I love the bar All the food was excellent
Nothing
Great location with free parking
TV didn't work
Location was good SOME of the staff were friendly but definitely not the bar staff !!!
Difficult one to review this one as initially we thought it was a nice enough old hotel . First all the staff seemed very friendly and accommodating. Our room itself was OK and had everything in iron , ironing board , hairdryer , kettle etc . The room could had done with updating a bit but was of no great issue . The shower was only luke warm at best and the pressure was low on cold tap and hence WC took ages to refill , again , nothing major. There seemed to be a party or some function in the bar we wasn’t aware off so it was very noisey until late - again just a small niggle HOWEVER what I did object to was how the bar was run ! After returning from our night out to see a play at around 10.30 we thought we would have a quick drink and I queued at the side of the bar , waiting my turn , when a young girl behind the bar said ‘ are you waiting for a drink ‘ I replied ‘yes please ‘ in which she rudely said ‘ then go to the front you won’t be served there ‘ . With this we decided not to bother with a drink as I don’t appreciate being spoken to how I was. However out of curiosity I stayed and watched 3 other people get served from where I stood ! I Reapproached the barmaid and asked why they were getting served as I was told I wouldn’t . I wasn’t really given an answer only that they are busy . I went to reception and asked to talk to the manager and was shown the bar manger. I approached him and said what had happened and he said ‘she was right ‘ you can’t get served from the side ( see photo) I explained that 1.how was I to know that ie no signs and looks like a bar 2. Why couldn’t I had been told in a civil matter rather than the way I was spoken to . I then got a most insincere ‘sorry about that ‘ then the most sarcastic’ enjoy the rest of your night ‘ !!! I was fuming !! Absolutely no need to had been spoken to in this manner ! This spoilt our weekend totally and wish we hadn’t booked . I the morning checking out , again , the bloke on reception was pleasant and th
Super beliggenhet, og stor parkeringsplass i bakgården. Fantastisk atmosfære og miljø
Lovely accommodation and perfectly situated in the city centre
Very rustic
Decor, but that’s subjective
Everything it was close to Everything and the hotel was lovely and clean and the was amazing
Nothing
Altehrwürdiges britisches Hotel in gutem Zustand und zentraler Lage mit gemütlichen Zimmern, freundlichem Personal und abwechslungsreichem Frühstück zu einem fairen Preis.
We went to see the cathedral, it was close to that
The road layout around the hotel is very confusing if you’ve never been there before
Location was good
Room keys difficult to work especially in toilets etc
Great location, close to the city centre and 10 mins away from the train station. The hotel seems to have a very lively bar downstairs (we arrived late, but would have loved to try it otherwise!). The room was quiet and clean; a bit dated, but it had everything needed for basic comfort. The price was very reasonable.
Breakfast at the hotel was really pricey, so we did not book it. The beds weren't the most comfy because the mattresses were very soft, but they were fine for the night.
Not much
Parking unavailable cost me £17 at local multi storey. Breakfast was not included. Staff very dismissive. Won't stay again.
Lovely old coaching inn. Good food, friendly, efficient staff.
Excellent directions when I rang the lady on reception, after we got stuck in the one way system. The young man in the bar, and who took our dinner order, was very chatty and pleasant. The food was delicious, and the portions were huge! Our room was very comfortable and the bathroom looked newly fitted and clean. A lovely old style coaching inn, with an amazing history.
The postcode that we were given on Booking.com is incorrect, which caused us to get stuck in the one way system near the hotel. The correct one, which I can't remember right now, ends with an X I think. Ring the hotel directly for the right one. Take care when turning into, and exiting, the car park, as although the car park itself is roomy enough, the entrance and exits are on very tight turns, with cars parked down one side, and pedestrians appearing from nowhere! I realise there's not much that can be done about that, it's just a heads up.
Friendly staff
Overall enjoyed my stay but lack of a lift meant a struggle carrying a large case to my room. Also the room key cards were a struggle.
Hotel and bar both fabulous Food in the bar was excellent as was the staff team
The main issue I had was Booking.com have the wrong postcode. This took me to the front of the hotel which is the pedestrianised no entry area. Call to the hotel and the correct postcode was provided so that the car park entrance could be accessed.
Convenient location with city centre parking.
