The location is perfect for the NEC

We stayed 2 nights, the room wasn't cleaned during our stay, the electric in the room blew when we switched on the heater (the room was freezing as the window was broken and wouldn't close) and the kettle so had to wait for maintenance to come and sort. Breakfast is poor, not worth the £20

It was all very nice but the price was a lot during this weekend. Spa facilities were not available. Should have been notified before cancellation.

The room was lovely, spacious and really comfortable. The bed was extremely comfy and I had a great night’s sleep. The bathroom was excellent – spotlessly clean, modern and well stocked with plenty of toiletries. Overall, the room felt like a really good standard and made for a very comfortable stay.

There wasn’t really anything I disliked about the stay. The food was okay rather than exceptional, and the bar was extremely busy, particularly at peak times, but neither of these things really impacted our stay. Overall, we had a very enjoyable and comfortable experience.

Easy to access and plenty of parking available.

The spa was closed and the staffs attitude towards any compensation for this was this facilities are complimentary and they could only offer free parking. It should be made clearer that the facilities are not available when booking through booking.com.

The room was lovely and spacious, super clean and just what was needed for the stay. Working onsite at the NEC so location was perfect for walking to and from.

The service in the main bar during buy periods is very slow, and not overly attentive. Coffee bar in the reception opens quite late considering lots of people will be starting early.

We paid £45.00 pp for a team meal and received chicken tikka masala and rice which was very disappointing, I paid £17.00 for 2 pints of larger which I think is very overpriced, the pool was also closed and there was no reduction in the price or anything offered as alternative for value for money and as small as it seems there was no biscuits with the tea and coffee in the room which is very unusual for a hotel.

Terrible room service food, no sauna or steam open, £20 for car parking after paying over £400 for 2 nights.

I wasn’t able to get a toothbrush from the concierge and the bed wasn’t that comfortable. It was also very expensive for a last minute booking considering the pool was being refurbished and breakfast was an additional £18!

Overall, it was very good.

The walk from the main door to the reception was a bit longer than expected. The room was nice, but if I were sharing a room with someone, I believe a show/tiolet door would be an advantage. I ordered a meal at the bar; it was quite late, after 9 pm: fish and chips with onion rings, which arrived after quite a long wait. Everything was cold I didn't complain at the time I wanted to get to bed it had been a long day.

The shower was good

There was only one bath towel and this had been used, took a long time to get replacements. We found a used towel under the bed. The room was dated and a bit drab. The wardrobe was miniscule, hang a couple of items up & it was full. The housekeeping didnt top up the tea/coffee and didnt replace/clean the cups

Difficult to find way in and out from East Car Park. As solo traveller, bit tricky getting seated for food in the busy Gild Bar and keeping my place when getting up for next item at breakfast. Overall not as luxurious as pictures on website.

Restaurant service was awful on one busy night; waited over an hour for a basic (pasta) meal; asked to pay in advance which is unusual; too many different staff for tasks rather than assigned to a table; shame the pool was unavailable due to refurbishment; lifts were a bit poor (one not working and another didn't work on one occasion, leaving one only)

Bed was really comfy, the shower nice size with good complementary products, good size desk too for working. Fan and additional plug radiator in room if needed. Room looked nice, relaxing space. Hotel looked smart. Staff were really nice and helpful. Perfect for the NEC.

The TV didn't have many channels and wasn't smart. The toilet had some urine stains behind the lid. Ordered room service and the food wasn't great, pizza was burnt and the chicken wings didn't task nice at all. The kettle was on a shelf at the bottom of the desk, made if difficult to use. I stayed in lobby B and it was a good old work from the main reception.

The staff did try to help when we complained about the noise, and we were offered another room. When we explained the problems the following morning, they also refunded our second night without any difficulty.

Unfortunately, there were problems with almost every part of our stay. Our room was above the entrance and extremely loud booming music from an event continued until around 2am. We were moved, but the replacement room was unbearably hot as the air conditioning wasn’t working. There was already a fan in the room, suggesting this was a known issue. We then found what appeared to be a pubic hair in one bed and blood staining on the other, so we returned to the original noisy room. That room was dusty, towels were stained and the soap dispenser had run out. The food was expensive and disappointing. The pizza was basically cheese on a very thin base and the steak sandwich was mostly bread with very little steak. My daughter was brought pepperoni instead of the margherita she ordered, so I had finished my meal by the time her replacement arrived. Our drinks arrived halfway through the meal and that order was wrong too. What bothered me most was being told that the hotel regularly holds events. The refund for our second night was dealt with very easily, which made me feel that the noise issue was already well known. Guests should be warned before booking if their room may be badly affected by an event. A refund afterwards doesn’t give you back a night’s sleep. We were both exhausted the following day and unable to do everything we had planned, so it genuinely affected our trip.

