Provider-sourced guest reviews.
Excellent location, beautiful pool, large rooms.
Night front desk staff were not professional and did not make a good first impression.
Nice place in nice area, perfect for a stay along route 66!
Excelente ubicacion, la habitacion grande y comoda
Agree with the previous reviews of the hotel. Great place to stay . Totally enjoyable. Although our room's bathroom was large unlike some other reviews. Highly recommend.
Great big old hotel amazing pool
Felt a bit dated, and staff was sufficient, but a little flat.
This is a classic grand old hotel that is, for the most part, very well maintained and retains a lot of the classic charm from decades ago without being stuffy or out of date. It is in the perfect location for attending MUNY performances or other Forest Park events. Positives Location - borders Forest Park - walking distance to MUNY etc. To the right one block is a gourmet food grocery store (small and expensive, but convenient) and around the block to the right and down a block are a series of fun dive bars. Rooms - very clean. There are electrical and iphone outlets right on the side of the nightstand within very immediate and easy reach when you are in bed, vs. having to reach down and around the back of the nightstand. AC works extremely well and is individually room controlled. Suites are very spacious, with a completely separate bedroom from the living area, which has a living room area, a dining table area, and a large desk area for working. Mini frig is happily empty, so you can store your own beverages, and is not crammed full of the hotel mini bar pricey beverages. Bedroom has excellent mattress and linens, although the sheets needed to be remade to pull the sheets and quilt up higher than housekeeping made the bed. If you request in advance, you can get bathrobes but not slippers. Large closet with real hangers and lots of dresser drawers for storage space. You can request a luggage rack, although they are very small and very low, so we covered the dining table with paper towels and used the table for our luggage. Bedroom has good light blocking drapes. Bedroom has an alarm clock on the nightstand - YEA! Fitness Center - is open 24/7. I do not know where the 18000 feet 2 is located as the fitness center in the basement is nowhere near that big. Has good weight training equipment and several cardio machines (which, not a positive, are mostly very old, rusted out, noisy, or non-functional). Front desk staff -- impeccable service and professionalism. EXCELLENT people. Bar - serves food until 11 pm and is open until 1 am. Good live bands and dancing! Negatives Location - stay within a few blocks as the neighborhood changes instantly with most buildings in shreds and boarded up Rooms Bathroom is very very small. The door does not stay open and you bump into it all the time. The tub is old and very slippery, and there is nothing to which to hold for steadiness and security if you need it. Towels are ok but sort of cheap - nowhere nearly as good as the bed linens. Very little counter space or storage space. Clean. Lighting is dark. Fitness Center -- see above. Much smaller and older than the "18,000 square feet wow" as described on the website. Most cardio equipment is old, rusted out, does not work very well, uncomfortable to use. Big old fan blows very cold air. No restroom - you have to go upstairs to the restroom off the lobby so it's just as easy to go to your room. Parking - self is $40 valet is $50. BReakfast - very expensive and very small portions. Fruit bowl at $6 is two berries and a slice of apple.
Really enjoyed our stay here! The location was one of the biggest highlights—there were so many great restaurants, bars, and things to do within walking distance, so it made exploring the area really easy. The room was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. The hotel’s amenities were great with a great hotel bar.
The staff was so kind - BIG shout out to Brenda! She was full of life and kindness!
Have been coming to the hotel for years. Usually grab a bite at the Tenderloin Room. They were closed for repairs so we popped in to The Chase Club. Had the Margherita pizza and the Nicoise salad. DELICIOUS!!! Eric and Anthony, bartenders, took wonderful care of us. Highly recommend the hotel and all three of their restaurants.
I have been coming to the Chase routinely for some time now. I have nothing but amazing things to say about it! Staff-all areas are professional, willing to go out of their way. Del in Chase club is very attentive. Rooms are immaculate. I’m picky when it comes to clean. Choice of food/drink, pool, movie theater and a beautiful neighborhood and park right out the front door! I really do feel part of the family! Thank you, Jill F
Great location, great breakfast, nice history of hotel
Some areas closed (got trapped trying to exit via restaurant)
Location and facilities
Valet was not flexible
As always, the hotel was fantastic. The front desk staff is helpful and friendly. The room was clean and incredibly comfortable. I love being able to head back to my room and relax comfortably after a day of walking around Forest Park .The pool was also wonderful. I had no trouble finding a lounger to relax on will enjoying the sun. I really want to give a shout out to a few staff members who made my 4 night stay great. Ms. B and Alex in The Preston made my breakfast experience wonderful. Ms. B is the most friendly person! She is funny, helpful, and just wonderful. Alex gave me great suggestions that made eating breakfast enjoyable. She truly added to my dining experience.
