On walking in and heading to reception we were greeted very politely and check in was very quick, the room was very nice a bit dated but very clean, the bathroom was a shower over the bath, really good shower quite powerful, very clean, we used the pub that belongs to the hotel and it was what i call a proper pub a bit old fashioned, the staff were lovely in there too, i would definitely stay here again its in a very good location for the motorpoint arena its jyst over a 5 minute walk
No negatives
Great location for the arena and lots of good eating and drinking establishments nearby
Our room had a small window which did not open .. room 6 .. that was my only negative as it felt a bit dark, other than that a great hotel and I would probably ask for a different room the next time
Spacious
Windows and carpet are dirty and old
Room was comfy, clean and really easy check in and check out process. Everything explained well, couldn’t fault it
If we had to be really picky it was the smell of the body wash in the shower.
Location
Run down. Paint chipped. Rooms small. Disappointing
Location was good, and the room was spacious
The furniture was very old, the room was too warm and quite close to bars so a little noise
Location - great very central - ideal Pre arrival process - excellent and accommodated all requests Room - clean Breakfast - good
Hotel - a little tired and shabby in parts, needs bringing up to date
Staff in the hotel and adjoining pub were excellent. So friendly, welcoming, helpful and ensured we had a wonderful stay. Thanks to all staff, particularly to Charlie, the bar manager. Oh, and the breakfast was also very good - really surprised with the quality, choice, catering for dietary preferences, and overall value for money. Thank you!
Excellent location
Nothing
A very nice room and adjoining pub. The staff were very pleasant. Excellent location.
Nothing comes to mind
The Location was good in the centre of town
We was there for a special birthday that I had notified them ahead of time but there was not mention of happy birthday when we arrived or any card or special.touch in the room. Our room had 2 holes in the ceiling that were leaking and damp stains all along the ceiling. Very dark room. In the hallway it smelt of sewage. The WiFi was very poor and the TV had netflix etc but we were unable to use it cause it wasn't connected to WiFi. I would not recommend this hotel it was very tired inside and very dirty in reception. I did complain at the end of our stay and they did offer a discount and they acknowledge the condition of the room and apologised.
Lovely stay.
Kettle cannot be filled at all from sink in bathroom but no biggy really. No air con so room was very warm but desk fan provided
Perfect location and area to stay. It's a boutique hotel. Kelsey, the receptionist, was very nice and very kindly allowed me to change to a cooler room, which helped !
Although the building is very old, many of the windows are closed for security reasons. The first room that I stayed in was located on the 3rd floor and had a portable air conditioner, which was great. I had to turn it off when I went to bed. I woke up and couldn't breathe from the intense heat that had built up during the night. It was quickly resolved by speaking to Kelsey the next morning.
Great location. Close enough to walk to the centre, far enough away to not have the noise issues of a busy city centre night. We stayed in one of the cosy rooms, which was still a good size for 2 people. The bed and pillows were amazing. Lace Market Car Park is only a few minutes walk away
The room was a little bit tired and could do with some TLC
Facilities, staff and room were great.
Being on the street with a lot of noise and people shouting all night drunk from the bars
Great location.
It’s quite tired and in need of a bit of a refresh & refurb. Even smells a bit old & musty.
Very clean and comfortable
Only negative is you advertise discount for guest at the local restaurant but twice when I went into the restaurant they said they stopped serving at 4 pm. That is very, very strange.
Great location. Great breakfast. Character hotel. Kind, helpful, friendly (all) staff.
The air conditioning wasn’t working and not fixable. Told that it hadn’t been working for a while. But property was advertised as having a/c.
When booking the property online, the rooms looked fantastic and elegant with loads of character. Unfortunately the room I was given was nothing like the images shown online and instead was very plain with no character at all.
Really hard to find, the post code online is not the correct post code to find the property using Apple Maps. The room I was given was dull and nothing like the pictures shown online at all. The windows in the room did not close at all, the noise that came from outside all night long kept me awake. The taps on the bathroom for the sink didn’t turn to actually make the tap useable. There were x2 spiders in the bathroom, one on the mirror and one in the bathtub which suggests to me the room was not checked and cleaner before my stay that day.
