Very comfortable to stay there and will be the list next
The restaurant close early around 9 pm
Mooi gelegen groot hotel een beetje buiten de drukte van Gallway Mooie tuin, ruim parkeerterrein Goed ontbijt Rustiek en prettige sfeer
Eten in de bistro is matig
Spacious room and good location and undercover parking
With the steady stream of Tour Buses we felt the staff were totally overwhelmed and we as ordinary house guests were relegated to the Bistro instead of the Dining Room for our Dinner and menu was very ordinary for a 4 star establishment. Breakfast however was good and well presented. Chelsea was wonderfully helpful however Amy at Reception needs to work on her manner.
The staff were really lovely and friendly. the room was very comfortable and clean.its a very relaxing hotel on a lovely site.just upgrade the food standard
The food was absolutely terrible .we didn't eat in dining room as we didn't like the menu at all. The choice was very poor.the food in bistro was tasteless even the presentation was poor.we were so disappointed that we couldn't eat it . Oh the fire alarm went off very early on Saturday morning waking us with a fright and no communication from hotel as to why .I wonder what would have happened if there was a fire .I was preparing to exit room when alarm went off
Picked it for the pool and it was great. Sauna, check. Steam room, check. Great for a jet lagged arrival from US west coast.
It’s enormous. Consequently, the breakfast must suffer.
Beautiful old hotel. Rooms were nice and spacious. They had a nice onsite bar and restaurant.
Too far to walk to town centre.
The gardens were very nice and the location to downtown Galway was very good. We appreciated the on-site parking.
As soon as we opened the door we smelled mildew/mold and had to air out the room by opening windows. We knew the hotel and others in the areas were fully booked so did not bother asking for a different room. We later found that the bottom of the cloth shower curtain was deeply stained with mildew and felt that was at least part of the problem. There was also mold in the shower. If a hotel is going to charge the per night rate that the Ardilaun does, the room should be immaculate. Fabric shower curtains breed mildew and mold and it was surprising to find one at this hotel. Also, when we arrived with heavy baggage and departed no assistance was offered to us.
The property was so beautiful, and the restaurant options were great. Our room was comfortable and it was easy access to downtown.
The pool area was a little crowded with an older crowd so we didn't stay long.
Friendly , helpful staff. Cosy traditional feel. Lovely garden. Big bathroom.
Bed slightly too hard. Knocking on door last morning when we had ‘ Do not disturb’ on the door and it was only 11.40am. with checkout being at 12. 00.
We enjoyed our stay…. Hotels are v expensive when travelling with kids
Nice comfortable rooms and beds , friendly and obliging staff
Showers in leisure centre could have been cleaner . Coffee making facilities in room would have been nice
The pool and evening entertainment
Overcharged on booking.com
Staff was wonderful….food was good….nice that hotel has laundry service, though thought cost was a bit high. Location is good, but somewhat difficult getting in and out of driveway
Just trying to drive in and out of the driveway
It’s a nice driveway. Hotel looks old and not well maintained interiors are ok. Very old fashion.
Staff at breakfast was so unhelpful, food was not nice. There was no water bottles in the room
Beautiful, tranquil gardens, comfortable bed, lovely meals, close to bus stop to get into city centre, lovely staff.
My only complaint is that i left my treasured cap at breakfast and was never to be seen again 😅
Everything it was 1st class
Well done lads on the conference review A family hotel That knows how to protect families
The facilities in the hotel were excellent.
N/A
Staff food bar and foyer pool
Rooms need to be up dated TV way too small
Breakfast was excellent, staff very friendly, good location. Pool very cold, floors extremely slippery
Lovely setting and good facilities
Window in bathroom didn’t have a blind or opaque glass
They made me feel very secure during a difficult time. I was all alone in a city I knew nothing about and they made me feel very welcomed when my husband was hospitalized.
Stayed with my elderly parents and we all had a lovely time. staff were lovely and breakfast was great. location was great.
