Room was adequate, the bar area comfortable where we had a meal, although disappointed in the limited choice, the choice for breakfast was good
The breakfast was good as were the staff in reception
My car hadn’t been valeted overnight and it didn’t have a full tank of diesel. Apart from that it was excellent.

I stayed in this hotel 3 years ago and I have noticed a massive change in better. Highly recommended.
I was happy with evertyhing.
Friendly reception
No heating Ice cold room
Quiet spacious room and bathroom. Comfortable bed and smart TV.
The height of the shower head was too low an not adjustable. I am quite tall.
Comfortable and clean
Food and service was poorly. The decor was dated and needed refreshing

The only good thing about this hotel was the location and the ladies from weekday morning shifts( especially ones from breakfast).
We've been using Holiday Inn in different locations, but so far , this one was the worst out of all. According to our booking, there was meant to be one large double bed and two sofa beds but when we arrived, sofa beds were not done, only one single compact folding bed was there with two sofas next to it. There was no hairdryer, no mini fridge and the tap in the bathroom was placed in such a way that my child was not able to reach it and wash her hands without us lifting her up( she's seven years old and 3.5 stones ) . There was also a door in the wall that I believe was leading to next room ( from the looks of it ). When we asked hotel manager to remove the compact folding bed because it was causing obstruction in the room, he said it'll be taken the next day, but it didn't happen. It stayed until we checked out. Apart from that there was not side lamps or any other lighting apart from ceiling lights. There was hardly any cleaning done and breakfast selection was very limited, each day there was something missing. Overall, I wouldn't recommend staying there, unless it's necessary.
Everything was perfect
No concerns
Breakfast was good
A bit more fruit offered like Melon and bananas.
The location, parking & staff were great especially the housekeeping (Meter was very helpful) Food quality was good
The staff were overworked it was obvious to us they were understaffed Drinks were very expensive
room and bed were clean and comfortable
no advance notification that there were problems with the kitchen therefore no restaurant open and limited bar menu of a curry or pizza - after arriving in the evening after a long drive one doesn't really want to be going out again looking for supper having booked a hotel which having used previously had an acceptable menu. the curry was at least tasty.
everything
the environment is fantastic
Reception area was clean and room was ok with lovely shower very hot, bed was super comfy
Firstly gentleman on reception didn't other give directions to location of the rooms and had to ask, walking to my room there was a bad odour in the corridor door and looked like need a clean and bit of painting and few busted locks as well.
The room was shady and AC worked well (visited during one of the many heatwaves). The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. Breakfast was extensive.
The guests in the room directly above us were noisy, but that wasnt the hotels fault.
I think the hotel is undergoing an update, however I had an older room which was dissapointing. There was no cold water from either the bath / shower or sink There didn't seem to be enough staff working, so staff were doing multiple jobs therefore having to wait in the bar area for someone to acknowledge us & serve us
Everything, size of room, breakfast, cleanliness and the people.
Nothing
Room had been recently refurbed, very nice. Slight smell of paint but very nice. AC a treat. Great shower.
Nothing really.
Blue badge parking was very near reception. We were offered help with our luggage which was good. Room comfortable and clean. Good choices at breakfast
Noting really - happy with everything
A comfortable and nice bedroom in a quiet area with a free car park.
Very nice room, very clean and comfortable
Very clean and modern! Friendly staff and very helpful. Plenty of parking with shops nearby open late. Very comfy rooms and beds!
Nothing!
The room was good it needed some updating in the bathroom the plug was missing and a shower curtain which is quite dated. It was all very clean just needed a bit of a refurbishment. The staff were lovely welcoming and helpful. The breakfast was good and lovely surroundings.
Just the room and bathroom needed a refurbishment.
Great friendly staff, clean comfortable room, great range of food for breakfast
Noththing
The location, the reception area and friendly staff
A bit aged room and furniture, etc.
check in was Ok room was OK Breakfast ok but many items empty
Lack of staff - one lady serving behind bar, delivering food and clearing up She looked exhausted !
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly.
Dinner It was simply not good. The beds were extremely hard, and all the doors in the place would bang shut.
