You have to be a little lucky with parking spot. Otherwise a firm walk from P2-3 to the hotel.

The Hotel even offered breakfast earlier than normal, so we could catch an early train to our next stop!! If we ever go to Gruyères again, we will definitely stay at Hotel De Ville!!

Reviewed Aug 12, 2026Un charme fou et un cadre de rêve pour une véritable immersion Suisse. La décoration et le mobilier sont magnifiques et donnent beaucoup de caractère à l’établissement. Nous avions également une très jolie vue depuis notre chambre. Petit plus appréciable : un petit réfrigérateur à disposition, parfait pour garder nos boissons au frais pendant la nuit.
Le seul petit point à prévoir est que le parking se trouve assez éloigné de l’hôtel. Cela reste tout à fait compréhensible puisque l’établissement est situé au cœur du village, dans une zone où la circulation est interdite pour préserver le charme du lieu.

The rooms were very basic. I also paid for three breakfasts on arrival. Later realised we had to leave before the breakfast opened at 8am. Tried to get it refunded and was told to come back in the morning but no one was there. I have emailed the hotel but had no response.

Es war vereinbart, dass wir um 7:30h das Morgenessen einnehmen können, weil wir weiterwandern. Leider war es dann 8h, bis alles bereitstand. Wahrscheinlich wurde vergessen, die zuständige Person zu informieren.

Reviewed Jul 22, 2026Wir waren begeistert von dem kleinen Dorf Gruyère und haben unser Auto auf dem obersten Parkplatz, ca. 5 Minuten zu Fuß vom Hotel abgestellt. Wir wurden von dem sehr freundlichen Hotelmitarbeiter herzlich empfangen und haben abends noch im Hotel ein sehr gutes Käsefondue gegessen, auch hier waren die Bedienungen sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Unser Zimmer war zur Ortsmitte hin gelegen und trotzdem ruhig während der Nacht. Empfehlung: unbedingt im HR Giger-Café einen Kaffee trinken : ) Ingesamt ist das Dorf, das Hotel und die kleinen Geschäfte und der tolle Ausblick auf die umliegenden Berge ein sehr schönes Erlebnis!

Der einzige Aufhänger ist das Himmelbett, womit auch auf den Fotos geworben wird. Kühlschrank ist laut und muss nachts ausgesteckt werden - kühlt aber sonst gut. Das Bad hat keine Ablagefläche und ist mindestens 50 Jahre alt!

Reviewed Jul 19, 2026Being located in the centre of the medieval village of Gruyere was magical - we arrived just after the tourist crowds had left (around 6pm) and had moved on by the time they arrived the next morning... this meant we spent a beautiful peaceful evening strolling around the village and enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. Hotel was very authentic - could really tell we were in Switzerland rather than a chain hotel - which is exactly what we wanted.
The family room was at the top of the building and extremely hot (it was during a heatwave so understandable), but there was only one fan which barely functioned and was extremely dusty. There weren't enough plug sockets to plug the bedside light as well as the fan or any devices that needed charging - appreciate it's an old building but some extension leads would be beneficial. There was no water or tea/coffee making equipment in the room. We were only provided with 2 towels for a family of 4. The breakfast was a bit limited, although the kids did really enjoy the meringues & cream!!

Le petit déjeuner à 15 francs suisse n'était pas exceptionnel, il y avait peu de choix. Par exemple, on pouvait seulement avoir des œufs à la coque ou des œufs durs. Il y avait peu d'équipement dans les chambres, même pas une petite machine à thé/café.

Reviewed Jul 13, 2026Die Zimmer waren sauber, nicht mehr ganz die neuesten aber durchaus ansprechend. Keine Klimaanlage, aber üblicherweise kühlte es dort ausreichend ab - könnte aber mit zunehmenden Hitzeperioden durchaus auch ein Thema werden.
Das Hotel konnte nichts dafür, aber es ist ein wichtiger Punkt den alle die in dem Örtchen übernachten wollen beachten sollten: Alle Zimmer die zum Dorfplatz gehen haben zwar diesen wunderschönen Blick. Das Hotel genau auf der Gegenseite des unseren hat jedoch in der Nacht auf der Terrasse vom Dorfplatz eine Art Privat Party gemacht - es stellte sich heraus dass es tatsächlich die Angestellten des anderen Hotels waren - mit lautem Geschrei und Grölen. Und zwar bis ca. 4:00 Uhr morgens. Das konnte man am ganzen Dorfplatz laut hören und hat uns die Nachtruhe komplett zerstört. Wenn man dieses Risiko minimieren will entweder Zimmer mit Blick nach außen oder außerhalb des Ortes anderswo übernachten, es war wirklich eine anstrengende Nacht!

Petit déjeuner quelconque : Jambon cuit tranché venant du supermarché, confitures " Bonne Maman ", Fromages et jus de fruit industriels, Pains et croissants décongelés. Chambre mal éclairée et ne correspondant pas à notre réservation : 2 lits double au lieu de 4 lits simple promis par téléphone, salle de bains d'une autre époque. Prix exagéré pour ce confort minimal : pas de climatisation Moquette plus qu'usée dans le couloir de l'entrée.
