Everything. A beautiful hotel, in gorgeous grounds, lovely staff and very clean. The breakfast was very excellent.
Nothing
Location was lovely. Loved the little juice shots
Some of the items on the menu were a little overcooked but at the same time not hot enough. Maybe sitting around once cooked?
Excellent location friendly staff
I love a visit to rhinefield house hotel. It is peaceful and relaxing
Bed was too hard for us, and room was quite dark but I did take my little dog so understand you can’t have the best rooms with dogs. It didn’t spoil our holiday and will be back
The location is beautiful as is the exterior of the building, room was a good size and bed comfortable.
The hotel was generally not as clean as I would expect. Staff are good on a personal level polite and friendly, however, tables slow to be cleared/ignored. Outside tables had full ashtrays at 11:30am that were left even after chairs straightened.
Lovely location and building. All the staff were friendly and attentive. Overall a great hotel to stay in to visit the new forest
Service charges
Beautiful surroundings and gardens
Fairly tired and in need of an overhaul
The in general were very good, especially the breakfast room staff, and Armada staff.
It's a Spa hotel, but the spa facilities were out of action indoors, with no upfront notifications !!
Staff
Dirty outdated bathrooms and advertising vegan menu online which did not exist
Amazing setting and location! The staff was fantastic, breakfast and dinner were superb.
Air conditioning had an error message, fan provided but not very effective.
Wonderful setting, super rooms, and very helpful staff. Evening meal was a great experience in the main dining room, beautifully cooked meal.
The cooked breakfast tasted great, but, was not warm enough which spoilt it. Lovely bar area, but, decor is looking worn.
Forest!
Staff very good
The buffet breakfast (that wasn’t good), which understand is being removed to return to a full cook to order table service breakfast only option. The Sauna has shut (since our previous visit) and I understand that is being returned also.
Beautiful location in the New Forest. The staff were amazing. All really friendly. Amazing breakfast. The hotel itself is full of history and you feel like royalty staying there.
Nothing
Location
Rooms were a bit corporate
The location in the middle of the forest was superb. The property itself was stunning with beautiful exterior and gardens.
The inside was a bit old and tired. For a four star property i expected better. Probably needs a renovation. The room is small and the bathroom tiny. Clean but old and tired
The gardens are stunning and the building is beautiful - lots of benches everywhere and the maze is fun. It’s in the perfect location. This really is a wonderful stay for a couple. And the spa treatments are worth the price. There was a wedding on one of the days - but we didn’t feel this impacted us whatsoever. Our trip was lovely - but it was 30 degrees the entire time and so we utilised the pool, gardens or off site. When I enquired before our stay, I was told that they don’t do anything for children that’s special / amenity. But actually, they do a turndown cookies and milk for evening, which was the main highlight for the kids. And then an arrival little package on bed and juice in the room mini bar. The hotel room amenities are plentiful with a wide choice of coffees, teas etc. Constantly cleaning and changing towels (all the cleaning staff were SO lovely and friendly). Easy to access / loads of car spaces.
There was limit flexibility on movement for children. The menu is not ideal for children (steak, fried stuff, tomato pasta with no protein etc). We kept asking for plain pasta & cheese and still charged full whack. We asked for children’s cutlery which they didn’t have. Most kids want simple food. We ended up going to Brockenhurst and bringing in simple lunch bits for them because they just wanted a simple option and were unable to rustle something up or deviate from the set menu. Felt the outdoor pool was tired - there were broken parts, the flooring surrounding the pool is damaged in parts. There was still all last year’s autumn leaves everywhere. With little effort it could improve. And there are only 8 sun loungers so on the hot days, it seemed silly that a hotel this size didn’t have more. That being said, the staff were going around for drinks / clean towels etc. They handed us a breakfast menu with a photo of a pancake to my daughter’s excitement and was told ‘we just use random photos, we don’t offer pancakes’ !
Charming hotel in beautiful grounds. Fantastic location with a wide range of walking and cycling routes on the doorstep.
Bathroom was tired and in need of modernisation.
Located in the middle of the forrest it was peaceful and superbly fitted out, we were in a fairly new extension, airco and nicely furnished. Super breakfast in an elegant dining room.
An awful lot of steps due to split levels, a feature of an ancient property but a challenge for the elderly. Wife was not keen on the unusual shower heads.
Beautiful setting. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Check-in staff and concierge were very pleasant and helpful.
Service was slow in the Conservatory on our first night. Some of the food served in the lounge/bar was disappointing. There was a wedding during our stay and it seemed as though staff resources were stretched.
