Location and the rooms

This hotel is in a great position, just a 10 minute walk to the Royal Mile.

The food was really good but the evening menu was very limited, we had to eat out on our last night even though we didn't really want to because we had run out of choices.

The staff are courteous, friendly and very helpful.

The property was near #12 Hop On Hop Off stop, so it was easy to get an overview of the city. Very close to Hollyrood Castle/Kings Gallery. If you like walking, it is at the bottom of the Royal Mile, so easy to explore the whole Royal Mile - from bottom to top. The room was spacious. Staff friendly. Breakfast was A+. Loved the afternoon peach tea in the lobby as you return to the hotel. While we didn’t use it, the gym was great for keeping in shape - spacious and well equipped. The clerk at the front desk saved us, when our Uber was severely delayed, getting us to the airport on time.

A minor ding is that the hotel restaurant menu is a little limited but the food is very good. Just gives you good reason to go out and explore. If you’re not a walker (or cannot do hills), keep in mind that everything is uphill from there, at the very bottom of The Royal Mile.

Pillows too tough. Pool area changing rooms need updating. Could not log into wifi without a membership.

Outstanding fitness facility - a full gym. By far the best of any hotel I have stayed in of this size. Pool and sauna as well. Breakfast was satisfactory. Location a block from lower end of the Royal Mile suitable for walking that stretch to the Castle.

I clearly booked a room for 3 adults, thinking I had secured a queen or double bed and two twin beds. Instead, we got a very spacious suit but did not get three coffee cups, three waters, etc. Also, the pot to boil water was disgusting and we had to request it be cleaned out. Something is wrong with your hospitality staff not getting proper instructions on how to supply a room and clean out pots.

The hotel has a great location near to Holyrood Palace but away from the busy, crowded streets. The room was very comfortable, well furnished, cool with a quiet aircon system, and quiet to sleep. Breakfast was very enjoyable with no extra costs for a la carte items. The staff were really good both at reception and at breakfast. Only had time for a quick gym session but the gym was well equipped and above average for a hotel gym.

Nothing to dislike about the hotel. Like all hotels during the Edinburgh Fringe, the cost of the room was quite high.

Kamer is ietwat saai ingericht, verder geen minpunten. Prijs is wat aan de hoge kant, maar is wellicht ook te wijten aan het fringe festival wat in augustus plaatsvindt

I’m staying here now. The WiFi sucks. I just got whacked at the bar for a double because Achmed didn’t like Aimish gettting a £5 tip. The M Club is good,, needs some updating. Fire the fuzzy little gopher.

Parking situation was unclear when arrived. You have to get a code from reception, but simple after that.

Excellent location within walking distance of most of Edinburgh’s main attractions. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable, and the breakfast buffet offered a great variety, with additional cooked options included at no extra charge. The evening menu was quite limited, and the lobby felt small and crowded during check-in and check-out with guests’ luggage. My opinion is that is overpriced compared to similar hotels of equivalent standard in other cities.

Location, very helpful attentive staff

Room was dull - furnished adequately. With comfortable duvet and good towels. An excellent powerful shower. The room did not have a warmth or colour.

Close to Arthur’s seat walk and the royal mile, great breakfast and useful staff. Easy car parking.

Making tea was not easy

A little quieter than the Apex, Waterloo, it's located a stone's throw away from the Planetarium with plenty of good eateries closeby. Station is about a 15 min walk. Rooms were spacious and breakfast was good. Pool is also a little larger and closes at 9:45pm during the week. Housekeeping wasn't great and we discovered a bag with a mini camera under our bed after checking in which we turned in once we checked out. I stated this in the follow up guest email experience sent to me and Dylan, whom I would assume is in guest services, sends me the following response. The item was discovered under the bed a couple of days after we checked in. We were there for 4 days and had early morning tours each day. "With regard to the belongings found in your room, we appreciate you mentioning this at check-out. However, we would encourage you to report any concerns of this nature to our Front Office team immediately during your stay. This allows us to investigate the matter straight away, resolve the issue promptly, and, where appropriate, offer an alternative room if required." Not sure if he expected me immediately run down to the front desk screaming from the top of my lungs and what they would have done beyond offering an apology, which was done at checkout. I do find the email slightly berating. I do hope the item is reunited with its owner.

Las almohadas que son muy altas pero eso es gusto personal. La pileta climatizada con agua fría me sorprendió, bajamos un paso en la escalera y nos volvimos para atrás, fuimos a buscar relax después de un día intenso y estaba lleno de gente gritando y el agua fría.

Le personnel est très sympathique. Alan du petit déjeuner est adorable. Les équipements sont parfaits et les chambres spacieuses et très agréables.

Lokalizacja super. pokój duży z kanapą i fotelem, więc można przysiąść w pokoju po zwiedzaniu i nie trzeba iść do baru lub restauracji. Rano chodziliśmy na basen (całkiem duży) i saunę, co świetnie przygotowuje do kolejnego dnia zwiedzania Edynburga. Obsługa bardzo serdeczna i uśmiechnięta.

Hotel jest trochę stary i to widać we wnętrzach. Jedzenie ogólnie było ok, ale ostatniego dnia wieczorem po zamówieniu przystawek w barze trochę się pochorowaliśmy.

