staff were incredibly attentive and had amazing recommendations, the garden terrace is gorgeous and relaxing. Bed was comfortable, water pressure was great, we slept incredibly well. And the breakfasts were amazing! You're a stone's throw away from a beautiful market and plaza, and 10-15 minutes walking distance from multiple markets and all the downtown bustle & shopping. It was wonderful to be close but not in the middle of all the tourist attractions. Would stay here again and we miss it already!
Nothing comes to mind!
Hotel Casa Pereyra is perfectly located in the center of Oaxaca, just a 10-minute walk from the main square, making it an excellent base for exploring the city. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with genuine warmth by an extremely kind and caring staff who made us feel at home throughout our stay. The rooms are fairly basic in style, but they offer all the comfort needed for a pleasant stay. What truly gives the hotel its charm is the relaxed atmosphere centered around a lovely patio, a peaceful space to unwind after a day in the city. Breakfast is simple but enjoyable, with a continental buffet complemented each morning by a freshly prepared Mexican specialty from the cook. This daily homemade touch was both tasty and much appreciated. A charming and friendly place that offers excellent value and a very authentic Oaxaca experience.
Special breakfast dishes were a treat!
朝食は水っぽいヨーグルトに手作りマーマレードにスーパーの食パン。それに日替わりのありきたりのメキシコ料理が一品つく。 The house looks great on the picture and guests reviews were perfect. So we payed 2,900 MX (170 usd). The room we stayed was a corner small room - a standard queen room. The bed was small and soft. Breakfast was not special. You can get it anywhere in the Mercado Stand. Frankly speaking, 1,500 MX will be the proper price for the room.
コストに見合わない。ただ寝るだけのホテル。 It didn’t worth the cost.
So much space. Two toilets and a kitchenette. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there was always mescal to greet you after a long day out. The breakfast was delicious.
There was just one morning where there was not hot water for the shower.
Lovely hotel carefully decorated. We noticed something new everyday Excellent breakfast —something different every day. Being greeted by the breakfast staff was a highlight each morning. The staff at the front spoke excellent English and were helpful with recommendations and reservations. Convenient location near Zocolo.
Beautiful building , room quite dated but very comfortable , everything worked well .
No complaints
The staff are very welcoming and friendly as if it were their home. The fresh, home cooked breakfast is excellent. The location is a 5 mins walk to the main square.
None at all.
Great location. Very pretty courtyard Room was comfortable.
Breakfast should start earlier to accommodate guests with excursions planned. We missed 50% of our included breakfasts because of the late start. The ones we were able to have were very tasty though. Taxi pick up from the airport was way overpriced. Check in was disorganized.
The property is very pretty with an internal courtyard containing a couple of shared tables. The staff are really friendly and always eager to help. I had a problem with my eyes while I was there and they helped me find an optician. They also lay on a generous and delicious breakfast every morning. I only tried the cooked option once, but it was one of the best things I ate in Oaxaca. Despite being on an incredibly busy road, the hotel itself is relatively quiet and peaceful and I had no trouble sleeping. The whole property is immaculate thanks to the smiley cleaning team. They also have help yourself Mezcal!
There are a few large rooms around the courtyard, that from the glimpses I got looked beautiful. But my room was in what felt like an annexe at the back. It was dark, thanks to the window that looks out onto two brick walls. There was a tiny (and I mean just enough room for a chair) balcony which shared that view. It felt pretty basic, but everything worked well so I think I was just a bit disappointed because the rest of the property was so pretty. Also you could still hear some road noise and music from the restaurants, but not so much that it was too disturbing. I also found it to be a 15-20 minute walk to the attractions and many of the restaurants in the town. It’s not a big deal and you can get taxis if you prefer, but these are yellow local cabs so if you don’t speak Spanish that might be a challenge. I didn’t use any taxis but did get warned that they can scam tourists.
The Oaxacan style breakfast was different every morning and very good. There was optional fruit, toast, cereal, juice, etc. offered every morning as well. The staff was very kind and helpful. All the plants and vines made it feel like an oasis in the middle of the city.