Attended a wedding. At this stage of my life I’ve been to plenty to comment given experiences elsewhere. The hotel is what it is, a little dated at this stage but seems to have been improved a little. There are positives – there’s lots of room, plenty of parking and if you’re able bodied and like a stroll it’s reasonable walking distance to Salthill and Galway’s west end. The wedding was outdoors in the garden, with a drinks reception and canapes afterwards. All quite pleasant. The room for the meal was well suited to the 60-odd people in attendance. Most of the staff were really friendly and accommodating. But as ever the devil is in the detail. For example, like in most food-serving establishments you can see fat accumulations in the beer glasses. This comes from staff putting anything that has contained dairy products in the glass washer. And it’s those little things that catch the eye because it’s the difference between doing it right and just being bang average. I can’t recall the starter, it might have been a Caesar Salad. The red pepper soup was genuinely good but the beef served was shockingly overcooked, and this from a production kitchen with combi ovens and temperature probes. Someone had made an effort to season and even salt the cut, but then someone else went and cooked it to 75c or more until it was grey and dry. And you sit there thinking well how hard is it to pull the thing at 63c, let it carryover to 65-68c and you have medium well cooked beef. If I can do it on my barbecue or in my oven with a cheap temperature probe then a production kitchen can too. Better still you could let it come up to room temp, sear it then slow roast it at 80c for hours, let it cook through really slowly and give people something to think about. But nah, just send it and destroy it. I couldn’t believe they did that to a cow let alone paying guests but it went on. The vegetables were so overcooked they should have just gone straight into making soup. The table had to twice ask for more. The meringue containing the Eton Mess served for dessert was completely melted. Champagne or sparking wine was poured for a toast what seemed like a good 40mins before the toast was made, and by that point was warm. Returning to the topic of beef, the mini burgers produced late in the evening were good for little else other than playing ice hockey with. They were so overdone they might as well have been deep fried. Perhaps they were. Who knows. Only for some sandwiches I would have went to bed hungry. I wonder do hotels realise that with the benefit of technology, time and travel people have become excellent home cooks and that this kind of careless cooking reflects a lot worse than it once did. I’m sorry to harp on about it but I can buy a rib roast in a supermarket, brine it overnight, salt it and barbecue it at sub 100c for a few hours with a temp probe or on a rotisserie to produce a extremely good result. It’s hard to believe that what was put in front of us – twice - was from the same kind of animal and this from a production kitchen with supposedly experienced staff. I ate elsewhere the next morning because the feedback from other guests on the breakfast mirrored that of the dinner. We met for a garden barbecue which was again somewhat pleasant but a long distance from what you’d put in front of your own guests at your own house. And then were somewhat abruptly ushered out of the space an hour early for reasons unknown. That’s between the couple and the hotel, but set the tone for later that night when during the World Cup game we were moved, and moved, and moved again in the hotel bar as staff tried to close off areas while the pub was still busy and then at last were abruptly and rudely relocated to the lobby. Again, all things must end, things have to close and be reset for the next day but I’ve been to plenty of places where paying guests were treated a lot better, particularly when family members had paid a five figure sum to the place and others spent the price of a decent television or city break abroad for a few nights accommodation. There are some glorious hotels and wedding venues in this country. Virginia Park Lodge. Castle Dargan. Ballybeg House. Hotel Doolin. Kinnitty Castle. Kilronan Castle. Langtons. Markree Castle. The best of them focus on guest experience throughout, get the food experience right and nail the details. The Ardilaun House Hotel, Taylors Hill Galway is not one of them.
Everything
Goof food ,good pool
Swimming pool and jacuzzi. Gardens. V peaceful location. Rooms v clean and comfortable.
Would have like more vegetables with dinner.
Overall everything was really great, would highly recommend.
Check in wasn't until 4pm which is late in the day for check in
Staff were exceptional
A noisy wake up call of an anti bird alarm.
We loved our stay at The Ardilaun and the fact that we could bring our dog made it even better. We stayed in the pet friendly garden rooms, which are really spacious for 2 adults and 2 teens. Although next time I think I’d bring my own pillow. We ate and drank in the lobby area because of our pet but we never felt forgotten about. The service was really good and all the staff were very nice. We would definitely stay here again.
Beautiful hotel fantastic breakfast great variety only thing missing in room is a mini fridge if your a tea drinker it's Lyons I'm a tea snob i perfere Barry's staff are very helpful highly reccomend hotel very tranquil and peaceful.
The staff were exceptionally helpful and full of personality. They seem very well trained!