Die Putzfrauen hatten unsere Pyjamas einfach aufs Bett geworfen- war nicht so freundlich. Aber sonst war das Personal sehr bemüht- sowohl beim Frühstück als auch bei der Rezeption.

I liked the room size, the breakfast and the location. Also, the restaurant staff is very kind and friendly.

I didn't like that the room was a wheelchair accessible room, as the bathroom was very different from what I booked. Also, I've asked for a quiet room, and got a room connected to another with a wall door (so we could hear everything on the other side... Not very quiet). I also didn't like that they pretended to give me an upgrade in a better room: the room was a double, but actually less comfortable vs what I booked

My experience rescheduling a nearly out of date voucher after a long illness, for two spa treatments, at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel Holyrood could not have been more reassuringly helpful and encouraging in my phone conversations. On two separate occasions staff were considerate, friendly and proactive on my behalf. On the day itself, the FOH staff were genuinely interested and had a positive energy about them. My therapist, Casey, was excellent. Patient, sensitive and attentive. And with a gentle spirit that belied the welcome strength and technique in application of her massage. I had a lovely skin tingling Elemis facial, alongside Casey's considered advice, and a back, neck and scalp massage that awakened and soothed my body in equal measure. Both sessions were 25mins each but ample in their quality. Also included was use of spa facilities including the relaxation room (exploited for my own personal yoga nidra) and the swimming pool for a few measured laps. The entire experience was a very positive reset for me, elevated by the friendliness and kindness of the team of staff who assisted my booking. Thank you 🤗

The location was perfect. Walking distance to everything we wanted to see in Edinburgh. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was also very good.

Our sofa bed wasn't set up for our arrival. The room was slightly dirty. The swimming pool area didn't look like the photos. The restaurant was dead on the Saturday night so we left to go somewhere else

The location is about a 30 minute walk from central Edinburgh. OK but not up to Marriott standard. Has aged a bit.

Fantastic stay at Marriott Edinburgh Holyrood. The staff is incredibly friendly, and the rooms are clean and spacious. We arrived before we were able to check in and they stored our luggage for us until the room was ready. A short walk from the main high street and in a pretty quiet location. I will absolutely stay here again and recommend to others!!

no complaints at all. A particular word of credit for the front of house staff, they were charming, helpful and utterly positive. A particular thanks and recognition to the ladies who staffed this area. Brilliant and thank you!

it is completely faceless, zero hospitality, overpriced for no reason, breakfast quelity below fast food, poor bar, very cheap spa area, pool smells ubearable, spa is not just for customers - and it’s busy with children lessons, sad experience at large…

Nothing I didn’t like but a couple of things with room 111 where we stayed. There is no hook on the back of the bathroom door so nowhere to hang damp towels. Could do with a mirror closer to the plug sockets as it was hard drying hair as the plugs were too far away.

Location was great. The pool was nice. The room was clean and comfortable to stay in. Staff was really helpful and nice.

The area was quieter, but still close enough to walk to most of the city's attractions. We appreciated the small fridge and good a/c.

The walls and carpet showed signs of age; dents, scratches, missing paint, some stains. The a la carte breakfast was not great. I got a waffle from a package for 15 pounds.

Location is handy for Holyrood Palace, Parliament and Dynamic Earth, a bit of a walk to and from centre.

We stayed here for 2 nights as a family of 4 in two rooms. This hotel is in a great location a few mins from the Kings Mile, good parking facility and spacious rooms. Staff are friendly and courteous and helped with several of our asks. It however felt a bit short staffed and was unable to cater to some basics. The lounge was poorly kept and did not have any staff to take orders. Even though we notified a week in advance of our arrival, we did not get rooms to check in until 5pm(we arrived at 8 am). We had to present options ourselves to problem solve instead of proactive trouble shooting.

Camera molto pulita, silenziosa, in ottima posizione per visitare tutti i punti di interesse. Ottimo il parcheggio privato (costo 25£/giorno). Ottimo lo staff.

Fabulous location within 2 minutes of Holyrood Park and Palace. Very well managed hotel. Great breakfast with fresh fruit salad, fresh pineapple, and lots of other choices. There is a hot buffet and you can also order. Orders are taken, and food arrives, quickly. No queues at coffee machines. Good sized swimming pool. Large, comfortable room. Excellent service throughout. And one of few hotels that takes need to recycle seriously. A very relaxing stay.

Light leaks over top and round sides of curtains. Pelmet was poorly designed.

Gut ausgestattete Zimmer und ein leckeres Frühstücksbuffet. Der Spa-Bereich ist groß und hat lange Öffnungszeiten. Großer Pool. Ausstattung der Zimmer ist wirklich gut und alles sauber. Lage nicht ganz optimal, weil recht lange Wege ins Zentrum und keine gute Anbindung mit den Öffis.

Wegen eines Ausflugs haben wir an einem Tag ein Lunch Paket bekommen. Das war wirklich echt schlecht und dürftig und mit unserer Kritik wurde nicht nett und nicht großzügig umgegangen. Für ein Hotel dieser Klasse nicht angemessen.
