Cavalier South Beach Hotel

We've stayed here before in 2018 and we liked the location and therefore we booked again in 2026

We've stayed here before in 2018 and we were really disappointed this time. The hotel is run down and needs an upgrade. Especially the bedding. The foyer and passages had a very funny odor. Very sweet.

If you want to stay somewhere that embraces the traditional art deco of south beach, but without the neon party atmosphere that has plagued the strip recently then the Cavalier is perfect. The easiest way to describe it is as “the grown up choice” The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The car valet service works well, and is worth paying the little bit extra over conventional parking. Philip on reception was a real pleasure to deal with. The rooms were clean, and turned down every day. A 5 minute walk to the beach, with sun loungers and beach towels included.

The only reason it’s getting a 9/10 not the full blown 10 is that even though loungers and towels are included, beach trolleys are not, so that’s an additional cost for those who are concious of their UV consumption. No onsite parking (but none of these hotels directly on ocean drive do), so budget $20 a day parking for self park or $35 for valet (which is well worth it for the convenience)

Excellent location, close to the beach. Very warm staff. Beatifull bathrooms.

Tiny rooms. The AC was extremelly cold. The windows can´t be opened.

Para dias pessoas está com ótimo tamanho, mas o quarto que teoricamente seria para 4 pessoas, seria pequeno se com total ocupação. O banheiro poderia ter mais prateleiras para apoio. Mas mesmo assim, foi muito bom

Lift a bit noisey

We loved the hotel decor, the welcoming of the hotel staff. Philip, front desk was very helpful, friendly and went out of his way to take our luggage to the Lyft pick up location down the sidewalk(they do not come on Ocean Drive for pick up). We have breakfast, was good and satisfying. Philip provided a map and pointed out different places for us. The room was nice and clean. We particularly liked the unique elevator.

We found the room’s bathroom sink area was really small as we didn’t have place to store our toiletries. We loved the shower and the rain shower head.

אמנם המלון במיקום מרכזי אבל החדרים והמעלית היו מתחת לכל ביקורת. המעלית מקולקלת ורק מנהל הקבלה מעלה את האורחים לחדרים. החדר היה צפוף ועם ריח של טחב. לא היה לנו נעים ולכן עזבנו באותו היום.

Nice art deco hotel, super location right at the Miami pier, nice staff, possible to borrow beach towels and sunbeds for free (not umbrellas).

The bathroom doors don’t 100% close which was fine for us since we’re very close, but maybe awkward for others and good to know. Also wish umbrellas were included in sunbeds-deal.

El aire acondicionado en el pasillo es muy frio y contrasta con el calor de afuera y cuando caminas por el pasillo te da frio y no tiene sentido ser tan frio el pasillo y aufera yo pondria la energia que se gasta adentro del pasillo para refrigerar y entonces tendrian mas oportunidades de que gente como afuera del hotel nosotros siempre comiamos adentro

Hotel butique, passou por facelift, portanto guarda uma infraestrutura antiga, mas tudo funciona. Ótima localização e tudo dentro do esperado, gostei da hospedagem.

Por ter passado por facelift, tem coisas que não são fáceis de melhorar, como: espaço do quarto, alguns detalhes da acomodação, banheiro em geral, infraestrutura de ar-condicionado, elevador tem uns 100 anos (não é brincadeira), mas como disse, tudo funciona de forma razoável. Ficaria de novo no hotel.

The room was excellent, comfy and spacious. The food was fantastic in the reception downstairs. The lift was vintage and a great experience and the music was classic. A great stay in fantastic place with friendly staff and brilliant weather. A true pleasure to stay at.

It was a beautiful old building, both inside and out, which has been well maintained. The location was perfect, right on Ocean Drive.

The WiFi was a bit erratic.

I love the location, the food at the restaurant was great. The guy on the front desk was very nice, friendly, helpful.

The waiter at the hotel’s restaurant wasn’t nice or friendly. They even added two strangers to our table and when they brought the bill they added what they ordered on our bill. That wasn’t a nice experience.

location staff was friendly

very loud, thin walls other guests not being respectful of noise and how late it was. shower was weird very hard to shower without getting water everywhere especially with a rainfall shower head .. It was difficult to get into the place with roads being closed off and walking in the heat with all out luggage through crowds to get there. Cab driver was also clueless on how to navigate through the streets to get us closer.

Tivemos um sério incidente de segurança durante a estadia: outro hóspede, visivelmente embriagado, tentou entrar em nosso quarto durante a noite, enquanto minha esposa grávida estava dentro. O hotel não detectou nem preveniu a situação — eu mesmo tive que ligar para a recepção. No dia seguinte, o Assistant Manager se comprometeu a investigar o caso e retornar com uma resposta no mesmo dia, mas foi embora do hotel sem fazê-lo. Ninguém na recepção tinha qualquer registro do ocorrido. Ao escalar o caso para o General Manager, a resposta minimizou tanto a falha de segurança quanto o compromisso não cumprido, e a compensação oferecida (30% de desconto) não refletiu a gravidade do ocorrido, especialmente envolvendo uma hóspede gestante. Difícil recomendar para casais esperando um bebê ou para quem valoriza como um hotel lida com incidentes de segurança envolvendo seus hóspedes.