A very comfortable stay, clean room and lovely staff
The curtains wouldn't fully close. We also did not have breakfast as there was one wait staff on shit alone and he was rushed off his feet so decided to go else where
Was a fab room and fab staff!
Was all good!
Location was perfect. Gorgeous view of the church from bedroom window. Comfy bed, tasty breakfast
Wish there was Aircon as it was a hot day
Posizione molto pratica, in pieno nella città vecchia. Camere molto ampia e carina. Colazione adeguata, dolce e salata.
La camera era al pian terreno e le finestre non si aprivano.
I have no idea how this hotel is #2 out of #39 hotels in Nottingham - what on earth must the others be like??!! We stayed in room 11 and the toilet seat was broken, the temperature of the water in the shower couldn't be adjusted, the tap in the sink was too close to the bowl so you couldn't fill a glass with water. There was a lot of dust in the room and around the building. There were only a few hangers in the wardrobe and no drawers for our underwear so we had to live out of our suitcases for our 3 night stay. The fridge didn't work so and wasn't cold. There was no phone in the room so we couldn't report the bathroom issues when we needed a shower at 10.30pm. Breakfast is a few poor quality items put out in a shambles of a pub next door. Poached eggs set solid, orange squash not juice, dirt and dust everywhere, staff put things away at 9.40am despite being told by reception at check-in that breakfast was until 10am. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I was expecting far better considering we paid for a deluxe double. On a positive note, the bed was comfortable.
Stayed here a few years ago and have to say it’s gone downhill. Lack of an attention to detail and a lot of TLC needed. Breakfast was average at best and host was obnoxious Reception staff on arrival and departure were friendly, and it’s in a quiet location that is close to all the local amenities. It’s a real shame as we thoroughly enjoyed our previous visit, hence why we returned.
Good location and within short distance of many restaurants, shops and bars. Quiet and very little outside noise. Reception staff were friendly on arrival and departure and allowed us to leave our suitcase in reception so we didn't have to carry it around Nottingham while sightseeing. Good desk fan.
So disappointed as we stayed he a few years ago and had a wonderful time and were really looking forward to returning. I found the breakfast host to be a little rude and sarcastic to both myself and my partner. At 8:30 in the morning I don’t need poorly sung renditions off the radio while I’m eating my breakfast. Poached eggs were cold, hash browns hard and greasy however I was that hungry I ate my breakfast very quickly. Apple juice wasn’t fresh and tasted like watered down cordial. Booked the cozy room but was smaller than expected, cramped shower, and you had to turn it off to apply shower gel then turn it back on and no space to put your toiletries.. Not suitable for a couple but okay if travelling alone. grubby carpets. Poor view and not much natural light. Air con frustrating so resorted to desk fan. Small things like having to turn the television off by the plug as remote didn’t work was annoying as I had to get in and out off bed Cleaning products left in lift and tape covering something in lift. The whole place could use a facelift and some attention to detail. Unfortunately for the price I won’t be staying here again as the negatives out way the positives. Real shame
The beds were unbelievably comfortable!!
Nice looking room in a great location.
Few cobwebs here and there and the room could do with a lick of paint to brighten it up.
Not sure.
So small, very noisy due to elevator right outside room, no desk.
The Hideout is a lovely room, tucked away for a quiet, intimate escape. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The location is perfect.

Nothing
Too much to tell you everything. Too too hot in room heater on full blast & couldn’t switch off. No help from staff. The fridge couldn’t close. Broken door. Dressing table glass cracked. Other table bad rings on wood. Chipped off strip. Stains on carpet. No help from staff. The 3 other rooms I paid for had similar issues. Curtain fell down. 3 times locked out of room. Etc etc
Had an afternoon tea the food made my cristina was amazing and Carl was a brilliant waiter looked after us well would highly recommend booking
The staff were lovely and very helpful, but I would not rate this hotel as 4 star at all. We had problems with our first room and were moved to a new room (again, the staff were great), but the new room also wasn't great. It was ground floor, and right on the street, we couldn't have the curtains open at all as the window goes right onto the pavement - this included the window in the bathroom, being right by the pavement and right next to the toilet, which seems an odd choice. The hotel was just fine, but I expected a lot more for the price we paid and the way it was advertised before booking. I've stayed in lots of hotels in Nottingham, and this was my worst experience so far.