Extraordinary service. Standout breakfast every morning. Quiet, spacious room in a central location. One of the best hotel experiences we have had in years. 10/10
Immaculate, plants galore, feel instantly relaxed when you walked in, quiet, everyone made sure you had everything you needed

Casa Pereyra is a wonderful oasis of calm and elegance off a busy street close to the Zocalo. All of the staff were welcoming and most helpful in their recommendations for places to eat and things to do and in solving logistical problems. The breakfast was superb and was different each of the five days I was there. I very much look forward to returning to the casa Pereyra on my next visit to Oaxaca.
Nothing!
Hotel Casa Pereyra was a perfect base for our first visit to Oaxaca. Our suite was very comfortable and more spacious than we expected, and we enjoyed the peaceful courtyard seating areas. Breakfast featured a different local specialty each day, and a chance to meet other guests. Most of all, we appreciated the exceptionally welcoming team, ready to make sure we had the best time in Oaxaca. We’ll be back!
We booked our 5-day stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra based on the overwhelmingly positive reviews and its proximity to the Zócalo, and it absolutely did not disappoint. The hotel is a beautifully preserved old colonial home, and it is truly gorgeous. From the moment you arrive, César, his wife Sara, and their entire staff make you feel incredibly welcome—you immediately feel right at home. The property itself is stunning, with charming courtyards that invite you to relax and soak in the atmosphere. Breakfast is offered daily from 8–10am and includes yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, juice, toast, coffee, and a rotating traditional Oaxacan specialty that changes every day—so delicious and such a thoughtful touch. In the afternoons, they even set out a bottle of local mezcal in the courtyard for guests to enjoy, which adds to the warm, communal vibe. The rooms are immaculately clean, tastefully decorated, and incredibly comfortable. The beds are cozy and inviting, making it easy to unwind after a full day of exploring. A small but brilliant detail: they even had a digital hand scale to weigh luggage—super handy after my shopping sprees! Everything about Casa Pereyra feels intentional, welcoming, and authentic. When we come back to Oaxaca, we will definitely be staying here again. Highly, highly recommend!

The property was beautiful, clean, and well-decorated. The entire staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make our stay as nice as possible (Juan Carlos especially). The breakfast was tasty and cooked with lots of love. Great location.
Small complaint - the rooms’ private outdoor areas offer little sound privacy. If someone is having a conversation on theirs, it can be heard loud and clear in yours. This wasn’t a huge issue since we spent most of our time outside the hotel exploring.
Great location, everything in walking distance in the amazing city of Oaxaca. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and consistently checked in with us to make sure everything was OK. Lovely and brightly coloured courtyard. Our room was very clean.
The bed was a double and not a queen or king size.
Staff! They made us feel like family!

Bad location - on main thoroughfare so very noisy No hot water No water pressure Poor WiFi Tiny flat screen tv Meager breakfast No closet What appeared to have been with dows were boarded up with bricks
Location was on a very busy ,noisy road but once through the door was like an oasis of quiet ,cool and calm, all the noise and bustle from outside was firmly shut out. All the staff were extremely friendly , chatty and helpful and had some great suggestions on where to eat and visit. Great breakfast with interesting daily changing hot option, Daily changing homemade juice added and extra layer. An easy 5 minute walk straight down the road to the main plaza from where all parts of the main town were easily reached.
We stayed in room 8 which was a bit smaller and tucked away than expected. There is an old historic section of the building with rooms and suites which you pass through to get to the part where our room was located in the new part of the building. We had a small balcony which was covered and shaded but with other balconies from other rooms very close to the side and below. Any conversation from those balconies or from rooms attached could be heard if your patio door was open to let some air in. Our room was in need of redecoration with a lot of scuffing on the walls and some chunks out of the plaster. The walls were completely bare and could have done with any kind of artwork. The other rooms may have offered better value for money but ours seemed expensive for what we got.
I am glad I chose this hotel. Cozy, beautiful, in a good location. Excellent service, hospitable hosts and staff.
