Central location to castle and bars
Recently renovated hotel. Excellent location opposite Nottingham Castle. Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Very clean double aspect room & comfortable bed. Large TV. Excellent shower room. Room was lovely but quite small, ideal for short city break with cabin baggage. Good buffet breakfast. Would stay again.
Sachets of instant coffee at breakfast were a big disappointment for an otherwise good quality hotel We were told this is being addressed, buy should have been a quick easy fix before reopening.
The room I stayed in had been recently renovated. Large spacious bedroom, high tec bathroom. Bed very comfortable.
Absolutely beautiful place. Perfect location. Lovely staff.
Sehr nettes Personal insbesondere den Herrn aus der Frühstücks Raum Ausstattung war gut und funktioniert. Die Dame vom Zimmeraervice nett und rücksichtsvoll. Alles in allem ein super Aufenthalt
Excellent location
The bar in the foyer used to be relaxing and atmospheric. It is now just a long counter that is anextension of the reception desk. They haven't even got a licence yet. So no alcohol for sale at all. It now looks like every other modern hotel chain with no character.
The room was well kept and all the facilities were to a good standard.
Very clean great bathroom felt safe nicely decorated soft pillows hoorah! The reception is beautiful staff welcoming literally round the corner from the castle easy to find cafes and shops
Didn't try food so cant comment
Helpful staff, large room
The cooked breakfast buffet was unappetising. Scrambled eggs congealed no frezhly cooked eggs . Unattractive looking too. Need to improve to match price.
Everything was very clean , staff were lovely and great location
Everything excellent the breakfast wasn’t the best but did the job 10/10
Location and clean
No alcohol served at the bar when we went
Breakfast was very good, and location was convenient for the city but quite difficult to locate. Very efficiently run with delightful staff. The room would have benefited from a fridge and a safe.
The breakfast food was very good but a jug of for milk would have made a big difference.
Excellent Breakfast and the location was spot on.
A great location, hotel newly refurbished and clean. Breakfast was good. Corallie the receptionist was incredibly helpful and very welcoming.
No issues
Great location
Unfortunately renovation was going on at the time of our stay
Room was small but it was equipped with all required facilities with comphortable bed.
My room was really small.
Location and staff
Location
The hotel was in the process of being renovated, and we were not informed. The lifts didn't feel safe. Things were missing in the room.
The location and ease of parking in NCP, however I would have liked to have been able to park on hotel car park a little cheaper.
The breakfast was expensive for what was on offer. A good coffee machine is needed.
Clean, friendly and ideally located.
Lovely hotel, great staff and location.
No real coffee machine.
Struttura nuova molto confortevole
Connessione Internet debole che non permetteva una corretta visione della tv
Really impressed, comfortable beds, very clean. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and amazing scrambled eggs.great location would definitely stay again
There was nothing to dislike
easy check in easy check out housekeeping good
tv was bad.. can’t connect phone to it . The window directly facing car park.. streets noisy at night if window open . Room abit compact
Hotel de alto nível como um todo. Ótimo ambiente e itens
Não ter ar condicionado
It was clean and well located
There was no air con in the room and the windows would only open a crack so it was boiling all night. The breakfast was terrible, poorly cooked and not a great selection. Pastries were out of a cheap packet and there was only instant coffee
Great location. A quiet and comfortable sleep. Very helpful staff.
No record of our booking on arrival. Breakfast distinctly average. Not even a cup of real coffee. Fan in bathroom not working.
Typisches Ketten Hotel in perfekter Lage, gutes Preis Leistungsverhältnis
Location was great
No restaurant or bar.
Hotel doesn't look ready to accept guests, no bar,, no evening meal option, elevator looked like a service lift. Room was the smallest I've ever seen
Very nice renovation and lovely breakfast
No guest information in the room so didn’t know when breakfast was etc. staff that checked us in was quite curt and gave no info. We stayed during a heatwave so the room was ridiculously hot and we were on the top floor, they should maybe consider not offering these rooms during hot weather
The hotel was newly-remodeled and very beautiful! The staff was SO helpful and quickly and easily adjusted a booking error that worried me. I have only GREAT things to say about this place!
