The location was unbeatable. The view was spectacular. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable.
Outrageously expensive. Given the price tag, I would expect better bed linens quality. The towels were old and thin.
Location is awesome. The facilities are spectacular. The Waller Stube restaurant was not very good and very expensive. $380 for two, one glass of wine each and less than mediocre food.
Very expensive. Got a great rate thru Booking.com, but still just south of $2,000 for 1 night.

Stunningly beautiful and comfortable property. Food in all the restaurants is exceptional.

De ligging van het hotel, de vriendelijkheid van het personeel die het heel persoonlijk maakt, de netheid en grote van de kamers (badkamer had iets groter mogen zijn maar is eigenlijk geen issues, ontbijt was super. Zeker een aanrader. Wij komen in ieder geval graag weer terug.
Location and view is stunning.
Rooms are too small and dinning options r a bit limited.
Quarto amplo e limpo!
Expensive. Tiny room, though with modern furniture and fittings. The view from the window does make up for it somewhat.
Excellent
Some furniture in Fairview restaurant was sticky with spilled drink.
This is the perfect kick off point to explore lake Louise. The staff is incredible and the accommodations are five star. Highlight of my trip.
Honour was so super lovely at check in and everything about our stay was amazing!!!
The room was too small and not cleaned enough. We saw a lot of dust and the view was not great. The staffs were not welcoming or friendly.
Emplacement et service
Petit déjeuner : pas de jus d’orange naturel Chambre : pas de bouteille d’eau / boisson (mini bar vide)
This hotel has ruined hotels for me... the staff were wonderful, the setting was magic, i had a room upgrade which was wonderful and the room was spectacular. I had amazing room service breakfast and the beds were heaven. Could not recommend more. I loved the history too.
This Fairmont Lake Louise is a truly elegant old-school hotel. It is mobbed with tourists beyond reasonable capacity. We understand the need to accommodate very large tour groups, but there needs to be control. The rooms, even upgraded ones, are small and the bathrooms are tiny (3 feet square). A suite is probably really nice, but that comes with very high price points. Setting is gorgeous. Staff is friendly.
Completely overpriced for a very dated hotel! Views from the front of the hotel are great but I will not be visiting again. $3k for a family of 4 for a view of a car park!
This is specific praise for Ryan Schultz, a manager in the in-room dining department. We got to the property late, after a full day of touring, and we were exhausted. Neither the physical in-room dining menu nor the QR-code one had anything that looked like a dinner we would want, and going down to one of the restaurants was NOT in the cards. So we asked Room Service to give us the menus for the restaurants on the property, and we put together a dinner from one of them, with dessert from another. AND RYAN MADE IT HAPPEN. I can only imagine the hoops he might have had to jump through, but 45 minutes later, there it was on a room service table in our room. Bravo Zulu Ryan Schultz!!!
I first stayed here in 2009, when it was much less expensive but still a HUGE splurge at the time. I recalled the fabulous views, luxury rooms, and wonderful hikes. I returned in July: It's now quite pricey, but definitely worth the splurge. The property setting just can't be beat. The rooms in the Mount Temple wing are spacious and modern; some--like ours--have a peekaboo view of the lake. It is connected to the main building, but is a bit of a trek with various levels and elevators to consider. There is a handy, large parking facility. For those with the means, the lakeview rooms in the main building would be ideal. The breakfast buffet and dinner at the Lakeview Lounge were wonderful. We didn't get to use their lavish spa or the unique Basin Glacial Waters, which has direct views of the lake, but met guests who loved both. Location context: The Fairmont is right at the lake, so you can see the views from within the property, and easily walk out to the trails. If you stay elsewhere, parking becomes an issue. I was up at 5:30 a.m. and there were already a good number of visitors outside for sunrise. From the gated areas of the Fairmont, you can see the hordes of tourists going around the lake throughout the day. Lake Louise is also a good location to go north to the Columbia Icefields. Highly recommended!
We paid $1800 USD for one night to be assigned to room 3942 which overlooked a row of dumpsters. I understand that I did not pay the up charge for the lake view but was promised a of view of the mountains not trash! We were placed in a wing of the hotel at the end of the hallway. This area of the hotel was under construction. It included us walking past wet paint, cracked floor tiles, and other areas of disrepair. Nothing about the room’s location or view felt luxurious at all and I can help but feel ripped off! Very disappointed.