This hotel is an oasis! On a busier street but close to everything and it’s very quiet once you enter the grounds. The staff are all amazing and very friendly and helpful.
Service and location were great. When I arrived, there was some construction underway, and the staff kindly upgraded my room so I wouldn’t be disturbed by the noise.
I found two cockroaches, one in the room and another in my toiletries bag when going through additional bag screening at the airport.
A wonderfully refreshing hotel right in the heart of Oaxaca City. The service is truly exceptional, with attentive staff who take great care of you throughout the entire stay. Our room was cozy, beautifully furnished, and the air conditioning was a big plus in the heat. We were lucky to have a room facing the inner courtyard, which made it incredibly quiet and peaceful. Overall, a fantastic stay — highly recommended!
Location was excellent. Bedroom was clean and very comfortable
More variety at breakfast would have been nice.
Excelente servicio y el personal siempre muy atento. Las instalaciones muy bonitas.
El servicio de todo el personal.
Staff was extremely helpful and available. They helped us book taxis and were always happy to help us.
Room was not as clean as we would have hoped. There were many dead ants in bathroom when we arrived. During the rest of our stay housekeeping was excellent but seemed like parts of our room had not been cleaned before we arrived.
A limpeza do quarto é diária, deixando tudo sempre limpo e aconchegante.
Nada. Gostei de tudo!
Very beautiful and peaceful. Staff were very helpful. The breakfasts were superb.
It's a super charming property with cute rooms, a nice courtyard and very helpful staff. The location is central without being in the heart of things, 10min walk to most of the major attractions. The breakfast was delicious and, above all, convenient.
The amenities are a bit sparse. The spiral stairs in our room are a no-go for anyone with even slight mobility concerns.
Hotel Pereyra is a gem, a lovely setting close to everything the Centro (Downtown) has to offer. The staff are welcoming and helpful, from suggestions of places to visit, to booking taxis, to making sure you have everything you need. The daily breakfast has fresh fruit, fresh-squeezed fruit juice, homemade granola & yoghurt, and toast available, with the option of a hot breakfast entree usually containing eggs, which was different each of the 6 mornings we were there. We booked our stay here based on the excellent reviews, and we were not disappointed. Our room was one of the standard rooms, which was a good size and tucked in the back of the hotel. If you want a little more room, the suites are each unique and are located along the beautiful courtyard. We highly recommend Hotel Pereyra!
The breakfast was excellent, offering a great variety of fresh and delicious options. The authentic dishes were especially good. The breakfast room was spotless and beautifully decorated, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was warm, attentive, and welcoming. This is a wonderful place to stay — perfectly located near many of the city’s main attractions, yet with peaceful, beautiful, and enchanting gardens inside the house. The staff is professional, friendly, and always ready to help. I would gladly return to this hotel again and again.
The location was excellent- central and easy to get almost anywhere on feet. The inner courtyard and area was a lovely place to sit, quiet and provided privacy. Very authentic Mexican furnishings. The breakfast was ok - but with little variety for the cold options. The staff were extremely polite, kind and helpful, especially Pavel who really went out of his way to help us with sightseeing, ordering taxis, vegan restaurant recommendations, etc.
The shower head was very basic, small and lopsided. One of the stools in the dining area was badly stained.
I liked everything here. The room was spacious, comfortable, and nicely decorated. The managers, Oscar and Sara, were excellent and went beyond expectations. They advised us on what to see and do and helped in every way. Extremely friendly people work here. The location was just three blocks from the central district square, where restaurants and shops were plentiful.
La casa es linda y la tienen bien cuidada y le dan cariño. El Personal es muy amable sin excepción. La cama muy cómoda y en general todo excelente. Los desayunos típicos de Oaxaca muy deliciosos.
Tasty breakfast, kind staff, central location
Tranquilidad
This is a very special place to stay. It is over 200 years old & has been renovated, keeping the character of an old Oaxaca home, with lovely small courtyard, common dining room for breakfast included, & our studio with kitchenette was perfect for my granddaughter & I visiting for one week during La Guelaguetza. The staff are wonderful, including the owners, Rosie, Sarah, & Cesar.
