Staff excellent, Breakfast good for a buffet type set up. Location is superb for wandering east and west...Bus stops , for North and South travels, outside the Hotel. Grounds exceptional for a relax by the Lake....Village is a 5 min walk...
Dinner Menu didn't alter during our 4 night stay, so we only ate there once but food was excellent. Spa swimming pool has missing tiles on the pool floor.
The staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful. The rooms, the view and the restaurant were fantastic
These are small things. There were not that many chairs around the pool and so once the few are taken there is nowhere else to sit. The entrance to reception could be brighter and more in tune with the daffodil emblem.
Excellent hotel, great location
Location
It needs a makeover. Stains on all the carpets which could be removed. No atmosphere and quite impersonal . Little opportunity to meet and engage with other residents . Breakfast was ordinary .
Huge room with a great view of the lake. Perfect location for the village. Lovely interior decor and great spa pool area.
The lighting in the restaurant could be more ambient for a better atmosphere. Simple things like hooks in the room for coats would have helped and a more spacious bathroom sink area.
The bar was terrible. Sterile and soulless.
The hotel has amazing views, we were in a valley room with 2 large windows which had beautiful views. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed and the bathroom was clean. We were celebrating my birthday and they had left a small box of chocolates for me which was a nice touch.
We had been for the afternoon tea a few years a go (and loved it) so booked it again for this stay. Unfortunately it wasn't so good on this occasion - the scone was tiny and didn't seem freshly baked, the overall standard of the cakes wasn't great but the savoury selection was good. The room we were seated in also didn't feel very special, almost like a conference room. Maybe we just went on the wrong day?? As before it was excellent. We were disappointed with the cleanliness of the carpets throughout the hotel, especially in our room - lots of stains. There were also cobwebs/spiders on the inside of the windows. We were also looking forward to using the spa but were disappointed with the size and how noisy it was with all the water jets on at once, it wasn't very relaxing, and the pool soon felt busy with just a few people in it. Sadly the hotel feels a little tired, realise that hospitality is struggling but feel that the hotel needs some TLC for the overall price .
Location good for walking and public transport. Hotel clean and comfortable and staff friendly and helpful.
The dinner menu was quite repetitive if you were staying for longer.
Very comfortable and clean excellent staff too
Very limited evening menu
The staff were wonderful, the setting was sublime and our corner room was perfect.
Nothing. It was pwrfect
Delicious buffet style breakfast with friendly waiters to greet us ,take us to a table(they did their very best to find a table with a view without us asking) and assist with guests needs.Spa area is lovely.Plenty of guest car parking. We had a lovely large guest double room, large bathroom with shower and separate bath.We hadn't opted for a lake view,it was a side view looking over towards countryside, very quiet room.
We used the lovely spa area and a very, very minor point is that a "way out" signage would be helpful on the door from the changing rooms to spa reception area.I'm pretty good with finding my way around however two days running I couldn't find the door, maybe I was relaxed after the lovely spa experience ,my husband was wondering where I was .😂😀

Lounge not very cozy a bit like a waiting room Breakfast ok but had better
The facilities and the very friendly and great service from the staff. Very comfortable bedroom with great views over the lake
Limited menu for dinner .
Beautiful property in an ideal location. Walking distance to Grasmere and 2 outstanding pubs. Room was clean, comfy with a huge bathroom.

Very good location with a pleasant spar for chilling out after a day out walking. The staff were very pleasant and the food was of a good standard. We had a lake view room that offered great views of Grasmere Lake. The location is very central to a lot of attractions, which was ideal.
The aircon noise was a little disturbing at night but managed by turning it off. The range of breakfast could be extended (if staying multiple days) to cold meats and cheese options. However, what was on offer was good with very friendly and helpful staff.
The position with the view.

The food was excellent. The hotel and facilities were clean. The staff were friendly. The location was excellent.
The only issue was the restaurant staff were not very attentive - we had a few issues where orders were not delivered that we had to ask for again, and we never got asked if we needed more drinks. Some of the staff were quite new so hopefully a little training will sort that out. I would however go back again. Adding a gym to the venue would be a bonus.
Hotel was amazing..bed very comftable. ..pool was great and very relaxing..but mostly a member of staff when out his way to make sure i had some thing to eat ad im very akward..ronnie was outstanding. Wewill def be coming back to this hotel in the near future x
There wasnt anythin that i didnt like..it was perfect
Lovely location. Staff friendly and helpful.