The property is in a beautiful location, the rooms are very modern and the breakfast was delicious with a lot of variety. Renee at breakfast was very helpful. Staff are all very welcoming. The bakery on site is a must visit.
It is extortionately priced for the season, but you will not regret it!
We vacationed at the Fairmont this past July with our two children and decided to splurge for a Gold level suite. It was a fabulous experience all around. We received welcome emails from the resort to get prepared for our visit. The room was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond to meet our needs. I would highly recommend this resort and it is worth the extra cost for the Gold level accommodations!
Three couples visited. We all had terrific rooms( floors 3&4, with great views of the lake. The rooms are a bit small but well appointed and comfortable. The service was outstanding. Front desk, concierge, maids, restaurant, and bar staff were all friendly and excellent. We enjoyed many features of the property including restaurants, bar, and spa. We arranged for the Glacier Basin spa experience which was wonderful and relaxing. We participated in using the unique sauna experience which was incredible. We arranged reservation for use of canoes for going out on the lake for the sunrise experience. Only hotel guest can reserve for this time. Ther are some easily accessible hiking trails tothe tea houses. The hotel is expensive, however for special trip occasion, a five star experience , and spectacular views, it is worth it.
The Basin Glacial Waters spa is beautiful. The architecture is minimal and timeless, and it compliments the natural beauty of Lake Louise and the mountains that surround it. That said, when I see posts about the Basin Glacial Waters on social media, they have been made by influencers who only focus on the positives, and I'd like to share a more balanced perspective as an ordinary person and someone who goes to spas on a regular basis. While the facilities are clean and beautiful, and the setting is stunning, I would not go back or recommend it to others. Here's why: 1. It's the most expensive spa I've ever visited. - To access the spa facilities, guests are required to book a night at the hotel. As the hotel is in a relatively remote location, guests typically eat at the hotel as well. On top of that, guests are required to pay $289 to use the spa facilities for three hours. In total, I spent well over $1,000 for the opportunity to access the spa for three hours. - I have visited incredible spas all over the world, including the Four Seasons in London, the Ritz-Carlton in Hong Kong, the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, and the Silo Hotel in Cape Town. With respect to spa fees alone divided by access time, the Basin Glacial Waters is by far the most expensive spa I have ever visited. - It might also be helpful for me to note that this is the only hotel I've ever stayed at that requires guests to pay to use the spa facilities. 2. There is a no pictures and videos policy. - Despite the reels that influencers post online, guests are not allowed to take pictures or videos. - I genuinely think if guests are paying incredibly high prices to access the spa, they should be able to take pictures or videos while no one else is around and within reason. - At one point, I was the only person in the lounge, and I took my phone out and read the news on it. I was reprimanded by a staff member, and she stated that I needed to go to the change room and put my phone in my locker. I felt like I was a student in primary or secondary school who was being reprimanded by one of their teachers. 3. It was crowded. - I went to the spa on a Tuesday afternoon in the winter, expecting it to be relatively quiet between the day of the week I chose and the exclusivity of the spa. However, it was one of the more crowded spas I had ever been to. 4. There is a three-hour time limit. - The Basin Glacial Waters is tied with the spa at the Fairmont Banff Springs in regards to the shortest time limit I have experienced at a spa. In my opinion, three hours often isn't enough time to unwind and feel refreshed. I would love to see the time limit extended to at least four hours. 5. I didn't see a place to fully recline. - This might seem like a small thing, and it might not matter to some folks, but when I go to spas, I like to use loungers that fully recline to help me relax. However, while the furniture was really nice, it only allowed for partial recline.
Amazing location, great outdoor seating, staff was extremely kind and caring, always in a positive attitude. Food and drinks were great. Very nice toom, amazing bathroom.
Parking was not included in price. Air conditioning was not working, we tried multiple times to get it to work. Stairs were difficult to locate, and only had 4 elevators, one of which broke down, so always had to wait a while to use them.
Quarto e amenidades cliente gold.
Nada.
We came with high expectations after a few stays at the Fairmont Banff Springs, and the Chateau Lake Louise exceeded them in every way. The views have to be seen to be believed. Our room was so new that it appeared to have been renovated yesterday. Even the shower had a lake view! We enjoyed afternoon tea in the Fairview and a quieter breakfast there than in Louiza. Staff at the Guide’s Pantry were very helpful in packing a picnic lunch early in the day to take with us on the Icefields Parkway. Took a dip in the lake and then warmed up in the delightful steam room and hot tub. Gym was small but serviceable. Hope to return soon!
