A lovely hotel. Classy!
Clean and service is excellent
Na
Food and restaurant excellent
Room was on side by parking lot and railroad noisy at night. Had to open window as 75 degrees in room Also walls thin could here people talking next store Chairs in the pub sag
Food is excellent Dining very nice
Our room was in parking lot rail road side noisy at night We could hear people taking in the next room Warm 75 degrees in rooms opened window but train noise is load
Location very nice.
Had a bad experience with front house staff. Was dealt with promtly by the manager.
The fact they have a nice dinning and bar inside
No air conditioning during our stay..we ask and they give us a fan
Amazing staff. Good location. Comfy beds. Foot and service at the outpost excellent.
A little dated furniture wise but not out of keeping. Room a little dusty.
Everything it’s cozy and warm
Really there’s nothing to not like
Room was too warm. Trains were noisy!
Breakfast was pricy but very good, so worth it. Grounds were great and parking sufficient.
Rooms a bit warm and didn’t find fan in the closet until morning if second day.
The property and friendly staff were we accommodating and friendly.
Pool was nice and whilst simple grounds had a nice feel. Bus driver to lake Louise great.
Staff rude and restaurant took 90 mins to bring food and was dry when it arrived.
+ sehr freundliches und hilfsbereites Personal + großes, gut eingerichtetes, sauberes Zimmer mit Balkon + ruhige Lage
- keine Klimaanlage im Zimmer. Es war zu warm im Zimmer.
We loved the beautiful grounds and hotel. The staff was very friendly and our room was very large and spacious. The amenities including the pool, hot tub, library, complimentary shuttle to Lake Louise, and afternoon tea and coffee were so lovely. The location on the river and with a simple walk across the bridge to a grocery, bakery and shops was fantastic. We had a wonderful stay.
With no air conditioning, our room was quite hot when we arrived and did not cool down before bed. The fan was appreciated, but it was still a warm night’s sleep with the bed in the lofted area of our room. Once we cooled the room overnight and then closed the blinds when we were out during the day, it was cooler the next evening. As other guests have said, the train noise throughout the night was also loud and disturbed sleep.
The evening meal in the restaurant was delightful and very well presented.
The fact that there is not airconditioning should be made more explicit in the advertising. The hotel is right next the Canadian Pacific Railway line and the rooms facing in that direction are very noisy. The lack of airconditioning required the windows to be open to try and cool the room but then the noise of the trains was a regular disturbance during the night,
Very nice hotel with excellent facilities.
Not much to do there, and surprisingly unfriendly staff at reception for such a posh hotel
Excellent location relative to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, together with shuttle service to both was perfect for us. Indoor pool, hot tub and on site restaurant were great. Small enough to feel comfortable.
Nothing
Super tolles Personal. Gute Lage. Sehr gutes Restaurant mit tollem Weinkeller.
The hotel is in a convenient location, the bed is comfortable, and the breakfast is very rich.
Great location to Lake Louise and quieter atmosphere. Beautiful along the river. Wonderful staff! Complimentary shuttle to Lake Louise. Great on site bar and restaurants. Enjoyed using sauna, hot tub, and pool.
Would be great to have breakfast included in price or more affordable options and/or snacks offered in the daytime along with the coffee.
Great location close to Lake Louise (they offer shuttles to Lake Louise/Moraine Lake). Loved the bedtime service. Appreciated also the opportunity to have lunch boxes for hikes. You can walk within five minutes to the bakery/café/supermarket, if you want
Amazing wonderful location.Peaceful. Great shuttles to nearby lakes.
No negative experiences
Loved the complementary afternoon tea .. location and staff
Nothing
Loved this hotel, location was great and had a great feel. The facilities were great and we had an amazing meal in the Outpost Pub.
The price was expensive for the type of room we had. Also I requested a room with a view which was not accommodated.
We had a wonderful experience at the Post Hotel, enjoyed the afternoon tea, the pool and hot tub and the Lounge. great location, super staff, shuttles to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake.
Lovely comfortable hotel, on arrival they allowed me to park and use the complimentary bus to Lake Louise before I checked in.
Nothing
Great location Friendly and helpful staffs
The room is small and without fridge and microwave
Everything. Staff, service, hospitality, facilities, food, water, afternoon tea…
Nothing
Overall the hotel deserves praise for it’s location, leisure facilities and dining room
The dated bedrooms are overdue for a complete renovation in our opinion.