-superb location -friendly staff -very good breakfast

Very clean, well looked after, comfortable, great shower and Tv
I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Basingstoke while travelling for business, and unfortunately I experienced what I consider to be a very serious security issue. Upon check-in, I was given a room key and went to what I believed was my allocated room. When I opened the door, I noticed the room contained two single beds rather than the double room I had booked. I then checked my room allocation slip and rechecked the room number on the door. To my horror, I realised that I had accidentally entered another guest's room. I immediately tried the room I had actually been allocated, and my key card opened the door as expected. However, the situation became even more concerning when I discovered that a colleague I was travelling with, who was staying in a completely different room in another part of the hotel, was also able to open doors using his key card. All this has been captured with video recordings and pictures. This raises a very serious question about the security of the hotel's room access system. As a guest, I would expect my key card to provide access only to my allocated room, not to other occupied guest rooms. I raised the issue immediately with hotel management. The explanation I was given was that refurbishment work was taking place and locks were being changed. I found this explanation unconvincing, particularly as the hotel uses digital key-card access. I have also contacted IHG Guest Relations more than five times and provided my case reference. Unfortunately, despite being told that hotel management would contact me, I have received no call or meaningful follow-up. I have simply been told that this is an issue for the hotel to deal with. No refund, no help - nothing. I find this extremely disappointing. This was not simply a minor inconvenience or a service issue; it was, in my view, a significant security concern. Fortunately, on this occasion, I was the person who accidentally entered the wrong room. But what if the situation had been reversed? What if another guest had been able to access my room while I or my belongings were inside? What if this had happened to a family travelling with young children? I sincerely hope the hotel and IHG take this matter seriously, investigate exactly how this happened, and ensure that it cannot happen again. This is second time staying at IHG and puts me off ever staying at their locations. I would strongly encourage management to review the security of the room access system and provide a proper explanation to affected guests. I am still waiting for someone from the hotel to contact me.
We used this for a early ferry to isle of wight quick access to main road great vaule clean and tidy modern rooms and bar area .
Everything was good, a comfortable and clean room, very very helpful staff. I really appreciated the late check out.
There was quite a lot of noise from other guests, but it was summer and a lot of people milling around outside which made noise audible.
The property is in need of refurbishing
convenient
Staffs were friendly and helpful
The a/c wasn't working
Despite these issues, the breakfast service was notably well-prepared and visually appealing.
The quality of the food fell short of expectations, as both the taste and presentation were subpar, resulting in an unappealing dining experience. Specifically, the chicken burger appeared to consist of reconstituted meat, which detracted from its overall appeal.Additionally, the bedding was uncomfortable due to its lumpy texture, contributing to a poor night’s sleep and neck ache .
Location to Basingstoke was the only real benefit.
The rooms were advertised as having aircon. Despite it allegedly working, the room was stiffling. We asked for this to be looked at and despite staff coming and saying that they would get the maintenance team to look at it, it wasn't fixed and we had little sleep that night. The walls were paper thin and we could hear every conversation happening next door. Lastly, when checking out, we had to wait a good 5 minutes, along with another guest, while the receptionist had a private conversation with her partner. I wouldn't have paid £10 for the room, nevermind £150, had I have known.
Extremely good air conditioning
It’s a little bit tired looking in places, however renovations are happening
Clean . Fair sized room. Air conditooning . Good sized tv
Bed a bit hard
The location
The hotel was getting refurbished, work started early morning and I wasn’t advised of this beforehand
Nothing
We checked in around 9pm and was allocated a very small room. It was a very warm night (24 degrees outside)and the air conditioning in the room wasn't working, it was blowing out warm air, so we asked the reception if it could be fixed. We went to the bar to get a drink as the room was too hot and waited for them to fix it. After about an hour the reception told us that it couldn't be fixed and they didn't have another room to move us to. We were told that the hotel was full & they didn't have any portable fans. We had no option but to check out at 10.45pm and ended up driving to Southampton to get the midnight ferry home. They assured us that we would not be charged and would be able to get a refund which I believe they are now disputing. Avoid avoid avoid!
Local and aircon, with very friendly staff.
All good
Really poor experience. Parked at the rear due to poor signage and we felt lucky not to have been mugged! We realized there was a better car park at the front and moved. Booked in and went to room. Small, dark, dingy and no air con, although there was a fan. It also smelled strongly of paint. We went to get food. Restaurant advertised, but closed. We were told we could eat in the bar and were given a very limited menu, with nothing we could eat. One receptionist told us the chef had just arrived but the other said the chef had not turned up. He then said he had given us the wrong menu, but that no food was available. We decided to leave and then spent ages calling for someone at reception before they both came in from outside, fag break anyone? My money was refunded, but I now realize that my booking wasn't cancelled, it was wiped, presumably so Holiday Inn don't ask why I cancelled. I understand that there is an ongoing refurb, but some honesty about facilities would be good. Luckily Holiday Inn Reading had a room, and a restaurant!
