Good location and garden

I stayed for 3 nights and I have ordered afternoon tea and there was some hair on my cake! I told them and they apologised and said that this is on the house and come tomorrow for a free complementary afternoon tea so you do not leave upset. I did not go back since I do not trust that they are clean, especially with the dining room bad smell all the day. Today I checked out and they decided to charge me GBP 61! And then say that there are no record that states that the manager told you that your tea is on the house! The only positive thing about this hotel is their location in front of the lake. Rooms, washrooms, and dining room all smell bad and old. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here.

The room and breakfast was nice. The breakfast was a bit pricey £20.00 per person but it was a buffet so you could get what you wanted and they did have everything for a breakfast.

I had to wait a fair while to be served at the bar. There was one else around and number of staff walked past me. I eventually had to stop one of the staff to serve me.

Exceptional views and very big and comfortable rooms

We had a suite with a view of the lake which was very nice. A very comfortable lounge area with large televisions

These rooms only have an overhead shower over the bath. There was no handle to hold to help get into the shower and the bath was slippery. The switch for the shower was behind the shower head which meant we could not turn it on to warm up without getting wet Breakfast was buffet style but we were not informed that we could request poached or boiled eggs and only found out when we heard someone else ordering them.

Bathroom was a joke.. made airline toilets look spacious, had to side shuffle onto the toilet and put head it the handbasin while sitting, my 80 year old mother really struggled with it

The location, the features and the views

How tatty the room was, peeling paint on windows, paint peeling off bathroom ceiling over the bath so didn’t want to use this. False eyelashes on the sofa, stains on furniture. Lack of plugs near the bed. Scuff marks on skirting boards, walls and doors. Expected more for the money.

I loved everything about the hotel

It is extremely close to the jetty or pier of Lake Windermere with a back door that leads you there easily. Lots of Thai food around the place with a Tesco Express Convenience store nearby. Easy to drive to Ambleside and Keswick.

The reason we chose The Belsfield is because they have an elevator. We do not want to lug our luggage up the stairs because of our bad back. But between the lift to the rooms, there were quite a few steps up and down between the lift to the rooms. When we arrived, someone was there to help us with the luggage but when we checked out on the last day morning at 7:30am, there was no one to help us. So something to consider.

The hotel is beautifully located and offers a lovely view of the lake.

There was some noise from people moving through the corridors and using the bathrooms in the adjacent room. Additionally, the restaurant supervisor’s performance during breakfast could be improved.

Location is amazing! The hotel is situated overlooking Lake Windermere, the view is stunning! The staff were all lovely and very helpful. Breakfast was a good variety, from full cooked to continental, all self serve.

The room key didn't work properly, twice I had to go back to reception for them to sort it out. There was a strange smell in my room (musty type) which they put down to the works being done. Booking dot com price doesn't include breakfast, that's an additional £20 per person

It is very over priced and we feel that this reflected the removation work being completed. Drinks vere very expensive. Breakfast buffet area was too crowded. No table cloths on tables or service of tea and coffee, which I would expect in a hotel if this standard.

Perfect location lovely reception, bar area and food areas. The staff made our stay they were all so helpful polite and friendly. Ian was very polite and helpful Ashley on reception very helpful Taylor and Moses were also great behind the bar, polite and friendly. Didn’t get all staff names but all were brilliant.

When it said “garden view,” I was expecting more of a view of the gardens, but it was really more of a view of the trees. It was a shame that there were renovation works taking place during our stay, although this is understandable if it’s part of improving the hotel. They have done their best to make the area look as presentable as possible, with the temporary fencing.

My only critism was we never booked a lake view.

