The room, number 302, we booked was a junior suite and was not like the images used when booking, it was an attic room with tiny shower and no bathroom mirror. We complained and were moved without fuss to a suitable room, number 202.

My German husband suffered an RTA on him motorbike and needed to stay in the area while he could be evacuated home. He was in shock and injured and needed special attention. The staff of the hotel were exceptional in their care of him, he was very much refreshed by the time he travelled home. We thank them very much for their attention to his needs.

There is no lounge area other than the bar. The rooms are very small, with very little storage. The quality of the breakfast was below par for this type of hotel.

The staff were all lovely and friendly and could not be more helpful. The rooms were nicely decorated and had everything needed for a lovely stay.

The only downside was the pool was very shallow at both ends making swimming lengths a little challenging.

Golfers very very noisey even asking night porter to ask.for noise to be truned down a little at 12.45 am. I was informed that they could not tll someone to be quiet. So I had to do so myself. Very disturbing for us.

Tad lumpy porridge!! Maybe better to consider a smaller size portion in restaurant for older guests. Could only manage half of my fish and chips, which was delicious but a waste what I had to leave.

The junior suite for myself and my two small grandsons was exceptional and the view from all three windows over Royal Troon golf course and Club house stunning. The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant staff exceptionally helpful and welcoming. Every member of staff we met from our arrival to our departure were friendly and most helpful.

There was nothing I didn’t like. A great overnight stay. Just sorry our stay wasn’t longer. Will definitely return.

The communal areas have beautiful interiors and are very comfortable. The staff are very friendly and the service in general was very good and attentive. The breakfast was really excellent with both continental and a number of cooked breakfasts on offer. We opted for a king bed and this was very comfortable. It was great to have a Smart TV in the room. The location is beautiful and although we are not golfers, we enjoyed the surroundings. The spa facilities were nice. We would absolutely return.

The bathroom in our room was a little tired but it didn’t feel like enough to ask to be moved - a cracked tile and the bathroom needing to be resealed. We booked relatively last minute so did pay quite a high room rate otherwise I might not have minded so much. Other guests in the spa were watching videos on full volume so I do wish that the no phones in the spa was enforced by the staff as this made me uncomfortable.

I came on Friday night with my daughter for an overnight. From the moment we even arrived at reception until we left, the service was top tier. The lady at reception was friendly and so kind to my daughter and even the gentleman on night shift was so helpful when we needed him. The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the food in the restaurant was great - especially the choice at breakfast in to morning too! Will be back next month for another wee visit!

Location and style

Our room 44 was probably the worst room in the entire hotel. Stuck at the end of a corridor, narrow small bathroom, with no walk in shower. Window in the bathroom would not close fully and with high winds we listened to a noisy draft blowing all night. My wife ordered breakfast with scrambled eggs and was served poached eggs instead after a wait of 20 minutes. She also ordered gluten free bread which did not arrive. Overall breakfast was badly managed.

The location

The rooms were what you’d expect from a mid range hotel, we had plumbing issues and the wallpaper was peeling ! Breakfast needs upgraded, sometimes it was cold and the poached eggs were more like hard boiled eggs. Food and drink overpriced.

Rooms are too small and I can't rate it as a 5 star hotel.. It could have been better. The price is too high for such a small room. There was no space in the room to pack our suitcases..

Our room was quite old, the bathroom door was hard to close, when the taps were used to water tank remained noisy for a few minutes after, the tv didn’t work well, it was minor but a little annoying.

Just had a lovely overnight at the Marine Hotel. .The staff throughout the hotel were great and very good at their job. We were given an upgrade to the Tom Watson Suite which was fantastic and so comfortable. Breakfast was really good with a nice range of hot and cold dishes. Dinner in The Rabbit was without fault as was the service. We really hope one day to return and soak up the atmosphere.

I liked the location and staff. The food was unreal was well.

There was a gap in the window which whistled through the night. The beds and pillows were so uncomfortable my back was in pain. I wasn’t a fan of the spa, it just seemed liked a basic swimming pool.

Having written two damning reviews recently it is nice to applaud a really special hotel. Excellent views, great service and delightful food. As previously reported my wife has dietary issues this is hotel where nothing is too much trouble. We were told we will cook you anything you require. A very special place and I recommend without hesitation.

Right on the golf course so lovely views and walls, hotel decor is beautiful, room was spacious, staff were helpful and friendly, quiet place to stay for a night away!

Room was warm due to the weather and windows only opened so far, staff were helpful and friendly but sometimes took a while to get their attention. Food was good but have had better for the same price.

