Reviewed Sep 15, 2026We booked an airport shuttle through them (about an hour), driver Irham was perfect and helped us with getting a sim card and some food on the way. Also booked shared taxi through Bua to Bukit Lawang which is was perfect! (210k pp). We stayed only a short night but it was perfect after a long flight. The nasi goreng for breakfast was delicious! The airconditioning in the room was nice as it was very hot in Medan. It was nice that we could refill our water bottles for free!
The bathroom had a bit of a bad smell.

Reviewed Aug 31, 2026All the plants and greenery is so pretty. Love how clean and well organized everything is. The staff are lovely. The included breakfast was yummy. The exposed brick in the room was cool and the room is so comfortable with a desk to work from, excellent WiFi, a wardrobe to unpack your things, air conditioning, big comfy bed, and a private bathroom with hot shower. Restaurant is across the street and Grab delivery is available as well.

Reviewed Aug 26, 2026Rustige buurt in een buitenwijk van Medan. Kamer is ruim en schoon. Shuttleservice naar vliegveld. Eten in restaurants is prima, maar er is niet veel keuze. Het restaurant is 100 meter van het hoofdgebouw en ook daar zijn kamers. Een grab naar het centrum kost ongeveer €3
Douche had een lastige gebruiksaanwijzing.

Reviewed Aug 19, 2026Lovely open restaurant space downstairs, as well as communal chill out area upstairs outside our room. Hot shower too. We had an early flight and the staff prepared takeaway fruit platters for us which was very much appreciated.
Needed to turn on the faucet over sink to get shower running and this meant there was a lot of water on bathroom floor. Otherwise we were quite comfortable.

We verbleven in locatie 1 en een aantal meter verderop was locatie 2, waar we hebben gedineerd. Onze kamer was eenvoudig, maar van alle gemakken voorzien en het bed en de douche waren allebei heel comfortabel. De gastvrouw kwamen we ‘s morgens tegen en zij checkte bij ons of we alles hadden wat we nodig hadden en zwaaide ons uit toen we met de taxi vertrokken. Hele fijne plek!

Bua nos organizó absolutamente todo: la recogida, una noche extra sin ningún problema, el trekking de 2 días/1 noche en la selva, el alojamiento en Bukit Lawang y el traslado final directo al aeropuerto. Todo estuvo coordinado a la perfección, sin ningún fallo ni imprevisto, y siempre nos dio respuestas claras y rápidas a cada pregunta que le hicimos. Pero lo que realmente marca la diferencia es ella misma: Bua es una anfitriona extraordinaria, cercana, atenta y con un cariño genuino hacia sus huéspedes. Se nota que no es solo un negocio para ella, sino que disfruta cuidando de quien pasa por su casa. Gracias a su calidez nos sentimos acompañados en todo momento, como en casa, en un país que éramos la primera vez que visitábamos. Un alojamiento con encanto rural, rodeado de naturaleza, pero sobre todo con una anfitriona que lo convierte en una experiencia inolvidable. Lo recomendamos sin ninguna duda a cualquiera que pase por Medan camino de Bukit Lawang.

Reviewed Jul 23, 2026Het hotel is top, kamer is super fijn en een leuke en fijne omgeving. Beetje uit de drukte maar in onze reis paste dat goed. De mensen zijn erg vriendelijk en we konden wat eten bij het restaurant wat erg lekker was. De wifi was prima. Voor zo ver ik mij kan herinneren is er geen water tank maar bij binnenkomst staan er flesjes water en een kan gefilterd water en dat was voor ons genoeg. Er is een bureau met een goede werk stoel in de kamer.

Hier lässt sich super die Weiterreise organisieren. Der Fahrer Irham ist ebenfalls super hilfsbereit, lustig und nett!

Reviewed Jul 14, 2026Wir hatten dank dem Bua Guest House einen tollen Start in den Urlaub! Die Unterkunft ist außerhalb von Medan, dennoch kommt man schnell in die Stadt. Das Zimmer ist für zwei Nächte völlig in Ordnung. Das Beste an der Unterkunft sind die sehr freundliche Gastgeberin und ihr Team, wir hatten eine schöne Zeit, haben das Essen in der Unterkunft sehr genossen und neue Leute kennengelernt!

Reviewed Jul 5, 2026Cette Guesthouse située au sud-est de Medan et est idéalement placée pour passer un moment au calme, loin du bruit du centre-ville. Grab très facile pour se rendre n’importe où. La chambre est simple mais très propre et la literie est confortable. Le coin repas permet de faire connaissance des hôtes présents et la cuisinière Ida est adorable et elle saura vous confectionner de délicieuses spécialités… Un grand merci à elle pour son sourire et le plaisir gustatif qu’elle m’a procuré. Ridho et Rama qui tiennent la guesthouse sont extrêmement chaleureux et bienveillants et ils n’hésitent pas à passer un peu de temps avec vous. Merci à tous les 2 et aussi à toute votre équipe pour votre accueil et votre gentillesse.