Our group had a work meeting their last week. The team was friendly and very helpful to our team during the meeting. Thank for the great hospitality.
Anytime we travel to St. Louis the Chase Park Plaza is our go to place to stay. Convenient location close to 64 and I44, as well as downtown and Busch Stadium. The hotel is beautiful, clean, and smells great! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Excellent restaurants on site. The valet staff, bellman, and front desk staff are friendly and extremely helpful. This is a high class hotel that is reasonably priced. High recommend!!!
I’ve stayed there many times. It’s a beautiful hotel in a stellar location. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience this time. The host at the Preston was not good, and when a very valid complaint was lodged, the manager, Ashly, was very condescending and rude. I will not return until there is well needed change at that restaurant
The experience at “The Chase” was great. Great accommodations and friendly staff. Concierge Pamela Nangle is an expert of the area and one of the most kind and professional people I have met in the hospitality industry.
Charming hotel, makes you feel back in time. Across the street there is a huge park to walk and exercise. Rooms were very comfortable and clean.
Parking was very expensive, the price of the room for one night was really high so it should has parking included.
We were here for a wedding and part of a room block. Classic hotel nicely modernized. We had a very nice king room with a nice bathroom. Nice staff. Three bars and restaurants. Loved the Tenderloin Steakhouse. Nice pool in the summer months. Small coffee shop in the lobby. Easy Ubers to wherever you want to go. Really nice place to stay. Right next to Chase Park.
I’ve been coming to the Chase for the past eight years and it never disappoints. It’s our corporate hotel, and every stay makes me feel like I’m on vacation. I love the historic charm, the beautiful rooms with comfy beds and linens, not to mention the location! Across from Forest Park and nestled in vibrant neighborhood with cafes and shops, I love being able to stroll on foot for dinner or a coffee. There are multiple restaurants in the hotel also, all of which I enjoy. Most of all I appreciate the kindness and hospitality of the staff. If I ever have a problem, they are quick to remedy. Many of my colleagues stay down the street to max out their points with Marriott. But I can’t relate. I’d rather feel pampered for the same amount of money. The gym! A movie theater! Really can’t imagine staying anywhere else.
The room was super comfortable. The location was perfect for us since we were wanting to go to the Cathedral.
The staff at the hotel went out of their wayl to make my mother/daughter trip special. We had a wonderful time at the pool, the food was perfect, and the staff was lovely.
The hotel rooms are clean and spacious and the entire hotel smells amazing! The Preston has many tasty breakfast options and The Chase has nice dessert options. Worth noting, in addition to standard bar options, The Chase also has non-alcoholic beer and wine. The movie theater popcorn is also delicious.
The Royal Sonesta Chase Park Plaza was our home base for our daughter's wedding weekend. The historic elegance of the hotel impressed all of our Boston guests. Most took advantage of the pool, Chase Club and we held 2 events in the R Club for welcome and farewell events. The staff was so helpful and professional. The rooms were spotless and comfortable. Most of our guests took advantage of Forest Park being across the street and shopping in Central West End. The hotel runs so expertly, we really felt pampered! Thankyou to all for a wonderful experience!
Amazing hotel. Incredible pool and walkable to so many bars and restaurants. Brittney and Jack in the Chase Club are fantastic. Will definitely visit again.
I would like to recognize the hotel manager for providing exceptional customer service and leadership during my stay. From the moment I arrived, they demonstrated professionalism, and a positive experience. Although we had a server he still made sure we were taken care of. He address our concerns when needed and I can’t wait for my next visit!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the pleasure of meeting Eric Hughes, Food and Beverage Manager at the Sonesta, and I cannot say enough about the exceptional experience he provided. From the moment I arrived, Eric made me feel like a long-lost family member rather than a guest. His genuine smile, warm hospitality, and sincere desire to ensure every guest feels welcomed truly set him apart. Eric is the epitome of what customer service is and should be. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail created an atmosphere that was both comfortable and memorable. Thank you, Eric, for going above and beyond and for making such a positive impression. The Sonesta is fortunate to have someone who represents hospitality with such excellence. I look forward to returning and experiencing your outstanding service again. Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Chase Park Plaza never disappoints! Caitlyn at the front desk was extremely helpful with my entire check-in process. I decided to go into the Chase Club for a cocktail and was greeted by Jack and Brittney at the bar immediately. It was pretty busy for only having 2 bartenders and they never left anyone waiting. Was a very inviting atmosphere with those two behind the bar. Eric (the manager) came behind the bar and checked on me and made sure everything was going good. Overall this hotel was a great experience.