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise exceeded every expectation. This is genuinely one of our best trips yet. The sunrise canoe experience is an absolute must. Only seven hotel guests get to be on the lake at sunrise, and it's one of the most uplifting and serene experiences you can have. The Basin Spa alone is worth the trip. It's one of the most spectacular spa settings I've ever experienced, with mountain views that make the whole atmosphere feel unforgettable. The Aufguss ritual was the highlight of our stay: expertly led, truly rejuvenating, and something everyone should experience at least once. The spa staff, Rosi, Erik, Abby, Raol, and Barbara, were warm and welcoming, took the time to walk us through the facility, made sure we were comfortable, and kept everything exceptionally clean. We felt completely taken care of. Louisa was our favorite restaurant on property. Steven, Cy, and Rachel handled the dinner and breakfast rush with ease, and we never once felt rushed or forgotten. And the room, the view alone took our breath away. The whole property is elegant and beautifully maintained, but it's the little touches that stood out: Honor made check-in a breeze, Avery at the concierge helped us plan our activities, and Tess kept our room spotless every day. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service was outstanding. We'll absolutely be back.
A highlight stay during our honeymoon adventure. From start to finish, we had the most welcoming and wonderful experience at the Fairmont Lake Louise. A special thank you to Heero in Reception for the warm welcome and congratulations on our honeymoon. The welcome treat in our room was delicious- thank you. We booked a lakeview room (401), and while a second window or art work would enhance the room, the view itself was simply breathtaking. We could have woken up to that view everyday for the entire three week honeymoon. The room itself was spacious, with a large and comfy king size bed. The bathroom was well equipped and clean. We ate at the Lake View Lounge for a lunchtime meal and a fixed evening meal - both experiences were tasty, and the service was attentive and cheerful (Thank you Joe!). Our highlight meal was ar Louiza, where the Steak was simply outstanding! Breakfast ar Louiza on both mornings was delicious. Basin Spa, while pricey, is a must do experience. Many reviews note that the view is what sells this hotel, while I agree, the Staff are incredible and work tirelessly to support such a well run hotel - I can’t fault them (waitress Cy is another clear example of their hardworking and professionalism). Thank you for an incredible two night highlight stay that we will not forget.
On arrival our initial thoughts were that the location and surrounding scenery was stunning and the evening check in process was quick & efficient and the room was sizeable, clean and comfortable. However, things went pretty much downhill from there with our first breakfast at the Louisa descended into a shambles with us having to wait over 30 mins for an order of toast and two soft poached eggs only to receive two slices of bread and two hard poached eggs. The breakfast environment resembled an old school canteen and the buffet food was often messy and running low. The hotel in general felt to big in physical size for the management and staff to handle and operate, with many areas feeling tired, worn out and in some cases abandoned. For the size of this huge hotel the gym was pretty pathetic and would be considered over crowded with only ten people in it and was lacking refreshments and equipment cleaning materials resulting in the equipment being stained and greasy. The pool was also really small and in need of an overhaul as it looked tired and dated. There was another pool in the spa area which we thought we would use instead but was shocked to be told that it was an extra cost of several hundred dollars per person, so we skipped that on principle. Another part of our stay which was a disappointment was the laundry service. Again for a hotel of this size they do not offer same day laundry service which can be inconvenient if you're only staying at this property for a short period of time. Upon highlighting this with the management our laundry was collected at Ipm and returned at 8pm the following day. The management accepted our concern and offered to cover the laundry charge for the inconvenience, however, we were disappointed but not surprised to see the charge turn up on our final bill upon checkout. Other points to note are that the restaurants are drab, lacking in choice and the food is mediocre. We had to wait for 30 minutes outside the Alpine Social bar in the public corridor before we eventually got a seat. The annoying thing is we didn’t want to eat and could see a dozen seats available at the bar. I asked everyone else in the queue and they confirmed they were all waiting for tables to eat at. With that we walked in and made our way to the bar only to be intercepted by a member of staff and told to go back out to the corridor and wait until someone comes to us. We waited another 10/15 minutes and was then lead to the seats at the bar we were walking towards earlier. Several times whilst sat at the bar we would sit with empty glasses due to no one actually serving behind the bar, the staff appeared to be sharing bar duties with table service resulting in many bar sitters going thirsty. A BATTLE GROUND I think the worst experience of all was the battle ground between the day tripping public who were visiting Lake Louise and the hotel and its staff. Lake Louise justifiably gets hundreds of day visitors admiring the scenic beauty and engaging with the walking trails. The hotel appears to have a serious dislike for this public and positions countless numbers of obstacles in the way to stop them coming in including dozens of signs saying “No Public Entry”, chain and padlocks on lake front gates and even roadwork hi-vis cones and tape. The hotel has staff positioned throughout the hotel intercepting people and questioning what they’re doing, we were intercepted 6 times during our 4 day stay. The funny thing is, the hotel offer the public access to a very expensive coffee shop through a small side door but rope off the toilets