Great place to stay in Nottingham
Hotel appena ristrutturato quindi tutto nuovo e moderno.
Room, Shower, Comfort, staff were polite, Location, price
Nothing
Clean room, good location
Being refurbished and smell of paint
Malgré les travaux en cours l’hôtel a du charme et les chambres sont confortables
Pas de climatisation
We had a lovely stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The location was convenient, with easy access to the centre of Nottingham and transport links. The hotel parking wasn't great as the underground car park was flooded on arrival, so needed to move to the NCP car park close by and pay again. Breakfast offered a good variety of options and was fresh and well-presented. Overall, excellent value for money, and we would happily stay here again.
The breakfast was good and the location is excellent.
There was still renovation work going on but it didn’t lessen my enjoyment.
Cosy room. Extremely comfy bed. Breakfast is really tasty. Great location for city centre visits. Some work going on due to change of owners but nothing major. Turned out 4 other people from my group met up booked there as well.
Car park is in an interesting location. Definitely book ahead for it or park for alittle more money next door.
A good selection of cereals and cooked items
Scrambled egg needs less salt.
Location
Was booked when the hotel was St James. Got a Sheraton in remodeling stages. Elevator stripped to metal siding. Got to watch how marble countertops are installed at reception desk. Hard to get to room safe or sit on toilet.
The hotel has recently had a refurb. It was very modern and clean. Both the room and bathroom were very spacious. Even a fan was provided to help with the hot temperatures we've recently had. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was very good value for money and the location is superb and very central with an NCP carpark right at the side of it.
I honestly can't think of anything.
The staff were polite, great location and clean rooms
Booked the st james hotel by the time of the stay it had changed names. Under renovation when we arrived so barely any atmosphere. The rooms looked different to what I had booked because of the renovations and the tv wasn't working. I put on the booking that it was for a birthday visit and asked if they could do anything special. Maybe a room with an ok view. Nothing extra was done and we had a room with the view of multi story parking.
Fresh decoration as the hotel was tired.
1.Miserable staff on reception 2.Small room when I have mobility issues I had no room to get around the bed 3.The constant observation when eating breakfast 4.Not been pre..warned that all the facilities were not available due to the ongoing refurbishment 5.Told by the receptionist on checking out that I owed money when it was paid in full previously which was extremely embarrassing. I have complained to the hotel but have had no response
La posixione,pulizia,cortesis
Formerly ST James hotel, when I booked it ! This hotel is in the early days of a substantial refit, and it is already much brighter as you enter, and a far more pleasant environment to have breakfast in. The Wi Fi is good, the beds are very comfortable, and the rooms are clean. The lady that checked us in was warm and friendly, but next to her sat an ice maiden, who never looked up, said a word, or acknowledged a lady waiting behind us to check in. Very poor at reception.
There is no bar at present, and the breakfast offering is very disappointing. No fresh coffee, just a hot tap and some sachets of Nescafé , so no corner left uncut there, very thin toast, which passes through the toaster 3 times before it stops being bread, and no option of fried eggs on the buffet, just watery scrambled something, and soggy hash browns, although the bacon was good and the mushrooms too. The room is far better than it was though.
Location and cost
No aircon or complimentary water just a fan to circulate the hot air. Also in the middle of a major refurb
Near the town centre, English breakfast was ok.
Breakfast opens at 7.30am.
Great location, hotel looking great after recent refurbishment, very comfortable.
Didn’t know about the very recent name change so wasn’t sure we were at the right place. Some work still to be completed.
Good location
Small room, toilet was not working properly,. Rooms could be cleaner.
Location is great just by the castle - by the hotel was undergoing renovation which meant facilities were limited (next to none, including kitcjen) and it was a pretty dusty and unimpressive experience.