When you book a not-inexpensive Superior Suite at a hotel, it would not be unreasonable to expect a fair degree of luxury and quality, especially when our stay was to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Having checked in to The Lace Market Hotel in Nottingham some four weeks ago and opened the door to our ‘suite’ we found quite the opposite; just a decidedly standard bedroom that could not, in any way whatsoever, be described as a suite. It would struggle to draw comparison with a very basic 2-star establishment. The room had long since seen better days with flaking paintwork, dirty net curtains that trailed the floor, numerous pieces of putty that had fallen from the windows and scattered over the bathroom floor, antiquated air conditioning that was not only extremely noisy but also broke down (temperatures were in excess of 30° during our stay), the bedroom windows could not be opened, and the bathroom window could only be opened with the support of a toilet roll, there was neither drawer space nor a safe in the room, the bedside tables were pitifully small and the dressing table position was in the passageway between the bedroom and bathroom and could not be termed as a dressing table at all. We complained to Reception upon first seeing the room but were told that there was no alternative available. By any measure, the hotel promoted the accommodation under false pretences; its description abysmally inaccurate. That room should never have been in use in the first instance. Naturally, once back at home, we complained to the General Manager, initially by post, followed up by email. Regrettably, not only has no apology been forthcoming, we have not even had the courtesy of an acknowledgement of our complaint. If you are planning to stay in Nottingham, my very strong advice would be to avoid The Lace Market Hotel at all costs; we shall certainly not be returning.
Hotel was conveniently located. The 3 rooms I had booked were near each other (as requested). Was clean. Bed was comfortable. Freshened daily. I had booked "cosy" rooms and whilst they weren't large they were plenty big enough for what we needed. The excellent deal with the Stoney Street NCP - I just wish this was explained in advance of the stay (see below).
1. One of the rooms was soooo hot I could barely sleep, there was a small air-conditioning unit in the hottest room but (i) it was extremely noisy, and (ii) it turned itself off after every 40mins so I had to keep getting up during the night to turn it back on again. 2. The wifi did not work in one of the rooms so I felt disconnected from the rest of the party. 3. The website suggested the Lace Market Car Park which has very bad reviews so I parked some way away, only to discover the hotel has an excellent deal with Stoney Street Car Park - I wish I had known this before I stayed.
Great location and great staff
Air conditioning not working, room was tiny, could have got better elsewhere for less money
The location
We were in the Hide Out. I expected it to be bigger and whilst quiet there was a member of staff having a break early in the morning sitting outside our window.
We refused to stay as the room was dirty and smelt of smoke. The receptionist excepted this and said there would be no charge.

Dirty and smelly
A well-equipped, comfortable hotel with a very good breakfast.
Good afternoon, yesterday Saturday 11th July , myself and a friend stopped in room 38. While I understood that you have no control over the weather the room was unbelievably hot. We did not dare to try to open the window any further due to being worried that we could hurt ourselves on a window that was clearly falling apart and dangerous to touch. The ceiling fan did not work. There was a small electric fan that made no difference to the temperature. We went to reception and asked to change rooms. The gentleman on reception couldn’t have been more polite or helpful but unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. He tried to find us another fan , the only one he could find was an electric heater fan. He did give us a few bottles of water which we were very grateful for. Going back to the room we noticed that the hallway was much cooler than our actual room, so we propped the door open hoping this would allow some heat to escape. The gentleman in room 39 walked past and offered us the fan from his room because it was much cooler in there. The bed was lovely and comfortable but never have I had such an unpleasant experience, neither of us really slept. So we both got up much earlier than planned, had much needed cool showers and left. After such a lovely afternoon celebrating our upcoming birthdays we both left feeling rather disappointed and very tired This is the email I sent the lace market hotel the day after my stay. It’s now the 23rd July, to date the hotel have never sent a response!