The hotel is beautiful, we were lucky to experience some wonderful weather and spent some time around the outside pool, which was a great bonus. The staff are fantastic; breakfast is incredible- if you can think of it, you can have it. It's the perfect location for a bit of chill time and the setting is amazing. The perfect base to explore the New Forest.
Beautiful location, so much to see. Beautiful hotel, clean and plenty of room. Decent pool, warm and clean. Staff friendly and eager to help. Breakfast outstanding, in the stunning Armada room with plenty of freshly prepared food and great service. Really enjoyed our stay, in this very relaxing and nicely laid out hotel
Nothing at all to complain about. Grounds could have been a little more wheelchair/mobility scooter accessible.
Great breakfast Evening meal was great
No complaints
Beautiful setting -lovely old buildings with beautiful grounds. Perfect for a summer evening and the outdoor pool was a bonus as it was hot when we stayed
The bathroom in our room was a bit dated and room was on the small side
Excellent especially as dogs could be with us.
The building in beautiful and the breakfast staff were lovely. The pool was great.
Firstly- we called ahead to check that they had plenty of sunbeds with cushions. We were assured they did. (Having stayed before and found there was only about 2 we wanted to check in advance of this visit ). On this stay there were only 4 sunbeds with cushions- for a fully booked hotel in July. Of course they were occupied all day. There were 4 wicker chairs available but no cushions and you can’t lay down on a chair. Very disappointed- especially as we phoned ahead to ask and were told they have plenty. The air conditioning didn’t work in one of the rooms and we were gas lit by reception staff when we raised this. It was a heat wave and we booked a hotel with air conditioning for that reason. One room was cool, the other was not. There was no way of ordering drinks from the pool area, so we had to trapse back and forth to the bar in swimming clothes for each drink. Some lovely bar staff helped carry them back- but pool service would have been appreciated. It’s a beautiful location and the pool is nice- but not if you want to lounge by it all afternoon. You have a 4% chance of scoring a sunbed!
Pretty much everything
Could have had more choices of food & drink at the swimming pool tbh...
Beautifully located hotel, plentiful and good quality breakfast, stunning grounds with a bonus outdoor pool and tennis courts.
Evening food options were a little disappointing (menu limited, service a little slow). The pool area had very limited seating (we visited on a very sunny week).
Staff we’re lovely and went out of their way to help. Setting is beautiful
The outside pool is small and there are only 4 sun loungers although there are some table and chairs. The picture on line is representative. Lucas at the pool was v helpful and courteous.
Beautiful location
They ‘lost’ our booking (with booking.com) even though we had confirmation from booking.com. Eventually they found somewhere for us to stay but it was a real issue. - not of our making!! The breakfast was terrible. We were there at 10.00am. It finished at 10.30. There was no breakfast left - not even any clean plates or glasses.
Great location, a variety of seating areas inside and outside hotel and great food.
The cloakroom toilets in the basement smelt very damp. We liked the conservatory restaurant, but we thought that the interior was not the same standard as the rest of the hotel.
It was unique and beautiful. Staff were friendly and well mannered.
The receptionist who greeted us was not very clear with the information of the hotel. She mumbled her words but other than that was pleasant
Fantastic service
Menu was a little limited although what was served was very good - given the quality of the facilities, the bar, the great staff etc - I thought the menu could have been a little more adventerous.
Hotel and grounds very scenic and peaceful location.
Service was a bit slow on our first night due to technical issues.
Greta location and huge potential
It’s tired and the staff are overworked and not engaged enough.
Amazing place, very clean, comfy room, amazing dog friendliness
Staff attitude towards guests. I believe there should have been a wedding party, so morning breakfast gave a strong feeling of not being welcome and being pushed out...
The Rhinefield House hotel is situated in the middle of the New Forest, the grounds are stunning and vast. There are also some beautiful forest walks within walking distance of the hotel. Unfortunately, we didn’t leave ourselves enough time to experience the spa facilities. The staff on reception (Ly and Tom) were so lovely and friendly, really nice people and very helpful. The staff in the conservatory restaurant were also very pleasant to talk to.
There are a couple of minor things that stood out to us during our stay: 1) The bar area were short staffed which meant that we had a very long wait for our drinks (more than 30 minutes) 2) As part of our dinner in the conservatory, we had dessert. Although the desserts were very nice, the portion sizes were small and there wasn’t much to it in terms of the wow factor…. Definitely not worth the £9 each that we paid (sorry!)
Fabulous location, beautiful surroundings. Peaceful vibe.
Service quite slow, though staff very lovely
Fabulous location and a lovely hotel set in beautiful grounds. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
My only criticism: very slow outdoor terrace bar service at 5pm on a sunny afternoon when many people were wanting drinks outside and we were not able to order from the bar. We waited 20 mins and then had to go back to the bar to ask for service.