The property was beautiful and an enjoyable space to be in. I loved the restaurant and bar areas. The bedroom was fantastic. We had a fabulous stay and I can’t wait to return. The staff were exceptional. Especially Lynn, who was very helpful by text message to a couple of my enquires before we checked in, and at the check in desk. The pool and leisure facilities were super as well.

Rooms were incredibly small. The rooms are clean and well organized as one would expect but it wasnt comfortable because how little space there was in the room. Accompanying bathroom was also very small, sink tiny, barely any space for anything.

What a very beautiful hotel me and my girlfriend went for some cocktails and sat in the main bar the drinks we had were fantastic and the staff were very enthusiastic engaging and professional our view overlooking the beautiful golf courses we had other plans regarding food but from what we could see it looked very good thank you for a very memorable lovely afternoon

Bar food ok, syeak frites tough, rooms too hot in heat wave, room 212, advertised unlimited access to pool and spa facilities, but found out this did not apply to u18. No bath robes and slippers either. Not 5 star in a hot summer day.

Our room had an excellent view, but being on the top floor it was quite a small room, plus it had lowered head height space, which meant I had to crawl from the foot of the bed to get in, or I'd have cracked my head open!!! Pool was lovely, and so was the jacuzzi. Nice seating area out the front of the hotel so you could enjoy a drink while watching the sun set.

Our room was clean and tidy. All the staff were very polite and helpful. They also treated us to drinks when they heard it was our anniversary. The burger we had for dinner was truly amazing. Breakfast was also very good. I recommend it to everyone. I'm thinking of going again.

Our room was very far back. Also, I was a bit cold because the heater was turned off at night. Maybe it was a mistake, I don't know, but the heater was turned back on in the morning.

Room 201 was a bit cramped for 2 but had everything we needed for an overnight stay. Restaurant very expensive but we ate in the bar. Food/service great. Wine very expensive.

Property very nice only problem we had was the room was disappointing Very small and bed we had the room changed no problem the housekeeper manager Rosie was very helpful and understanding and a great help very pleasant lovely girl The breakfast on the first morning was cold and overcooked my husband had full Scottish very disappointed

I visited Marine Troon for 2 days for a solo trip. I loved every moment of my stay. I knew I’d have a nice stay and be able to enjoy the pool and beach area. What I didn’t expect was just how relaxed and calm I felt. Each and every employee is kkkd, welcoming and offers served with ease and grace. You feel at home at Marine Troon and part of a family. I would recommend a solo stay for anyone wishing to recharge. Of course Troon is home to golf and I loved sitting on the terrace and watching the golfers play the course. I must also mention the food and drinks which I enjoyed too. I ate in both the bar and the rabbit. I would love to return one day and will recommend to all I meet who are looking for a luxurious stay with ease, grace. Thank you xx

We have stayed a number of times at The Marine and it is always an excellent experience. Very comfortable, food wonderful and excellent staff.

Think the furniture in the rooms probably needs a bit of updating but not a big issue.

Location was beautiful even in the rain. Staff were warm and welcoming and couldn’t do enough.

Staff and service level was exemplary. Staff members were courteous, efficient and attentive; perhaps the best I've experienced in 20 years of hotel stays. Lounge bar beautifully decorated and lovely to relax in. Ordered bar food on two separate occasions and was not disappointed. Quality and selection at breakfast were, as you would now expect, five star.

Sea view room beautifully appointed but a little cramped with access to the shower/toilet room at one side of the bed.

Breakfast was really nice and the choice was varied and mixed. I had the Salmon one morning and the portion size was incredible. If I could make one small criticism, for me a Scottish breakfast should always have a square sausage instead of a link sausage and black pudding, nevertheless the Scottish breakfast was delicious.

Maybe the layout of the bathroom in room 25.it felt a wee bit tight on space, possibly because the door opened onto the lavatory and sink was right behind the door.

The service was excellent. The room was comfortable and all the facilities I needed. Eg. Fan, iron, hairdryer, and fridge. I also appreciated the snacks of which there were plenty.

There was no air-conditioning, but I opened the window, and there was a fan, so I managed to cool down. I also would have appreciated a shower cap.

Curtis the sommelier and Gary the head barman were a credit to the establishment - so friendly, welcoming and professional. Wine and cocktail lists excellent. Refurb has really dialled up the rooms and public areas:

Fantastic hotel with the most helpful staff. Wonderful breakfast.