Good location
2 night stay - Booked a cosy room, however the Aircon did not.work, staff said they would get maintenance to fix it but that did not happen. The mattress and.pillows not comfortable For the rates charged this room type is.poor.quality.
Central
No windows 🪟 a bit stuffy
Location was perfect right in the heart of Lace Market, next to a tram stop and close to the train station. Room was comfortable, large, well appointed and most importantly when in the middle of a street of bars - quiet! Would absolutely stay here again if ever in Nottingham.
Lift is up a set of stairs so with big bags is quite tricky to manoeuvre
Great room, very comfortable and clean
Lift was not working, but did not cause too much of an issue
Another stay in the Courtyard Room and this time it was a little disappointing. It was a very warm day and even though the room is on the ground floor with no direct sunlight it would have benefited from air-con. A fan was provided but it was really noisy. The gate that leads to the Hideout Room from the courtyard is still not locked (I guess it is a fire escape for both rooms) and this made it feel less secure to leave the windows open. The wall where the gate latch is meant to keep the gate shut, is now really worn away so if the wind gets up the gate just swings open. Again, this private courtyard isn’t really private at all. The furniture in the courtyard was dirty and covered in crumbs so hadn't been cleaned. The latch from the room to the courtyard also seems less secure now, the fitting is wearing away. The rooms itself was clean but is starting to look a little tired now. Certainly doesn’t seem as luxurious as it used too and could definitely do with some maintenance and the security and privacy upped. The remote control for the TV was filthy. On the plus side the room is quiet, the bed is comfy and the shower works well.
Good value for money , ideal location for where I needed to be
After a long day for work I booked in around 6-630 pm , I freshened up for tea , I asked how I ordered food , staff told me the kitchen was closed , it was 7pm on a Saturday nite , I had to find a take away couldn’t get food elsewhere
The location was fabulous The breakfast was amazing 👏 The staff were all friendly and helpful. Carl the manager we saw at breakfast was so friendly and chatty,we were there for 2 nights in the heatwave heat and we asked for a second fan and it was accomadated so we had 2
In our room the showers dipped constantly, took one head off the wall to lay it down in tray but it was still noisy and hear it constantly
The breakfast at the pub joining the hotel was very good, one of the best choices we have had. The room was clean . Location was good.
The outside area by the entrance was really dirty . I hate a fixed shower head.
The breakfast selection was very good.
The lift was broken, so I had to carry my suitcase down two flights of stairs. The room had very thin walls, and I could hear people coughing in neighbouring rooms. The floorboards were extremely creaky, and the room was uncomfortably hot. I was unable to open the windows, which made the situation worse. Although there was a floor fan and a fan above the bed, the room remained too hot, and I ended up sleeping on top of the bedcovers for all four nights of my stay.
Its location in the centre and its ‘old English’ and pub style. It also had air conditioning, very useful in the Summer.
The towel rack in the bathroom could not be switched off. The bathroom was too hot as a result. The res
Friendly convenient and comfortable
Shower wasn’t properly clean - some hairs in the bath
Excellent location. Lovely room. Very friendly and helpful staff.
No parking.
No air conditioning
Room very warm
Close to the city but far enough away to hear any noise from the city. Also loved the cock and hoop bar
The shower in my room was a fixed head and unable to lower it . Being 5ft 6 I would of liked a shower head where you could adjusted The height of the shower head.
The overall first impression of the hotel is nice and great location to be central to the city centre, it was surprisingly quiet considering how close we were to bars etc.
The decor was very dated, unfinished painting in the bedroom, it felt like it has been left in 2001 and not touched - the drinks in the mini bar were a year out of date and labels crumbling off. It feels so forgotten - considering it is a renowned Nottingham hotel, it needs closing down and giving a serious makeover. There were Maltesers left in the lift in the morning (presumably for the mini bar), melting in the heat. The air con unit was ugly and noisy and barely worked. We were a little late checking out, and the receptionist made us feel like we had trashed the room and was very rude about it even though we apologised. Don't be fooled by the photos online, it doesn't look or feel anything like a luxury hotel, and for certain not worthy of 4*, I would declass it to a 2* hotel until they invest in it. Disgrace.