Grounds and outside space is lovely and there is plenty of it. This is great if you are there when it's warm and sunny. Approach is stunning as well. The quality internally is ok which reflects in it's multi-use history. Room was very nice although I have stayed in a lot of hotel rooms equally nice that weren't at such a premium. However it was a nice room
I think some of the staff may have been under a little pressure as bar staff with the exception of one lovely girl seemed a little grumpy or terse, but this may have just been our initial experience.
Nice facade and grounds. Bedrooms were big and beds were big and comfy.
Not enough loungers by the pool. Felt a little tired on the inside corridors. Staff were very friendly and accommodating but service was very slow.
Beautiful property in beautiful surroundings
Very slow bar service and evening restaurant service. Should have child-free times in the pool.
Beautiful grounds, spacious room, fab heated pool
The conservatory was too hot
Lovely place, really calm and good atmosphère.
The staff were exceptional , they were all attentive polite and friendly. The breakfast was very good and the overall was outstanding.
Nothing to complain about
Very well kept and grand
We don’t actually end up staying at the hotel,we couldn’t check in so went to the lounge bar waited 30 minutes and still hadn’t been served Went for a walk around, was going too use the pool but it was full with kids and we didn’t have room card so couldn’t get in anyway
Ausgezeichnetes Nachtessen in Armada Restaurant
Zimmer klein, ohne Charme, Niveau einer unteren amerikanischen Hotelkette
Stunning historic building and grounds. Just beautiful.
Beautiful location with great facilities
Sadly vandals attacked 7 cars left in the hotel car park - so the end to the break wasn’t great. The hotel helped me to clean away the broken glass and were very apologetic
Lovely hotel and outstanding location. Truly lovely staff (except for one)! Restaurant staff are lovely but not trained to watch tables. Ordered wine and water. Chased up wine but no water arrived, chased up water! Ordered fillet steaks but had to ask for steak knives. Eventually bread arrived, was served, then another waitress arrived with bread and looked then said oh you've got some! The table next to us asked for their new potatoes which should have been served! After dinner drinks 'told' to sit down and someone will be over! Guess what!! But the staff generally are lovely. The hotel suggests good service can be expected but sadly not. A training need and better allocation of staff to specific responsibilities with oversight would add real value to the guest experience. It really is about the basics!
See comments above.
Peaceful, lovely grounds, room clean and comfortable, staff friendly.
Nothing that I can think of
No AC so only slept 2 hours, large bed was 2 singles joined together,
A lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Breakfast was very good. The service was excellent. Our room was well equipped and very comfortable.
Nothing that could be done due to the hotel layout but a lot of stairs which my husband found difficult with his mobility issues. We felt the choice of food was a somewhat limited in the Conservatory restaurant.
Stunning building and grounds. The children loved the maze. The food was very nice, we had lunch, dinner and breakfast onsite. Great kids options for dinner, not just your usual nuggets. Room was as we expected, some nice touches for my wife birthday celebration were included. They did a cookies and milk service in the evening which went down well. Staff were helpful and polite.
The pool was a bit cold, even though we were told it was heated. On the first night the children’s food didn’t come out at the same time as ours, it took longer and we’d almost finished. At the breakfast, the pain au chocolats smelt like ham.
The location
Needs TLC
Amazing setting. Beautiful building and grounds. Really friendly and helpful staff Lovely food.
Only issue was very noisy people staying in room near ours who kept us awake until early morning. Was a shame as this was first night away for years without kids so we were looking forward to uninterrupted sleep! The food and the service other than that were great though.
Absolutely beautiful inside and out. The location is stunning. The staff are also so helpful and welcoming.
Dinner for 4 in the Armada Room was delightful and very beautifully served.
Nothing comes to mind
its beautiful and romantic, large open friendly and peaceful. gardens are amazing, staff amazing and so many stories and information around the hotel. was a pure delight and made are 1st wedding anniversary a very memorable one. the food was so good we plan to go there more often.
that we only had a one night stay. and the ground works outside but that can't be helped as needs to be done. when inside or the main gardens could hardly notice
Decided to have the first evening meal in the conservatory - very poor and poor value for money Breakfast a different world with good service and food
Meal in the conservatory
Nice setting and comfortable rooms
The room smelt slightly of smoke
Beautiful grounds. The house was so interesting and the new wing was very comfortable
The restaurant was very I keeping with the property but could have done with more lighting to show off the features. Out mistake but should have found out how far the bedroom was from the other facility’s as my husband found the walk hard.
Loved everything about this hotel. Beautiful grounds, fantastic staff and luxurious facilities.