We wasn't aware at the time of booking that there was maintance/improvement works being carried out. This resulted in our view form the bedroom being a pile of rubble, the dining area you was unable to view the lake due a large fence panel. As we booked via booking.com they now charge £15 for car parking which they haven't done previously

The hotel itself is beautiful and in an excellent location, and overall we enjoyed many aspects of our stay. I would especially like to thank Philip, who was extremely kind, welcoming and helpful. He is an excellent example of genuine hospitality and professionalism. Unfortunately, our check-in experience with Ashley was extremely disappointing and completely different. From the very beginning, instead of welcoming us or trying to clarify the situation calmly, Ashley told us that because we had a child with us, he would cancel our reservation. His manner and tone were unnecessarily rude and confrontational. He later changed his position and said that we would have to pay an additional charge for the child. To be very clear, the additional payment was never the issue. I fully respect the hotel’s policies and had no problem paying any legitimate additional charge. In fact, we had already emailed the hotel before our arrival with the names of the guests and specifically mentioned the child. What disappointed me was the way we were treated. I explained to Ashley that I respected the hotel and its policies, but that as arriving guests I expected basic courtesy, a welcome, and a professional explanation of any issue, rather than immediately being told that our reservation would be cancelled. Instead of trying to resolve the situation professionally, his response became even more confrontational, again essentially suggesting that if we were unhappy, our booking could simply be cancelled. I found this attitude surprisingly rude and completely inappropriate for someone dealing with guests at a hotel of this standard. This is especially unfortunate because the hotel itself is lovely, the location is excellent, and our experience with Philip demonstrated exactly the kind of warmth and professionalism we expected. Hospitality is not about ignoring hotel policies. It is about communicating those policies respectfully and professionally.

Breakfast was what you’d expect from a hotel. Usual food but the coffee machine made awful coffee. Shower was wonderful and toiletries nice. Hotel entrance foyer was a wow factor and bar area and lounge was nice and comfortable Adequate parking even though it was £15pn Found out that if you book direct then parking is free 😡Only a few mins walk to all the shops, restaurants etc.

Quite a of actually Had booked a “cosy” room(17) so wasn’t expecting palatial but found we were in probably the worst room in the hotel. If there’s any thing worse then they should be ashamed. It was tucked away through the dining room away from the main hotel and we were warned that works were ongoing and they had erected a huge fence to hide the mess. Never saw any work happening but our room was at the other side of the fence and our view was disgusting piles of rubble. Also flats overlooked us so we couldn’t put the light on or they could see us clearly. Voile curtains are needed for some privacy. We had to shut the heaviest curtains I have ever seen when we were in the room for privacy When it gets colder how the radiator would heat a room through these curtains is a mystery as it was behind them.Another bugbear was the letter given to us to say that our room wasn’t to be serviced as we were staying less than three days but if we wanted it done to let them know. I’m quite capable of making a bed and hanging towels up but what really annoyed me was that the coffee and milk was used up first night. I’m not one to be demanding so we didnt ask for more. Cups had to get washed by us and glasses too. Never had this kind of non service ever in any hotel we’ve stayed in. We managed to dry towels on the heated rail in bathroom. Would not stay in this room in winter as it was cold. We booked dinner first night and food was nice although “brasserie” was basic with old wooden tables and no tablecloths. Thought a hotel of this calibre would have made dinner more of a thing. Needless to say we went out second night.

اولاً بشاشة الموظف تشارلي والتشيك ان كان سريع وجميل وشرح لنا وش نقدر نسوي في ويندرمير ماقصر وبرضو في سيارة للفندق بي ام دبليو توديكم اذا في مجال والموظف موجود لوسط المدينة ( فقط في بونس خارجها لا يعني مايشمل محطة القطار) ثانياً الموقع جداً جميل قدامك البحيرة وحجز الكروز وبعض القهاوي ومحلات الايس كريم وفي موقف باصات والاطلاله جددددا رائعه، غرفتنا كانت غرفة رقم 66 اتوقع انها كانت الافضل انصحكم فيها وكبيرة ووسيعه واطلالتها حلوه. ثالثاً الافطار كان عادي لكن مو سيئ يعني فيه الاساسيات ويتكرر يومياً نفسه ومن 8 الى 10 الوقت محدود جداً رابعاً المويه كانت من الحنفيه دايركت، مويه البحيره