Decor a little outdated. 215e for room only was about 40e more than I would like to pay for this standard of hotel
This hotel needs serious improvements. Here’s what I think: 1. The carpet is old and musty; 2. The bathroom towel heater was not working; 3. The sink had a stinky smell of sewage; 4. The shower head and rod were rusty; 5. The pillows were old and overworked. 6. There’s only one elevator; 7. To go around the hotel is like a maze. I still got lost, even with the signs
A lovely comfortable Hotel in beautiful surroundings with plenty of parking and a short drive to Galway city centre and Salthill. Well trained staff who are friendly and welcoming. Good dining facilities and fresh local produce.
The location is not the best. But the hotel offers all the activities. Breakfast is very tasty, friendly staff in the restaurant.
Nothing
Nothing in particular
Feel tired and dated. Needs renovation.
The character, the staff, the atmosphere and rooms were great
The room was a little warm
The swimming pool and the jacuzzi was really good. The property was very central to Salthill & Galway city. We could walk to both places safely. The music was lovely on the Saturday nite .
The bedrooms were really small. The windows were covered in birds poo and wasn’t cleaned throughout our stay.
Great staff and good facilities
Some of the room and decor could do with a refresh
Coziness and comfort and friendliness of staff
Food was disappointing in the Brasserie - it was just ok
Lovely building and lovely location
Great function venue. Friendly staff, clean rooms. Great atmosphere. If you have mobility issues request a room close to reception as some rooms can be a distance away.
Stayed here before a few years ago, for a wedding. Main areas are nice
Bedrooms looking a bit tired now, could do with an update.
Location
The strong smell and the outdated decor
Le confort de la chambre Le calme du lieu Le petit déjeuner
L' accueil froid du réceptionniste
Staff were exceptional, they were friendly, knowledgeable and polite. They couldn't have done more to make the stay enjoyable. Location was also excellent
There is an anti bird call going from early morning to late at night, this was distressing to say the least, my two children are neurodivergent which alot of distress as they thought it was a bird in pain. It also woke us up quite early as it is very loud. The hotel may need to rethink this and inform guests so guests can make an informed decision as to whether they want to continue their stay or have a choice of rooms away from this incessant distressing noise. Just on a side, the pool is much smaller than expected and it had lane swimming which doesn't always suit families with children, this also should be communicated upon arrival or beforehand again to make an informed decision.
Pablo is the best night porter. He served amazing coffee and that saved more than one life that night.
I recently stayed at The Ardilaun Hotel for Rob and Emily’s wedding, and the experience was exceptional from start to finish. The venue itself was spotless. Everything was immaculately clean and clearly very well maintained, which immediately set a great tone for the stay. The staff throughout the hotel were consistently friendly, professional, and attentive, creating a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for what was a very special occasion for my dear friends. I want to give particular recognition to the night porter, Pablo, who was absolutely stellar. His level of professionalism and dedication stood out in a way I have genuinely never experienced before in a hotel. He went above and beyond at every opportunity, not only ensuring guests were looked after but also maintaining a remarkable level of attentiveness while carrying out his nightly duties. What was especially impressive was how he balanced everything so seamlessly. He was supporting guests, maintaining the hotel environment, and doing so with a calm, positive presence. Pablo’s attention to detail and commitment to ensuring everyone’s comfort and satisfaction did not go unnoticed. It’s rare to encounter someone like this, and he is a true asset to the hotel. He deserves special praise and in my opinion, recognition or a bonus for the outstanding service he provided. Overall, a fantastic stay for a beautiful wedding. I would highly recommend The Ardilaun Hotel ad a wedding venue and will absolutely return in the future.
Absolutely everything thing, leisure was beautiful & clean, after a long day and stayed open until 10 pm.
Lovely location just outside Galway & very near the coast. The stay was booked during a 70th birthday celebration, we were amazed to have been given a large comfortable family room with a surprise box of chocolates & a card. Breakfast was included which was a bonus, unfortunately we weren’t able to eat in the restaurant due to a function that night.
Close to where I wanted
It needs a good upgrade general
Lovely lobby, lovely room. Staff friendly
Service in bar for food.
