Central location with ample free parking. The room was spacious and well presented. Breakfast was good, although the bacon was very fatty and the sausages a bit undercooked.

Staff were so friendly. Especially the lady in the breakfast area on the morning of the Tuesday 25th August, sorry I didn’t ask her name. She is a great asset, super friendly, helpful, engaged with us before we even had a chance to ask how the breakfast works. Lady’s on the reception also super friendly and smiley.

Room was quite spacious. Whilst overall the hotel is quite dated, the room and ensuite bathroom had been recently updated to a very good standard (shower was excellent!). The location, with free parking, was excellent. Breakfast was very good and if booked at the hotel the night before, only £10 per head.

It was clean and beds are very comfortable. Location is goodd as was easy to get there.

The rooms were just very hot and one fan cold not do the job. We had to leave widows open for some ventilation as such noise filtered in from outside. The noise is not their fault as we were aware the hotel is located in the town center. However, we wish there were better fans.

Very noisy as between rooms you can hear even the breathing of your next room person that makes you not too sleep, cleaners were friendly, housekeeper was friendly, but this has not reflected on other staff.

The property is in the city centre and very accessible.

So the hotel has a major bed bugs problem. After my 2nd day i saw bed bugs and i couldn’t sleep properly. The room was on the top floor and no air conditioning so the room was always hot 24/7 and poor ventilation.

Lovely staff, very accommodating and helpful, I didn’t arrive until after midnight as travelled down from London. I had been warned about the noise from the road my room faced , but was able to close the windows and use a fan to cool the room, enabling me to sleep well.

Accommodation was clean, lovely sheets on the bed and lovely towels. No mat in the bath but I could easily request that . Felt the room was a little tired and outdated. Felt like one of the old worldly hotels you used to get. But I had paid a good price last minute so I am not really complaining just pointing it out. .

Too hot to sleep, a fan that did nothing, air con would be good, two nights didn't sleep, and in the pub area smelt dreadful of grease and oil from cooking, couldn't sit in there

My husband and I stay here often, the situation to shops and restaurants is perfect. You can park the car before check-in and they are happy if you leave the car once you check out, just for a couple of hours not all day. Very clean, tidy and staff are very helpful.

If I was to have to say something all i can say is more milk sugar sachets to be put in the room.

The lights in the bedroom fused so only the tv for light all night. The flickering light was not conducive to sleep. The mattress was uncomfortable.

Room was clean, so as the toilet. Staff is accommodating, allowed us to check in a bit early. Rules were explained properly, and also offered additional information. We were out a bit late during the first night, and they correctly instructed us on how to get in the hotel even though they have a curfew of 23:00.

The noise from other rooms, as well as from outside the hotel. You can clearly hear voices through walls, and at times it woke up my wife during her sleep. I do not think it is the hotel's fault, but something to think about.

Firstly the receptionist as I entered was super friendly, welcoming and helpful. I liked the layout of the atmospheric old-style building; such as the winding staircase for the top floor where I stayed.

The room is in need of an update - matress needs a.topper as springs are protruding and uncomfortable to sleep on; shower leaked extensively onto bathroom floor.

Het ontbijt had best wat meer kwaliteit mogen hebben. Het was niet aantrekkelijk uitgestald en erg karig. De mevrouw die ons bediende werkte hard en was erg vriendelijk.

Very big hotel with plenty of rooms. I originally booked for one night, then later decided to book a second night. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to book the same room at the time, which was absolutely fine with me. However, when I checked in, the hotel staff had already noticed the separate bookings and arranged for me to stay in the same room for both nights without me even asking. I thought that was top-notch service. All the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. I was warned that the hotel can be lively and noisy due to the function room downstairs and the local nightlife, but I must have been lucky as my room was very quiet and I wasn't disturbed at all. The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. A fan was provided, which was much appreciated as the weather was particularly hot. There were tea and coffee making facilities, along with a TV with Freeview channels. The bathroom was clean, with hand soap and shower gel provided. It had a shower over the bath, which was a nice change as I do enjoy a good bath from time to time. The shower was easy to use, had good water pressure, and it was simple to adjust the temperature. There was also plenty of storage space for clothes if needed. Overall, I had a lovely stay at a very reasonable price and would happily stay here again.

Staff were great, but the hotel looks tired and in need of a lick of paint and a steam clean. However, it must be respected this building has been around since around 1603, so expect uneven creaky floors. We had a great room, the Vyne Room, two windows for lots of natural light and ventilation, only marred by a noisy nearby bar, but it was tolerable. Breakfast was basic, the bacon was missing from mine, but I let it go as I had changed my order and felt it unfair to complain. The hotel side is very nice, the tavern side was a bit smelly and the carpets needed cleaning, but I think this is operated as a separate business, however, the local ale was very good.

No complaints really, but a facelift, paint-job or whatever would lift the property and make it much more appealing.

There is nothing I didn’t like.

Did not have breakfast as served too late over the weekend. No air-conditioning, so room too hot. Bathroom ok. Bar and evening food not great, screaming children, food average. Ate out the following night. All in all, a bit tired, not very well run, but, I guess, reflected in the price.

This is a functional, clean and tidy hotel. Nothing fancy but exactly what you need. The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient.