اللي ما اعجبني النظافه ماكانت ذاك الزود يعني اول مادخلنا الغرفه حصلنا اكثر من عنكبوت كبير وينزل من الستاره ويصعد 😅، الأصنصير مو عملي ابد قبل ماتدخل في بابين حديد تفتحهم يدوي واذا طلعت تسكرهم بعدك ( لو ماسكرتهم زين بعدك خلاص ماعاد ينزل ويصعد لأحد)

Unfortunately we feel the hotel has gone down in recent months. Toilets were not clean, the room was very basic and certainly not value for money at £255. We married at the hotel in 2024 which was beautiful , we were made to feel special on our 1st anniversary however, for our 2nd this august there was no thought or care sort from some old plastic rose petals on the bed . Very sad and disappointing, we are hoping the hotel improves soon.

قبل الدخول يطلب تامين مبلغ تقريبا 500 إلى 1000 تقريبا والإفطار ليس مجاني بل يستقطعه من قيمة التامين الافطار الله يعز النعمه افطرت لمدة يومين واخذ 500 ريال واغلب الاكل حرام أصناف معينة حلال لا انصح بالإفطار والفندق يقفل بدري ويطفى الانوار ولا حولك اي خدمات ولا أسواق قريبة امن نفسك قبل السكن لا تطول في هذه القرية لانها حدها يوم او يومين وبعدها ما تنفع

Very convenient to the shoreline

Breakfast was a little disappointing.

The property has potential, lobby is beautiful .. view and location are amazing.. and some staff members like Paul were willing to assist when concerns were raised. Unfortunately, however, the overall experience fell far below what we expected for the amount paid.

Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing stay. We were travelling as a family and expected connected rooms, but we were only informed after the full amount had already been deducted, seven days before our stay, that the rooms were not connected. We requested to cancel the booking or receive a refund, but this was refused. The cleanliness was also not at the standard expected for the price. The rooms appeared to be organised and tidied, but there was clearly a lack of proper deep cleaning. We found blueberries underneath the sofa and immediately informed the manager Sarah. She acknowledged that this was unacceptable, yet the blueberries were still there and had not been removed by the time we left. Most disappointing of all was the attitude of some members of staff. Their behaviour was extremely rude and made our stay uncomfortable. We did not feel that our preferences, privacy or peace were respected, and at times it felt as though our concerns simply did not matter. For a property charging this level of price, we expected respectful, professional and genuinely customer-focused service

All fur coat and no knickers! We stayed in two rooms for two nights for my husband’s 50th birthday and were incredibly disappointed. The reception gives a beautiful first impression, but our rooms were tired, grubby and badly in need of refurbishment, with cracked sinks/walls and deteriorating finishes. I appreciate the hotel is undergoing refurbishment, but guests should be told if they're paying premium prices for rooms that haven't yet been refurbished. We also experienced late-night noise and swearing, woke to pizza boxes left on cars, and saw dirty plates and leftover food left outside attracting seagulls. Breakfast was equally disappointing – a dull, tired room, a tiny overcrowded food area and a coffee machine apparently connected to a water container sitting on a table hidden by a curtain. The General Manager did subsequently respond to our concerns, which I appreciate, but overall this simply did not feel like a 4-star experience. Beautiful location and reception, but behind that, sadly shabby, tired and poorly managed. At these prices, The Belsfield needs to look at the standards being delivered by other genuine 4-star hotels. Definitely all fur coat and no knickers.

We booked a stay at this hotel for my husband's 70th birthday and our wedding anniversary. I booked a family room as the rooms on the website looked lovely. I phoned the hotel before the stay to let them know that it was a special occasion, requesting a room with a view. They said that they did not have a room with a view available but would ensure that we had a nice room. On arriving at the hotel, our room (with shabby chairs) looked onto renovations and a large mound of earth. We went to reception and asked for a change of room and were informed that we would be moved the next day. This did not happen. We were then informed that we had received a communication regarding the renovations and that there was information regarding it on the confirmation e-mail for both ours and our daughter's separate booking. This was not the case. No explanation or compensation was offered to us and the person at the desk (the manager, I believe) was curt and rude in his manner. The dining room is shabby and the service minimal (I had to make my own toast when I requested eggs on toast). We had to wait 40mins for a pre-booked afternoon tea. I sent a communication to the hotel afterwards and received no follow-up. My advice to you is do not stay in this over-priced hotel. It was a huge disappointment on a special occasion.