We liked everything, including the great location very close to El Zocalo in the centro.
Everything! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful — they even assisted us with taxis, day tours, and more. The breakfast was delicious and a great way to discover Mexican cuisine. A big thank you to Sara and her team. We’ll definitely be back!
Nothing!
The location was good and the staff very friendly. Good breakfast included and mezcal at night in a nice courtyard.
The room itself was somewhat dark and the balcony smaller.
clean, accomadating

Very nice and cute hotel. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in the center and close to the main square and lots of great restaurants.
We loved everything.
Extremely attentive staff and excellent complimentary breakfast. The staff went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience possible. The day trips and restaurants were all amazing. We highly recommend Casa Pereyra for the ultimate Oaxaca experience.
It was on a high car traffic area although you do not hear noise once you are in the hotel. This does not impact your stay.
As mentioned by other guest, it was an oasis past the front door, even though it was located off busy blvd, hardly hear the sound of traffics. Delightful daily breakfast, very pleasant staff. Front desk manned all night for security and service thanks to Pavel. We truly enjoyed our stay!

This delightful hotel is beautifully presented and very clean. Located on a busy main thoroughfare, everything in the city centre is within easy walking distance. All the staff were super-helpful and charming, and helped us organise trips to Monte Alban and fascinating artisan workshops. Luisa’s delicious cooked breakfast changes daily, and she was exceptionally kind in providing herbal tea as a gastric remedy.
Amazing staff, so helpful, and with good suggestions for very good restaurants. They set us up with a very chill and friendly driver for a couple of excursions (less stressful and not that much more expensive than renting a car). Lovely exterior spaces, to sit and use laptop etc. The rose suite has an upstairs bathroom (and a downstairs one) so don't worry about having to go down the little stairs in the night. Although it was very hot during our visit, most of the exterior spaces were cool enough. Great breakfast! and warm and inviting breakfast room.
Great staff and wonderful courtyard.
The rooms can be updated a little bit. Distance is also slightly out of the way from city center.
Super cute hotel in a great location. It was the staff though that made the experience so lovely. They were incredibly welcoming, sent over lots of restaurant recommendations and ideas for things to do. Couldn't have been kinder or friendlier and so they really made the stay stand out from all other hotels we visited on this trip
Lovely hotel with kind and helpful staff,
Water pressure in the shower was extremely weak.
Everything! Friendly & helpful staff, delicious breakfast, plenty of filtered water readily available, conveniently located, wonderfully decorated and comfortable.

A very welcoming hotel with warm and friendly staff and amazing fresh local breakfast. Captures the essence of Oaxacan hospitality. Our room was huge and we enjoyed all of the courtyard seating areas. The location is very convenient.
Not a negative but it would be really cool if they could open up some roof space like some of the other hotels.
Good location
The room was not well insulated from sound at all.
Very clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful
Casa Pereyra was a beautiful small hotel in the heart of Oaxaca. The rooms are super nice and clean! but what‘s extraordinary is the staff - they were supper supportive upon late arrival, finding a guided tour to the surroundings of Oaxaca incl. Mezcal distillery, Mitla, Tula Tree, etc.
The property was lovely an old private Casa converted into inn …..we thoroughly enjoyed the staff they were most helpful, arranged, adventures tours, and wonderful restaurant recommendations. The breakfast were awesome being traditional Oaxacn dishes. We definitely would stay again.