Beautiful building
Like a nursing home
Staff were exceptional on one of the hottest days of the year.
Having stayed at Rhinefield last year with my daughter and being so impressed, I returned this year with my husband and high expectations. The staff on both occasions cannot be faulted, their service is second to none, always polite and efficient, but little enhancements were missing, for example in the room, Last year a super welcoming package of a basket of goodies, cocktails and a fridge filled with various treats. This year two bottles of water. The food was good but not excellent as expected. We were moved to different locations for breakfast, and the buffet style was disappointing. The delightful Alhambra Room sadly was not available for an evening meal. The empty flower beds in the grounds need some attention. Fortunately the weather was good which enabled us to spend time on the beautiful terrace. All in all a pleasant stay but not one I would repeat.
As I said above, it was a shame the hotel had made changes since my last stay as the changes were not for the better. I was looking forward to my 2nd stay however I will not be returning for a 3rd time.
Hizo mucho calor y humedad.
Staff, food, setting
Breakfast was served rather than buffet. Very good quality.
Superb hotel in a stunning location. I am sure that there are similar hotels like Rhinefield House Hotel but what made it stand out was the attention for detail and the little things. For example, we could order milk and cookies for the kids that would be brought to our room at the desired time. We took our Labrador and in the room there was a soft dog bed, with 2 bowls and a bag of dog biscuits. The room was big enough with quality bedding and was very clean. We stayed in room Azalea which has a view on the forest. The bathroom has its own TV installed in the wall, and the shower is unique and very powerful. The grounds are simply stunning, the hotel has an enormous garden and its own maze, and we spotted deer in the evening. We enjoyed a lovely drink outside on the patio next to the fountain and it was just lovely. I already booked our room for October!
We loved everything about our stay.
Stunning hotel in beautiful surroundings. Staff and service were impeccable. Excellent food and wines. A truly magnificent stay with friends and family. Facilities first class. Highly recommend.
Absolutely nothing!
Fantastic overall vibe of the hotel, the location is in a quaint part of New Forest. The hotel territory is very well maintained. Breakfast was amazing, the staff is absolutely lovely.
The bathroom in our room could use a bit of maintenance.
Very beautiful property
Step free access for babies
History
Rooms bit dates with plasticky furnishings
Great location and stunning building.
Limited leisure facilities. Outdoor pool only which was fine for this trip on a hot June day, but not great if you visit at different to Me of year.
The choice of breakfast was excellent. A broad mix of things. The setting was beautiful Staff were kind and helpful Loved the facility of the outdoor pool
Maybe a little virtual tour for disaled people with regards facilities for disabled people so that informed choices can be made when booking
Location facilities ambience
Nothing
Beautiful grounds - very peaceful setting
Nothing in particular
Fantastic location and the property and grounds were beautiful. The rooms were very comfortable and all the services there were maintained to a very good standard. Beds extremely comfortable and having 2 armchairs in the room was a real bonus.
Whilst the food was excellent, the breakfast was terribly disorganised and the staff couldn’t seem to cope one morning when many guests arrived together. There didn’t appear to be anyone managing the young staff. We didn’t feel enough of the basic food was put out on the buffet table and sometimes ran completely out. The food in The Conservatory in the evening had a very limited menu and service could be quite slow at times due to only one person being on duty. Whilst the bar/lounge was lovely, the property is in desperate need of the use of a quiet second lounge. There was another room used for functions which you could go in when free but had a cold feeling and no atmosphere. Shame this couldn’t be turned into a cosy reading room!
The cleanliness of the room &hotel was exceptional the food in the restaurant was fantastic the waiting staff were very attentive & always asked about food intolerances & were very friendly & helpful the grounds are very well kept & lovely to walk round as well as the local forest walks we had a lovely stay & will most definitely be back sometime
There didn't seam to be any toilets near restaurants couldn't see any any & the TV s could do with being updated to smart tvs as there's not many channels
Location , grounds
It needs some tender loving care
Very good. Staff professional
The bar staff on Thursday evening not attentive. Had to order bar snakes at least twice. Ordered drinks then after 5 minutes that ask us again what drinks we ordered. More training needed.
The bar staff were busy but should have acknowledged us whilst we were waiting The room looked really corporate. The furniture throughout the hotel was generic and icky. There was a white van parked next to our car in the carpark with someone sleeping in it.
Great location for discovering the New Forest and the hotel is set in beautiful grounds. Quality of the food in the Armada restaurant was exceptional. Great wines too.
A little tired in places and the main accommodation block feels like most other chain/business hotels - a real disconnect from the character of the main house. We felt that the staff let the hotel down a little (eg slow service without apology and sometimes coming across a little inauthentic).