Ils sont venus nous chercher à l'aéroport et nous ont organisé un taxi à partager pour aller à Bukit Lawang. Une belle cabane remplie de fleurs. Nous avons pu laisser un surf pendant une semaine et venir le récupérer. Propose également des repas.

Reviewed Jul 2, 2026Bua Guest House itself is absolutely wonderful. The owners and staff are incredibly welcoming, helpful, and kind. The hospitality here is great, and I recommend the guesthouse for your stay.
However, I booked a jungle trek in Bukit Lawang through them, and unfortunately, the agency and the guide they selected for me, Ajan Ayuda (from Bukit Lawang Jungle Trekking), made my trekking experience disappointing. His behavior was unprofessional, disrespectful, and unsafe. First, he showed zero respect for privacy and personal health choices. I explicitly told him the day before that I could not do the tubing/rafting due to health reasons. I had to repeat this to him several times, but he was completely unsupportive and just ignored my choice. When I asked where I could wash myself at the camp with a bit of privacy and a bucket (since I couldn't swim in the river due to my health condition), he laughed at me. He pressured me constantly, ignored my need for personal space, and refused to say goodbye or apologize at the end. Second, he failed to ensure the group's safety. Another girl in my trek group expressed anxiety about the slippery and steep downhill sections. The next day, he completely ignored her fear, left her behind during difficult passages, and the other tourists and I had to slow down to help her ourselves. His walking pace was also terrible, stopping every 5 minutes during climbs, making the trek exhausting. Finally, he showed zero respect for the Gunung Leuser National Park: he constantly made loud noises to call the wildlife, ripped off young leaves for fun, and threw tomatoes and cucumbers directly at wild monkeys to feed them. Because he ignored his own safety instructions regarding proximity, a monkey became aggressive toward a member of our group who got too close. It is really a shame because Ajan Ayuda is young, dynamic, makes jokes, and clearly has potential as a guide. However, he seriously needs to change his attitude, improve his ethics, and learn to respect his clients.

Reviewed Jun 29, 2026We stayed the night at Bua Guest House and instantly wished we could've stayed longer. Such a peaceful village location and easy enough to get a taxi into Medan. The room itself was really comfortable and clean with lovely views over the fields. The staff were the highlight though, so friendly and helpful and cook a really tasty breakfast! They also have a small restaurant where you can order food throughout the day/evening, sadly we didn't have time. Would definitely recommend! Take a walk through the village, the people there are so friendly and welcoming!

Reviewed Jun 2, 2026We werden door de chauffeur opgehaald op de luchthaven, wat fijn was. Onze kamers waren boven het restaurant. Het restaurant was rustig dus we hadden geen geluidsoverlast. Verder is het een simpele maar prima kamer. Aardig personeel. Wat ontbreekt in de advertentie is dat er een openbaar zwembad recht tegenover zit! Onze kinderen waren blij dat ze voor 15000 rupiah pp lekker konden zwemmen en glijden.
Bij ons bleef in de badkamer best wat water liggen, al is dat in veel badkamers in Azië. Wij bleven maar één nachtje en toen was er s avonds hele harde regen en storm. Dit kwam ook de kamer binnen. Gelukkig waren we optijd om de bagage weg te halen van onder het raam.

Das Badezimmer könnte sauberer sein, ist aber ja ein generelles Thema in Asien ;).

Reviewed May 8, 2026Bua Guest House bietet ein tolles Rundum-Sorglos-Paket für Touristen, denn man kann hier alle möglichen Touren in verschiedensten Richtungen buchen. Das Zimmer war in Ordnung und die Mitarbeiter alle sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Als unsere Dusche nicht funktionierte, wurde uns sofort Ersatz in einem anderen (freien) Zimmer angeboten. Ich empfehle auch direkt dort zu essen - ich schwärme heute noch von Orek Tempe!!! Unsere Weiterreise nach Ketambe wurde organisiert und hat gut geklappt - da die Anreise mit guten 10 Stunden aber sehr anstrengend war, würde ich sie das nächste Mal eher auf 2 Tage aufteilen.

Le bruit de la pompe de la réserve à eau sur une des 3 chambres n'est pas très agréable pour bien dormir. Et nous n'avons pas pu avoir un petit dej complet en take away pour notre départ très tôt (avant 6h), c'est dommage.