Limited vegeterian options on restaurant menu
A few minutes walk from the village. Lovely pool/sauna/steam room. Beautiful views from grounds Restaurant food good
Could feel a little more homely. Not many seats in downstairs bar.
The staff were excellent and super helpful. Every staff member has an amazing attitude towards us customers and we were made to feel very special. The hotel was comfortable and clean and the location is ideally located in the heart of the lakes.
One very minor issue is that the first floor bar felt a little bit disjointed away from the main downstairs bar.

All was to a very high standard
The Daffodil Hotel’s location is absolutely stunning with comfortable and contemporary facilities and a great little spa after a long walk. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, made us and our dog feel very welcome. We will definitely return for our next Lakes adventure.
There was an incident with our room in an otherwise perfect stay. Cleaning staff left our door open (for a lengthy period) and turned the electrics off with my dogs food specially left in the cooler. When we approached reception to complain, the woman was very rude and completely unhelpful (she was an exception for the staff at the hotel), asked me what my problem was and what did I expect her to do about it! Not the best attitude for staff at a 4 star hotel! I asked for an apology to which I got a surly ‘well sorry’. Luckily the manager overheard and responded appropriately. In future I will ensure that I make sure I use the safe and leave a note to not turn my dogs food cooler off.
The staff were fantastic.
The hotel in the photos looks like it’s in the middle of nowhere, but it’s actually backing into a main road. The view of the lake is magical, but you have to get close to really enjoy it and the hotel actually sits quite far from it. The interior is very basic, and the bars do not feel warm or like a place you want to spend time, so we left the hotel at every opportunity, which was a shame. The corridors look dated and the floors were stained, the spa was pretty good, but we noticed a plaster on the floor for 3 days, so not sure it’s cleaned very well. Overall, it was a decent base, but sad it wasn’t a nicer place to stay.
Location and staff.
Smaller spa area.
Everything, the food was delicious, the view was amazing, the hotel was gorgeous and comfy, the staff were great, the spa was wonderful.
That I had to leave.
Beautiful location right by the lake in Grasmere
Place is trying to be more than it is. Not good value for money. The bathroom reminded me of a patrol station bathroom, not toilet lid, no shower curtain and silver fish
Tout était très bien : grande chambre contemporaine, propre, spa inclus dans la nuit, ainsi que très bon petit déjeuner. Du haut de gamme. Très bon emplacement pour visiter.
Rien
Location, location, location Breakfast is delicious Staff friendly and helpful Rooms spotless
Children can’t use the pool, maybe a time slot for kids to use would be great
Very clean hotel throughout beautiful views and staff
Very disappointed with the spa. For such a big hotel the hydro pool wasn't very big and there is minimal seating/loungers. Anymore than 10 people it became cramped
Lovely location , nice atmosphere and lovely dining there own “daffodil larger “ was delicious, rooms are massive and have the items you need
Only issue was seating in the spar but in fairness it was a bank holiday weekend and a mini fridge in the room would be a bonus
The staff are amazing. The location is stunning
Fabulous location, lovely welcome in reception. Good very good and front of house was excellent.
Needs a bit of an update looking a bit tired in places. Robes missing out of room, heating wouldn’t work and it was a bit chilly on arrival. Lady on reception rectified the problems as soon as I spoke to her to report them. Still a nice hotel though.
Really great place nice staff
Everything was great Tablecloths in the dining room would add an extra touch to the experience
Nice stuff Good location Amazing viewing
Notting
Beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. Within easy walking distance of the village, which has shops, cafes and pubs. We walked up Helm Crag and the views are stunning.
Nothing.
The location of the hotel and where it is situated. The helpful staff that always went above and beyond.
I was charged twice for a drink at the bar as I signed for it and paid for it there and then and then saw it on my final bill, paying for it twice. I was also asked to sign for meals which is normal and fine but I was never offered a copy of what I signed for. So when it came to the final bill it was difficult to marry my expenditure with the bill off the top of my head. Having a copy of all my reciepts/what I signed for would have helped. The room was small but the bathroom large which slightly made up for it but still I found the room small. I decided bot to pay for a view but that doesn't mean a smaller room too. The bed had a quilt that was too hot for the weather and no option to have something lighter. There was also nowhere to sit and watch the tvnother than on the bed which was uncomfortable to do unless lying down. The food quality was excellent but the choice I found limited. For a 4 star hotel I expect more on the menu than burger and chips, and fish and chips. Even keeping to an English cuisine, more imagination is required. It has a spa which all looked good until I saw the sauna which had a distasteful smell to it, putting me off trying the other facilities which I'm sure would have been good as it looked so.