We stayed here on our last night on a 12 day trip to Scotland. Upon arrival , we found the staff to be super helpful and kind. The spa/pool facilities are lovely with beautiful views of the gold course and the sea from the spa. We found the bar to be particularly lovely with a wonderful selection of whiskies, and a lovely relaxing ambience . I can't comment on the restaurant as we went to nearby troon village (only about 4 mins drive ) for dinner but the breakfast service was lovely with beautiful views and a wide selection of breakfast options

Our only disappointment was the size of the room . We had a deluxe sea view room and it was probably the smallest room we've ever stayed in. The bathroom is very tight and can not hold two people, the bed is a queen at best and the small table is not big enough to house both the TV and tea making facilities .

A lovely seaside location. Excellent service in both the bar and restaurant with knowledgeable staff, particularly around Whisky and wine options. Rooms are a little tired but very clean. Showers in the bathroom need a rethink as shower screen doesn’t stop water leaking out onto the bathroom floor. Would recommend staying, whether golf is your thing or not.

Disappointing considering the high cost of the three day stay. Notably poor choice at breakfast (only 1 cereal, two breads, one cheese and some sliced ham.) and very limited dining menu. Room was very small and overlooked the air conditioning and kitchen ventilation which was also very noisy all night,

Staff were friendly attentive and nothing was a problem. Meals were excellent from breakfast to dinner .spa was great really enjoyed it

The bed was a bit hard no good for a bad back .No handrail in the shower .The tv was large but took up the only space in the room could not put tea tray on top so would have to boil kettle and make tea on the floor. A mirror on top of draws would help the lady's for makeup .A shelf also in the bathroom would let you have your toiletries put out rather than kept in a bag .The telly on the wall would free up a lot of space .Only minor problems but should not take anything away from really good hotel and special staff will definitely go back again .

Pool was amazing, dessert drinks and breakfast all so good and tasty, room so nice comfy bed and very clean good size bathroom. Views are outstanding from outside hotel and Troon beach and toon really nice along the road

Die Lounge war gemütlich und ansprechend eingerichtet, die Bedienung dort flott und freundlich, das Essen schmackhaft. Auch waren wir froh über den Aufzug, zumal unsere Zimmer im 3. Stock lagen. Für Golfspieler, die in wenigen Tagen einige anspruchsvolle Golfplätze spielen wollen, eine sehr gute Ausgangslage - vorausgesetzt, man verfügt über ein gutes Handicap, das nötige Kleingeld und hat das Glück, an einem der für Besucher buchbaren Tage noch eine Tee-Time zu ergattern. Unser Hund hat sich jedenfalls wohl gefühlt - an den Randzeiten konnte er sich ohne Leine herrlich austoben.

Die Einrichtung der sog. "Junior Suite" war für ein 5-Sterne-Haus in vielen Punkten unbefriedigend. Kein Spiegel über dem Waschbecken, keine Sitzmöglichkeit bzw. Abstellflächen im Bad, eine spartanische Dusche, eine winzige, in eine Zimmerecke gequetschte separate Toilette ohne eigenes Waschbecken. Kleine Fenster, der schöne Blick über Golfplatz und Meer durch Vorhänge verborgen, das Mobiliar schäbig, der Zimmerschrank lächerlich klein. Die Fotos, die auf der Webpage zu dieser Zimmerkategorie zu sehen sind, entsprechen nicht unbedingt den Tatsachen. Das Essen im Hauptrestaurant war in Ordnung, aber qualitativ nicht wirklich hochwertig: Angebrannter Toast, zu dick geschnittener Lachs.

Having to order drinks at the bar before finding a table, with card facilities you should have been able to sit at the outside tables once they became free and have someone come and take your order. I couldn’t keep the outside table due to this.

Heel mooie kamer, speciale bedjes voorzien voor de hondjes. Prachtig uitzicht, locatie fantastisch, vlakbij een zandstrand. Heel vriendelijk personeel, super behulpzaam, doen er alles aan om het verblijf zo aangenaam mogelijk te maken.

Jammer dat de hondjes niet mee in het restaurant mogen, enkel in de bar. Maar ze zorgen ervoor dat je alles ook in de bar kan nemen, ook het ontbijt.

Spa/lunch deal Menu choice wasn’t great And when we went for our spa treatments there was a mixup with the booking. We never received our full treatments time and when we were over were told we had a var bill to pay by two different members of stffff even though over calls and previous arrangements were told it aspuld all be paid in spa area. Great location looking over the royal troon golf course to the beach, genuine Scottish hospitality and service, good food for dinner & breakfast. Staff were so helpful.

Weather could have been better 😁 but it's only April.

Haven't been here for ages so we decided to treat ourselves to a spa treatment. I had the hot stones and my husband had the foot massage both of which were amazing. We also had a late light lunch the food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be returning hopefully for an overnight stay the next time

Visited the Marine today for Sunday lunch. Amazing the food and service was 5 star. 100% recommends I have been to the marine a few times and it never disappoints.