Very convenient location
Nothing
Comfortable bed, everything was spotless, friendly staff. Would definitely come back!
The room could get a bit stuffy despite A/C. But absolutely understandable with 35 celsius outside :)
What a fabulous afternoon I had at the Cock & Hoop, celebrating an important birthday with friends. We'd come together for Afternoon Tea and had advised the hotel reception that we had a couple of vegetarians amongst us so could that please be factored in. Always in the brace position incase that message hadn't been passed on, we were met by Carl who was absolutely on top of everything. Not only did he know but the amazing Cristina in the kitchen had gone to town, freshly baking treats for us all that were delicious. Whether it was keeping the temperature in the room down, decorating the table with flowers and sparkles or ensuring nothing was too much trouble, Carl absolutely rocked. Warm, freshly baked sausage and veggie rolls, dainty sandwiches, scones that Cristina explained she'd baked at the last minute to keep them as fresh as possible, squares of light as a feather Victoria sponge plus other sweet goodies - we were spoilt. Loved the fact the Cristina came to see us to ask what we thought - what a wonderful touch. Lace Market Hotel/Cock & Hoop - you have 2 superstars here. Value Carl and Cristina - they made our day so special. Thank you both.
I had a very nice 2-night stay at The Lace Market Hotel and can absolutely recommend it. Very central location. Fabulous room. Great breakfast; lots of choice and very friendly, approachable and professional team in all areas of the Hotel. On my last day, I had a gorgeous afternoon tea, designed and lovingly made by Chef Cristina. Excellent value. I can thoroughly recommend this; nice one Cristina!
Location was great. Room was huge. Staff were friendly.
No air conditioning!
Location
Our room was very small with two tiny windows that were at the top of the ceiling, so could not open or see out of them. The portable air conditioning unit was old and very very noisy. The room felt claustrophobic.
Friendly staff
The hotel is very tired but charging as if it is well maintained.
Great location, lovely decor, clean and comfortable.
Location
Hot, stuffy, with an air conditioner that only made noise - no cooling. A fan that didn’t move air but made a racket. Took a charge on our card to cover incidentals but would not let us charge to our room, so for the hotel’s benefit not the customers
Great hotel and very central in City centre .
Lovely old Georgian hotel with charm and character and spacious clean rooms. I did not have a problem with "inconsistent reception staff responsiveness"; on the contrary I was impressed with the warm welcome we received on arrival. Our luggage was stored for us and taken to our room when it became ready. A special mention to Ben who told me some wonderful stories about the hotel, and Carl who looked after us during breakfast.
Immaculate. Really comfortable bed with lots of fans, air conditioning
Location, cleanliness
The staff were very attentive. We felt welcomed and the room was spacious and quiet. The beds were comfy and the shower was very hot and worked well. The room service breakfast was delicious and arrived quickly. This was my first stay but will not be my last.
There isn't anything I would have changed
Comfortable, clean, friendly staff
The room was a little smaller than expected.
Nice bedroom, comfy bed clean bathroom
Nice hotel, great location in a really nice part of Nottingham
Breakfast was disappointing, ran out and not great quality
It was in a good location, the room was well equipped including air con, a ceiling fan and desk fan, which was appreciated in the hot weather. Cold bottled water was also available for free. It was a comfortable bed and our room was quiet. The staff were helping and pleasant.
All was fine
Great location, big rooms, comfortable
Reception very helpful
Dates and tatty, window in room rotting and unsafe. Limited beverages in room. Being charged £40 as cover for mini bar, waiting for refund. Decor dated, attention required Rooms hot with no air conditioning
Property is looking a bit tired
Staff were very helpful - they provided us with toothpaste as we forgot ours, and allowed us to heat up our take away after a night out. Really nice staff, quiet room despite being next to the lift
There was a sign outside the bedroom window that was lit all night - I struggle to sleep with a light on so that made it slightly difficult for me, but that’s a personal thing
Very delicious, fresh afternoon tea ! I really enjoyed it! Good service from the staff and chef Christina … Great scones !