Its location is mind-blowing and staff behaviours are also great. Food was lovely as well. It is accessible by public transport as well. We took taxi from Windermere train station.
The Hotel and room location were both excellent Fantastic view from the room ( lakes and mountains The room and bathroom were large and clean The food was good ( both breakfast and dinner ) and of good quality All the staff were polite and attentive
The dining room was a little tired ( tables need varnishing etc ) the lounge had uncomfortable and shabby furniture and did not make the best of the views The chairs in the room were straight backed dining type chairs We would have preferred something more comfortable to sit and read etc whilst taking in the superb views Didn’t tink we had exceeded the £80 dinner allowance However Our bill was £50 so we had to question it as The only extra was 2 medium glasses of wine (Sauvignon blanch and Rose pinot Grigio ) After checking , the receptionist agreed to the error but bill was still £25!! Seemed a little excessive but we were too embarrassed to question it further
Great location and brilliant staff and facilities
Staff, location, facilities.
Lovely clean modern bedroom and very comfortable enormous bed. Special mention to Eduardo and staff in the restaurant.....first class service! Nothing was too much trouble. A warm welcome from the lady at reception. All staff, without exception, friendly and smiley. Our 2nd visit since covid it just gets better. A box of special chocolates and card recognising our wedding anniversary, thank you x
Perfect location, paddle boarding directly from hotel grounds was a bonus as well!
The location of this specific hotel is very naturistic and amazing. A typical honeymoon vibe.
The breakfast menus is very British, thus heavily revolves around the basics. Need more depth.
The hotel is in a great setting walking distance to Grasmere and a bus ride to Ambleside. The room could not be faulted the food at dinner was excellent. Waiting staff were attentive one in particular looked after all our needs efficiently.
From the moment we entered this hotel everything worked. Staff were incredibly efficient, Eduardo and his team in the restaurant need special mention. He was tremendous remembering even the smallest detail. How lucky this hotel is to have someone if his quality. Reception was excellent, big tall bloke from Australia, brilliant. Everyone in this hotel says hello, good morning. Rooms excellent. Will we go back. Absolutely.
Excellent location
The spa area was small and not well looked after. But the treatments we had were outstanding
Lovely hotel in beautiful location but not quite the same standards as in previous visits. Breakfast was good. Rooms clean and tidy. Bed comfortable. Staff were lovely but there isn’t enough of them. Lounge area lacked atmosphere.
The location was wonderful and very scenic. So beautiful. The hotel and outdoor space were fantastic. Very relaxing.
I was disappointed with the suite room I had booked for my mum and dad. It was very basic, just a tv and seating area. It's not very luxurious, considering it cost me a few hundred pounds extra to have the suite. Limited choice on the dinner menu. Especially if you are staying there for more than a couple of days. The food was nice but needed more choice. The bar on the first floor closed really early, and although there is a lovely sitting area to have drinks , there was little atmosphere. There was another bar downstairs but wasn't cosy. The pool in the spa could have been a little deeper as my foot kept hitting the floor of the pool.
Lovely
Zero
We really enjoyed our stay in the lakes district, this lovely accommodation was well located for nice day trips to see the sights. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant most days and the breakfast was nice the staff were excellent and very friendly.
Incredible location! Perfect. Staff were faultless couldn’t do enough for you, attentive friendly in a genuine way. Booked SUP which was excellent. Food was good-old fashioned menu, but greasy and generic-nothing special but fine.
It’s tired, carpets worn, beds rock hard. Booked a room for three - two adults and 14 year old. Had a king size bed and sofa bed. The sofa bed was suitable for a 5 year old at best. V poor.
the breakfast was great room great and also dinner was lovely, the staff in the restaurant was exceptional and made our stay
there was nothing that we didn't like all great
Standards have significantly dropped. Food exceptionally overpriced, disappointing quality and dont even do toast served any more, just queue and do it yourself. Check the opening door windows work only as windows, as otherwise it's a plummet down 2 floors. Bathroom shower full of mould around seals. Room and corridor carpets very badly stained. Spa needs proper cleaning in the changing areas and showers.
Excellent location with views over lake
No proper bar area. The lobby bar was soulless and the 1st floor lounge was a big barn , again soulless. No fridge in the room
Good spa facilities Good breakfast, good options. Nice bedroom- nicely decorated, lovely view from room. Next to Grasmere lake. Lovely village- 10 minutes walk away.
The hallway carpet and carpet going up the stairs was really badly stained, giving it a run down feel, but the bedroom was the opposite to this , very nicely decorated and clean carpet. Dinner was average and expensive!