and removed all the seats in an attempt to take their money and then fast track them out the door. It felt embarrassing and difficult when the public were waiting outside hotel doors with little children desperate for the toilet but could not get in due to not having keycards. As soon as you would walk out the hotel door members of the public would grab the door before you got out in order to keep the door open so they could get in. Now I appreciate that the hotel doesn’t want to be flooded with none paying members of the public but why not kill two birds with one stone. They have an enormous area between the hotel and the lake promenade, simply build a gated log cabin style coffee shop, seating area and chargeable toilet facility. The hotel gains a new revenue stream, the public get a good usable facility and hotel doesn’t spend huge resources battling to keep the public out of the hotel. Summing up and considering we have spent several weeks travelling around Canada and having stayed at various many other Fairmont hotels along our route, Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise hotel was a real disappointment. Based on the advertising we had read we had great expectations for the hotel, however, it has easily been the worse Fairmont we have stayed at so far on our trip and we would not recommend this hotel to anyone or ever stay there again. You're better off staying in Banff at the Fairmont Banff Springs and jumping on a coach for a day trip to Lake Louise which is about 45 min drive away.
We arrived from our luxury train journey on the Rocky Mountaineer and were greeted by a staff member who told us to where the check in was once my son explained what rooms we had booked we were taken to a check in on the exclusive 7th floor unfortunately this could have been handled better normally you arrive and are greeted with a glass of champagne or water that wasn’t the case. The rooms were nice but the views were incredible haven’t experienced anything like this before and probably never will breathtaking indeed . We had breakfast in the club lounge in the mornings and the Mexican chef is fantastic and will make you practically anything a really fantastic employee unfortunately he should be training the other staff in the club lounge because there totally untrained in hospitality lacking any understanding of what’s required. I have been in many club lounge’s and every other Lounge has a manager running the establishment setting standards unfortunately for the money they are charging its not good enough having to ask for tables to be set for breakfast and even at there evening pre dinner tapas it’s totally unacceptable and putting a charge on alcohol after what people are paying is very greedy indeed this is the first time in a club lounge where there is a charge on alcohol. And for the reasons mentioned Mexican chef 10 out of 10 Club check in staff 5 out of 10 no drinks on arrival unbelievable Club waiter/waitress staff 4 out of 10. Untrained and totally in the wrong part of the hotel. We had food in the lounge on the first evening and the Scottish manager was very polite and courteous and couldn’t be more helpful maybe she should be in the club lounge managing staff there We also had a great experience in the sports bar for food and drinks and found the staff again fantastic and the food was excellent . So overall we loved our stay but the club lounge needs big improvements regarding some of there staff 7 out of 10. Should have been 10. With what it cost
LAKE LOUISE FAIRMONT Having landed in Calgary we asked the Fairmont to organise our transfer from The Delta Hotel Calgary Airport to the Fairmont. Large SUV and driver arrived at 11.00 as planned and arrived at Lake Louise by 1.15pm. We checked into room 849 which is in the central block of the hotel with a spectacular view of Lake Louise. The room itself is quite small and feels a little cramped, the bathroom again quite small with a walk in shower. Overall it felt tight but was clean and tidy. There are variety of different restaurants in the hotel with some that you need to pre-book. Breakfast is served in the Louiza. These are some of the hikes you can do to explore the local area. Lake Louise lakeshore Trail - 4.6km, Easy Fairview lookout - 2.4km, Moderate Lake Agnes Tea House - 7.4km, Moderate Little Beehive - 9km, Moderate We did the Lake Agnes trail which seemed to be the most popular. There are some beautiful views as you climb up to the lake and a beautiful waterfall just before you get to the tea house. But just be warned during the busy periods there can be long queues for the tea house. There are two queues, one for those that want to sit in and another for takeout. As you would except the service is impeccable and all the staff we interacted with were helpful and courteous. Now with the restrictions on getting to Lake Louise staying at the Fairmont gives you unrestricted access to the beautiful surroundings easily. We had dinner and breakfast at Louiza. They do recommend reservations for dinner which we did but it was fairly empty when we went at 7.00pm. We had booked to travel on the Rocky Mountaineer the next day and you can check in at the hotel the day before. The check in desk is opposite the Chateau Mountain Sports shop on the ground floor. Make sure you include any hand luggage when you check in as you won’t be able to bring this to your seat on the train as there is no room. Once you get your baggage tags you leave the bags in your room on the departure day and the Rocky Mountaineer team collect them from your room and effortlessly transport them to your destination hotel room. I would recommend you advance book high tea at the hotel. Its only served uptown 3pm and is oversubscribed so book early. Tea is served at the Fairview restaurant with spectacular views overlooking the lake. The sandwiches and cake were nothing special but you’re really paying for the view and experience rather than the food. Check out was quick and easy and our coach picked us up at 7.30am to take us to Lake Louise station to board the Rocky Mountaineer train. This is a luxurious hotel in a unique setting and if want easy access to Lake Louise, easy boarding for the Rocky Mountaineer and great service and comfort then this is a perfect choice.
