The hotel is absolutely exquisite. Our room was beautifully designed and we had the benefit of an outside terrace. It is in an amazing location by Santa Monica beach and all the staff were wonderful. It was one of the best hotel experiences we have ever had!

Sehr kleiner Pool für ein großes Hotel, eher unpersönliche Atmosphäre und teilweise in die Jahre gekommen. Das gebuchte Zimmer mit Meerblick bot nur seitlichen Meerblick durch ein nicht zu öffnendes Fenster, das Badezimmer war veraltet. Valet Parking mit rund 90 Dollar pro Nacht sehr teuer. Frühstück haben wir nicht genutzt.

Our stay at Casa del Mar exceeded all our expectations. We embarked on a wonderful road trip through California, including Lake Tahoe, and had the opportunity to stay at some of the most luxurious hotels along the way. With complete sincerity, we can say that this hotel was one of the most beautiful. The location is simply unparalleled, and what truly sets the hotel apart is the incredible attention to detail. Our room was magnificent, with breathtaking ocean views, a spacious and exceptionally comfortable bathroom, and every amenity one could possibly expect from a truly luxurious hotel. The entire team was incredibly kind and attentive. A special thank you goes to Hansel, who welcomed us impeccably and made us feel truly cared for from the very beginning. We would also like to mention the restaurant team, whose service was exceptionally professional and added to the overall experience. The only small detail we missed was the evening turndown service, which we would have expected from a hotel of this category. Other than that, our stay was truly fantastic. It was an extraordinary experience, and a place we will remember fondly and would wholeheartedly recommend.

Beautiful hotel right on the beach - yards from Shutters (sister property - much more of beach club vibe). Huge entrance / atrium extending into bar area and dining room - huge windows looking out over the beach. Slightly old fashioned in a charming way. Rooms were absolutely spectacular - beach front chic. The most comfortable bed. Amazing bathrooms too. Only downside being the door / walls to the corridor are very thin. Can hear anyone passing your room. Few service niggles - our second room was a couple of hours late being ready; forgot to make up one of the rooms; breakfast was cold one morning (as was the coffee). But, feedback was gratefully acknowledged. Expenisve ... but (just about) worth it.

Abbiamo prenotato un soggiorno di due notti. Su Booking è evidente che le camere della categoria da noi prenotata siano più grandi. A noi è stata inizialmente assegnata la camera 533, oggettivamente più piccola rispetto a quanto mostrato e descritto. Inoltre, nella camera 533 i vetri erano completamente sporchi, al punto che risultava addirittura difficile vedere chiaramente all'esterno. Un dettaglio che ci ha sorpreso particolarmente considerando il livello e il prezzo di un hotel a 5 stelle. Il problema principale, però, era la posizione della camera: si trova sopra la centrale termica ed è presente un rumore continuo e molto fastidioso, tanto da dare letteralmente la sensazione di trovarsi all'interno di una nave. Dopo aver trascorso la prima notte nella camera 533, durante la quale abbiamo dormito molto male proprio a causa del rumore, la mattina seguente abbiamo segnalato il problema alla reception e chiesto una soluzione. Siamo quindi stati spostati in un'altra camera. Entrando è stato subito evidente che questa avesse le dimensioni corrette rispetto alla categoria prenotata e, soprattutto, fosse finalmente silenziosa. La camera era anche migliore sotto alcuni aspetti, avendo una vista parziale sull'oceano, ma si trattava di una stanza attrezzata per persone con disabilità, senza doccia e dotata esclusivamente di vasca. Un altro aspetto che abbiamo trovato particolarmente negativo riguarda il bagno: non è presente il bidet e non è prevista neppure una doccetta igienica accanto al WC. Comprendiamo che il bidet non sia uno standard negli Stati Uniti, ma l'assenza di qualsiasi alternativa per l'igiene personale risulta, dal nostro punto di vista, decisamente poco igienica e poco adeguata a una struttura di questa categoria. Inoltre, manca completamente anche lo spazzolone per il WC.

The service was exceptional. However, the property is old and tired. The rooms were musty smelling and humid. Our AC was weak and we were told that, because the building is older, that the AC units do get a bit overwhelmed so we had to use a fan for the whole stay. The carpets and mattresses and pillows were old. The pool view and pool deck was a highlight for us, but the service and upkeep of the pool were neglected, towels and garbage sitting there for hours. It was definitely not what it appears to be online. Would not recommend for a stay. The rooms need a reno desperately.