The hotel was a partial buillding site. The unexpected hotel renovations (they had notified us that kitchen would be unavailable, not that the whole floorrs would be undergoing extensive rennovation or we'd never have stayed) was very unwelcome. The lifts were messy (I assume they had removed the mirrored walls to avoid breaking glass during reception). The room was very long, but very narrow - so the large room area advertised was a bit meaningless. The staff had forgotten to stock the shower products on our first day. A very unimpressive stay. That said, i recognise it was down to timing, when the work is complete and they have redone the hotel, i think they'll turn it into something very special. All the best on the changes...
Great location, rooms comfortable and a good variety of breakfast. Lovely greeting from the reception staff
The property was undergoing a major refurbishment that we were not informed on pre our stay. We booked as st James hotel, to find it was four points flex on arrival. It was disappointing to not have the facilities of a bar and restaurant after traveling 18hrs, we were looking forward to dinner on arrival. The elevators were half finished which I had to question with reception if they were safe to use. The rooms were finishedish but comfortable and clean.
It was clean, all the basics were included. There was free wifi that was easy to access. TV picture quality was not too bad. In most hotels its terrible. There was a hair dryer and iron + ironing board. Free WIFI The majority of the staff were helpful and polite with special references to the guy overseeing breakfast on Friday morning 17/07/26. He ensured the are remained clean and I had all the assistance that I needed.
Didn't look much like the photos. There was not room to swing a cat in the bed room. If two people used it the dynamics of moving round the room would have been akward. It sufficed for solo traveller but I would have liked a bigger, less claustrophobic space. The toilet seat and lid would not stay up because it was aligned with the curve of the sink. As a male I had to hold it up with my spare hand when urinating. The bathroom was so compaact that the toilet roll holder was under the sink. Just about within reach for me but anyone with upper mobility restrictions would struggle. It is no longer called St James, There is a building near by with the hotel name on, round the back of the crow pub. This is empty and dissused. On the opposite side of the stree is Four Points hotel and that is this hotel. Staff explained they are undergoing a name change but not knowing that left me walking around wondering if I had been scammed. The hotel is being refurbed and booking.com had no mentioned of that. The reception area was mostly being installed/under constructions. When trying to have a paeceful breakfast workmen were banging loudly and using tools building the new reception desk. The lift had some kind brown glue splashed all over it. Again probably part of the renovation. There was no hotel bar as advertised on booking.com because it was still under reconstruction.
Very nice 👌 I even extended my stays food is on point
Receptionist was lovely, breakfast was good.
Bathroom smelt, room was really hot, cabinets poor. Wasn't told at any stage that since I booked and time of arrival that you had changed your name, I had to phone because I couldn't access st James hotel at the address given. Very poor.
Newly renovated, nice bathroom
Room was very hot. Breakfast was poor.
Stayed for 2 nights, we weren’t made aware of the renovation going on but didn’t really spoil our stay. The hotel is in an excellent location near the castle & town centre up a short hill. On arrival the foyer was being decorated so only really saw the reception desk, the bar or restaurant are closed so no food available outside room but there are a few very nice restaurants & bars nearby. My room was a single which was small & compact but easily big enough for one, with bath & shower, it was recently decorated & spotlessly clean, with beverages, toiletries & water provided. The hotel will be lovely when the renovation is complete & I would definitely return if in the area
In the midst of a refurbishment which wasn’t explained to the detail required - no reception no bar breakfast in amongst the building site - staff were incredibly apologetic but dreadful stay which I will be following up on
Building site accommodation
The location was good.
The Hotel is in the middle of a re-brand and refurb and we were not advised beforehand - including that the signage has been changed to the new name! The breakfast was refunded as they are not offering this at the moment- but we would have preferred to eat at the hotel. Local refuse collection was noisy at 5am that woke us up, and there are construction works nearby using using petrol power tools at 8am. Normally I would have been awake - but after being woken by the bin lorries at 5am I was trying to catch up. I'm sure this place would be great normally but not at the moment.
