Excellent location and a spacious room.

There are a lot of stairs and, unfortunately, no elevator. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable. The room categories can also be misleading. There are two types of rooms: an interior room and an interior room with a window. The distinction between the two should be much clearer to guests when booking. The services are also very limited. For example, we requested an extra box of tissues, but the staff member seemed surprised by the request! I believe basic amenities such as tissues should be readily available upon request.

Super Lage, das Hotel zwar etwas in die Jahre gekommen, aber alles sauber.

Le petit déjeuner n’avait pas d’option végétale, il peut être améliorer pour les allergiques aux produits laitiers ou intolérant au gluten. Si je devais revenir dans votre établissement, je choisirais une chambre avec vue car la nôtre était borgne, il y avait beaucoup de condensation. Elle était donc très humide.

It’s location

Stairs, lots of stairs. For people with limited mobility or completely handicapped, it would be exceptionally difficult to manage. Also, they refused to accept my green Amex card although they would accept a gold or titanium Amex. They were exceptionally rude about it and even when I put Amex on phone to explain there really wasn’t any difference to the property as far as me using my green card they still refused to accept it.

hotel is wel wat gedateerd en duur, ramen buiten van de kamer niet gewassen.

The room was absolutely stunning, very comfortable indeed. View of Edinburgh Castle, friendly and helpful staff, excellent dinners and breakfast... Had my first taste of Haggis here, and it did not disappoint! Location was perfect: close to Waverley station, so very convenient with the LNER, and nice and central to Edinburgh Castle, Holyroodhouse, and everything in between. All in all, this was a haven, exactly where we needed it to be, in a style that we adored. Very romantic indeed, would come back!

There were some roadworks going on for two nights, but that was NOT the hotel's fault.

L'emplacement de l'hôtel est idéal pour visiter , le personnel très professionnel et chaleureux . Les femmes de ménage sont très polies et font très bien leur travail de nettoyage . La petite attention des produits pour se laver .

Les petits déjeuners sont trop chers pour ce qui est proposé , la chambre était un peu petite et la vue sur le passage des pigeons est très laide . Par contre , notre chambre était à côté d'un ascenseur , donc du bruit ...les femmes de ménage déposent leur sac poubelle et leur chariot devant notre chambre . En résumé, beaucoup de bruit le matin avec les autres clients qui claquent les portes . Impossible de dormir à partir de 7h

Die erst Nacht war sehr laut (lang andauernder Maschinenlärm), sodass ich fast die ganze Nacht nicht schlafen konnte.

There was a lot of street noise all night and we were on the top floor. It was hot up there so the window needed to be open. Earplugs helped the second night

Our room had porthole windows. It was very hot and very noisy. There was only one unused electrical outlet and it was on the floor by the door. Not convenient at all. Bar person could only make the drinks on the menu. I ordered a cosmo and I don’t think there was any vodka in it. We ordered shrimp scampi in the restaurant and got shrimp nuggets. There was no scampi

La almohada para mi es un poco alta pero es un detalle

Milý a velmi ochotný personál, super poloha hotelu. Vybavení pokoje hezké a pokoj cisty. Postele byly velmi prijemne a pohodlne.

Pokoj mel jen jedno okno do svetliku, ktere navic neslo otevrit, takze to pusobilo velmi depresivne a v pokoji tak nebylo denni svetlo v podstate vubec nikdy. A podlaha v pokoji byla křivá tak, ze kufr postavený v jednom rohu sam odlel ke dverim pokoje. Ze je podlaha “do kopce” bylo patrné na prvni pohled pouhym okem.

La ubicación es excelente. La habitación cumplía nuestras expectativas, baño bien, colchones bien. Buen trato por parte del personal. Habitación exterior, limpieza todo correcto.

No me gusta tener que iniciar sesión para conectar el wifi. El ascensor no llega a la calle, hay que subir un piso de escaleras. Falta un poquito de presión en la ducha.

The lift was out of order from my arrival on Sunday and still when I left on Wednesday. My room was on the fourth floor and at age 80 with some mobility issues, it was hard work. No possibility for change of room. Only compensation was a 20% food voucher, which I used because I was too tired to go out again.

The Lift broke down twice!!! After a serious discussion, as we were on the top floor, we were begrudgingly given a small discount, which we gladly accepted.

The elevator/lift was broke most of the time I was there. I was on the 6th floor and had to walk up 6 flights of stairs when the elevator was not in use. I chose this hotel because they advertised an elevator/lift. It made it very hard to appreciate the hotel due to the issues wth the elevator/lift not working.

Convenient, they did everything to help me I asked for early check in my room was ready. Lovely room very clean. Tea and coffee facilities in the room..lots of mirrors. Staff really friendly bag storage.

I didn't know how to work the TV but I didn't really have time to watch it anyway.