This was by far the worst experience I have ever had at a hotel. My wife and I were attending a concert at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood so we booked the hotel through American Express Fine Hotels, that provides many amenities including early check in when available. When I booked the hotel in early June I sent a message to the hotel that we were planning to be arriving around 2pm and were having an early dinner to attend the concert. Hotel responded that they would accommodate, if possible but check in was 4pm. Upon arrival on July 17th, a room was not ready, but that was ok. We decided to grab a quick light lunch at the hotel restaurant. Around 3:20 we returned to the front desk to see if our room was ready because we needed to freshen up and drive to meet with family and friends about 45 min away. We were advised again the room wasn’t ready, I asked if they had a hospitality room so we could freshen up in. I was told no, but I could use the public restroom around the corner. My comment to the front desk was ‘you expect us to freshen up and change in your public restroom like a vagrant!’. Immediately I asked to speak to the manager, because at $1,300 a night, I expected much more from the customer service. The gal at the front desk whisper to the manager, who never acknowledged me and then walked away. Zero customer service. I then sat down near the front desk in the lobby fuming contemplating on what we could possibly do. After my wife got involved at about 3:40pm a room was finally available. 20 minutes before standard check in! The manager did call the room, but at 3:50PM we were now late to getting to our early dinner and didn’t have time to discuss, but only express our dismay. This is not the end, when we returned from the concert after 11pm, we went to crawl into bed only to find out there was no top sheet, just the comforter throw on the bed. Immediately I called the Front Desk and they did bring sheets to the room but now close to midnight we had to make our own bed! Remember this is $1,300 a night and we are more making our own bed at midnight due to the carelessness of the housekeeping. While waiting for the sheets, I went to grab the complimentary water aluminum container near the bedside, when I went to open it, I noticed the cap wasn’t sealed and so I took it completely off and poured the contents down the sink. The content was not water, but something light pink in color that was not water. This place is utterly disgusting, do not stay here ever! I have notified American Express to have this place removed from their Fine Hotels! If you do decide to stay here be forewarned that cleanliness of your bedding and water are in jeopardy and a the managers level they just don’t care! I would give this place a zero if I could!!

Tout était parfait ! 3 jours de rêve passés au sein de cet établissement. Le cadre est incroyable, tout est pensé pour que notre séjour soit le plus agréable possible. Des chambres spacieuses et bien équipées, un petit déjeuner exceptionnel vue mer, des salons cosy, etc.. En prime, l'ensemble du personnel est très attentif, avec un service personnalisé de grande qualité. Un grand merci à l'ensemble de l'équipe, particulièrement pour le directeur de l'établissement. Nous reviendrons !

The hotel itself and our actual stay were fantastic. The property is right by the beach, features a great restaurant with ocean views, and has a beautiful rooftop pool overlooking the water. Throughout our stay, the staff was busy but visibly tried their best to be attentive, always greeting us with a smile. Unfortunately, I am giving this 3 stars due to a major breakdown in communication regarding our bill after checkout. We discovered an unexpected $500 charge on our card that was not listed on our final folio. We called and left numerous messages with the front desk and accounting to clarify what this amount was for, but no one responded to our inquiries. We eventually had to file an inquiry through our credit card company to get an explanation. It turns out the hotel charged us a $500 "deep cleaning" fee due to our pet having a small accident during our stay. However, we had already notified housekeeping about the accident immediately while on-site, and we were already charged a $125 fee on our bill, which we fully accepted and paid. Applying a massive second charge after departure without any prior notification or returning our calls is highly unprofessional. Beautiful hotel, but very poor post-stay communication and billing transparency.

We were an 18 - strong group of parents and daughters ready to celebrate the school year that just ended and summer ahead - the team at Casa Del Mar delivered! Everyone was blown away by the service and warmth - the manager Hansel and his team (housekeeping was a life saver with all the set-up) treated the teens as welcomed guests and as important as the parents who booked the stay (and accustomed to great experiences). The rooms, the CDM offering and location were perfect - better than even the great reviews had led us to expect.

One keeps hearing, ‘life is good at the beach’. It certainly is blissful at Casa Del Mar. A staple of high end hospitality in Los Angels for multiple decades, it is a big building sitting right on the beach, which oddly is rarity in Southern California. There are not so many 4- or 5-star hotels where one can come down from one’s room barefoot to walk the beach, and this is one of them, using the side door on Pico to avoid reception! 5-star, yet so relaxed. We love it there and now choose to stay in Sea view rooms on the north side of the building, facing Shutters, Santa Monica, Topanga and Malibu beyond. While the south side face the beach beyond parking lots, we can’t afford Sea front rooms, and it would be pointless for us to stay in Palm rooms or even worse City view rooms. That’s our choice, and we stay each time between 12 to 16 nights. The setting is classic sea side, very beautifully made, with big classic bathrooms, including separate toilets, separate shower stalls boating amazing water pressure, unlike many places in Southern California. Heavenly beds, in quite high frames: shorter people might have trouble to get in bed, but a stool is provided. They do a great job at keeping the grand old dame pristine, upgrading this and that year after year, most lately the lighting system and the communication. Service is fantastic consistently. Special kudos to housekeeping. These ladies do a fantastic job. Main service or evening turndown, they never fail at anything, never forget anything. And they know us by name. Valet is super friendly and nice, year after year. They even remember our name. Little to no interaction with senior management, which I find odd for guests returning for extensive stays. But then there is not much to complain about. Place was great value for money right after the pandemics, but double-digit room rate increases year on year are tough on European travellers. Valet parking was $50 in 2023 and has grinded its way up to $80 in 2026. More expensive than Four Seasons on Doheny. This makes any delay in pulling up the car after calling ahead unacceptable. And I do not even mention the compulsory resort fee, this American classic hidden fee. It is what it is. Space for improvement? Of course. Breakfast is good. Classic. Nothing to write home about. Pool service is poor, and the pool are mostly remain unattended with strayed towels all around on a busy day -a rare occurrence in itself. Some nice beach setting with chaise lounge and umbrella is on offer, occasionnally right by the water; but why close at 4.00 pm on a warm sunny day?