The hotel was in a convenient location, not too far from the train station and in a nice part of town with bars and restaurants nearby.
The hotel was under renovation when I was there. The lobby was basically a building site and there were no breakfast or dining facilities. My room was comfortable but small and in need of an update.
Location, helpful staff, cleanliness of room
The hotel was under transformation and difficult to negotiate, especially via the stairs
No breakfast due to refurb
The contractors started very early
Room was comfortable, very good location. Very good cafe for breakfast within easy walk.
No breakfast due to ongoing refurbishment. Tried to use their parking facilities. carpark extremely tight, don't bother with this use the Big carpark beside the hotel the difference in price is worth avoiding the stress and potential respray.
Great location, nice clean rooms.
Unfortunately the lobby was been renovated at the time of the stay so that was bad timing, would have been nice to drink in the hotel
Place is being renovated .
Bedrooms extremely hot.
Clean & modern. Excellent bath. Cool lighting concept. Room design was on point.
Chaotic London style “everyone stand in line at 3:00 pm” for check in. Check in kiosks seemed to confuse people.
Lovely big, clean room Nice decor
The hotel is undergoing renovations which aren't advertised when booked, these renovations are from the reception so restaurant/bar closed Struggled to find the entrance as signs being changed so didn't have name outside.. I booked hotel parking thinking it's outside but is more than a 5 min walk, there are 2 carparks and an ncp directly outside so confusing. Only 1 key was given so electricity goes off when leave the room, this is fine but no air con and just 1 fan which wanted to leave on to keep room cool.
Sentralt, rent og hyggelig personale. Fikk avslag i prisen siden de ikke kunne servere frokost.
Hotellet var under renovering så det var litt kaos. Veldig varmt på rommet.
Location- close to the Robin Hood statue.
No AC. Very warm and insufferable, so hot it’s hard to sleep at night. Kitchen is being refurbished, so no breakfast and dinner available, even the hotel provides 10% discount at The Roundhouse restaurant nearby, it turned out to be closed. Not a lot of dining options around.
They were having a renovation of the restaurant bar area so no breakfast or evening drinks which we like hopefully it will soon be back on song
Location perfect for town centre and watching a show
The staff were ok the room was fab and clean
There was a lot of renovation work going on so no food drink facilities. We were told about this but not in enough time to change hotel as everywhere was fully booked within our budget. Also we were told by the reception staff we could get discount food and drink at a local pub but unfortunately this was not open, no reimbursement was offered. We did not pay to have breakfast on booking but would have eaten and had a drink on the premises
Great location & receptionist was very helpful & professional! I wasn’t made aware that the hotel & restaurant was under renovation & this maybe due the booking on a travel portal through work. Hotel will look great when finished! Room had bottled water, tea, coffee & biscuits & decorated in a contemporary style however bathroom could do with an update…..Would I stay again - I’m not sure!… this is due to room being extremely small & no air conditioning which is current heatwave made it more unbearable than my own home!
Great location and parking facility
Tired rooms with no aircon. Basic TV, bathroom in need of renovation
Great location.
Was like a building site in reception
Great location, ample parking and good value for money. Early check in was great.
The hotel is being refurbished ao was like a building site. No restaurant or bar due to refit, lots of dirt and dust. Rooms were so hot and although there was a fan the fans are noisy.
The location is excellent, just a short walk from Nottingham city centre and ideal for both business and leisure. The hotel was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the reception staff were friendly, apologetic and quick to resolve any issues, including arranging a refund for services that were no longer available. Despite the ongoing changes, I would still consider staying here again because the location is hard to beat.
The hotel is currently in the middle of changing ownership and undergoing renovations, so some advertised facilities were no longer available despite being included when we booked, such as room amenities and extras we'd paid for. The breakfast was disappointing for the price, with slow service and limited value. The newly renovated room also felt a little clinical compared to previous visits, and the shower drainage wasn't working properly, causing water to build up during use.
