Was with my elderly mother and given a ground floor room close to all the facilities. Room well equipped and spotless. Comfy beds and very quiet. Breakfast was excellent- good quality and plenty of choice. Would definitely stay here again.

Reviewed Sep 19, 2026The location of the hotel is excellent. It's in the walking distance of main attractions and historic pubs. There are lots of places to eat and enjoy a drink within a 5-min walk in every direction.
The pricing of the hotel was very unusual. Out of four nights we stayed, one night was priced twice as expensive as the others. I am pretty sure is was because we added the fourth night later as our plans changed, so we were taking advantage of, which did not feel very welcoming.

Minor criticism, it stated that breakfast was served between 7.00am and 11.00am. We went down for breakfast just after 7.00 and there was no cooked breakfast only cereals and continental, this was fine we just waited but it would be more helpful if it was mentioned somewhere that cooked items would be available from say 7.30 / 8.00.

Cooked breakfast starts at 7am which is too late for a city centre business oriented hotel, I didnt bother with breakfast as a result. The bedrooms doors all close with a huge bang which woke me up a couple of times (please fit some slow close door hinges!). The water pressure for the bathroom/shower is very poor (as if the hotel has reduced the water pressure to reduce water consumption/costs!). No water in the room, disappointing given the cost of staying here

We booked a room for 3 with breakfast. Unfortunately 1 person took ill and could not make the journey last minute so only needed a twin not a triple. The curtains in the room were dirty. The shower was arguably clean, with visible heavy limescale that looked like it could no longer be properly cleaned. The whole room could use better and brighter lighting.

THE CHECK IN DIDN’T GO SMOOTHLY AND TOOK FAR LONGER THAN IT SHOULD HAVE. ON ARRIVAL I WAS TOLD THEY COULDN’T FIND MY BOOKING AND THEN WHEN THEY FINALLY DID, THEY SAID IT WAS ONLY FOR ONE NIGHT, WHICH WASN’T CORRECT AS IT WAS FOR 2. I WAS ALLOCATED TO AN ACCESSIBLE ROOM, WHICH WAS STRANGE AND I WENT BACK DOWN TO GET THIS CHANGED AND A NEW ROOM ALLOCATED. THE FIRST IMPRESSION WASN’T GREAT AND POTENTIAL RE-TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO ELIMINATE THESE ISSUES HAPPENING AGAIN

With being on holiday, I like have a lie in the morning, I was unhappy receive a note under the door, I was told that my room wouldn't be clean. I put the card on my door, so I wouldn't be disturbed to early. I didn't need my room to be cleaned everyday. I knew I could get complimentary tea/coffee from reception if I needed it.

Breakfast was excellent The room was big and there was an extra single bed when I booked, I only booked for a single king/queen sized. Unfortunately I had not agreed for anyone to share with me because I did not know this extra perk until I got there.
What I was disappointed about was that there was no tooth paste. I had forgotten mine, expecting there to be some in the room of a four star hotel Could something be done about the following though as it is off putting for travellers and not becoming of a four star, fairly expensive hotel -A part of the bath flooring had stains due to wear and tare, at first I thought it was dirt - -Behind the bath tapes were literally black stains, again wear & tare and would need some serious work to remove it.