Pleasant , different restaurants, location
All good
We had our son’s wedding there. Quentin Miles event coordinator was awesome. I would give him 10 . He worked over and beyond to help resolve the problems we had with the venue. Thank you, Quentin.
It was easy to navigate and the staff was top notch
Pool closed to early
Everything
Nothing
Staff are wonderful! Room was clean and nice size.
Being very picky, but shower head was low, I’m 6. Ft, and in a bathtub. Need to update to a real shower.
Excellent. Had the best time and Allison Perlow at the Chase made the stay perfect. Thank you Allison
We had easter brunch there. The food was nice, tasted good and was displayed well. Truly surprised at the wonderful deviled eggs with beets in the filling. However you were allowed as many of the appetizers which included great cheese and tapas like bacon dates and small desserts at an outer table. You could choose one main from a menu choice. a menu choice was a nutella waffle Belgium which for $85.00 seemed very high. There was a meat entre prime rib which seemed more apropos. I am used to having more choices at a brunch for Easter for that type of price point for instance an omelet bar, a carving station, strata choice or a meat choice , sweet roll, muffin or kringle. They also had soup available .Dessert offered was nice macaroons, a few other choices in small petite dishes which worked well. I do understand prices for food now anywhere is frightful including the grocers even if wholesale but the meat and seafood did not work for me at this brunch. This was rated as one of the best brunches in St Louis and on thus note I felt a little conflated what was presented. Our room service, the gentlemen who helped up with our bags and stay was exemplary!!
Our room was directly by the elevator AND CONSTANT WHOOSING SOUND MUCH OF THE TIME. BUT THE ROOM ITSELF WAS VERY COMFORTABLE AND NICE . It was a busy Easter weekend and a very large ballroom dance event was there also and we felt we could not ask for a different room .
Lived up to its expectations. 4 Star on all accounts! Multiple restaurants, gym, pool, location is perfect, theater, barber…..etc, etc We stayed here for 3 nights while in town for a wedding. The valet, the bellman, the concierge were all top notch! The Tenderloin Steakhouse inside the hotel is 5 star with food, drinks and service all on top notch level. The Chase Club Bar & Restaurant had great food, but the service was so slow I was amazed they allowed this in this high end of an establishment. We’d sit at the bar and wait 10 minutes before we’d be waited on. We’d have to wave down bartenders or servers to get service and we’d feel guilty for other patrons who would sit empty for way too long! The Chase Club needs 3 more servers and at least 2 more bartenders to serve their clientele
Historic hotel with modern updating. Nice quiet lobby bar and other onsite food and drink choices and retail options (I thought the breakfast very very reasonable). Check-in was very friendly. I LOVE the history of the hotel and the location is also excellent.
Nothing at all.
The staff is outstanding, providing excellent service throughout my visit.
We only had a one night stay but thoroughly enjoyed it. Dining was excellent. We had lunch at the Chase Club and drinks/dessert at The Tenderloin Room - both were top notch. Great area for walking. Nice location across from gorgeous Forest Park.
Amazing stay at this fabulous hotel. Entire staff was first class. From checking in to checking out, it was a great stay. We stayed 6 nights, and they upgraded us to an apartment at no extra charge! Highly recommend the bar’s pizzas. Nearby Staub’s market is a great neighborhood grocery store and deli. Make sure to attend a Mass at the Basilica Cathedral right down the street.
Lacy made my experience a 10/10. Extremely great customer service!
Large comfortable and quiet room
Parking very expensive
Room was huge
Bathroom was tiny and the room had a musty smell. We had been told that the pool opened end of March early April and it was not open.
Excellent breakfast options.
It was very nice
The location and theme
Was a nice room, friendly staff.
Had to pay to park in the parking garage of the hotel.
My daughter and I stayed at the Chase Park Plaza for a weekend and it was wonderful. The property is in a great location near the Central West End and Forest Park. I was a little concerned with it being so close to the hospital complex and there being ambulance sirens, but there were none. The minute we walked into the lobby it felt very welcoming. We had a package that included self parking in the connected parking garage with in and out privileges; otherwise there is valet parking available. There is a resort fee but it includes a $15 credit towards a room service order which we used for breakfast each morning. The room we had was a one bedroom suite with a pull out sofa bed. The living area is spacious and well appointed, and the bed was very comfortable. The room was also very clean. I took a walk around the hotel and found that on the main floor there is a movie theater, a restaurant, a bar/pub and various ballrooms where they were holding what appeared to be a competition of some sort. There is also a pool and outdoor seating area which I'm sure is very nice in the summer- but alas, it was not open yet when we went. All in all, it was a very nice stay. The only thing lacking was a microwave in the room. There is a fridge, and a microwave would have made it complete to warm up left overs that we had. Other than that, everything was great! I highly recommend the Chase Park Plaza if you are looking for a nice, quiet place to stay near the heart of St Louis/Central West End.