The location is great!
The bathroom is too small, and the faucet is fixed on the wall and difficult to use.
I have taken a month just thinking about how to write this review. My disappointment in this business is scarcely possible to capture through words alone. I am making the attempt nonetheless so it will be absolutely clear to all readers how this report is expressed in good faith. It is meant as a wake-up call to the business and its shareholders, and a warning to anyone who would stay here, to beware an experience the marketing materials this business wouldn’t dare reveal. Tell me, imaginary reader: what do you think that the sum of CAD $ 3,182.34 - which approaches (93%) an ENTIRE MONTH’s median after-tax salary (Statistics Canada), should guarantee you for a two-night stay in an admittedly fancy hotel, exclusive location, and with exquisite furnishings? Because I was absolutely astounded that, for all the luxury this business relies on for its marketing, the promise of this titanic sum couldn’t purchase the faintest sliver of respect. Politeness in the absence of respect has this strange quality of being worse than mild aloofness; and was felt instead as thinly disguised contemptuousness. If this sounds overly dramatic, allow me to walk you through what happened to us in the Fairmont hotel at Lake Louise in Banff on June 5th and 6th of this year, so that you may judge for yourself. We, being my fiancee and I, were staying in the hotel as friends of the bride of a wedding, being held at the hotel. With my fiancee as a bridesmaid, the bride had offered to compensate our stay as we would be assisting her on this very important day in her life. My fiancee and the bride have been friends for 12 years. When we arrived at around 3:30pm to check in on Friday 5th June, we found out that the hotel had not yet managed to secure a deposit from the wedding payment coordinator. This was not an excellent first sign, but we understood that sometimes these things take time. So when the staff asked us to cover the deposit at the full amount of $ 3,182.34, after receiving assurance that it was only a hold and not a payment, and that the staff would liaise with the wedding coordinator to receive their payment, we put down the deposit. While we were hoping to have an early check-in given that the rehearsal dinner was timed for 5:00 pm, we do not fault the hotel for not having a room available for us before the agreed check-in time, 4:00 pm. However, what we do fault them for is that 4:00 pm arrived and no room was ready. 4:15pm passed, then 4:30pm, then 4:40pm. No room, no shower, no place to get ready for our friend’s rehearsal dinner. At around 4:44pm, we were eventually told which room was ready for us, then had to carry our bags and supplies there, meaning that we could only begin getting ready for our friend’s 5 pm wedding rehearsal dinner at 4:49pm. This certainly caused some stress for us, but we knew that if we were angry, annoyed, or made a fuss about anything, we would certainly affect our friend’s wedding. So we gave the hotel management grace, understood for the time that wedding planning is difficult and fraught, and took hurried showers in the tiny bathroom and got dressed, eventually arriving at the rehearsal dinner with 3/4ths of the guests already seated. (Did they get early check-in?) The rest of the evening, we had excellent service from the marvelous catering company, who were not employed by the hotel staff. In the postscript and in other reviews, you will see some comments from people who did have the misfortune of being served in the hotel’s restaurants. When we tried to sleep in the evening, we found the air conditioning to be woefully underpowered. It had only one small vent. Despite the small room, nothing we could do would bring the room to a comfortable 17 degrees Celsius, arriving as we did to a 22 degrees C room. (It did occur to us on our second evening that we could open the window into the crisp Canadian 5-degree air, so you might fault us for failing to consider this, but it doesn’t change the fact that the air conditioning was not remotely up to par and would fail to bring comfort to anyone during the hotter summer months - note that as I write this as of July 24th, the predicted air temperature in the area in Lake Louse would reach 17C at sunset and 13C at midnight, plus the area has an air quality warning today, so visitors may reasonably not wish to open the windows). The day of the wedding, Saturday 6th, was very pleasant. Due to my fiancee being a bridesmaid and requiring uninterrupted use of the room in order to do the multiple clothing and hair changes required of her, we did not request any room service during the day. When we needed an extra towel in the afternoon, I was able to pick one up from the hallway because of nearby rooms being