Very disappointing second visit nothing like it was a few years ago Room was tiny with a filthy window overlooking another building peeling paint and an overall smell of wet dog only added to my discomfort Breakfast was poor machine coffee awful with scummy foam on top Plastic fried eggs been cooked a while ago no fresh option and exacerbated by guests touching bread and pastries with hands not tongs yuk! Lots of crying toddlers I could have joined in ! Building work going on but contained behind a fence and not intrusive Menu poor basic pub grub didn’t bother with that

Very comfortable beds! Lovely location

From the minute we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Our bags were brought in from the car for us (thanks to the person who helped….Philip?) and there was a lovely welcome card in the room to mark my birthday (a lovely touch). Our rooms were clean, very comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a great night’s sleep and a filling breakfast. The staff went over and above by being welcoming, attentive and thoughtful to any needs or questions we had before and during our stay. Thanks go to Diego, Charlie and Nick. Our family and friends group all really enjoyed our stay at The Belsfield and as soon as the opportunity arises, there will be no hesitation in booking again.

‏عدة أشياء لم تعجبني: 1- الجو كان حار وكان هناك مروحة واحدة صغيرة وطلبت مروحة أخرى وكان الرد لا يوجد إلا مروحة واحدة فقط وفي نفس الوقت أخي نزل في فندق ماكدونالد وأعطوه مروحة ومكيف صغير 2- قارورة الماء يجب أن نأخذها من تحت وعندما نأخذ القارورة تقول لي لك قارورة واحدة فقط في اليوم وانت اخذت هذه القارورة ولا يحق لنا طلب قارورة أخرى بهذا الجو الحال. 3- الكنب في غرفة الاولاد كان به بقع مما يثير الإشمئزاز 4- كنا جالسين بالدهة أمام الفندق وطلبنا قهوة وقالت لنا أن الكهرباء مقطوعة وبعد فترة وجدنا الطاولة بجانبنا أحضروا قهوة فاستغربت ودخلت فوجدت الكهرباء رجعت ولا يتم أخبارنا ونحن ننتظر بالخارج وعندما أردت طلب قهوة قال لي يجب أن تدخل وتطلب القهوة وتأخذها معك للخارج خدمة جدا سيئة. 5- المناشف قليلة الشامبو قليل يجب الطلب من الاستقبال لأي شيء والنزول تحت وأخذ المناشف لا يوجد احد يوصل أي شيء للغرفة.

We stayed in a lake view room and the scenery was beautiful the garden in front of the hotel is lovely and a real bonus to have in lovely weather plus the addition of the spa and swimming pool will be amazing in the future our bed was extremely comfortable lovely linen and soft pillows the bar area is lovely and relaxing with a great atmosphere staff were very professional and friendly at the same time

Thought the furniture in the room was very old and definitely needs updating the bathroom needs modernising and the garden furniture needs renewing and made more comfortable

Whilst I appreciate that most hotels now have self service breakfast, I do think that for the price we should have been served tea and coffee at the table. There were no toiletries in the room, it would at the very least have been good to have a small bar of soap at the washbasin.

موقع الفندق ممتاز جداً قريب من كافة الخدمات وإطلالته ساحرة ، الموظفين ودودين جداً وخدومين لدرجة إنك تشعر وكأنك وسط عائلتك ابتداءً من موظفي الإستقبال وحتى موظفي البار واللاونج ، الغرفه رقم 50 إطلالتها ساحرة ومرتبة ونظيفة جداً ، أنصح بالإقامة فيه ولن أتردد للإقامة فيه مستقبلاً .