We have never stayed here before. Absolutely would recommend to anyone. Quiet ,clean, pet friendly, movie theater on site, elegant. Perfect for a wedding. Breathtaking view of the banquet floor. City view. Banquet food was best I've ever had!
Exceptional Stay at the Royal Sonesta – Truly Impressive From three days before my arrival in St. Louis to my final moments at checkout, my stay at the Royal Sonesta was truly excellent. This was my second visit, as this is an annual trip for me, and the experience exceeded my expectations once again. After my stay last year, I signed up for their membership program, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that my reservation had been upgraded—or perhaps enhanced in some way. I’m not entirely sure which, but the suite I received this year was absolutely beautiful. While last year’s room may have been slightly larger, this one felt just as luxurious and thoughtfully designed. A few days prior to arrival, the hotel reached out via text to ask if I had any special requests. That personal touch immediately stood out. Upon check-in, I was warmly welcomed, my room was ready, and everything was seamless. When I entered my suite, I was genuinely impressed—it featured a sitting area, desk, separate bedroom, and a spacious walk-in closet in addition to a coat closet. Even more impressive, the front desk had already noted and fulfilled my preferences: a bathtub, proximity to the elevators, and a high floor. After settling in, I requested a high chair to do my hair and makeup, and within 15 minutes, they delivered a director’s chair—completely above and beyond what I expected. Every request I made, including those via text, was handled promptly and graciously. The hotel itself is stunning—elegant, upscale, and connected to high-end residences. There is an abundance of attentive staff, two excellent restaurants, and even a charming old-time movie theater inside the hotel. Just next door is a fantastic grocery and deli, which adds even more convenience. An amazing hotel experience from start to finish. I look forward to returning again next year.
This hotel was fantastic. The staff were helpful and always friendly. Would recommend to anyone for a great place to stay in St Louis.
It’s a beautiful hotel with warm and friendly people who work there. i went with my family and we requested rooms near each other and the staff could not have been nicer. It’s a beautiful hotel with a great location.
What a lovely historic hotel! It’s our first time here, and we’ll definitely be back. Highly recommend! We stayed here for the MSS event and had a great experience overall. The front desk Caitlyn, Chloe and Adriana helped us a lot during our stay. They are super nice, very helpful and truly welcoming. They helped us checkout today and never hesitated with any of our requests! Their hospitality really stood out and made us feel taken care of. When we arrived, the AC in our room wasn’t working very well, which was a bit frustrating. However, the front desk team quickly assisted us, and in the end everything worked out smoothly. We are really appreciated their effort and responsiveness. Thank you again for the excellent service, it made our stay much more enjoyable!
This is a beautiful, historic hotel in a great location. The conference facilities were fantastic. What really made the trip was Panela, the concierge. On two separate occasions, she went above and beyond to assist me. It is rare to see such a personal touch and it truly made my stay memorable.
I always stay here when I go to St Louis. The hotel is well decorated and high quality, not a gilded facade like most places. Above all the staff is second to none. They are always welcoming and friendly to all guests.
Beautiful hotel, attentive staff.
Very slow elevators, large private events during week nights.
I was amazed at my 1st time experience at the Royal Sonesta Chase Park. It really was home away from home. I loved how clean everything was from when I entered the lobby to how fast & efficient the check in was. Adriana & Caitlyn both had vast knowledge of the hotel so I was able to find my way around and they acknowledged my platinum status. I also wanted to give a shout out to the bellman Michael. He was always available to help with my luggage. Every time I went to Preston Ms. Ashley made me feel like I was a VIP and not to mention our waiter Greg. He was able to provide a level of service that made me want to go back! I want to go back soon in the summer when the pool is open.
Historic, Location, friendly & helpful staff.
The Chase was a great spot for our recent 4-night stay. The huge, rambling property has been beautifully renovated in a kind of midcentury-meets-Hollywood-glam style that reminded me of Jonathan Adler’s aesthetic, quirky yet timelessly chic. Our double-queen room was super quiet and comfortable. Though we both prefer softer pillows than the huge ones on the beds, that’s just us (since fat pillows now seem to be standard everywhere). Also, the big bathroom didn’t have enough towel bars, which seemed odd considering that it was the size of a NYC studio, and the tub was a bit slippery. We enjoyed two copious breakfasts in The Preston and tasty snacks in the Chase Club. The Central West End location is very appealing—across from Forest Park and near many shops and restaurants. We would most definitely stay here again.
