Genuinely friendly, welcoming staff. This hotel is comfortable and clean. Rooms could do with a refresh/refurb. That said everything worked as it should and was spotless so no great issue. It’s in a great location. The food and hospitality were both excellent and great value. We had a lovely stay.

Overall we loved our stay. Yes there are areas that could do with refurbishing, but not so much as to negatively impact our stay, they just add to the charm of a well run and welcoming hotel.

Very much enjoyed our stay and found staff very friendly and helpful. Food was excellent and good choices. Bed was very comfortable and whilst pleased with room could tell it was a bit dated especially the ensuite which did require updating. Having said that we understand the hotel has been sold and will be totally refurbished. Do hope they keep some of the original features though.

We didn’t get the double bed we requested, and didn’t like the single beds. Also, the cooked breakfast.

The only thing was on the morning of leaving it was very busy we were put in the conservatory and I felt we were forgotten had to find a staff member to serve us

It's an old hotel that has just recently been bought out so I expect nothing is going to change until it closes and has a complete refurb. If you want to be transported into the 1970's world of Open Golf, drinks in a big wooden bar, old wooden banisters, then this is your place. It'd make a fabulous film set. It'll be sad to have Buzzworks the new owners change it out of all recognition. The South Beach is an institution, it has a fantastic location and the staff are delightful. The breakfast was actually better than a similar expensive one at Buzzworks Lido Cafe. At least the poached eggs were soft. However ... The beds were appalling.

Breakfast was not the best, the smallest home made potato scone l have ever seen in a Scottish hotel, and a bit disorganised. Beds were clean and comfortable but the furnishings and decor need more attention to detail. Seemed a bit understaffed.

The staff were very friendly when we arrived and showed us around the facilites as it was our first time staying there. Had a lovely view of the coast from our room. Beautiful beer garden to sit enjoying a drink on a rare sunny day in Scotland! Breakfast was fantastic. Full Scottish with best scrambled egg ever.

We booked an overnight at this hotel for a reasonable price which included breakfast. On arrival staff were very friendly and showed us around as we hadn't visited before. Had a drink in the lovely beer garden. We were offered the chance to book an evening meal. We already had plans but the food we saw being served looked lovely. Breakfast was fantastic. Continental available and choice of hot food. We had full Scottish and scrambled egg I had with mine was best I'd ever tasted. Hotel and rooms would benefit from a bit of updating but was comfortable enough for an overnight stay.

My dog and I stayed for one night here at this super Hotel. Service was great ,the food is divine ,our sea view room was cosy,clean and very comfortable. South Beach Hotel has true Scottish charm and atmosphere. The team looked after us brilliantly. I will defenately return and highly recommend this gem of a place 😊🐾

It was a nice big space . Bright and clean.

It is a well run traditional Troon hotel with super sea views and super staff . The food is superb and cooked beautifully Alll produce is sourced locally within a 12 mile radius of the hotel. . Troon cod with scallops ,spiced sweet potatoe puree and asparagus .was cooked to perfection and the pudding was divine a custard tart so refreshing and subtle . Breakfast was lush too. Wine was excellent. Very dog friendly! Great dog walking right opposite. Comfortable and clean room with a heavenly sea view. The bar area has a true Scottish vibe ,buzzing with conversation across generations of folk. Absolute delight ! Willl defenately visit again. Regards Sam Christian .

We were offered a room on the ground floor which had a separate but connected room with a third bed which was particularly useful for my son and I

For us it was perfect, even as far as dealing with us after we had left, I thought I had left somthing unimportant to anyone but my self, it was almost a week after and I phoned to ask if by chance I had left it, the girl took my number and said she would look into it, half an hr later she had phoned me back after speaking to the housekeeper, I was impressed 😊( I eventually found the item under my nose) staff that go just that little bit extra and with a happy voice means a lot to guests.

Quite run down, room carpets are dirty, rooms very warm with winter style duvets still on the bed. In need of decorating. Beds old and creaky.

The staff was very friendly. The guests were not loud. The food at the bar was nice, especially the day soup-delicious. The breakfast was nice. They served is early coffee.

The window were mouldy, looked like the frames was not cleaned for years. When you open the window the smell from mould got inside the room

Hotel is in a good location with plenty of parking, rooms are a good size and the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful.