We liked the great location, the very nice room, and the friendly staff. The breakfast was exceptional with a huge amount of choice to suit all diets and preferences, including hot and cold options, continental items, and cooked food. We were also allowed to check in early due to high demand, which was appreciated.

We didn’t like the car park charges. The room was already very expensive, and adding another £20 per night for parking felt unreasonable, especially when we could have moved the car to the NEC and parked for free.

How quick issues was resolved

A lot of upgrade works happening and only 2 lifts out of the 5 within the main block of the hotel was working

Quilt was too small for 2 people. Food from bar was awful. I ordered fish and chips which I thought was a child's portion... £21. Cheeky. My partner ordered a chicken burger which was dry and tasteless. Extremely disappointed There was only one towel when we arrived

The price was extremely expensive for what it was then having to pay a further £70 odd for parking and breakfast and the breakfast wasn't that great either. The ques at the bar on the Friday evening due to having lots of reform in the building wasn't great purely because both sides of the bar wasn't open and then the reform party kept pushing in it was just chaos and could have been more organised. On the Saturday evening I was also verbally abused by another guest in the hotel as she'd had too much to drink this left me very upset so we left first thing Saturday morning rather than using breakfast facilities and so on. We was above a smoking area so sleep wasn't 100% as it was loud but is what it is.

Bed was comfortable. Portion size of meal was superb. Coffee was good, if a bit expensive.

The cost of car parking was ridiculous considering how much I paid for the room.

My small room with a high single bed against the wall. THE READING LIGHT was broken, and the main light switch was out of arms reach so I had to climb into bed in the dark. The television requires tuning , I could only get BBC1,BBC2 ITV AND CHANNEL 4. When I wanted the news channels. You need to rethink the position of the switch for the kettle, it’s not practical on the glass table, needs to be over the tea tray cupboard.

The Towels were marked Extractor fan in the bathroom did not work, so the mirror steamed up and put damp air in the room. The bath was damaged in many places, a crude patch work of repairs made it un-pleasant to use as a bath The plug hole was dirty. The sink was cracked and no plug- jewelery could have been lost. The toilet seat was not soft close, at the price I paid, it should have been. Only 2 tv channels No fridge The sink in gents toilets, downstairs, were not clean The cost of the room was four star priced, the quality of the room was barely 2 star, closer to 1 star. I was not impressed by a Hilton hotel, a big name, supposedly, offering such a poor quality room. In the foyer there were cracked tiles with black/yellow tape and The carpet was stained, this was in the main reception public area. I am very disappointed that my room and hotel was of such poor standard, I feel my stay was not up to the required standards

I ordered the pasta with meatballs on my first evening. I have to say the sauce was a little bit bland but the meatballs were like small cannonballs. Very tough and no flavour. Sorry, I'm just being honest.

Phone in room didn’t work. Told it would be looked into. Nothing happened. Had to call hotel externally. Hand towel in bathroom washed but very stained. Room not mad up for second night. Just coffee cups washed. No additional milk provided for second night. Room next door guy smoking out the French windows. Smoke came into room. Only told about refurbishing after cancellation period elapsed. No swimming pool available due to refurbishing. Not aware of this until after cancellation period elapsed. I chose hotel for pool and gym. Breakfast areas chaotic and unwelcoming. Cutlery only found in one area heavily populated by customers so had to queue just for cutlery. One toaster not working so large queue for other toaster. One drink dispenser not working so large queue to get teas and coffees. Tables now shabby and dated. Varnish coming off. They look like pub tables. One lift not working so lengthy wait for two other extremely busy lifts.

Goodness where to start?! Unchanged bed! Dirty room, unhelpful staff, change of the room, second room has no hot water to shower, discovered at 10 pm! Off to the third room, no help with our bags, Dorothy shower, dirty room phone. At breakfast, you are still eating and the staff keep coming to u asking have u finished, keep visiting to take ur plates away and you keep saying no I’m still eating stop rushing me. So much grief and unpleasant time created by hotel. Affected our weekend. Other than sorry no compensation or anything as service quality for the hard time given to us

Das Hotel wird gerade renoviert (Lärmbelästigung) und das ist bitter nötig. Alles wirkt abgenutzt und funktioniert teilweise nicht, wie das Türschloss auf einigen Toiletten. Zwei meiner Freunde hatten Ungeziefer im Zimmer. Das Zimmerpersonal vergaß den Mülleimer im Badezimmer zu leeren und der Dreck wurde nur von einer Ecke in die Anderen gewischt. Nachts konnte man das Zuschlagen anderer Zimmertüren hören.

The breakfast was amazing, we were really impressed with the variety. We also enjoyed the spa and pool facilities.

Only downside was the works being done and the main entrance being closed, but it didn’t impact our stay that much.