Stayed in a room next to the elevator and we could hear it the entire night.
Beautiful
Nothing
Fantastic service. Comfortable bed. Had dinner at the Preston and had the Preston catch which was excellent. Gym in the lower level was much larger than a typical hotel gym with a ton of equipment. Would definitely come back
The staff is always great and the onsite amenities include several restaurants and bars and casual to sit down meals. The pool is amazing and the movie theater is great to get a few hours with the kids away. A real destination place to go!

I cannot say enough wonderful things about working with Bonnie. From start to finish, she has been absolutely spectacular. Bonnie consistently goes above and beyond to make sure every detail is handled with care, professionalism, and genuine kindness. In an industry where communication and reliability matter so much, she truly stands out. She is incredibly responsive, solutions-oriented, and always willing to step in and help — even during high-pressure situations or last-minute changes. Her attention to detail and commitment to guest experience make such a difference, and it never goes unnoticed. It is an absolute pleasure partnering with a hotel who cares so deeply about our shared clients and the people she works alongside. Bonnie makes every collaboration seamless, and I genuinely look forward to continuing to work together in the future. Highly recommend!!!!
Comfortable large suite, great location in Central West End, helpful, friendly staff, and tasty room service breakfasts. A lovely stay.
We got a corner room with great views. Parking/Valet was exceptional. Efficient staff when we arrived.
Construction around the hotel.
Classy
Expensive.
Loved the hotel and location. So many amenities in the hotel that we loved.
The $50 parking fee was a surprise.

Stayed in this hotel twice recently. A histrionic property with newly and beautiful renovation. Service staffs are super nice, friendly and willing to take extra effort to satisfy the customers. Also, it is the walking distance from central west end where many nice restaurants and from BJC/Wash U medical center. Highly recommended!
Historic, elegant hotel set the stage for our family wedding. Although old, hotel was immaculately clean in rooms and events. The biggest surprise was the outstanding staff throughout the hotel. From the front desk, consierge, restaurants, room service, housekeeping and wedding events, all details were handled with friendliness and professionalism. Because of the staff, the Chase Plaza stood out above other elite hotels I have visited.
Location and beautiful Christmas decorations!
Decorated wonderfully for the holidays.
Nothing
Someone came out the moment I arrived and the check in process was very smooth. The hotel was decorated above and beyond for Christmas and the many restaurants and movie theater really made it feel like more than a hotel (which makes sense because it shares a breezeway with an apartment building). The neighborhood was very walkable with a handful of small shops and restaurants. Everything felt very safe. Beds are very comfortable and the black out curtains don't have any gaps. Also, there were plenty of toiletries provided.
The carpet in the guest rooms is old fashioned and plush. The toilet in the bathroom sits very low to the ground. The hairdryer did not have a straightening attachment.
Iconic landmark hotel in a charming neighborhood.
Absolutely nothing! Loved it!
Location is within walking distance of grocery stores, restaurants, and local shops. Valet is $50/day, self park is $40/day. On-site restaurants are great, steakhouse was excellent but very expensive. Decorated beautifully during Christmas. There is an onsite small Starbucks but we didn’t use, there’s a normal Starbucks just 5 min away. Only negatives were no full length mirror in the room, only mirror was behind sink in bathroom, and construction noise next door to hotel.
I believe the Chase was remodeled at some point. We lived staying here. King Suite is fantastic, with lots of room. Keurig in room, big tub, big walk in closet. Hotel superbly decorated for the holidays. Very good breakfast off the menu, fun bar and Excellent Tenderloin Room restaurant.
Put a dimmer switch over the wall buffets in the Tenderloin Room! It’s a bit too bright along the walls.

Attended a wedding in StL with the Chase Park Plaza as the host hotel. Very nice and luxurious, at a reasonable price! We hadn’t stayed there for a while; it’s been nicely redecorated.
This is a historic yet luxurious hotel with all the things one could hope for! First, the staff is so friendly and professional. The lobby is very impressively designed. There are multiple options to dine on site. It has an attached parking garage. It located right next to beautiful Forest Park, where you can find the St. Louis Zoo and Art Museum and lots of trails to walk. The astounding Basilica Cathedral of St. Louis is just a couple blocks away, within walking distance. There is an outdoor pool that looks lovely, although I didn't get to enjoy due to time of year. The room was just beautiful, and I slept like a baby, so peaceful and quiet. A nice surprise was that they upgraded us to a King Suite, so I really felt pampered! I am looking forward to my next visit.