The staff were excelllent under the circumstances
When we booked the stay we were not informed of the refurbishment
All the refurb that was going on
Clean & new
No breakfast room, just being refurbished
Sadly there was nothing I liked at all
On arrival entering the hotel was nice. Immediately you realised that you were entering a building site. No food available as there was no kitchen, obviously no breakfast either. In fact in the morning I walked over to the Crown Plaza for Breakfast. The room was extremely small, it must have been the smallest I have ever stayed even city centre London no air conditioning which meant window open alright with drug trading going on outside the window in the adjacent car park. What makes this all the worse. Booking.com did not inform me of any of the long term problems which I experienced. Needless to say I would not have stayed there had I known. Zero marks for St James Place Hotel and Zero marks for Booking.com
Super nuevo. A estrenar todo. Muy limpio. Super bien ubicado frente al castillo de Nottingham. Aunque estaba en obras no oímos ruidos y el personal super amable.
Estaba en obras y la recepción era un poco desastre con muchas cosas por el suelo.
Location
Not knowing that a refers was happening
The location, the comfortable, clean and spacious room.
Staff are very friendly and helpful. Room is adequate. Comfortable, clean and with sufficient power points. I have stayed before and I will stay again. Location is excellent for restaurants in the evenings.
Shower over bath drooped and wouldn’t stay in position. Room was far too hot, even with fan on full all night. Weather was very hot and room needed air conditioning.
Staff really helpful, great location and a good price
Shame the bar and kitchen was being refurbished but hopefully next time I stay it will be back to usual 😁
Great location and helpful staff.
Understand renovations being undertaken and no breakfast available.
Location, cleanliness.
No restaurant facilities, and no price reduction for inconvenience because of it, poor packed “lunch” breakfast.
Check in check out all good, location was nice in a good area of Nottingham a
Unfortunately the hotel was getting renovated whilst we were there so no Bar or breakfast was available.
Good location
Major refurbishment in progress , no where to relax in the hotel. None of this was disclosed when the booking was made in September last year, and no discount offered. Our room had no aircon and was really hot during this recent heatwave, even with a fan on permanently during occupancy. The shower temperature control was dreadful and prevented us from showering on two days because it produced really hot water ONLY. The t control mechanism was pathetic and could only be handled by a really helpful staff member on the front desk. Really not good enough , very disappointing.
Fabulous location and really helpful staff. Always stay here when we're in Nottingham. Such a great hotel
The location was fair.
The hotel was been renovated. There was no reception or breaskfast area neither off these was mentioned on the website. Not value for money. 4 star is not appropriate for this facility.
The location was brilliant and the four poster room was lovely and cosy.
I wasn’t keen on the breakfast.
The room was lovely and I appreciated being upgraded
The renovation work. I look forward to visiting again when it's complete ✅
Location is great, we have stayed here several times previous and always thought the hotel was comfortable, value for money and good service
Hotel was having dining and bar are refurbished, which we were made aware of but since our last stay everything looked very tired. Attention to detail was lacking with some things e.g. the chair in our room was stained and though probably clean’ did not look good. T.V. In room did not work, shower in bathroom didn’t function right, could not change from shower to taps. Walls were badly marked, as they were throughout corridors etc. Had it been our first stay we wouldn’t return. However we are hopeful that with refurb of the restaurant and bar, the rest of the hotel will follow. I cannot fault the staff, all were friendly and accommodating- a credit to the company
Convenient location
No tv due to no Ariel lead
beautiful hotel, right next to city centre. breakfast was good, bacon super thick and cooked nicely, great smoothies, continental breakfast even had brie cheese! very fancy for a very reasonable price.
they were doing renovations so we assume the price was lower because of that so probably wouldnt be able to afford it otherwise but we didnt mind the construction, nice to see they are keeping their facilities up to date.