Staff were wonderful hotel was lovely and food was great
Trains
Excellent hotel, very well run. Very comfortable room. Enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Ate in both the fine dining restaurant and the more casual restaurant and both were excellent. Nice to have complimentary shuttle to Lake Louise. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Limited breakfast options. I would have like to be able to choose more fruit, yoghurt, toast etc rather than a very rich breakfast
Excellent food. Great atmosphere. Fabulous stay.
Location and team
What. An. Incredible. Experience.
Terrace, staff , pool, location
Quite noisy rooms and somewhat outdated. No refrigerator in the room!!!
Excellent staff Shuttle drive to the Lake. Driver was very accommodating
No air conditioning + rooms a bit warm Squirrel came into room via open balcony door
wonderful but expensive
our room was facing the railway and a little noisy at night
Just too good location I mean better to stay here than fairmont lake Louise not because of price ,,, but uou are with nature ! N more space in rooms !
Not too many vegetarian options ,,,
This hotel reminded us of a wonderful ski lodge in Bavaria. It was quaint, but not small. We even had a balcony with a snow-capped mountain view and a fireplace. The bed was as good or better we have ever experienced at expensive hotels, in the US or in Europe. The chef's meals were fabulous. As a comparison, we reserved dinner at a very famous large and expensive hotel that gets most of the attention in this location. There was no comparison - the Post easily wins. The breakfast buffet, while a tad expensive, was worth the price. And parking was free at the Post. The staff was absolutely great. It snowed one evening while we were there. As we rushed out to meet our reservation at the gondola ride, thinking we would have to clean the car of snow, we found a young gentleman doing that work for us! We do not hesitate in recommending this wonderful hotel.
Nothing. The place is well worth the cost.
Lovely staff. Room nice and comfortable but very traditional and a little tired. Lovely touches with the whirlpool bath which was amazing, and the spa bath salts/toiletries and water etc in the room. Nice big balcony. We ate in the pub and the food was excellent.
The ambience was wonderful. The staff were very friendly and the dining room staff were very attentive. Couldn't fault anything.
Nothing
Wonderfull environment. Excellent staff. Comfy.
Highly expensive.
It was nestled right near the town center along a beautiful river. It was clean and relaxing throughout the resort.
Our room faced the train tracks and there was no air conditioning. We had to open the windows for air movement but the trains that ran all night were very loud. They brought us a portable air conditioning unit which helped but for the price, it was difficult to sleep with trains running all night.
We had an incredible stay at the Post Hotel and Spa. The hotel is beautifully decorated and we received a very warm welcome on our arrival. Our room was wonderful, with comfortable beds and a lovely balcony. The bathroom was very clean and had everything we required for a comfortable stay - including l’occitane toiletries. We especially liked the tea and coffee served in the lobby of the hotel in the afternoon. We enjoyed the swimming pool, steam room and whirlpool. Beautiful setting. The inclusive shuttle bus to Lake Louise was excellent. We enjoyed our dinners at the Outpost restaurant. Surpassed our high expectations. Would highly recommend!
Nothing.
Location, room, atmosphere, decoration, swimming pool and spa, amazing breakfast
Loved it so much we stayed an additional night. The staff couldn't do more and I loved the library after a day's walking!
Nothing, it was all fabulous 😍
It’s a high end hotel and I would say everything is high end.
Wish there was a fridge in the room so you can keep sandwiches/lunches in the room. We were doing 6am starts on our backcountry trips so nothing is open at that hour. We were getting food the day before and keeping it outside overnight since it was fairly cool overnight
Our stay was absolutely wonderful. Traveling with two toddlers can be difficult, but the environment, the pool, and the Outpost Pub were incredibly accommodating to our family's needs. We were so impressed by the attention to detail—having water, snacks, coffee, tea, and food consistently available made our stay much easier. The pool was a highlight; our kids felt safe and had a total blast. Thank you for making our family getaway so seamless!
ETWAS IN DIE TAGE GEKOMMEN ABER GEMÜTLICH UND RUSTIKAL
SERVICEPERSONAL BENÖTIGT EWIG, EGAL OB AN DER BAR ODER BEIM ESSEN
As it was Easter they gave the children some Easter chocolate and gifts which was a lovely gesture.
Friendly, helpful staff, who made you feel very welcome.
The hotel was cozy with a wonderful restaurant. Shuttle service to Lake Louise and ski resort was exceptional. Pool and hot tubs were clean and quiet. My husband enjoyed a therapeutic and relaxing massage at the spa which he rated highly.