عدم وجود مناديل داخل الغرف فقط مناديل دورة المياة ، صغر حوض القمامة بدورة المياه كان يمتلىء من بداية اليوم أتمنى أن يوفروا أحواض أكبر في المستقبل

Very good location and nice to be able to walk out of the property and be right on the lake if you walk down the gardens. Food and drink was very nice only had snacks and coffee but was very nice as ate out each night so can’t comment on main dining room. Facilities are very clean.

£15 per night parking… if using booking.com. staff made to sound as if it’s free when checking in as taking registration and nothing more said until check out then they tell you have to pay for parking. Also told by staff on checking out it’s cheaper to book direct with hotel and discount available and no parking fees?

For my wife’s 80th I booked a lake view double room. We were disappointed in the room, it had lake view over a building site and large hole, plus a large grey fence. It did not reflect the photo of the room, which is big con. I asked to be moved in a room which I had paid for. However because I had booked and paid via Booking. Com there are no options. However the room was clean, and the staff friendly. But be aware the corridors in the hotel are very noisy. There isn’t an EV charging point. The evening menu is limited. The breakfast is buffet and you are watched over by the staff to ensure you don’t take too much or make a mess. There is no daily room service. Unless you book your room service between 9am to 5pm. I would not book at this hotel again

I didn’t get the room I had paid for. We very very disappointed. The room had a lake view via a small window over building site and large hole and large fence because we had booked via Booking. Com we couldn’t change, we also had to pay for parking if we had booked direct the parking is free. The evening menu was limited, breakfast buffet we were watch so that we didn’t take to much or make a mess. We felt that we were con’ed. The corridors were very noisy, with doors banging at all hours. No room service unless you booked it. I was charged £100 deposit which is yet to be returned. As It was my wife’s 80th birthday so we made the best of it!!

The location was fantastic, the masion designs and finishes was gorgeous.

Sadly we experienced water pouring into the room onto the bed from the ceiling at 22 30. By midnight we were relocated to another hotel with all our belongings. Returned to the Belsfield for breakfast.Following very weak apologies from Sarah and Charlie we chose to abandon our stay celebrating my wife’s 80th birthday ruined.

Stayed in a beautiful palace. All expectations met. Staff magnificent- especially Charlie

‎ * الموظفين جدا متعاونين .. اخذو مني عربيه الطفل وحفظوها عندهم واخذو الشنط وصلوها لنا للغرف وكانت موظفه الاستقبال متبسمه ولطيفه ‎* النظافه اعجبتني .. اثناء اقامتي انتبهت ان كان فيه اسره تتطلع من احد الغرف الي امام غرفتي وكنت اسمع صوت تكنيس فحسيت ان عمال النظافه يشتغلون بذمه وللامانه ماشفت اي ملاحظات سلبيه ‎ * الفطور مو شي كثير ومتنوع ولكنه عملي تلاقي الي يعجبك احد الموظفين مغربي الله يسعده ويوفقه دلني على الحلال والحرام ووضح اي اطباق مو حلال .. وشيء جميل انتباه الموظف لأي شخص يفتح الطبق ويخليه مفتوح بانه على طول يغلقه وينبّه باغلاقه وباستخدام الملاعق الخاصه بدل ان يستخدم النزيل يده عشان ياخذ شي من صنف مشترك بيننا وهذه اجمل وانظف حاجة لان تتطمن وانت تاكل ان فيه شخص حريص ان اكلك يكون نظيف ‎* الموقع جدا جميل .. قريب من البحيره ويقدر الشخص ينزل ياخذ قارب بالاضافه انه قريب من محطه فيها باص مفتوح يمشيكم بقرى قريبه ويرجعكم وسعره جميل..