Excellent buffet breakfast t
There was nothing i didn't like it was lovely weekend
Breakfast was excellent, dinner menus a bit limited but food was good, room very comfortable.
Dinner menu could be a bit more varied. Wardrobe space very limited.
Excellent location with great views of the lake and the forest, quiet rooms and facility, walking trails nearby, and village with shops and eating places as well cultural sites, suitable for families and couples seeking romantic evenings, friendly staff in the dining restaurant and great service, great food!
There could have been more menu choices for brealfast and dinner, the small var at reception was dull and sometimes not operative, a little music across reception, corridors, etc, could brigthen the atmosphere
Lovely location, great staff but hotel lacks a warm Lakeland feel to it especially in the evening after dinner, nowhere to go. Beautiful views but needs something different to give it the warm feel you would hope for in a Grasmere hotel.
Staff were warm and receptive in particular the staff in the restaurants. The terrace had some fantastic views over Lake Grasmere. Room have a lovely balcony and view. Spa facilities were perfectly fine. Everything was clean. A welcome message wishing us a Happy Anniversary was appreciated.
The hotel has too much of a contemporary feel to it and lacks the warmth you would appreciate in a Lakeland hotel. The bar near reception is similar to something at an airport hotel. The hotel lacks a traditional Lakeland bar where you can relax in the evening. Instead they have put a sitting room upstairs with a piano but no bar, serves no purpose and was permanently empty. Outside there is a wonderful terrace that has so much potential for better evening seating but needs lighting and better comfort facilities. Some of the garden features were full of overgrown weeds which is shoddy for a premium rate hotel.
Buffet breakfast. Hot and cold. Very delicious. Dinner was a-la-carte and was excellent. We paid extra for a lake view room and it was fantastic. The room was large with a king-size bed. The bathroom was large, it had a bathtub and a large standup shower. Water and tea making facilities were refreshed daily as were the bedsheets. The staff were all very friendly and we had some great banter with them. They have a spa which guests can use. Spa which was free to use was the swimming pool with jets, sauna and steam room. Massage spa was available at a price.
We basically liked everything there was not much we didnt like. The hotel is separated from the lake by a lawn. The lawn had quite a lot of geese droppings so you had to be careful going to the lake. I suppose its out in the lakes so its expected, but it would be nice if someone picked them up. Thats a small moan.
Building and location is good
Bed was uncomfortable with springs sticking out. Bed side light did not work and room telephone was not working either. In spite of complaint it did not get sorted.

Il rpporto qualita - prezzo, il servizio fornoto è estremamente inferiore a quello atteso Non sono nemmeno riuscit a puòimri la camera quando dovuto ....
This was our third stay at the Daffodil after visits in 2019 and 2022 - and, sadly, standards have slipped over the last four years. I’ll begin with the positives. The hotel is in a fantastic location close to Grasmere village with beautiful views across the lake and plenty of car parking. We stayed in a lake view room which was large with excellent storage and a (slightly sterile) separate lounge. Our bed was huge and extremely comfortable - we slept really well throughout our visit. During our stay, we had one lunch in the lobby bar which was very good and we spent an hour in the spa using the steam room, sauna and thermal pool - a nice way to relax. However, it’s a shame to report that general standards have fallen considerably at the hotel since our last visit four years ago. Lots of areas of the hotel look tired and shabby, with the carpets stained and worn throughout and various bits of paintwork chipped. In our room, the curtains in the lounge area were in dreadful condition, with rips in multiple places. There was mould above the windows and several millimetres of dust on the bathroom door. This is poor and unacceptable in any hotel, let alone one charging more than £250 per night. Breakfast was a highlight of previous stays but a disappointment this time around. The number of items cooked to order is significantly reduced from our last visit - odd that you can’t order breakfast staples like Eggs Benedict, although my experience of the hotel’s ‘poached eggs’ (two basically soft boiled eggs on a sad single piece of white toast) probably explains why. My wife had smoked salmon with scrambled eggs one day, for which we were charged a £4 supplement - I’ve genuinely never come across this extra charge at any other hotel breakfast. The rest of the buffet - which used to boast a range of fresh fruit - was extremely limited. On the plus side, the porridge from the menu was nice and the pancakes very tasty. This is all such a shame. The Daffodil used to be an extremely high quality hotel which I happily recommended to other people. However, I will now opt for alternative accommodation in future visits to the area.
Food was very good

Location
Hotel very tired.
