Holiday Inn Express & Suites Asheville SW - Outlet Ctr Area by IHG

My mother and I stayed at this hotel on August 15, and unfortunately, our experience was extremely concerning. I went to take a shower first and immediately noticed that the tub/shower floor was extremely slippery. There were no adequate non-slip/gripping surfaces and no grab handles to help prevent someone from falling. When my mother stepped into the shower, she immediately slipped, did the splits, and fell face-first. We had to call an ambulance to have her evaluated. As a result of the fall, she broke her tooth, and the broken tooth went through her lip, requiring additional medical treatment. What made this situation even more upsetting was how the hotel handled it afterward. I asked to file an accident/incident report and was told that they only do those reports for employees. I have since contacted both corporate and the General Manager of this particular Holiday Inn, and I have received no response whatsoever. They have not even acknowledged that this accident occurred. Accidents can happen, but how a business responds afterward says a lot. We have been completely ignored and have had to deal with the medical consequences of this incident without even receiving basic acknowledgment from the hotel. Please be very careful if you stay here. If you are injured on this property, based on our experience, do not expect the hotel to take the situation seriously or even respond to you.

We had 2 tv's in our room, but only 1 remote to control both...very difficult as if you tried to change something on one tv it would change something on the other tv as well

We had to take a shower in another room in the morning and were told that you were the ones who would have to give us a discount because of the inconvenience of the shower not working

Our mattress was not comfortable at all. I thought it was just my opinion but my husband can fall asleep anywhere complained about the mattress also. Not hard, not soft just bleh!

The property was close to shopping facilities and restaurants. It was just a short 15-20 drive to downtown Asheville.

The property could use some refurbishment in areas. The ice machine was broken on our floor, so my husband had to go down a floor to get ice.

They needed to vacuum the hallway carpet as with the rain mud was carried in.

Our stay was only 1 night but it was a really nice hotel. Staff was great and hotel was in a really nice area.

Our room smelled like smoke, they moved us to another room, just aggravating. The people before had stuffed bathroom vents full of tissue to keep cigarette smoke smell hid, rough experience.

I was very happy with the comfort of the room and the bed the food was examen. The women that helped us when my grand child got sick was so wonderful and helpful and made my grandchild feel happy and comfortable I was very happy we choose this hotel.

I love Holiday Inn express. It’s my go to for generally every vacation! This particular Holiday Inn express was exceptionally clean, neat, well-maintained, and everyone I encountered there were friendly, and working like bees in a hive! Kudos to the management and staff!

I didn’t eat breakfast there we already made plans to eat somewhere else. It was very clean and it felt safe to be there.

I feel it needs some updating. The shower was slippery. I used a towel in the bottom so I wouldn’t slip.

Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was very good.

I was told by the front desk clerk that she would refund the 2nd night because I have asthma and became very sick and had to come home to go to my doctor. Ended up having bronchitis. I have not received anything on a refund.

The toilet didn’t flush properly, the hotel was generally dirty and run down. The hotel room itself was very filthy. The cleaning staff didn’t wait for a woman and her baby to get on the elevator and cut her in line to get their cart on the elevator first. Just rude.

Everything was good. We had to exchange some dirty towels that was in our room. And the breakfast was not good at all not enough variety. Then get rid of that pancake maker and just get a regular waffle iron. But the staff was great

My family stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Asheville SW - Outlet Center Area, located at 12 Rocky Ridge Road, on September 13-14, 2025, in Room 314. Unfortunately, we encountered a serious issue during our stay -- we discovered bed bugs in our room. We noticed itching during the night and woke up with several bites. After returning home, more bites appeared, confirming the issue. I called the front desk and spoke with multiple staff members before reaching the manager, Kaitlyn. She mentioned that the hotel had been fumigated a few months prior but claimed there were no known current issues, and implied that another guest must have brought them in. Regardless of how they got there, the presence of bed bugs is completely unacceptable and extremely concerning for any hotel stay -- especially at a well-known chain like Holiday Inn Express. We will not be returning, and I strongly urge future guests to read past and recent reviews on this hotel and inspect rooms carefully before booking.

Overall: While the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, its location makes it easy to find great local dining nearby. The breakfast in the morning wasn't that good, and the pancakes maker was broken. We stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Kentucky, and it was like night and day. I thought this one being in Ashville was going to be just as nice, but it wasn't. Maybe because the one in Kentucky was brand new, it was much nicer.