Brilliant front desk staff who dealt very well with my unhappiness with the room. She was excellent. Great location. And nice vibe to the place too. Quirky pub/boutique hotel combination.
Old building means awkward layout. Stairs, to get to the lift (which felt like it was going to conk out at any point), to get to more stairs, to get to my top floor room. That's when things really went downhill. Though they don't advertise the rooms as having air conditioning, it's sort of expected these days (this was the first hotel I can remember staying in that didn't have it in the last few years, and that's a pretty big sample size). What's worse than not having A/C though is having it, but it being out of date and broken. Just a useless lump of grey plastic sticking out of the wall. Doesn't say great things about investment into the property. I still would have got by, even on the hottest day of the year, up on the top floor where it was very warm. They did provide a ceiling fan and an extra plug-in fan as well. But the double false balcony doors were broken and wouldn't stay shut. It looked like the wood had rotted out around the catches. So warm air was blowing in and I couldn't keep noise or insects out. I requested an alternative room and was told that while one was available with doors that shut, and air con, the blind had fallen down in that room so I'd have to go without any way to block the window. While I was at the front desk, another guest came down to say that the air conditioning room was leaking water that was puddling on the floor. It was at this point I decided this wasn't somewhere I wanted to stay and checked out to find another hotel. The hotel management later refunded me 50% of my booking fee, but only after some negotiation.
☹️ We were truly shocked by the dilapidated state of this hotel. The reality was nothing like the photographs - or the description we read on its website - to the point where we feel completely misled and certainly over charged. We attach one photograph to show you the state of the windows and the view we had from our room. And inside, it was no better, with stained bath, sink area, chipped paint work etc. Unbelievable.

Very good location, and the room was a little quirky compared to usual budget type hotels. Price paid very reasonable. Easy check in. The shower was surprisingly powerful.
The room was warm and although a fan and an AC unit was supplied the latter was very noisy (though it did cool the room down!) so could not really be used during sleeping hours. Not a great deal of room for two people to store their toiletries etc though for one night that wasn't really a problem. Sat Nav wasn't a great deal of help with the City Council car park which is two minutes away but once you know, you know!
Nulla
Foto della camera ingannevole. Le stanze sono pessime. Letti con ruote che mentre dormi si spostano nella stanza !! Moquette ounque con pessimi odori. Stanza non arieggiabile. Scale senza ascensore. Posizione pessima. Nessun parcheggio vicino. Collazzone scarsa e di bassissima qualità. Personale distratto e assente. Da dimenticare.
Location and cleanliness
The accommodation was great and perfectly fitted our needs for a couple of nights for a family wedding. The hotel has loads of character and is well situated for reaching the city. The breakfast was excellent, very hearty, and the staff were all friendly and helpful !
Nothing to note.
Lovely large clean room with great facilities including a fridge. Efficient friendly service. Excellent breakfast included all for £87.
Keuze van diverse eigerechten bij ontbijt of full English. Koffie service in de kamer en water.
Raam in mijn kamer kon niet open. Wifi viel vaak weg waarna je opnieuw moest inloggen met de browser
My friends tell me it was good.
Can't answer that.
Great location and the BEST part was ALAN the morning/tea waiter who LOVES his job and it shows! Thank you Alan!!
The worst part is that they put us in a room with MOLD. Kindly moved us but corporate doesn’t reply to our emails. Also DO NOT PARK OUTSIDE TO DROP OFF BAGS UNLESS YOU WANT A £100 PARKING TICKET (we got TWO because nobody mentioned anything to us.)
Stayed here a few times now and it's always been great. Smart, clean hotel with an historic but modern feel. Great staff. Being city centre has no carpark, but a NCP multi storey is literally only a 5 min walk around the corner at lace market Bang on the city centre so everything at your fingertips