Staff really good, it’s a big hotel and has all the facilities I would expect
It’s old but it has character, and expect traditional not modern. That said we enjoyed our stay. It’s a good 20 mins + walk into Galway
Are visit to Ireland was during an unusually warm summer. What a treat it was to stay in a room with a/c! The rooms were very clean and spacious as well as the bathroom. Bed was comfy. The breakfast buffet was included in our stay. They were many choices including made to order eggs, omelets and pancakes.
This was a beautiful hotel! The grounds and gardens were absolutely magical, and the entire property had such a peaceful, charming atmosphere. We were able to walk into downtown Galway, although after a few drinks and some shopping, we happily took an Uber back! 😂 The staff was professional and welcoming, our room was spotless, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and such a relaxing way to start the day. I truly enjoyed my stay and would happily return. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
Breakfast was excellent. Staff is polite. Nature js beautiful . Matrass was quality, double bed was real king-size.
There was a strange smell, I think of cleaning products. After a few hours of opening the window, the air in the room became fresh.
Parkeren
Stoffig ouderwets muffig Vreselijk luidruchtige en volle ontbijtzaal
Excellent leisure center
Room was too warm at night
We stayed in a dog friendly room with our two Shih Tzus. We were made feel welcome straight away, we had a meal in the lobby with the dogs because we arrived before check in time, but the minute the room was ready they let us know and we were escorted to the room. Every staff member we meet was lovely and gave the dogs attention. The room was spotless and there were bowls and treats for both of them. The room opened up onto a lovely patio and garden. We walked to Salthill it only took 20 minutes. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful. At breakfast we sat in the lobby and again the staff were so helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay again.
The breakfast was good but cud do with more toasting ports .the location anf facilities were good for me staff were good and friendly a
Grande chambre tres calme , bon petit dej , environnement agréable , personnel souriant
La distance du centre La taille de l’établissement ( très grand ) La deco un peu désuette
Staff very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The Manager was lovely he even thanked us on the Friday night for getting all the crowd dancing with us. Live music every night was excellent great bands. We felt special on Ladies Day as you laid on a wonderful drink and food reception with live music for 3 hours to get us in the party mood before going to the Galway Races. We also knew we could have a late night drink at reception the night porter was great. We will definitely coming back as we had an amazing stay there.
No fridge in our room
As has been the case for the past ten years that we have stayed here when visiting our daughter in Galway, everything at the Ardilaun was beyond outstanding-- accommodations, service, dining, amenities, etc. During the Galway Races Week, we were treated to some fantastic Irish traditional music and ballads by harpist Úna Flanagan and the duo, "Its Time." We have been listening to this type of music for the past 60 years and have never heard better than the two-hour noontime concert Úna gave. If you come to Galway, this is the place to stay!!
It's a lovely hotel with beautiful gardens. Ample free parking. The breakfast was over the top! Newspaper at front desk. Comfortable bed. Doorman gave us information about the area. Staff professional and helpful. Here are some issues we encountered: In room safe did not work. (Possibly the batteries 🔋 need replacing.) Bathroom door didn't lock. Bathroom needs better venting. Room had too much carpet freshener. Asked for extra coffee and never got. Late machine disowned warm brew. Couldn't check in until 4:30 pm. Told we would get a phone call when room was ready which never came through. Had to go several times to the desk to tell them we wanted breakfast. Not sure why it wasn't noted when we went to the host to get seated.
The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Freja at reception looked after us extremely well. She did everything she could to make our stay very enjoyable. The atmosphere in the hotel was very relaxed and warm. We had a lovely suite which was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Delicious treats awaited us in our room. Breakfast was scrumptious. We will definitely return.
Friendly staff Great Breakfast and bus to the races provided ftom the hotel....
Lively hotel but a bit old fashioned which you will either like or hate!!!
Lovely location, attractive furnishings, friendly staff.
More milk and biscuits plus decaf tea would be good.
The staff were friendly
The rooms are old and not up to date. There was a chocolate bar wrapper left on the ground from the previous guests.
A lovely hotel full of charm . The staff were excellent !! Very friendly atmosphere with really good food and tasty Guinness .
Breakfast is wonderful with a large variety of options some cooked to order. We loved the special events for Race week especially the harp player and prosecco.