Property was cancelled on us when we were 40mins away after nearly 4hours driving, one person called advising it was because they over booked then spoke to sam who said it was maintenance, if going to cancel on a booking made with 6 months advance then might be best to get the story straight on why. We came down for an event right next to the hotel, left us with no accommodation and the one they advised us to go to had zero parking and was very rough looking- would never pay to stay here so we left and every hotel in the vicinity was fully booked so stayed nearly 35mins outside of the area, had to cancel all plans we had for the Saturday night- will never book again

I particularly appreciated the convenience of having everything within easy reach, including the restaurant, gym, swimming pool, as well as the event taking place directly at the hotel. Location. Event was in the hotel. Day time bar/food staff were lovely!

Reception staff were unhelpful. We paid for parking upon check in but charged at the exit. Took 3 visits to reception to sort it as staff couldn’t see what I was charged for apparently. Also was refused a receipt. And then were charged again for parking upon exit even after being assured it was sorted, by someone I assumed was a manager, I didn’t bother to go back to reception. It was ruining my stay at this point trying to get help from them. We missed the room service so asked for new towels. House keeping staff seemed fretful of swapping out towels. Said we would need to speak to a supervisor? Late bar staff seemed to be miserable under the supervision of a very rude and unhappy lady that came on about 11/12 pm. Breakfast staff blowing nose, putting on lip balm and scratching head with the same gloves they served the table. Another went to the hot counter to pick something up and coughed over the hot food. Serious H&S training needed.

The hotel has a lot to offer in terms of facilities and is located next to a lot of different amenities and the NEC. The executive king room was well equipped with a separate shower and bath and the lounge access it includes provides exceptional value.

Access to rooms in the hotel is primary via the lifts and 2/3rds of them in the C block of the hotel were out of commission during most of my stay due to refurbishment which fell to one on the day of departure. Which was not ideal when having move a number of bags. The air conditioner in my rock was locked on heat and quite noisy which I did not report as I didn’t want to be moved and the hotel was oversubscribed.

Got put into a smaller room as they gave my room away even tho i booked 4 months earlier the room was dirty with stains and hair everywhere complained to staff and got told a manger would be there at 10pm went down and no one was there asked again and got told to come back at 8am again no manger was there to be seen

We checked into our room ordered a room service via QR code and paid online after an hour no food has been delivered. I went to check downstairs just to to be told that the system working properly so no food has been ordered. I have asked for a tray charge to be refunded at this case and the food is still delivered which I have been told is impossible because it’s paid online instead I was offered a dessert that I didn’t want dessert has been delivered and it wasn’t very nice but you know that happens not a problem I expected smooth sailing from there.As part of our booking we have booked a recovery kit for our room on the website. It says in your room at your convenience when questioned this with Duty manager as nothing was in the room we’ve been told we need to go to the leisure club, they took us to this smallest filthiest room with a whole fake nail on the floor, we’ve been showed how to use it even though this wasn’t without a problem. This is when I had enough and I went to speak to the team again they didn’t really know much about this kit so they’ve researched it online as apparently no one ever orders it. It has been agreed that some sort of competition will be applied to my account. There was a reconstruction going on in the hotel which made the elevators to the side of our hotel extremely slow waiting up to 10 minutes for an elevator it’s a shame there was no notification of the refurbishment on a website access to the NEC from the hotel have also been restricted so the dedicated doors were closed due to private event which was a shame but private event security was quite rude to us when we tried to enter the hotel through the designated entrance which we then fed back to the hotel and they have actioned swiftly. executive lounge was stocked really well for afternoon happy hour and for morning breakfast. This was sadly very expensive disappointment and what was supposed to be relaxing time was just a headache - i would consider other options in the area in the future - its a shame as this was once a fantastic hotel.

The Executive Lounge at the Birmingham Metropole was a highlight of our stay - spacious and relaxing. The evening canapes were top-notch, but what really set it apart was the exceptional team. Jenise, Jamie, and Clara were unbelievably warm, welcoming, and attentive from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back!

It has been a fantastic experience staying at Hilton Birmingham Metropole. By invitation of Simon, we came for a lovely business celebration - HBM’s 50th Anniversary. What a brilliant evening. The theme was gorgeous. The food was fantastic. And we stayed in an AvantGlamp pod the first night and hotel room the second night loved it! I’d recommend staying here in either of the rooms. The Glamp pod surrounded by nature just off site between the Hotel’s main building and the NEC gave the feeling of it being a rural escape in the city. The staff are lovely here have been lovely. Thank you to Lilian at the bar. She was very professional but also really easy to talk to. She was able to advise me on both food and good drinks. Thanks Lilian! Thanks to the wonderful team here! Simon, Louise, Ali! You’ve got a great team here!