serviced. Unfortunately, this ease created a false sense of security for me, believing that getting more towels if and when we needed them would not prove difficult. After another fantastic experience from the catering company and a lovely wedding, and having completed some enjoyable late night dancing, we found that we would like another short shower before returning to the party. At around 10:15pm, I went directly to the front desk to request a set of towels, knowing that they would likely have been stored in a close; however, I was informed that they would send someone to the room with towelst. We waited in our room, hoping soon to be able to take our shower, so that we could return to the party before the attendees departed. By 11 pm, no towels had been delivered. We tried calling the front desk using the room phone, but found that the voice on the other end of the line was so distorted that it was inaudible. We could not confirm that the front desk was even aware of our request or knew how long they were taking. So we went to the front desk again, this time thoroughly upset at the lack of care shown to date. The night staff member, to their credit, was apologetic (the only staff member to show any visible contrition for our experience thus far). We went back to the room, and eventually, by around 11:45pm, we received our two towels. The next morning was our check-out day. We had been scheduled to attend a brunch event at 10 AM in one of the hotel’s more distant restaurants. Knowing that our cards would not grant us access later and wanting to get ahead of their mismanagement thus far, we went to check out at around 9:20 AM so that we could leave directly after brunch. If you’ve been paying attention, it would probably not surprise you at this point to learn that the hotel staff had failed to secure payment confirmation from the wedding coordination team and were willing to go right ahead and charge our card $ 3,182.34, in contradiction of their assurances on Friday that the payment was just a hold and not a charge. We had enough at this point, and insisted to talk to the manager. The manager was not willing to do so much as pick up the phone and call the wedding coordination team and confirm that we wouldn’t be charged. That was the reassurance we needed after the days of failures. This is what I mean by thinly disguised contempt. There was no hint of empathy or emotional understanding for the weekend we’d experienced. He attempted to ‘make things better’ by offering a free boat trip across the lake! The only point he was (eventually) willing to concede was that the late check-in was unprofessional, and granted a $300 discount on it. Note that he was unwilling to even go this far until we were thoroughly exhausted and had to complain repeatedly. It is so upsetting to try and talk things over in a reasonable manner first, and experience gaslighting and stonewalling in response. We are not angry people, we experience no joy in making a scene, and always try to reason first. I hope you, as the reader, understand why the offer of the free boat trip was absolutely no substitute for simply making the effort to reassure us that, despite their bungling of this event that they are being supremely well compensated for, they would handle the payment process professionally. Humility, apologies, and emotional intelligence would have served better. We made it absolutely clear that the absolute most important thing they could do for us, before we checked out, was to finally get a hold of the wedding coordination team to confirm that our account would not be charged. I imagine they thought they would just reverse the charge once the coordinator finally decided to pay them - but what they failed to grasp was that they had lost our trust that they would do so in a timely manner due to their previous mismanagement, and that having to stress over a potential $2,882.34 charge would thoroughly ruin the rest of our vacation that we had planned - because we envisioned spending days on the phone having to argue with people instead of enjoying the Canadian wilderness we had already paid to travel to (and in my case, I don’t get any paid days off, so sacrificed a good deal of income for). The manager offered to wait a day before charging our account, explained that this was unprecedented and they never usually did this, but once again, waiting a day was NOT the solution we needed. Hours later, we heard from the bride that the coordination team had successfully paid the bill. We did not end up getting charged. I understand if you will read this and say that we were worried about nothing. This might be because you are extremely rich and so don’t care about amounts as ‘trivial’ as $3,000, or it might be because you are emotionally stoic, or have a high degree of trust in people. But unless you are privileged