Reviewed Sep 19, 2026The hotel has excellent staff, very attentive. The room was large, very confortable, including a bathtub ins a movable wall inside the room.
I did not like the AC control, which did not allow me to apply the fine control I like. I explicitly asked for higher floors, and they put me on "high enough", more or less at mid-hotel.

Reviewed Sep 8, 2026The hotel itself is a nice property, and the room and overall facilities were appropriate for a JW Marriott.
I booked this room for my parents and contacted the hotel in advance specifically to arrange for my credit card to be charged for the room, while my parents would only handle the security deposit at check-in. I spent approximately US$50 on an international phone call to make these arrangements clear, but the front desk still failed to process my card and charged my parents for the room instead. This was exactly what I had gone out of my way to prevent, and the lack of coordination was extremely disappointing for a JW Marriott property.

Facilities management , please limit unsupervised children in swimming pool or set specific kids free hours. Housekeeping staff mannerism is not discrete but forceful, not 5 star service. Concierge was excellent and charming. A huge problem is the damp inherent to the room, this is appalling.

Reviewed Jul 9, 2026The JW Marriott Marquis Shanghai Pudong has long been one of my absolute favorite hotels for their great view, comfortable rooms, tasty food, wonderful swimming pool and sauna, and impeccable service both at the check-in desk and executive lounge as well as the housecleaning staff. Even so, their concierge desk recently set a new standard for service by buying me a new belt to replace a broken unrepairable belt buckle so I could attend my afternoon business meetings properly dressed in spite of tremendous time pressure. Moreover they did so by paying cash on their own since I went out in the morning with family and did not answer my mobile phone to authorize the payment. Who does that? So a shout out of thanks to Ronnie and his subordinates. Sincerely, Shen Fu

I can inquire about the delivery of my packages using WeChat and the hotel also offers delivery of the packages to the room twice a day. Half board package is totally worth it. Scrumptious breakfast and dinner!
Nothing except that location might not be the best if you want to venture out on foot as there is not much around the hotel. But Didi is cheap and easily available.

The room was furnished so nicely and had two sofas specially tailored to enjoy the stunning view from the room. The lounge is very nice with good food, the Chinese food served for breakfast is outstanding. Huge gym with a good range of equipment. And very friendly and very helpful associates. Next time I am in Shanghai, I will stay again at the JW.

The room is spacious and the staff are super helpful and nice. It is a good location to walk along the river. Definitely would like to stay here again if any chance visit Shanghai again.

Завтраки — на высоте: вкусно, разнообразно и обслуживают быстро. Локация — идеальная! Рядом протянулась очаровательная набережная — отличное место для утренних пробежек и вечерних прогулок. Отель оставил настолько тёплые впечатления, что хочется вернуться сюда снова. Однозначно рекомендую!

Not too sure about this deposit thing, it’s almost double the price of the actual booking. Highly unnecessary actually. First time I’ve ever stayed at a hotel that required that. However you don’t have to pay it, of you don’t everything you incur like room service, etc is pay as you go, which is far more reasonable than trying to force an additional down payment because the hotel isn’t exactly cheap. The prices per night are justifiable already as the standard is definitely worth it. Give guests both options of drawing down from a deposit and going pay as you go.
