Audleys Wood Hotel, Basingstoke

Nice building with a beautiful conservatory. The rooms and shared spaces were very clean. Beds very comfortable. Breakfast was really super.

The hotel is more an events type hotel. There was a wedding there on Friday and another on Saturday, it seems to cater for events and as quite a small venue this means during the day the main shared spaces are taken up by wedding guests, such as the bar, garden seating etc. took a very long time to Queue for a coffee and no seating outside to enjoy as wedding guests were there. The hotel staff were also busy with wedding guests on both days.

Breakfast was just ok, the fruit juices were not nice and everything had been on the hot counter for awhile so eggs were dry etc.

It’s rather beautiful it’s historical and there’s some beautiful features ideal for a wedding venue.

I like the grandeur of it, its gardens were beautiful, easy parking well maintained and had beautiful high ceilings in the main hall.

The hotel is lovely and the staff are so friendly, the rooms are comfortable, and the food was excellent.

This hotel seems to be mostly a wedding venue and at weekend there were weddings in the Friday and Saturday when we were there. It’s quite a small hotel so you can’t really enjoy the lounge/outdoor areas as these are in use for the weddings. It’s also a dog friendly hotel, which is fine, but on one night people left their dog in the room, and obviously went out, and the dog barked for 4 hours straight, well past 11pm, which kept my toddler up.

Großes, sehr sauberes Zimmer. Frühstück und Abendessen sehr lecker. Die Mitarbeiter waren alle sehr freundlich.

Im Zimmer roch es nach nassem Hund. Das war sehr unangenehm. Das liegt wahrscheinlich am Teppich. Das Badezimmer benötigt eine Renovierung. Es wäre schön die Fenster vernünftig öffnen zu können, nicht nur einen Spalt.

Just a hotel….surprised at no pool etc for the price and nothing near it.

The room and the hotel was lovely and beautiful location.

We found breakfast price of £25/ person to experience then we didn't have.

The staff were among the most professional I've encountered at a hotel, a real high standard. The rooms were nice, comfortable beds, and excellent air-conditioning, good bar with decent selection and a great breakfast (of a little bit expensive)

Shower was a let down, good enough for a quick clean but nothing fancy, could do with a modern replacement.

I went away for peace and quiet, but with a touch of luxury. The hotel and staff matched my expectations. From the countryside location, to excellent room, food and staff interactions. I've visited before and certainly will again.

For this visit everything was as I wanted it.

A wider choice on the restaurant menu-quite a limited choice-although what we did have was done well, but wouldn't have chosen to eat there a second night if we'd been there. In particular some better bar snacks or platters. As it was wet we spent an afternoon in bar lounge playing card games etc, some bar nibbles/nachos or similar would have been nice.

Struttura molto elegante , con un bellissimo parco , personale molto gentile. Il posto dove rilassarsi leggendo un buon libro è sorseggiare un teh! Avevamo una camera quadrupla con due letti matrimoniali alla francese molto comodi. In camera c’era tutto quello che ci poteva servire . Abbiamo goduto della colazione ( super!) e abbiamo anche cenato al ristorante . Il menù non troppo vario ma pietanze molto buone , menù bambini a prezzi ridotti. Ottimo il controfiletto ! E ottimo anche il Vino italiano presente nella carta dei vini !

La mancia aggiuntiva del 15% al ristorante ..per gli inglesi è normale ma per altri è spesso una sorpresa !!

It was a beautiful setting in a lovely location. All staff were courteous and helpful. We were a family of four and had a great time.

Splendid location, buildings and surrounds. Staff efficient and above all kind.. Large and characterful room added to a sense of occasion. Not cheap in either sense but decent value for the occasion we were marking.

Unfortunately we did find the staff quite rude, they were condescending at times and actually snappy aswell a few times. My family felt the same way. The reception staff were all professional and lovely to deal with.

We've stayed here before so knew what to expect. The staff as always were delightul - always friendly & helpful. However the bathrooms are starting to look pretty shabby - probably due for a refurbishment soon. But it suits us fine - the location is perfect for us - rooms spacious & clean & the hotel is surprisingly peaceful given the location. The mattresses are on the hard side, in our opinion, & my partner now knows to bring his mattress-topper! He needs a really soft bed, though, but even I found them pretty solid! But we'd happily stay there again & probably will.

The visit was the second 3 nights of the summer. Superb once again as was last year’s visits. Couldn’t fault a thing. Always have a ground floor room facing the grounds / lawns. Quality food. Staff are excellent, excelling in professionalism, courtesy and happiness. It obviously comes from the General Manager James Webb downwards. Well done to all

It is not really up to date, however it has a good design. The very close connection to M4 makes it reachable but also minimal noisy.

We were due to eat in The Conservatory restaurant. This was booked as we were very excited to try your two AA rosette crafted to reflect seasonality (according to your website). Imagine my horror to discover that there is no AS rosette and there were only 5 choices of main course; three of which were beef! When we queried this we were told that the menu never changes. So, your claim of seasonality is false advertising. As usual your deception around your Aa rosette status. My advice is to avoid these charlatans.