No
A old building with outdated facilities. The bedding was dirty and stained. The air conditioning was not working.
Excellent breakfast
Sauberes Business Hotel mit vielen Parkplätze, freundliches Personal. Restaurant okay mit vernünftigen Essen und Preisen. Fehlende TV Fernbedienung wurde umgehend beschafft. Gutes Frühstück.
WC Spülung im Bad hing etwas.
Lovely staff, comfy room, air con was a godsend in the heatwave.
It was super noisy. We could hear everyone walking down the corridor outside and above, and the cleaning staff were talking and singing loudly whilst we were still trying to sleep.
Clean - friendly welcome
Arrived late at night with our child. Air con not working in 35c heatwave. Drunk anti-social individual wandering in and out randomly from the street, frightening for kids and unsafe. We had to pay £110 more and drive another 1.5 hours to find another hotel and arrived after midnight. Awful experience.
Freshly refurbished room with working aircon
Tables in bar area little bit dirty
The country is on an amber weather and the aircon is not working . No apologies The previous time I stay (2 months ago) the showers weren’t working for two days Completely dreadful experience
Friendly staff good food comfy room pleasant stay
The air con was not working as it should but a large fan was in the room and worked fine apart from that all good
Liegt super an der Autobahn
Restaurant Sonntags geschlossen
Breakfast was good
Air conditioning didn’t work properly, noisy room
The property was very clean and welcoming. The room was well maintained and comfortable.
Nothing
Breakfast was excellent, lovely bar, very helpful staff. Very restful room.
Staff shortages. Paid for breakfast, but it ran out. Lots of guests went without. Room cold. Bathroom could have been cleaner. Some staff friendly and courteous. Others felt like they were stalking and watching you like a hawk. Very uncomfortable. Would not stay again.
As above.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great.
The aircon was struggling during the day especially as it was hot, this needs to be checked.
Reception staff were helpful and the room was large and very well equipped, shower was amazing
Parking was plenty and free
It was old and dirty also building works going on till 19:00 in the evening very disruptive
Room clean and tidy. Free car park.
Restuarant was closed for evening meal. Bar menu offered few substantial meals.
Breakfast great, great staff, food good.
The room we were given was dire, the corridor unkempt, wood unpainted. Room just awful We thought we were in the wrong hotel. I asked reception if there was a better room and found that the one we were in was being refurbished. Although she said they were fully booked she "managed" to find another room. Clean, bright, comfortable. The hotel was said to be 4 star, that is why we chose it. Looking at the first room it should never even have one star. I would still not say the hotel should be advertised as 4 star, the receptionist said it was more 3 star. I say 2 star.
Convenient and free parking
The room had a party door and neighbours were very noisy all night. The restaurant menu was pathetic. 3 curries and 3 pizzas. That’s not a restaurant menu
Staffs were really helpful.
I had booked Standard Queen room for my parents, June 6-7 as they had to attend a function. They had a very bad experience with the room provided as it had water leakage from the toilet and carpet was all soggy wet, dirty bed sheet and duvet. My parents had to request for room change but they were requested to accommodate on that room as there’s no other spare rooms and the hotel is fully booked. After finding the bed sheet and duvet was also dirty, my parents had to again call the Duty Manager to investigate the room himself and arrange another room as it was nearly 11pm. My parents were then provided second room with twin bed and was way more cleaner than the first one.
Hotel lag gunstig voor de weg naar de boot in Dover en het centrum was te voet goed te bereiken. Ontbijt was goed.
Het avond eten was niet echt goed.
Not much , the bar area was nice
Old and tired heating did not work , the shower was next to useless, the staff unhelpful.
Externals need attention
Clean room. Comfortable bed.
Air conditioning was not functioning; I had phoned earlier and they had said it was fine. Hmmm!. Very bad night. 30 degrees plus.
It was very clean, seemed to have been rcently renovated
Everything
Nothing
All round very satisfactory
Arrived about 9:00pm, no food available at all
What a dump booked over a year ago got put in a room with air con not working, only one towel for 2 people.out side was run down as was our room worst hoilday inn we have stayed in.
Not much really, a very old and dated hotel, staff very pleasant and polite.
The room I stayed in was not that comfortable and the bathroom wasn't particularly clean.