Je m'attendais à une meilleure chambre pour un prix de 1400 euros les 4 nuits (en plein mois d'août); Toutefois, il faut reconnaitre que l'emplacement est IDEAL. Nous avons tout fait à pieds, c'était vraiment proche de tout, donc très appréciable. Il y a de quoi se restaurer autour, le bus et tram de l'aéroport qui arrivent juste devant, et globalement tous les lieux et rues à visiter sur Edimbourg à proximité. Le personnel était sympathique, le petit-déjeuner bien (le même tous les jours), c'était propre et le lit était très confortable. Mais pour le prix, effectivement je m'attendais à un peu plus grand, autant pour la chambre que pour le lit (qui est un 140). Aussi, j'ai trouvé que c'était assez bruyant par rapport à l'extérieur, car on entendait beaucoup les gens qui criaient dans la rue ou les sirènes de véhicules Mais... oui, Edimbourg est une ville chère, il faut alors comparer. C'était dans les prix les plus bas quand nous avons réservé, et encore une fois, c'était très bien pour 4 jours et surtout très bien placé. A noter qu'il n'y a pas de clim dans les chambres donc si vous veniez en canicule, ça peut être compliqué.... mais, rassurez-vous, en plein mois d'août nous n'avons pas dépassé les 17° Haha !

Je trouvais le prix élevé par rapport à ce qu'était la chambre, et un petit lit, mais je pense que c'est le coût de la vie à Edimbourg. L'emplacement était idéal

The location was perfect! We were at several Fringe shows. Access to restaurants was excellent. Good bar. Friendly and helpful staff . We have stayed here a few times.

Could have done with another lift but I appreciate space was not available. It's a well established hotel and very comfortable.

The hotel’s charm lies mainly in its historic appearance and character, and its location close to so many attractions. We had dinner one night at the restaurant and it was excellent. The breakfast was of consistently good quality. Housekeeping was excellent. The bathroom was very good; no issues with hot water, shower pressure, etc. The staff were all kind and helpful except for one.

No air conditioning. We had only a fan and, some nights, it was uncomfortably warm. I don’t believe that the listing description mentioned that there was no air conditioning. Bath amenities were minimal. There was no closet as shown in the listing photos, just a rack with hangars. That seemed rather second rate. Late into the night there were noises of traffic and revelers, and loud construction noises next door and trash trucks could be heard as early as 6:00 am. The first night we asked the Front Desk person for some late night dining recommendations, but she simply referred us to Google. One would think the hotel would maintain a list of nearby establishments for such a case and have some knowledge of them.

Die Lage des Hotels war super gelegen für alle unsere Aktivitäten. Sehr gute Busverbindungen. Super gelegen um zu Fuss das Schloss oder die Altstadt zu erreichen. Bushaltestellen direkt vor der Haustüre

Für den Preis, den wir bezahlt haben, war das Frühstück sehr mässig. Sehr grob geschnittener Schinken, Rühreier, meistens fast fertig, zwei Brotsorten, fast kein Kleingebäck, nur eine Marmelade zur Auswahl. Wenig Käse. Kaffee war gut.

Close to Old Town and easily accessible public transport

Mainly the location and the bar area. Also the view from the bedrooms facing Princes Street.

The mattress of one of the beds was very bowed. The quilts felt lumpy and too hot for summer. I realise it is an old building, but they could increase the breakfast choices by having more fresh fruit, some cold meats as there are many continental guests. Honey on offer maybe and offer margarine and breakfast rolls. I don’t understand the use of cheap toilet paper as guests just use much more of it. Nicer toilet paper would have been good.

Es handelt sich um ein klassisches britisches Hotel in bester Lage, jedoch schon etwas im "nostalgischen älteren " Stil gehalten. Wir hatten leider ein sehr finsters Zimmer mit einem verschlossenen Fenster im Lichtschacht. Dafür hörte man keinen Lärm von der Straße. Das Bett war sehr bequem und das Zimmer sauber. Frühstück war "wirklich nur" britisch und wenig abwechlungsreich. Geld für Frühstück sollte man sich vielleicht sparen und in eines der vielen nahen Lokale separat einnehmen. Da bieten die internationeln Hotels in der Nähe um den gleichen Preis mehr Auswahl. Für die Dauer unseres Aufenthaltes war das Hotel aber durchaus in Ordnung, da man alles zu Fuß erreichen kann.

Frühstück könnte etwas mehr Auswahl, zB. aufgeschnittenes Obst oder gesündere Wurstauswahl. Zimmer hinten sind sehr finster, kein Tageslicht, und musste immer das Licht eingeschaltet werden

The lift was broken the first two days. Had to walk up several flights of stairs. Mechanism on the fire door in the hallway needed replacing. Slammed every time someone went through it.

Called for a porter to assist with luggage, as there is a set of stairs initially. Gentleman that came down barely acknowledged me, carried my suitcase upstairs then went of chatting with other guests. Husband is in his 70’s & had to lug his own case upstairs. We were there during the heatwave, could not open any windows and the fan they provided was totally useless. Room was a sauna!!!

Le bruit : chambre au premier étage sur rue très bruyante avec des magasins au-dessous qui mettent la même musique en boucle de 30 secondes pendant des heures et des heures. Aucun double vitrage. Le petit-déjeuner avec les mini viennoiseries très sèches de la veille, remises au chaud pour les améliorer mais sans succès et le peu d’offre de petit-déjeuner continental.