For an 'Executive' room it wasn't anything special apart from having a desk and chair. The hair dryer was missing from the room and we had to request one from Reception. The key cards are a bit of a pain - we sometimes had to insert them in the slot 7 or 8 times before the door would open.
Been many times and very nicely run
The town centre is starting to run down sadly
Breakfast was nice.
I found the staff at this hotel pleasant and helpful. We ate in the bar every evening, and the menu was varied with something for everyone. The food was good and it wasn't too expensive. The central position of the hotel was great for shopping and it is very close to the beautiful cathedral. Despite being right in the cente, it was extremely quiet at night. Having a free car park was a bonus!
The breakfast, although plentiful, wasn't of the best quality. I had booked an executive room, but it was very dated, not what I'd expect of a 4* The pillows, although clean, had been washed so many times the filling had clumped into hard lumps. However, when I asked at reception for a feather pillow, they provided one very quickly. When the hotel was busy, it was sometimes difficult to find somewhere to sit and eat dinner in the bar, but the restaurant wasn't open. One last thing. Get some fruit in the bar for the cocktails! 🍒🍓
staff great and comphy bed
all good
The bed was large and comfortable and there was a nice atmosphere in the pub downstairs. Check in and out was easy and quick. It was a very convenient place to stay after Burghley horse trials.
Unfortunately the television didn’t work in our room and there were no outlets anywhere near the bed to charge our phones. Also it would have been nice if bottles of water were provided in the room.
Secure car park. Good sized, clean room. Good vibe in the bar.
The food.
Great location fir Burghley
The post code given is no where near the Bull Hotel I spent over 45 mins trying to find the hotel
The staff were exceptionally professional friendly helpful and hard working
The postcode on booking . Com for directions is incorrect so I had to phone property
Friendly staff . Very clean Good menu and reasonably priced Great parking
Some areas. Were a little tired
Nice hotel
Love it
So noce
Location The hotel felt very dark and dated throughout. The reception and bar/drinking areas had a gloomy, gothic feel and were so dark that they were quite uninviting. The rooms were extremely small, old-fashioned and very noisy. There is no lift, so having to climb three flights of stairs with luggage was far from ideal. The bathroom was particularly disappointing, with visible mould and dirt, and the overall standard of cleanliness was poor. The whole hotel felt very old, tired and in need of a significant refurbishment.
I also felt extremely unsafe during my stay. There were men sitting directly outside car park exit very drunk rolling about , at one point making it difficult to even leave the car park. I did not feel safe either inside or outside the hotel, and I was genuinely concerned about leaving my car there overnight. Overall, the hotel felt dirty, run-down and insecure, and I would not choose to stay here again. Actually bailed before staying the night and booked another hotel. Às a single female first priority is feeling safe
Lovely building, friendly and helpful staff. A good breakfast
Value for money was stand out.
The difficulty finding the car park.
Breakfast tasty. And good choices. And friendly staff and well spaced out tables.
Could have cleared away plates sooner, to make more room diner to finish breakfast. A little soft music might be something to consider.
Location very central. Pleasant staff. Spacious room large comfy bed.
Breakfast a little chaotic as you wait to be seated and then told to sit anywhere but all of the empty tables hadn't been cleaned away. But apart from that all good.
Location to town centre and a listed building with character
For the 2nd year running staff in breakfast hall did not have any coordination could not cope with demand kept running out of breakfast items despite ordering a poached egg and second request took 20 minutes to arrive had to ask staff for tea / toast. I wanted grilled tomato with my breakfast told would be 15 minutes!!! After complaining the 2nd morning everything went well but cost the Hotel £20 as was given a voucher as way of an apology. As I said same happened last year
Great location in centre of town and with free parking. Friendly staff, clean and spacious room.
We didn’t have the breakfast as we thought it was too expensive. The bathroom extractor didn’t work.
I hadn't realised you didn't have a lift and my room was initially on the 2nd floor, but after I asked I was moved to the 1st floor. Though with my arthritic knee I would have preferred to be on the ground floor. The staff were friendly and as helpful as they could be and I have no other complaints at all.
Location and bar. Good parking.
NA
Location, ambience
Bar was quite slow to serve
There was nothing to dislike, all staff were friendly and helpful. Room was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Have used the hotel before and have never had any negative things to say about it.