Great location, tasty breakfast (but there are a bit better options outside the hotel for a similar price), amazing art deco lobby (but the rooms are more modest), friendly staff

Only sun beds are included in the resort fee, and you have to pay extra for an umbrella. In the room, you cannot fully close the rolling bathroom doors - there is a 5-10cm gap, what makes you feel a little uncomfortable while using the toilet and another person is in the room.

The location is perfect! Close to the beach, main attractions and restaurants. Hotel: We were first placed to room 317. I have to say that the room is bigger than the other ones, but, AC doesn't work, wifi reception is awful and mini fridge didn't get any cold. Then, The hotel concierge (Big THANK YOU to Alejandro) moved us to room 312. It was amazing. No issues at all. Concierge: People are simply amazing! They did their best to make us comfortable.

Room 317. The room has so many issues to be fixed.

The location was great and the art deco decor was perfect for the area. The staff was very helpful, gave us some great suggestions. Beds were comfortable and the rooms were very clean. The outlets could have been more plentiful and maybe a little more space to set things down but very cute room.

Il n'y avait aucun rangement dans nos chambres, les chambres sont petites, les petits déjeuners sont vraiment petits

Sehr gute Lage, extrem nette Mitarbeiter, alles sehr unkompliziert. Gratis liegen am Strand. Zimmer mit perfekter Größe.

Frühstück könnte etwas mehr sein - es gibt bessere Frühstücke zu kaufen im Restaurant, aber das inkludierte war etwas wenig aber geschmacklich vollkommen okay.

Quartos com zero isolamento acústico, acordei diversas vezes com barulho dos demais hóspedes. Camas estranhas. Ar condicionado que não gela tão bem (isso que não fomos no auge do calor). Elevador não funcionando direito. Café da manhã ínfimo e horário reduzido.

Das Hotel ist im Art Deco Style, wunderschön eingerichtete Lobby, Sitzmöglichkeiten drinnen und draußen, Lage direkt am Ocean Drive. Morgens kann man draußen am Ocean Drive frühstücken, das ist schon einmalig. Parkhaus ist direkt um die Ecke, vielleicht 2 Minuten zu Fuß. Angenehmes Publikum, freundliches Personal. Absolut empfehlenswert.

Minden kérésünknek igyekeztek eleget tenni, a parkolást profin megoldották. Közel a vízpart, napozóágy is tartozik a szobához. Nem volt kilátás és terasz, cserébe csendes hátsó szobát kaptunk.

The great location of this hotel and nice room

It's incredibly noisy on the first floor. If you have a room on the first floor, you'll hear everything that's going on in the lobby, at reception, what the staff is saying, what's going on in the kitchen, and so on.This is very important for those who have jet lag and who sleep during the day.

Such a wonderful location, superb staff and very comfortable room. We were worried about the air conditioning, however it was exceptional and we were so thankful for the relief from the heat. William and everyone else made our stay perfect! We will be back!!

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The entire staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and always ready to help. A special thank you to the lady in the restaurant, who was exceptionally warm and attentive — we truly appreciated her kindness. The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed every meal. A great bonus was that the hotel provides two beach loungers and towels, which made our beach days even more relaxing. The location is perfect — right in the heart of , with everything close by. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable — we would gladly come back!

Sehr schönes ,altes Hotel mit tollem Flair . Top Klimaanlage, sehr leise und gut regelbar. Sehr sauber alles. Lage direkt am ocean Drive. Personal sehr Serviceorientiert . Sehr gutes Restaurant wenn auch wie alles in Miami nicht gerade günstig ist. Zimmer trotz zentraler Lage sehr ruhig .gute Betten

Zimmer sind eher klein und zweckmäßig ausgestattet ohne Möglichkeit viel abzulegen. Da aber viele Gäste ohnehin nur 1-3 Tage bleiben ist mehr wohl auch nicht nötig. In der resortfee sind die Strandliegen enthalten aber der Schirm muss immer noch mit 20 Dollar extra bezahlt werden.

The location is supreme and the architecture of the hotel is truly unique. Food prices are competitive with the surrounding hotels/cafes. It looks outdated at first, but it’s the old character of the hotel.

No do not disturb decals at door handle, housekeeping will knock and wake you up unnecessarily. Shower water pressure needs improvement.

Sehr schönes Hotel, das Geschichte lebt. Wunderschöne Lobby! Die Klimaanlage hat nicht funktioniert (es war zu kalt). Nach unserem Hinweis beim wirklich sehr freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption wurde uns ein Heizlüfter ins Zimmer gestellt.