Only one very small issue in that the jets were not working in our room’s bathtub.
Nice Hotel with great location and staff. Super convenient to Ski Lake Louise Food was really solid although limited and the rooms are super clean. Make sure you are at the pick up shuttle for ski 15 min before pick up as some guests show up right at pick up and cause a scene.
It's super close to Lake Louise and has free private shuttle to and from the ski hills everyday. The staff are really friendly and lively.
I wish the hot tub could be outside. I also have not seen a hotel that uses a physical key for their rooms in a very long time...
Beautiful hotel with all the comfort one would expect from such a place. Nice rooms with fire places! Great swimming pool. Excellent breakfast.
The service did not match the price point. Despite booking for three guests, our room had only one bed. When we called to raise the issue at 9pm, we were told it was too late to address and to wait until the next morning, leaving one of us to sleep on the floor that night. The following morning, we discovered the water in our room had stopped working entirely. After some time without a resolution, we were finally moved to another room, which was spacious and lovely. While the hotel itself is genuinely nice, I was disappointed that no proactive gesture was made — neither a prompt fix on the first night nor any acknowledgment on the bill. I raised the issue again when responding to their feedback email. Having heard nothing back since, it is fair to make this concern public. In short, a great property let down by service that falls short of what the price and reputation would lead you to expect.
Wonderful, gracias staff. Nice accommodations and timely pick off and drop off from the hotel to the ski area. Too many kids in the hallway using loud voices. Parents are just oblivious.
Gorgeous hotel in a lovely setting. Extremely good restaurant, with an exceptional wine cellar and very knowledgeable sommelier. Lovely staff throughout the property. Very convenient for the skiing at Lake Louise. we chose to drive ourselves each day but there is an efficient and regular shuttle service provided. We booked a midweek package, to include breakfast (excellent) and ski passes; overall good value for money
What a fabulous weekend at The Post! Would've given 5/5 but our Saturday am buffet was disappointing (low quantity of food) and we were unable to wait to refresh as we were catching the shuttle to ski. The shuttle was such a bonus and made our stay extra easy to get onto the slopes. When you get back to the lodge, enjoy the wonderful selection of teas, hot tub or just relax in the lounge. So amazing and will be coming back. Thank you for all the little details, making our stay so enjoyable!
Post Hotel is a magical property with fabulous helpful staff. This is our second visit, the first in the winter. It's an easy drive from Banff. Once you get there, an easy shuttle to Lake Louise Ski area, a 30 min drive to Banff Sunshine Ski area or Johnston Canyon for a beautiful hike (be sure to rent ice cleats). It's a smaller property, low crowds, with a lovely afternoon tea service in the lobby. There's a few shops walking distance across the bridge. Dining in the area is limited and something to consider for a multi-day stay. We drove to Emerald Lake Lodge and the Fairmont for some diversity from the on property options.
Unfortunately, our experience did not meet the expectations we had for a refined and professional environment. We encountered several issues that hindered the effectiveness of our meetings. The organization of our sessions felt haphazard, with inadequate equipment provided. Basic necessities such as pens and paper were unavailable, which affected our ability to facilitate productive discussions. Additionally, the overall ambiance was not conducive to a professional setting. We noticed signs taped to the walls, dirty plates left behind, and mismatched cups, which contributed to a sense of disarray rather than a polished atmosphere. Our facilitator attempted to address these concerns with the meeting manager but was met with a series of excuses and a lack of actionable solutions. This was particularly frustrating, as we expected better responsiveness and support during our retreat. In hindsight, we feel that a venue like the Holiday Inn would have offered a more suitable environment for our group’s needs. We found the hotel a bit unkept We appreciate your attention to this matter and hope that this feedback can help improve the experience for future groups.
The restaurant have a great variety of food and the little additions to the experience made it wonderful such as the 3-5:00 pm afternoon tea and coffee. The hot towel upon arrival to the hotel was also refreshing. The room was comfortable and beds were very nice…coming from someone who really is a stickler on hotel beds
Upon arrival to the hotel we had the reception double charge us. I had already prepaid for the hotel on booking.com but when I got to the hotel they had charged us again for the full amount. It was not a small amount and the charge did not drop off for the entirety of the vacation. We didn’t let it ruin our trip but it definitely was a shock when we saw that double charge.