Hotel Casa Del Mer was an absolute pleasure. The hotel architecture is rather grand. The hotel staff attends you with old school service. From the front desk to the valet to the pool staff, everyone is charming and the service is first class. The room upgrade to pool side was a treat. The room itself was spacious and immaculate and very quiet while we were there. The bathroom was elegant, with excellent tub and water presure, and there was ample closet space for a 4 day trip. The mini bar was well stocked and the TV was enormous with excellent WIFI. Request room 523 if you want your own pool patio access. Breakfast was pricey, commensurate with the quality of the hotel and CA prices in general, but quantity and quality were impressive. The pool area was comfortable. The lounge chairs always seemed available and the pool and hot tub were very clean and not crowded in May. The view to the Santa Monica pier was lovely. For our purposes the location was perfect for walking the beach and accessing the I 10 or 405 when we had to travel. Our only slight hitch was requesting early and late check in/out that had been offered. We did receive both but a bit of hassle was required. Overall this was the best hotel stay I have enjoyed in some time. I will certainly choose Casa Del Mer every time I am in LA.

Promised that we could have a shower room on the last day in morning as we were leaving late. When we came back from pool they said there are no rooms available. They offer us a room to shower on if we pay daily rate - Very disappointing

Casa del Mar is absolutely gorgeous, and the entire experience was outstanding from start to finish. The service was incredible and the food was delicious. A special shoutout to Brian at check-in. I had accidentally booked the wrong date, and he went completely out of his way to accommodate me. That kind of service is rare and very much appreciated. Highly recommend!!

Hotel style and staff

I wouldn’t bother upgrading to an ocean view, because of the shape of the hotel and how far away the ocean is, there is very little view. Our mattress was in bad shape, but I let them know at checkout.

From being greeted to depature it was an amazing experience. I really enjoyed drinks and lite bites in the lounge, with very comfortable seating and attentive service. A very romantic spot if that's important. Right on the beach and kid-friendly as well. A must if you are in the area. My room was spacious and had a balcony, which made it roomy. They have a house car to take you around town to the mall or restaurants, a very nice feature. Definitely a value for what you get.

This is a beautiful hotel on the beach. Walking distance to downtown Santa Monica. We also used the hotel bikes to ride to Venice. Recommend the hotel package w/breakfast. I like the option of breakfast at the hotel or at their sister hotel, Shutters on the Beach. Beautiful large lobby. Music in the evening. Complimentary water and coffee in the morning. There is a fridge in the room- but it's stocked with hotel wine, soda, etc. So there is no space for your snacks or drinks. I've stayed at Shutters on the Beach too. Recommend both.

You really have to think hard to come up with something. If you had to say something, it’d be the slightly outdated pool area and that there‘s no free water in the gym.

Great hotel with beautiful views and excellent service. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite that was clean and comfortable with great views of the beach. I was worried it would be too noisy but it was very quiet the entire time we were there. The service was consistently great from the valets to the wait staff at the restaurant to housekeeping. This feels like an oasis in the heart of LA. Highly recommend.

I recently visited Hotel Casa Del Mar for work, but during my birthday. I knew this hotel was beautiful, as I stayed here way back when I turned 30 years old, so it's special to me. That said, Hansel, who was at the front desk upon my arrival made this stay even more special to me - I'll forever be loyal to this hotel! Located right on the beach, and walking distance to everything you'll want to visit - ie Santa Monica wharf and promenade, as well as Venice Beach - the location can't be beat. The experience is luxury, valet is quick and easy, the team welcoming you so kind and on top of things. Then, you get a room that is clean, spacious, airy and light, with sweet details like a rubber duck at the bathtub. The gym has everything you'll need and there is even a spa. The restaurant is delicious with live music and a view of the beach. I loved the ahi appetizer. For my unique experience, after just one conversation and learning about my birthday Hansel surprised me with chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling water in my room, after I got back from a day of meetings. It means so much to me that he thought to do something kind for me, and I'm a nutrition coach so the treat couldn't have been more perfect, ha! At arrival he was welcoming, warm, interested in getting to know his guests, and on top of it all, elevated my experience with a thoughtful surprise. Love this place, and a special thanks for this trip's surprises.

Un bagno enorme e molto bello ma non accettabile la doccia nella vasca con una tenda a chiudere ed un getto doccia imbarazzante

We spent a few days at the hotel while seeing tourist sights in the LA area. This was our first visit. I suspect that we'll be back. It's as lovely as the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego but smaller and without all the tourists.