Perfect for what we needed, good location, parking and very helpful staff.
The man who sorted our room out, was lovely, very friendly and polite and made us feel welcome.
Was not anything to dislike, room was clean and comfortable.
We stayed for 1 night and I would not recommend staying here again. Stale odour throughout the hotel, incredibly dated and needs modernising. We had an inter-joining room as a family of 5 we stayed during in a heatwave air con did not work in both rooms we were given fans which didn't do a lot either. On arrival there was no one at reception or the bar we stood waiting for ages before being checked in. Breakfast was ok, waitress was on her own doing everything very short staffed. I wouldn't stay her again nor would I recommend this for a family.
It was all fine
Main concern was rat traps placed around the hotel which had dead/decomposing rats in them. Traps obviously had not been checked for a while and live rats not able to enter the traps...
Everything was good for me I enjoyed my stay
The heating wasn't working and this is the time am facing this problem....
One night stay at the property and won’t be high on the list for a return. Car park is small but once you get to your room you realise there is another to the rear. Must have missed the signpost! Bar area is unattractive and the food was on reduced list as they were doing a refurb so didn’t eat here. Overhead a staff member saying it might be a while before it’s sorted! Stood at the bar for about 5 minutes before someone arrived to take a drinks order. Likewise, trying to find a receptionist is equally challenging. Was upgraded to a new room! The rooms are not really finished and miss some touches ie no soap dispenser near the sink. Only hand soap in the shower! Bathroom and room is pretty basic and heating system so difficult to use. Had breakfast and everything was over cooked, hard bacon, dry sausages, hard friend eggs etc. Sorry IHG I know this is a franchised property but you need to get someone in to do a big review as this will damage your reputation!
Good location excellent value for money, friendly staff
The property didn’t really have much to like.
The pillows were so thin and old, I was in a “refurbished room”, even through the mattress and chair had stains on them. There was a bunch of strangers screaming and shouting all night in the hotel, a guy walking around on crutches telling everyone his wife broke his leg! Breakfast was the worst, coffee tasted out of date and the latte is half water and was undrinkable. I went for a second thinking I got the first batch after it being cleaned as it had a strange taste. No, it was just the taste of the coffee. There is pictures up of the CEO EVERYWHERE, found it a bit strange and very “cult like”, I counted at least three portrayed of the CEO near reception without “founder of the nine group”. The duty manager was lovely at check in, but there was a woman there late at night who did not smile once and zero customer service skills. Seemed really unapproachable, I asked what time breakfast was and the death glare she gave me while she was sorting paper work was deadly. No name badge, I assume it was one of the deputy’s family. In the morning there was a guy rolling tobacco up at the main desk wearing Cookie Monster Pyjama pants. You could not go near the reception without him trying to do the receptionist job. I asked where the breakfast area was, before the woman replied this man marched me to the cafe area, asked where I was from and what I was doing at the hotel. Literally sat me down at my table and was asking me 100 questions! Was so intimidating and unsettling! Everyone asking questions to the receptionist was getting a reply from this man and the staff looked like it was normal but it was an awful experience! I thought this man was homeless. Why is there a guest on your site interacting with customers and the staff seemed okay about it? Also, toilet doors are broken in the men’s, there was urine all over the floors too. All the plates at breakfast still had debris on them, dried pieces of scrambled egg. I tried changing plates but they all seemed the same.
Good location, Plenty of parking
Room was next to a linen cupboard, washing machine / tumble drier was being used till 2300, kept us awake, had an early start. Sink tap had no pressure
We chose to stay here for easy access to a nearby wedding venue.
We were very happy with the hotel.
We enjoyed our stay purely because it was not busy, certainly not at capacity anyway. We were awoken on the 1st morning at 6am by doors closing and people talking in the corridor. We assumed that these were the cleaners going in and out of the cupboard near our room. It was a Sunday morning so not ideal to be woken up that early. Overall the room was fine.
Being woken up at 6am on a Sunday. The breakfast room blinds need a good clean, many cobwebs and bugs stuck in them next to where we sat.
Nice bed an bath
Not a very good food menu in fact it's rubbish
Was clean , staff very friendly and a late check out time
The carpet leading to the room looked tired , breakfast expensive
Staff behaviour and cleaning
Broken coffee machine and non available of brown bread in breakfast.
I’ve stayed at this hotel on several occasions as it is a 10 minute walk to my brother & sister in law’s.
There isn’t anything that I dislike.