I liked the location really much. The hotel was nice and clean. The staff was nice and kind.

The thing that pulls down my opinion is that the lift was broken throughout our stay. Being quite fit it was still tough to climb 4 cases of stairs. I felt bad for the woman with troubles walking that was climbing the stairs up to the sixth floor. If the lift had been working I would have given the hotel a five star review.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The location is perfect. It was clean and cosy. The staff were accommodating in transferring me to a lower floor as the lift was broken.

They didn’t have decaf coffee in the rooms. The lift was broken and being disabled was exceptionally difficult to get up and down to the room despite being transferred to a lower level room. I was a bit niggled by the house keeping lady, who on my last day, knocked and immediately entered without waiting for a reply. I was getting dressed at the time and it was an unnecessarily embarrassing encounter for the both of us as I was checking out that morning and she shouldn’t have even been there until I had left.

Ama ben genel fotoğraflardan bahsetmiyorum, seçtiğim oda tipi sekmesinde görünen fotoğraftan bahsediyorum. Onun da bir garantisi yok dediler. Odada valizleri bile açacak yer yoktu. Odada içme suyu bile yoktu. Asansör bozuktu, kaldığımız 3 gün boyunca yapılmadı. Odamız 6. kattaydı, odaya çıkmak işkenceye dönüştü. Konumu iyi ancak asla tavsiye etmiyorum.

Ascensore rotto e stanza al quinto piano! Poi il manager ha gentilmente rimediato spostandoci al primo piano dal secondo giorno.

El ascensor no ha funcionado en toda la semana, subir los escalones se termina haciendo muy pesado. Se escucha todo, y todo es todo, desde las seis de la mañana es complicado dormir, por lo menos en nuestra habitación. Hay unas puertas "cortafuego" en los pasillos y el golpe es constante. La ducha de la habitación de arriba sonaba muchísimo en la nuestra...descansar es muy difícil

The hotel is centrally located with nice access to the train station, restaurants, shopping places and city in general. The staff is very kind and hospitable. I had a very comfortable stay in Old Waverly Hotel. Highly recommended!.

Bardzo ładny i czysty hotel. Cudowny widok z okna i przemiła obsługa. Hotel znajduje się w samym centrum miasta, wszędzie jest blisko na piechotę, a autobusy na lotnisko odjeżdżają z przystanku ok. 100m od hotelu. Możliwość zostawienia bagażu przed zameldowaniem i po wymeldowaniu. Bardzo polecam opcję ze śniadaniem, zjedliśmy pyszne posiłki przed wyruszeniem na miasto. Szczerze polecam!

Fawlty Towers hotel hvor ingenting virkede

Extremely unhappy stay, we even feared for our safety as on our 2nd night there, a staff member suddenly opened the door and came inside while we were sleeping in the night, without even knocking on the door and despite the DND sign on the door. His excuse was that "someone" had asked to drop a parcel to our room number. This caused us a great deal of distress. The next day we walked in after breakfast and sightseeing to find our room open and being cleaned, even though we had put the DND on, which was still hanging on the door even then. Overall, very bad stay for us, despite the best possible location in town for convenience.

Very run down and no lift they tell you it’s out of order and will be repaired soon but staff tell you it’s been broken down for a while and no sign of repair Avoid Avoid Avoid

Opis pokoju niezgodny z rzeczywistoscia. Z opisu wynika ze pokoj jest umieszczony na tylach budynku ale nie ma informacji ze jest absolutny brak dostepu do swiatla dziennego, szyby w oknach matowe "lazienkowe" nie przepuszczajace swiatla, chyba nigdy nie myte z zewnątrz. Brak mozliwosci uchylenia okna wiecej niz kilka cm. Brak nawet mozliwosci zobaczenia jaka pogoda na zewnatrz bez wychodzenia z budynku. Zalana lazienka, woda lejaca sie z sufitu najpierw z jednego ze swiatel a pozniej ze wszystkich swiatel w lazience. Opozniona i lekcewaząca reakcja personelu hotelu, ponad godzina czekania na zamiane pokoju. Na 3dni pobytu 2dni winda byla nieczynna.

Was told room is renovated but didn’t feel like it. Bathroom facility is subpar. Breakfast is mediocre Coffee in dining room is too weak Too many stairs, not wheelchair accessible. No lobby access for drop off and pick up Overall the property feels stale. Needs an upgrade.

Rooms were very small , elevator out of order so for a 75 year old waiting for a knee replacement with a heart problem this was a problem and could have been disclosed as we booked the same day we arrived Expensive for that we got

To anyone coming - please know that their elevators are out with no answers as to when they will be fixed Also know there are no safes no irons and in some rooms no wardrobes Their response not even concerned

Can’t find a better location or more helpful staff! Rooms were comfortable, quiet, and comfy, if a little worse for wear.

Clean, location.

There is no elevator at the entrance, so traveling with large suitcases is not convenient going up to reception; the elevator is on the 1st floor.
