Melbourne Lodge Queenstown

Great Location, 5 minute walk to shops and restaurants. Bedding and towels really nice.

The lodge although on the hill has quiet surroundings. It provides a well-maintained cosy kitchen/common area and free luggage storage. This particular room stay is a vast difference from my previous room stays at this same Lodge. The management has reached out to offer a partial refund as a gesture of goodwill.

The room was smaller than the usual Double-Rm/Twin Rm. One of the beds has a sunken mattress. A proper mattress is basic for an establishment like ML. So i barely slept and had a backache from it. The window/pane was covered up so there was no view (as mentioned in the initial offer) The ventilation was poor as the heater did not work well. In the night the cold air seeped in. The soundproofing of the partitions was poor so noise from guests at the reception area and users to the adjacent toilet can be heard.

The room was níce. We particularly liked the little courtyard out the back. The common room was well stocked and looked to be a níce gathering spot, as did the front balcony area. The shower was great!!

manager was very accommodating with the situation we were in and handled it well.

that I booked through booking wanting 2 single beds and chose a higher apartment. but when I got there, the manager said it never came through. I'd normally screen shot what I chose but didn't this this time. so be careful when booking.

My expectations of Melbourne Lodge weren't high, as I was just trying to book one night in Queenstown without breaking the bank. The location is very pretty, and nicer than I expected. The person on reception was friendly, and obviously cared about his guests experiences. The room was small, but we were charmed by the little terrace outside with a place to sit. Also, we appreciated that the bathroom, though small, had a cheerful shower curtain and new tiles on the floor. There was a cool cushion on each bed which added a touch of luxe, and decent curtains on the sliding doors to keep out the light and the cold. The heat pump worked. There was a kettle for hot drinks and hot water bottles, and I also appreciated the fridge. Most of all, I appreciated the guest lounge. It meant that there was a place to sit, outside of the room. It has a beautiful view of the surroundings, and was peaceful. We didn't use the kitchen facilities but it's great that there is the possibility to heat up food. We also really appreciated the ample parking. The property was clear that the parking was on a first-come, first-served basis, and so we were concerned about leaving with the car once we had a spot. However, we did take the car out to a function in the evening and were pleased to find spaces when we got back.

The hallway to our room smelled of cigarette smoke. It was being aired out, though. We had to go outside on the way to the room which meant we got wet on the way, but that's not a big deal. A teaspoon would have been appreciated for the tea setup, and to really make it, some nice-sized tea cups rather than the tiny standard hotel room ones.

Great location and value for money! Even had cleaning service daily and tea and coffee in the morning.

Location is excellent. Literally 5 min walk to town. Free carpark is also available which is handy specially if you are travelling to around NZ.

WiFi is absolutely shocking. It keeps dropping out every minute, making it incredibly frustrating to use. You get some signal in the rooms, which is understandable given the building layout, but the router/network equipment appears to be very poor quality. Good WiFi is one of the most basic investments a hotel should make, particularly in a tourist destination like Queenstown. Please get this sorted.

Location was perfect and the lounge facilities with a kitchen and tv was used by many guests

I have previously posted about a man coming into our room in the night and the incident not being handled well by reception man. Since then s senior manager had handled the situation so much more appropriately so at least people can see things like this are acted upon

Great stay

Man entered our room at 4am dressed only I. His pants and tried to get in bed with my daughter. Clearly we hadn’t locked properly but will did hear many people struggling to lock/unlock their doors all evening. Reception disinterested: just wanted to know if he was a resident! I mean, he was just in his pants! Shay do you think?!?!

Could not contact anyone to check in in an evening when premises was unmanned. So was unable to stay and had to book somewhere else last minute. Wouldn't give refund. Crappy experience all round. Will not give my business to this provider again.

Good budget option, for the price we paid can't really complain. The room was okay - had a mini fridge, kettle, decent TV, nice bathroom and was reasonably spacious. Location was good - short walk into the town centre (however, you do have to walk up/down a hill). Free parking available onsite and reception guy was nice.

House cleaning wasn't the greatest, but it was fine for the 3 nights we were there.

Location was good. We experienced a black out at night whilst staying. Staff we were excellent as they found an alternative hotel for the night as I had a cpap machine to sleep. Very grateful for their efforts particularly Ravinda.

No working plug in kitchen sink, needed to ask for more tissues, more soap in bathroom.. the TV had lights behind it and should be replaced. Overall good and room was made up every day.

The view was amazing and the location is close to the main Queenstown street.

The rooms have a thin walls so you can hear the noise from the other room.

I had a pleasant stay at Melbourne Lodge in Queenstown. The room was clean, warm, and comfortable, with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. The location was excellent—just a short walk to the town centre, restaurants, shops, and the lakefront. The staff were friendly and helpful, making check-in and check-out quick and easy. The lodge offered great value for money, and I appreciated the peaceful atmosphere after a day of sightseeing. I would happily stay here again and recommend Melbourne Lodge to anyone visiting Queenstown.

If you have heavy luggages, better to request ground floor.. There is no room cleaning services.

We are 4 adults and the family room is big enough. The place is close to Queenstown city all walking distance. We did not even rent a car and use bus all the time. The staff are nice and very accommodating. The common Kitchen is very useful and free water fr the dispenser is a bonus.