Posting our review to provide feedback regarding our recent stay at the Post Hotel from February 18–19, which was intended to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We would like to begin by thanking Jill at the front desk for accommodating our date change due to the winter storm in Calgary. She graciously offered us an upgrade to the Fairview Cabin (Room 102), which we accepted and appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience in the cabin was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, the cabin was uncomfortably cold, with slate floors and no area rugs. Despite the thoughtful gesture of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, we were unable to relax and remained in our parkas. A significant draft through the front door persisted throughout our stay, despite our request for weather stripping to be addressed. Heating instructions were not provided, and the cabin had not been pre-warmed prior to our arrival. Additional space heaters were added, but even with these measures, the cabin remained difficult to heat adequately. Furthermore, the electrical system was insufficient to support basic use: running the heaters, television, and coffee maker simultaneously repeatedly tripped the breaker, resulting in a service call to restore the television. On the morning of February 19, there was no hot water in the cabin, nor at the spa, which prevented us from showering. This was particularly concerning given the hotel’s reputation and price point. The pool was also notably cold and not enjoyable. Housekeeping service was inconsistent and incomplete. Despite coordinating times when the room could be cleaned, the cabin was not properly serviced. Floors remained dirty, glassware was not replaced, and turndown service was minimal. We would like to acknowledge two positive experiences. Ms. Roux provided excellent, knowledgeable wine service and was a pleasure to speak with, and Jayce at the Fondue Stübli delivered professional and attentive service during a very enjoyable dinner. These individuals reflect well on your team. However, attention to detail was lacking in other areas, including improperly sized teaspoons served with espresso in both restaurants and insufficient electrical capacity in the cabin, which prevented normal grooming activities. We checked out on February 20, relieved to conclude what was, unfortunately, a very poor stay. We strongly feel that this cabin is not suitable for winter occupancy and should not be offered during colder months without significant improvements to heating, insulation, and electrical systems. The Post Hotel has been the setting for many of our past celebrations, and it is deeply disappointing that this experience has overshadowed those memories.
The staff are amazing The dining room was great The rooms are beginning to look tired and dated "spa" was underwhelming Not sure what the housekeeping schedule is as we had to request it later int he day as it still had not been attended to
The Post had the feel of a wonderful old, historic mountain lodge. The atmosphere was perfect. It was cozy and we especially enjoyed watching Olympic coverage with fellow travelers, together in the lobby/lounge area while being able to get coffee and drinks from the pub.
Not the same Relais & Chateau experience we were accustomed to. Mix up in rooms and billing errors. Bed was not comfortable.
The location is the only thing that is saving this hotel. A disappointing experience from the arrival. No doorman, no luggage help. Room had trim hanging from ceiling. We had to have door lock repaired so we could get in. Overall service was a 3 star hotel. The dining room is still the highlight. Excellent food and service. The location is also great for skiing and exploring the area. Unfortunately, this traveler thinks it should not be included in the Relais Chateaux class and does not understand how it received a Michelin Key….
Unfortunately, our recent stay fell well below expectations. While the property itself is unique, the dining experience significantly detracted from our visit and ultimately overshadowed everything else. Service was disorganized and inattentive, and the overall experience did not reflect the standard one would expect at this price point. Given how central dining is to the stay, this was a major disappointment and not something we would overlook or repeat.
New Corporation , lots of corners cut and it shows ALOT . Not the same as it once was . Sad to see such a Iconic Hotel as this deteriorate so much. I ll leave it at that.
The day starts with a white tablecloth Austrian breakfast, then a 3-minute shuttle to the slopes, call from the hill to say you'll be down in 5, and the shuttle appears, whisks us back to the hot tub, fireplace in the room, and an elegant dinner with fine wine. Head on the pillow. Repeat.
poor customer service, front desk very rigid in food service astronomical prices for food location is amazing food availability very rigid other than expensive room service no outdoor hot tub gym IS ADEQUATE MUCH NICER HOTELS IN BANFF WITH GREAT CUSTOMER SERIVCE
Charming rustic ski lodge experience, great food, and easy access to ski basin in a 4 star property. Love the working fireplaces in some rooms. Unfortunately you need to be sure to make reservations in the hotel dining room for weekends (prime nights) well in advance.
The Post is a nice hotel in many ways. The staff is welcoming, the pool, steam and exercise rooms are pleasant. The setting is gorgeous. But we had an issue with a chirping smoke detector in the middle of the night. It made for an unsatisfactory night and was not addressed beyond an apology. We were very unhappy with the result.