We have wanted to stay here twice before but because of covid it did not happen. We were finally here to stay. We were greeted warmly and check in was smooth. The Lavinia Fenton suite was lovely, in the main house but it had no air conditioning which I felt should be mentioned on their website. As there were heatwaves it was very uncomfortable to sleep. The windows are secured so they only open a tiny way like 5cms so getting a breeze was pretty impossible. We did get 3 fans but they really didn't do much. Food isn’t very good in the restaurant. We were so disappointed as we had intended to dine in each night but after the first night we decided against it. They had planned Window cleaneing but gave residents no notice. So only realised when i got out of the shower and a window cleaner was looking in my window with me naked as I came out of the bathroom. because no one was advised all the windows were open so water was spraying into the rooms, drenching the widow sill onto the carpet. Obviously this was a complete lack of privacy. Housekeeping took a bottle away with whisky still in it from the sideboard. It wasn't in the bin. We were compensated with 2 drinks in the bar. Unfortunately it is a destination so it was over run with groups conferences and weddings even though we were there wed to friday. It was very difficult to find a space that was not invaded by them. I feel they should have been offered there own meeting spaces fro drinks etc. so other guests could use the bar, or lounge and restaurant.

Beautiful hotel! The rooms were very big, very clean, quiet and air conditioned. There are lovely grounds to explore and enjoy. The hotel allowed us to have a birthday mini celebration outside with cake and balloons, which was very much appreciated. Would stay again and would recommend!

The breakfast was excellent, highly recommend! Most of the staff were very friendly. Loved our room, and the grounds were beautiful. It was our first time in the area, and at this hotel. We truly felt welcome and the stay was much needed! Can't wait to stay again!

One member of staff was quite cold, but perhaps she was having a bad day. There were a large number of flies in the property, most centered upstairs by the staircase going to rooms off of reception.

Breakfast was way too expensive for what was offered. Breakfast staff were very unpleasant, they were very rude when we ordered something off the many suggesting that the food items were already at the buffet. He sarcastically said he would get the chef to plate up the buffet items for us. Coffee machine was also broken which isn’t acceptable

Having been to the hotel for may parents 65th wedding anniversary I would book again for my Fathers 90th birthday, I should have known when I called 2 weeks before the date we where booked in for a family celebration, they could not find the booking, re booked but now I wish we hadn't We had 6 starters 4mains and 6 deserts and a bottle of sparking wine The cost was £365.00 The food was appalling, clearly the mains where microwaved, the starters, a so called prawn cocktail, 4 prawns on a flat plate with 4 drops of sauce and a chargrilled baby gem, disgusting, and that came with an extra fee , the entire meal was disgusting I was asked why I dint complain at the time and did so the next day, why would I, I was devastated that such a celebration was ruined I wasn't looking for compensation, just as well really as I was offered an afternoon tea for 2? there was 6 in the booking I declined the offer

The staff on arrival, in the bar and at breakfast were very friendly and went out of their way to assist. Our request for extra pillows was met promptly. Loved the bathroom although for a suite, would have expected a walk-in shower. The bathroom products were really good. Never come across this brand before, but I have order the body wash as it smelt lovely.

We were attending a wedding and booked a suite for 2 nights. The suite smelt musty/old. Appreciate it is an older building but not pleasant. Also we left a do not disturb sign on the door only to return later and found that the sign had been removed and someone had clearly entered the room.

This is a luxury hotel that is very reasonably priced. The rooms are spacious, bed is very comfortable and air con chilly. MAKE SURE YOU BOOK A ROOM WITH AIR if visiting in the summer. The dining is delicious and the breakfast is perfect. All staff was very welcoming. Sabastian, in the dining area welcomed us by name after the first day. Zoe and Stephanie were happy to see us every morning, they all made us feel like family. We will be staying here again. We enjoyed having this as our base for day trips, it is in a great location.

Das ganze Anwesen ist ein Traum. Das Personal ist sehr sehr freundlich und das ganze Haus sehr sauber, auch die Gartenanlage ist sehr gepflegt. Der Aufenthalt war für uns mehr als 4 Sterne Niveau. Hunde sind nicht nur geduldet, sondern sehr willkommen. Das Frühstück war ganz toll. Insgesamt ein super Preis-Leistungsverhältnis und absolut empfehlenswert. Danke dass wir Ihre Gäste sein durften!

The Beds the outdoor , the breakfast was amazing we love it ! As a bride who was getting married the day I was really impressed I booked the hotel just for the night before my wedding for me and girls to be comfortable and have photos of the place , my stay and stuff was exceptional. Will definitely book again.

The entrance door needed a little cleaning done on glass door they were finger prints on it everywhere.

Expensive for drinks and breakfast

The sitting rooms had spectacular wood carvings and plastered ceilings. The bedroom wings were 1080s design with lots of space and very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was warm and cosy.