Very good
It was cold as the air con was very cold, the sitting room was soleless and awful piped music
It wasn’t a great experience pool is tiny Staff are rude and would be happier if you weren’t there We asked to be reserved for 900 for breakfast but we’re booked for 945 without letting us know I would avoid and never recommend
The location, close to Grasmere centre. Great pool and sauna facilities.
All good
Great location and a lovely hotel, feel it was over priced, hotel being run with minimal staff, spiders hanging from bedroom ceiling and dropping onto bed, bird poo on balcony, stained bedroom carpets.
All in all a nice place to stay if you can look past the negatives
The Bathroom in our room was exceptional very modern and clean. Breakfast was acceptable. all staff were very polite and helpful. view of the lake from our room was lovely.
very dirty and stained carpets throughout the hotel. Dog mess all over the garden and the gravel path down to the lake, which obviously will be brought into the hotel on peoples shoes, there was so much that it was difficult to avoid standing in it, hence we went down to the lake on that one occasion only.
Great food and location, lovely facilities and Spa.
Amazing service and stay. Food was lovely. Garden terrace was spectacular. Will stay again. Looking at booking again later in year. Thank you.
We loved everything about this hotel, location, size of rooms, breakfast, dinner and staff!
Nothing really, would be the icing on the cake if it had a gym and full size pool though
STUNNING location, huge room, great view. Phenomenal customer service and food
Nothing really!
La localización y el entorno
La habitación era muy ruidosa, el aire acondicionado hacía mucho ruido y si habríamos las ventanas se oían todas las máquinas que había bajo la habitación
room was good size , cleaned with bathroom
when we go out staff on reception desk give other guest our room key to go in( apparently guest said at reception desk he has booked this room , staff should check in system thats this room was taken already) . When we back from trip we found on bed someone stuff and card in electricity already
I booked a lake-view room expecting to be able to enjoy the beautiful view and get some fresh air. Unfortunately, the room had only a small window that could not be opened, so we were unable to properly enjoy the view or have any fresh air in the room. On top of that, for approximately half of our stay, we were unable to shower in our room due to problems with the hot water. After I complained, the hotel offered us another room to use for showering, which I appreciated, but the actual problem in our room was not fixed. It was only after several persistent requests that someone was finally sent to resolve the issue. Overall, these issues significantly affected our stay and were particularly disappointing considering the room we had booked and the standard I expected from the hotel.
Room excellent.. location superb
The restaurant staff could be friendlier.. at breakfast time a waiter knocked into me with my food going on the floor, he was rude.. didn't even stop! no apologies and I picked the food up. the guy behind the bar area helped me.
Great location, lovely room & really friendly staff. Would definitely return. Breakfast was amazing!
Dinner wasn't the greatest (fish quite soggy) but staff went above and beyond to try to rectify. Breakfast was lovely though.
Communicating with staff ensured that our needs were best met. We needed respite and our room had a splendid view of Grasmere.
Staying for 11 days without any changes to the Dinner Menu became unexciting. We found the very low temperature in the large lounge area uninviting. Few people used it. Consequently it didn’t encourage a sociable atmosphere or friendliness among guests.
In nature
Swimming pool could be much better and positioned
Fabulous location Attentive staff Food lovely Rooms very comfortable Spa
Would be good if had sunbeds in garden for good weather
Lovely location, quiet and close to Grasmere and Wordsworth museum. Easy to get a bus and hike around. Wonderful spa, and my wife enjoyed swimming in the lake.
Food was good, but service a little disjointed in the restaurant with a variety of people coming and going and not getting our order correct first time. Excellent wine however
The beautiful location, hotel and staff are excellent.
Only one niggle they don’t have soda water on tap.
Friendly staff, especially moses and Sarah jane whose invaluable guidance on what to do and places to go made our stay more special.

Convenient for all areas and it had beautiful surroundings picture perfect
Spa area quite small
The scenery is absolutely amazing. The staff were so helpful. Always there with a smile guaranteed. Comfortable and well kept. The EV charger was also a great bonus.
Everything was perfect.
We decided to eat here after a long walk. Service is excellent, we were attended to quickly, the selection of food was good, the brisket fries are well worth the money. It was quiet which was good, had a decent selection of drinks. The only downside was the cream tea didn’t come with tea or coffee which is unusual. Other than that it was a nice visit.
We did enjoy the scenic premise in tranquility with fantastic view over the Grasmere. Room is comfortable, towels are fluffy, while bathroom cleanness needs some polish. Breakfast quality is good while order menu is a bit limited. Generally it is a wonderful experience.
