Old Ground Hotel

An ideal location for exploring Ennis. Atmospheric lounge areas and wonderfully comfortable bedroom. Friendly personable staff at Reception. Great service for drinks in the garden, in the shadow of the cathedral.

Breakfast was less than expected: hot food can be ordered, but cold offerings were very limited: bread but nothing to put on it other than jam. Staff on breakfast service seemed disinterested: plates piled up on tables, minimal interaction.

Our stay at the old ground was nothing short of wonderful. We travelled down from Derry and arrived late, we were surprised by being upgraded to a suite which was out of this world. The staff couldn’t have been more attentive. A real treat. We will definitely be back.

The reception staff was most accommodating in getting us into our room early, as our flight arrived from the US early. They also upgraded us to a suite, which was lovely. Dinner in the Poets Corner was very nice, good selection, excellent wait staff.

For breakfast, they starting clearing the buffet at 9:45 shortly after we got there.

Steeped in history, the Old Ground Hotel is in the centre of Ennis and close to restaurants, shopping and bus stops. It is clean, tidy, comfortable with lovely breakfasts and helpful staff.

Ordering ginger ale and being given half a glass not a full glass.

Room. It was so nice having the suite. Bathroom was wonderful and the extra pillows were fantastic.

Rooms were clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. Easy walk into town and great restaurantts.

Parking was tricky, we had to drive around a bit before someone finally moved and we could get the last spot. Wish their pub had had live music that night but easy walk into town.

Ein nettes Hotel im Stadtzentrum. Die öffentlichen Bereiche sind Stilvoll und gemütlich. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden. Das Zimmer war nicht ganz wie in der Beschreibung, vor allem gab es die Dusche in der Badewanne. Alle Mitarbeiter waren sehr freundlich und bemüht.

Beautiful hotel in a central location. Breakfast was fine. The restaurant looked great but we didn't eat there.

We were upgraded to a suite which we were pleasantly surprised by; unfortunately it turned out not to be much of an upgrade. The room was isolated and not perfectly maintained (cracks in the bathroom tiles, toilet didn't flush properly).

Lovely historic hotel on the heart of Ennis

Hübsches Hotel im alten Stil. Allerdings war der Ausblick aus den Zimmern nicht der Beste. Sauberes Hotel, Personal war freundlich, großer Parkplatz ist vorhanden. Leider war die Beschilderung/ Hinweis zum Parkplatz sehr schlecht. Frühstück war ausgezeichnet!

The breakfast could be a lot better .We eat each night in the town hall which was excellent.

The pub had fabulous food and the staff was wonderful! The grounds are beautiful as well and the location near everything in Ennis !

Our room was near the elevator and the walls and door were so thin that we didn’t sleep both nights. People were walking above us and talking a lot in the hallway at all hours so we didn’t get to rest. I don’t know that we would stay here again but would definitely dine here again!

The charm and history with beautiful surroundings. The room was tiny and visually appealing. The food in the bar was first rate. My luggage was brought to my room which was very nice. No hair dryer in suite. It did have one American plug which was nice. The tub was great but the bathroom was exceedingly tight to maneuver. It was pretty without comfort.

It’s a very busy place and I felt sorry for the staff being overwhelmed with work both at the front desk and restaurant. The manager walked around with an angry scowl, like he was put out to perform his job. My room faced a car park and people hung out there and were loud until 1 am had to shut windows and it was humid and hot in the room. They need to update the twin beds as one was overly high with some padding and the other had a hollow point in the center. My back started hurting after 15 mins trying to sleep and I was awake all night trying to get comfortable. Should have moved to the floor to sleep but not doing that.

The hotel is situated in the middle of Ennis. It has a lovely garden and the pub at the front of the hotel is welcoming and the food is good. Staff were very helpful so that we could have supper in the garden. The room was well equipped and a generous size. Plenty of parking spaces.

It's a bit difficult to find by car. Google maps very misleading and the entrance to the car park not properly signposted. Hotel is used by a lot of tour groups but the staff does take care that individual travellers don't get overlooked.