There was some minor noise outside into the night, which prompted me to open and close my window. This can be expected in city centre hotels.
Great accommodation and locatio
Restaurant meal disappointing
Staff were great.
I thought the bedrooms stated that they had air con but they didn’t. It wasn’t hot so no issue.
Clean comfortable room, aircon worked well, good breakfast, plenty of parking, really helpful staff
Nothing
All good
Lots of steps
Staff were helpful, room was a good size, bar area was very nice, and the foodn was enjoyable.
Love the building , nice and relaxed , used the bar area to have a quiet drink and talk business without being disturbed .
Wasnt keen on people arriving in late , then tramping around for another hour , but it is an old building so allowed .

The staff were very nice. I had to request taxis and had other enquiries on several occasions and they were very helpful. I especially liked the young man in the bar, who made me feel at home despite being a solo woman diner. The location was excellent, very near the cathedral.
I had trouble getting the key card to work in the door. They changed it once, but it always took many swipes before it worked. Also my room was on an upper floor and there is no elevator. I had to have a man carry my bag up the stairs (which they did very promptly and cheerfully).
Very central and near the train station.
Room was freezing to begin with. breakfast, sometimes someone served you but sometimes you could serve yourself, one day poached eggs offered, next day no. Tea and coffee was not very hot. Peterborough was a shock.
Good location. Good car park. Some nice staff.
This is definitely not a 4* hotel. It’s a wonderful old building but has certainly seen better days. The twin room I was given was pretty bad. Decor tired and not the cleanest. However, the real problem was the heat. There was no air con. The bathroom towel rail came in when the bathroom light did, so it was scorching. The room had a fan but that just blew the hot air around. I asked to be moved and the young lad on the desk moved me to an air conditioned room. Sweet relief. Looking online I could see the room was cheaper than the old room/price I’d paid. I do not know why I wasn’t placed in the 2nd room from the off.
Area it’s self needs investment Hotel excellent
Central location, free and secure parking, clean room and helpful staff
I have stayed at the Bull many times. It is a convenient walk from Peterbrough Station and is an old hotel with plenty of character. the beds are comfortable and the breakfast is reliable. The staff are friendly.
Nothing much. I know what I am expecting and it provides a reliable bed for a business traveller.
Excellent clean room. Excellent breakfast. Friendly staff. Parking facilities
Noise at night. Are there no security staff to move people on. Should staff be calling the police to assist.
Perfect location
Nothing
Great location
No Air con and no lift
Lovely atmosphere
Do many steps upto the room
Helpful and friendly staff. Supportive of us bringing our guide dog puppy who is in training. Spacious clean room. Central location
Free parking and good location
Air conditioning not working that well 😕
Couldn't find the car park
Great location. Nice food & comfy rooms

Warm welcome. Pleasant staff. Excellent location for centre of town.
Postcode for hotel. Unable to access by car. Ended up parking elsewhere and walking. Different postcode and map issued for car park which was then very straightforward. This should have been explained beforehand to save all the hassle.
Clean and comfortable room, hotel well presented
On arrival, informed room was at the front of the hotel, street view was of fire exit.
Had to carry suitcases to top floor (in our 80s) The room was unbearably hot with no air conditioning, not even a fan (though requested). Widow so secured that it would only open one inch - we were baked and unable to sleep. The heat was trapped in the staircase and rose as one climbed We should NEVER have been give a room below the roof when it was in the 30s outside.
The staff (all staff) were exceptional, very polite and had pleasing customer skills.
Nothing at all
Love the history of the property
Nothing to fault, although I was on level 1 with my suitcase going up the stairs so no complaints
Excellent central location though very difficult to find car park. Staff helpful and friendly. A beautiful old building
The room was very very hot, did find a fan eventually but was almost unbearable when first checked in.
Quick check-out - nice traditional bar
Lack of acknowledgment on reception as the receptionist and another guest were staring at each other in silence for some reason. Could easily have been explained as an aside. Bit odd
Bar / restaurant area are stunning
The rooms are rather dated
Location, evening meal.
Reception attitude after informing 2 days previous that there would only be 2 guests (Wife sick) so please remove one breakfast from 2 day stay. Thanked me and said they would infirm chef. When I arrived refused to deduct to cost of two breakfasts from tial bill. They said because I had booked through a 4rd Party (Booking.com).