* ‎الغرف الي فيها اطلاله حدايق داخليه اسالو بتوفر مصعد او لا لان اتذكر مالقيته ولكني ماسالت عنه * المصعد ضيق شوي مايتحمل الا شخصين (استخدمته للغرف الي كانت باطلاله على البحيره * الفطور وقته من الساعه 8-10 وقت ضيق بصراحه * اعتقد يوجد طريقين لنزلة للبحيره وهذا شي جميل ولكن احدها شوي متعب لان الفندق مرتفع والدرج مبين مستوي ولكن لمن تضع قدمك تحس بتعرج وعدم توازن خفيف ولكن يتعب خاصه لو تحملون اغراض او احدكم كبير سن او معاكم طفل * ماشفت مناديل "فاين" فالغرف يوجد بالحمام تكرمون ولكن الغرف مافيها فاين وانا ماسالت ولا طلبت بصراحة فممكن الواحد يجيب معاه او يسال * لا يوجد علب مويه بالغرفه ولكن توجد لافته تقول انهم يشجعون شرب الماء من الصنبور لانه جاي من البحيره .. ممكن تشوفها سلبيه او ايجابيه حسب تفكيرك بالنسبه لي كانت سلبيه * حجزت ثلاث غرفنا تمنيت نكون قريبين من بعض ولكن كنا بعيدين بادوار مختلفه

Location was very good

Very poor menu choices for the evening, more like a pub menu than a hotel that is meant to be 4 star. Also one of the windows in our room was stained / dirty despite highlighting this once we had book in nothing was done. Given we booked the room for a lake view this was not good. Also there were AC controls in the room but it did not work

Amazing location and view, rooms are very clean and neat.

Noise for repairs at 8:00 am without warning, WiFi disconnects a lot, insects inside the room.

Hotel was the perfect location, amazing views and the room was absolutely beautiful. Staff were amazing and really helpful with everything and personable with my child.

Beautiful hotel, very impressive on arrival. Polite and friendly staff and served a very good breakfast. The hotel has a great bar and reception area as well as some quaint seating areas. However the gardens rooms were not as we expected, not part of the main hotel, and almost like an extension attached to the main building. With no pictures in the corridors, and just bare walls, it actually felt quite neglected compared to the rest of the beautifully decorated hotel. The room itself was nice and spacious with a patio door to outside seating but sadly the bathroom let it down. The toilet button was broken, the towel rail fell off each time we reached for a towel, and there was mould around the edge of the bath. Pretty poor for a hotel of this standard. We also felt a £15 a day car parking fee pretty poor. Saying this the hotel is in a prime position right opposite the lake and we did enjoy our stay. For anyone with a visit booked shortly please note the hotel garden is also having major works completed but it has been sectioned off quite nicely and no work was carried out whilst we were there so no disruptions to guests.

Yes we could see the lake and the building rubble as work was being done to build a spa. It was a hot day in July 26 and the rooms don't have bottles of water just an empty fridge. There is an environmental notice saying to save the planet please drink from the tap. If you actually want water you have to contact reception who provides you with bottles of water. Would of been nice to have cold water available in the fridge given the heat. The room had an aircon control which could not be set below 18° so was basically pointless in the hot room. Bathroom was tired, dirty and shower tray was held together by duct tape! Mould and limescale in shower and bath too... see my pictures! Wallpaper was ripped and dust and cobwebs around the room as well as stains on the furniture. I don't like to leave negative reviews however when paying nearly £300 for one night you expect better.

Dirty, mold waste of money.

The position was ideal to all amenities and the lake . Hotel was lovely and well maintained . There is some renovations being done , but did not interfere with the ambience of the hotel.

We didn’t like the way you had to request your room to be made up. Due to low staffing, if you wanted drinks on the terrace/lawn you had to go to the bar and wait, sometimes a long time for service.

We had an amazing 2 night stay at the Belsfield for a celebration weekend. The hotel is lovely, spotless and has an amazing view overlooking Bowness-on- Windermere. We were a large party who hired out a private function room which was everything we could ask for and more, would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a stunning venue in the lakes. All staff were extremely friendly and accommodated to our every ask, special shout out to Sarah, Charlie and Ashley who made coordinating a large party of us super easy and welcoming! Overall we had an amazing stay and will definitely be returning. Would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing and friendly stay in the lakes!