Ein sehr schönes Hotel mit Liebe zum Detail. Man gühlt sich sehr wohl. Die Lage ist sehr zentral und quasi in der Fussgängerzone. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Die Zimmer waren sehr ansprechend und gross. Unsere Zimmer 107 und 109 lagen zum Parkplatz und waren schön ruhig. Alles war sehr sauber. Das Frühstück war sehr gut. Warme Speisen kann man aus der Karte wählen. Dazu gibt es ein kleines Büffet. Das Restaurant konnten wir aus zeitlichen Gründen nicht besuchen, was wir bedauert haben. Es sah sehr vielversprechend aus.

Die Anfahrt zum Hotel gestaltet sich nicht ganz einfach. An der Rezeption haben wir dann den Tipp bekommen, die Schule nebenan als Ziel im Navi einzugeben, damit man nicht in der Fussgängerzone landet. Der Hotelparkplatz ist zwar gross, aber man findet trotzdem am Abend nur mit viel Glück noch einen Parkplatz. Dusche und Badewanne ist zusammen. Der Einstieg ist sehr hoch und für eingeschränkte Personen wohl schwierig. Im Zimmer werden nur 2 kleine Flaschen Wasser zur Verfügung gestellt. In anderen Hotels haben wir zumindest 5 dl Flaschen bekommen.

Plenty of parking for car travelers. Good location to access Cliffs of Moher. Several restaurants near hotel, too.

Full breakfast not included in cost of stay (which was unusual compared to the several other hotels we stayed in on this trip).

It was a lovely boutique hotel located in the middle of Ennis. Excellent staff, very warm with great recommendations. An amazing breakfast! The room was very spacious and comfortable. The pub located in the hotel had excellent food, very fresh and the waitresses were very nice. It also offers free parking which is a plus. Coffee, tea and water in room.

Our shower was clogged but when fixed, there is nothing I did not like!

The hotel is very charming and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff were so lovely from the bar, restaurant and reception. We had a double room itvis waz so spacious. I will definitely stay here again and would recommend it.

Following Sat navigation in Ennis was a nightmare as changes had been made to the route.Some information about alternative route would have been so useful on the site.Reception staff were quite aware of the difficulties faced in accessing the hotel

Great food and location

Great times at the Corner Pub with local musicians, along with excellent food. The service staff was incredible! Always smiling and genuine. The room was spacious and comfortable..Breakfast was delicious and the staff was wonderful!

Room was a little stuffy but they came thru providing a lovely fan.

I arrived at 6:00AM, the hotel was full so I couldn't check in. However, they brought me coffee and made sure I was comfortable in the lobby until breakfast was served. They made sure that my room was available as soon as someone checked out early. The room was beautifully decorated with a lovely upholstered headboard and comfortable chairs. The public spaces were lovely with comfortable furniture. They had a nice breakfast menu with many options to suit most people. The staff were all kind and so helpful.

Staff, location and good breakfast

Poor facilities, stayed in junior suite and not even a pencil supplied to fill out breakfast request. No slippers or gowns either and only a shower no bath. Stayed for 2 nights and drove from wicklow. The only electric charge point was used up as a parking spot and could not charge my car the whole stay. This was very dissapointing as these other cars were only parked and not charging. Very dissapointed that they would not put on the Ireland international rugby game on the Saturday, cannot understand this.

We had a wonderful stay at the Old Ground Hotel in Ennis. Staff were very welcoming and helpful and the rooms were clean and well-appointed. The lobby and restaurants, there are three on site, were busy with activity all evening adding to the cozy atmosphere of the hotel. The hotel is in a great location with great shopping, pubs and restaurants within walking distance. We really enjoyed our stay

They layout was a bit confusing at first and getting our luggage up and down the steps was a challenge. In the furture i would specify the need to avoid steps.

Everyone (all staff) was exceeding kind and welcoming.

The breakfast was not really satisfactory to me. If you don't like the 'Full Irish' type of breakfast there's not much of a choice (I like nice Coffee and freshly baked bread etc). Thankfully we were able to find beautiful food at The Well , just across the street - great Food and excellent Coffee - and cheaper that the breakfast whic was on offer for €15.00.

Room was clean and bed was comfy. Breakfast was nice also.

Our shower faucet didn't work. The staff didn't know about it ahead of time, so I can't fault them for that, but it made showering tricky. We let them know, so hopefully it can be remedied before next people come.