The interior is quirky and old but the location isn't great and very hard to find the carpark even with my satnav.
The area it's situated
Some of my party did not have a fan or air con
convenient to train station and meals was very good.
we was only there one night but staff seemed not overly very helpful .
The property was centrally located, the hotel room was well equipped with everything I needed for my stay. The food I had in the evening was of a high quality
Tired. Needs a refresh..dark and gloomy too.
Needs an upgrade..its tired..car park grim. Entrance from car park a bit gloomy too
It was absolutely beautiful inside very clean and tidy
The location we didn’t find it easy to find the car park ourselves but the staff were very helpful in helping us locate it
On this stay our room was located on the 2nd floor at the front which was nicer than our previous stays towards the back of the hotel. Staff were all really nice and friendly.

Lovely hotel. The staff were very good. Great service and helped with any questions I had.
Lovely building, friendly helpful staff, nice food, close to shops and cathedral
Room was very hot but a fan was provided so it was ok
Good old world feel and less souless than the modern chains. The desk welcome was polite, professional and helpful. The decor was presentable as was the room Had some friendly chats with bar staff Good choice of food at breakfast. And represented good value
The breakfast service was inefficient Despite the menu promises, i had to ask for a hot drink and toast. The menu itself is not well presented. Several staff walked past or near me clearing and wiping down tables. Even the person who checked table numbers etc. Staff weren't delegated a group of tables to be responsible for. So nobody took responsibility. Some staff wandering around not being directed. My bedroom was stiflingly hot and airless. The radiator was off in the room. Was if in the rest of the hotel. And the temperature that day was normal for July. Unlike the previous week or so The car park entrance wasnt easy to find. I had to stop on the street run inside and reception man gave me a map I noticed parking charges were levied. But I couldnt see that mentioned on Booking.com. i phoned to check the location but not made clear. So I was relieved when the reception staff assured me it was free parking for residents
The hotel was really nice
The staff all seemed a little stressed and also we drove round 3 times to find entrance for hotel carpark before we called reception who was semi helpful
Worst nights sleep in a hotel in the UK
You sold me an aircon room - it was one of the hottest days of the year . Room was not airconditioned as your system was wrong - wrong desciption.
Good location
Central to get to buses and trains, near places to eat and shops. Said small double but was pleasantly surprised at how big it was. Definitely stay there again and recommended it to others I work with.
They weren’t able to print me out a receipt but was informed they would email me.
Building had a nice feel about it, staff were professional, nice bar and large car park. Rooms ok for the price.
No hook for clothes in the bathroom, shower controls a but awkward.
MEAL AND BREAKFAST WAS VERY GOOD
WE STAYED IN ROOM 264, NO AIR CONDITIONING ! IT WAS EXTREMLY HOT AND UNBEARABLE LIKE BEING IN A SAUNA THERE WAS A FAN BUT JUST CIRCULATED HOT AIR ! SO A TERRBILE NIGHTS SLEEP IT WAS SO HOT AND STUFFY COULD HARDLY BREATH
Hotel is very central in town close to shops , bars and restaurants. Staff are very friendly breakfast was excellent
Great location, extremely quiet, good breakfast
Wifi a bit suspect
Good location
No air con but was advertised with it. Staff took a long time to answer at the front desk. Long wait for invoice for the stay.
אין מעלית ואין מיזוג אויר וטלביזיה לא נוחה
The staff were lovely and polite
No lift. Being somewhat disabled i was placed on the top floor and no lift. I was offered help with my bags but i don’t like to impose. So i struggled. No air con in rooms either. I understand that the building is extremely old but it was awful with this heatwave. I did have a fan in my room tho.
Friendly and helpful staff
The door entrance card didn’t always work had to change it several times
Everything. The building was well situated. The decor was beautiful. The staff were courteous and knowledgeable. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was spotless. We didn't use the bar but it looked comfortable and clean.
Just one small thing: the car park isn't easy to find.
Comfortable and cozy hotel with great decor. Room was good size, air conditioning a bonus. Very friendly and helpful staff.
All the staff was very friendly and helpful
Excellent location very friendly staff
Rooms absolute furnace no air con in the hottest summer imaginable