beyond measure, you will likely understand why this experience above, coupled with a general air and vibe that we just didn’t belong in the hotel (due to being working professionals with an income closer to the median, rather than extremely wealthy), and a nickel-and-diming attitude of charging $8 for water bottles, $20 for basic cooked snacks left a poor taste in our mouths. I can further advise you that unless you are the sort of person who travels with a personal butler, and especially if you are a key element of a wedding party who comes out of love for their friend rather than to boast on social media that they were seen at this exclusive, fancy hotel, then this business just isn’t for you. There are many better hotels deserving of your hard-earned dollar than this one. Do better. David Dornbrack and Emily Ferguson, of San Antonio, TX July 24th, 2026 P.S. Just in case you start to wonder if our experience was unique - here is a small sample of experiences from guests who have also had issues that relate to being respected. The tragedy of a business like this is that they know they treat you with disrespect, coldness, and suspicion, but do not change when you call them out on it. Clearly, the reviews are positive for most, but heaven forbid you actually need more from the hotel than just its (monopolized) view or expensive furniture. As a potential customer - please do not reward contemptuous businesspeople. “Overall, the hotel did not seem especially interested in doing the right thing—or even simply a nice thing—for the guest. The experience felt very transactional and bottom-line driven.” - gobrowns77, 7/10/26 “Expected much more for $1400+ USD/night. You are paying to be on the lake which is a huge benefit but this is not a luxury hotel…. We went to have a drink at the Fairview bar and waited 25 min just for water/menus. When we inquired what was going on the staff was completely unapologetic.” Seema S, 7/13/2026 “The view is fantastic - but Fairmont does not own the view - is happens that it occupies this monopoly location for a world class view of Lake Louise… The annoying issues was that when the front desk asked me whether I had any comments on my experience with the stay - I pointed out these experience for Fairmont to review but she argued with me and took position to defend - which is shocking to me. For that kind of service, I had no choice but giving the lowest ranking, admittedly, the view is fantastic. Wish the service is the same as the view.” - James Z, July 2025 “Yes, the view is spectacular but this is irrelevant when discussing the hotel. This Fairmont needs to up its game if it wants to be a regarded as a luxury property. Pretentious, overpriced and overcrowded are the words that spring to mind.” Carole S, from way back in 2012!
This is such an iconic hotel. It’s expensive so be prepared but if you can stretch your budget, staying here is such a memorable experience. The views are stunning. Lots of tourists visit lake Louise during the day but of course as a guest in the hotel you are able to stroll the lake when all the tourists have departed. This hotel was a must-do for me. It was fabulous and a big highlight of our Canadian Rockies trip.
Location / rooms / staff generally and the evening restaurants
Our breakfast was a car crash of service / hectic / understaffed for the numbers. A lot of additional costs (resort fees / parking / experience etc etc) which brings costs up when rooms are expensive
This is an impeccable hotel at a fabulous location. You will not regret reserving one or more nights here. The luxury is all around you. Lake Louise is a gem. We hike most of the way around the lake and enjoyed that very much. There are many restaurants in the hotel. One I would have liked to try was called Walliser Stube. It features Swiss and Austrian food such as cheese, fondue, raclette, and schnitzel of many types. The room was sumptuous and had many amenities. The bathroom as well was extremely well appointed the hotel. Staff were all very polite and friendly.
OMG for the price I would not have expected peeling wallpaper begging held up with tape. The bathroom needs serious deep cleaning. The housekeeping area was open for guests to see old mattress, dirty laundry and trash. The public space bathrooms had trash all over the floor and outside the door. Elevator were dingy looking and the walls were all scratched up. We eat at the social club service was amazing but the food came out so fast makes you wonder how much is precooked and reheated. To top it off we are ALL rewards members and we’re directed to a priority check in and when someone finally came to the desk she took people from the main check in line. If we were to come back to the area definitely would look for some places else to stay.
Beliggenhed. Perdonale. Værelset var meget lækkert.