Hotel is a little dated, doesn’t need much, a lick of paint and some modernisation would really lift the place. Cleaning could do with a bit of an overhaul too but bed and bathroom were clean

Excellent sea view and top of the range breakfast. We also had an evening meal which was very nice and great value. Very dog friendly as well

On Mothers Day i treated my mum and also took my dog for a overnight to The Southbeach hotel in Troon. We had a fab time. and had a lovely Seaview room Which had a double and single bed which were very comfy. The hotel is nice and is spotless and the breakfast was good And the staff are very friendly and helpful and totally fussed over my dog We will certainly be back And i highly reccomend the hotel

Tolle Lage 5 min vom Strand, Zimmer mit Zugang zum Garten war super, da wir mit Hund unterwegs waren. Abendessen in der Lounge sehr gut. Der Haddock war wunderbar . Alle im Hotel sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Gute Lage zur Fähre nach Arran. Für uns eine sehr gute Wahl!

The weather was beautiful & we had the option to eat outside.but the garden furniture was basically picnic tables.

Very dated hotel. Room was tired, with old furniture, cracks on the walls, mould in the bathroom. Windows broken and didn’t close properly, therefore draughty. Outer bedcover dirty including numerous hairs. Awful shower that repeatedly went from scalding hot to freezing cold.

Where do i start. Check in fine, staff member pleasant, went to my room to be met with an awful smell and on looking outside the window which was open there are extractors presumably from the kitchen. Went out to a family wedding, but had stayed here due to other hotel being full. Returned about 11pm, collected key and when starting to walk to stairs was told mind your feet as i had to step over vomit on the carpet. Came back down to bar for a drink, barman, possibly night porter was blowing threw the beer tap nozzles then pouring a pint which i thought disgusting! On way back to room vomit was still there which was an hour later with some blue roll over it. Breakfast seemed pretty decent the next morning until i found a hair, (not mine). Wouldn't return here if it was free!

Needed a new shower

Stayed here for one night while attending a family wedding at another local hotel which had no rooms left. Checked I.and headed to room to be met with an awful smell, presumably due to extractors from kitchen being outside window. Went out and returned about 11pm to be met with a staff member saying watch your feet as I had to step over vomit on route to my room. This was still there an hour later covered partly with blue roll. Then headed to the bar for a beer to watch the barman, possibly night porter blowing through the beer nossle then ports pint, disgusting! Breakfast the next morning seemed pretty decent until a found a hair while eating toast, (not mine) Received a 10% discount code after checking out but wouldn’t stay here again if it was free. Awful experience

Room was lovely and very spacious with great views. If I had to mention anything it would be that it was slightly tired. It could do with some touch ups but to be honest it didn't affect out stay, we had a great night and the beds were very comfortable.

Breakfast could have been a bit nicer. Service was really good but the eggs and sausages were not the best, Selection of fruit and cereal had almost gone by the time we got there at 8:30am. Mugs were stained and generally, again, just a bit tired looking.

We booked 9 rooms at the South Beach Hotel for a family gathering. The hotel was very welcoming and looked after us all very well. We ranged from 8 months to 98 years old. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great and accommodated our requests. The main areas were busy, however provided opportunities for our family to meet and chat. The rooms are tired and understand they will be updated soon, they do need it. It was good value for Troon.

Hotel was fine, staff were great and lovely breakfast. Unfortunately, the wi-fi did not operate in my bedroom, which was really disappointing. Apparently, the poor wi-fi is well known issue (although M tried to blame the weather 😉😂). Maybe a minor investment in wi-fi extenders to the furthest rooms may be a cheap solution?

Cracking breakfast, and one of the best black puddings I have tasted. Minutes from train station.

Our room was the main disappointment. Not very warm. Neither windows would close properly, with one closed by means of a wedged piece of cardboard jammed in the handle and masking tape along the frame.

There are not many options in this part of Scotland and had to stay where there was room. The hotel is golf themed (of course) and was a bit tired and dated and in need of a wholesale refurb. However - my room was great and very spacious and warm!

It was a bit dated and tired (as stated previously), but I enjoyed my overnight stay. Its a bit of a walk into the town centre and if you are not good on your feet it might be a walk too far.

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel - nice clean rooms, excellent location and really good breakfast. I would like to stay at this hotel again.