Review Our stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra was just right in every way. The space and the staff are charming. We arrived late in the evening and were warmly greeted on our arrival, as we were greeted every time we came back “home” from being out exploring the city. You enter the hotel and step into a relaxing and inviting courtyard, which is cool even on hot days. The hotel is on a busy street, but you cannot hear the street noise from inside the courtyard or the guest rooms. The bed was comfortable and the studio’s kitchen was very useful, as we usually ate a late lunch out and prepared light dinners in our studio. Our unit had a spiral staircase which accessed the bedroom and full bath, which might not work for some people. There is a half bath downstairs on the kitchen/living room level, so it’s not necessary to go up and down the spiral stairs to access the bathroom. At least one other studio has regular stairs. Every person on the staff was warm, attentive, and helpful. Most of the staff speak English. They were very patient with our limited Spanish and we even got some Spanish lessons! Luisa is magic in the kitchen! Her breakfasts were delicious. We met interesting and friendly fellow travelers at breakfast in the lovely dining room. Oaxaca is an interesting, vibrant and friendly city. We enjoyed exploring, experiencing markets and museums and delicious meals. The hotel gave us good recommendations and helped us by arranging reservations and transportation. By the end of our week-long stay, we felt as though we were saying so long to sweet new friends. We would welcome the opportunity to stay at Hotel Casa Pereyra again!
Excellent breakfast. Excellent location
Beautiful quaint historic accommodation in the heart of city center. Staff and owners could not have been more accommodating and thoughtful.
There was nothing we didn’t like. Recommendation for people with difficulty going up and down a narrow spiral staircase is to request one floor level room. It worked fine for my group and the space was very charming.
Hotel Pereyra is a wonderful Spanish colonial hotel right in the heart of Oaxaca and so close to everything. The hosts are this absolutely lovely, kind couple with an incredible attention to detail - everything about the hotel and our room was comfortable, clean and extremely well appointed- the staff could not have been more helpful! We were also treated to an amazing Oaxacan breakfast each morning - such a delight!
Lovely bed and breakfast within walking distance of Oaxaca City's best markets, restaurants, galleries, museums, cathedrals, and the Zocalo (main city square). The breakfasts at Hotel Casa Pereyra were one of the main highlights of our stay. Guests are provided a continental breakfast spread of fresh fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, toast, a different freshly squeezed fruit juice daily, coffee and tea. In addition guests are offered a traditional Oaxacan breakfast masterfully prepared by cook Luisa. I noted special diets being accomodated although I ate whatever Luisa prepared for the day. She's a wizard with spices and chiles, will happily answer questions about her menu, and even offered me her recipes when I gushed over her food. Casa Pereyra staff are a warm helpful team working tirelessly to provide everything from sightseeing and eatery advice, to recommending and scheduling tours, arranging transportation, offering mezcal tasting and answering many qestions about Oaxaca. When my husband and I got a bad case of intestinal distress they took good care of us and gave us organic kiefer made on site to help settle our stomachs. The rooms and dining area are impeccably clean. The open air courtyard and fountain are clean and well-maintained.
Leaving Hotel Casa Pereyra
Very friendly and helpful staff. Owners went out of their way to book trips for us and give helpful info about the city. We loved our stay in our suite and had everything we needed. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful. We highly recommend to stay here also because it is centrally located to get to all the sights by walking. A+
The staff were so supportive and helpful. The breakfast each day was amazing. Great location. Beautiful courtyard and would recommend to anyone going to Oaxaca.
The staff and space was wonderful. The courtyard is lovely and quiet.
Beds were hard.
Homemade breakfast was delicious. Helpful advice and assistance with taxis, restaurants and markets. Charming decor and comfortable facilities. Superb.
Breakfast was delicious. Traditional Oaxacan food
The loft we had had really narrow stairs with narrow steps. A little bit of trouble if you are older otherwise perfectly fine
The breakfast, free mezcal tasting, the staff, proximity to local attractions, and the courtyards with plants were the main highlights.

The location was great - it was very near lots of things to walk to, but it was really quiet at night. Also, the breakfasts were fantastic and everyone who worked there was super friendly. I would definitely stay here again!
Loved the breakfast, and I really appreciated the hospitality of the staff.
There was an automatic light outside of my room that I couldn’t turn off, and it affected the quality of my sleep.
Secluded oasis in the center of the old town
Room 1 is the closest to the road and next to reception and breakfast room. Probably not the best choice.
Excellent service, great breakfast included, very nice personnel