Dårlig ledelse. Elevator virkede ikke hvilket kostede ventetid. Et stort problem for mange gæster. Louiza og coffee shop krævede stor tålmodighed for at blive betjent. Ikke værdigt for så dyrt hotel. Prisen på spa var latterlig høj. Og mangel på swimmingpool er ikke godt
The location was great because Lake Louise is just right in front of the hotel
The cleanliness was not great. The surfaces in the hotel was a little dusty. Although I asked for a lake view room, they assigned me a room on the lowest floor which was blocked by a pine tree and because it’s the lowest floor, I could see the awning at my level which was really unsightly. For close to $2,000 a night, it’s really not worth it. Quite disappointing
The location is stunning. The service from staff was also excellent and very friendly and attentive. The Mountain View room was large. In July it is insanely expensive. Our biggest criticism is the food and beverage for such a high end chateau. Having a gluten allergy the menus were frustrating to navigate. One of our burgers was worse than Mc Donald’s considering the price paid. They need a total rethink of their approach to food in these times. These things have come so far but I feel they are resting on their past and not looking at incredible opportunities. The food was disappointing for the price and their menus need to reflect what is on offer. Apart from that, incredibly memorable.
This is a lovely old hotel with updated amenities. The most important is the view of Lake Louise! It is breathtaking. Get a lake front room. Their new water experience looks amazing but expensive. Indoor pool is nice. High tea is excellent. Restaurants were very good except the German restaurant was just ok.
The only positive things about our stay were the beauty of the land and the Basin Glacial Waters area. We have had this resort on our bucket list for a long time. When we checked in we were offered a complimentary suite and we thought how lucky we were. That is until we saw that our view was a rooftop with mechanical equipment on it and heard all the noise. Apparently we were on the first floor, a family floor. But, ok, we were only there one night so we didn't complain. We had dinner at Louiza's and were so looking forward to the food, the menu sounded delicious. Our first course was the Greek salad and it was delicious. Our second course was the Iberico ham crostinis which were prosciutto, not iberico ham, but ok, we didn't complain until a gentleman asked us how our food was. Since he asked, we told him the difference in the meat. He went to check with the chef and came back with a lame story about how the ham had been too thick and tough for some guests so they had to purchase thinner cuts. No offense, but we've spent time in Italy and we know the difference between iberico ham and prosciutto. And if you ask chat GPT if these meats are the same, the answer is no. It would have been so much easier for the menu to just list the meat as prosciutto. We decided to share the chefs signature seafood dish and our waitress, Danielle, told us the chef could split it for us. When the two plates came, only one had half a lobster tail split down the length on it and we asked the server who delivered it why one was missing from the second plate. She said she'd check with the chef. After some time, the same gentleman we had the iberico ham conversation with came to our table and informed us that the half of a lobster tail on the one plate was the only one the meal came with. We told him that we had asked the waitress if the lobster was a cold water lobster and she said it was and the menu didn't say a half lobster tail, it said a lobster tail so we didn't know why one half wasn't on each plate. We were never told that only one shareable plate would include a half of a lobster tail. We've lived in New England so we know what a lobster tail looks like. The gentleman told us he'd ordered another and it would be out shortly. At no time during our meal did we have any communication with our waitress, Danielle so when she rudely put our check on the table, told us to fill our the room charge area and left abruptly we were stunned. It was unnecessary for her to treat us that way. This did not meet our expectation for a hotel of their caliber. Sorry to say this was our least stay at a Fairmont resort during our stay in Canada which is unfortunate given the majesty of the resort and its surroundings. Score: Mother Nature: 10 Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise: 2 John and Bernadette Hawkins
As part of our Rocky Mountaineer experience, we spent 2 nights here. When booking our train experience, I opted for the gold room. These rooms do not have a view over the lake. It has a view over the car park, stream and mountains. The room is not that big. It has a king bed which is so comfortable you don’t want to leave. The pillows are a dream to sleep on and the air conditioning works very well, There is an openable window just above the window seat that is comfortable. A good size desk, high back chair, a suit hanger with shoe horn and lint brush. A couple of drawers, tea & coffee, bottles water and luggage rack. Inside the wardrobe are 2 robes and slippers, a safe that is in an awkward position to get to, but manageable if you step into the robe. The bathroom - it is so small. A single vanity with just enough room to have a toilet next to it, then the large walk in shower. If you are a Larger person you will struggle to fit. The water temperature and pressure is good. Having the Gold rooms, we had access to the club on the 7th floor. Breakfast is served which has everything from fruit, cereals, juices, eggs your way and cooked upon request. Bagels, croissants and toast. Enough to satisfy all. Evening canapés where you have to pay for alcohol using an honour system. The hotel is very large and very beautiful. It has all the shops, spa and swimming pool. A beautiful hotel for your stay at Lake Louise.
The location of course cannot be beat and the views are just stunning! We were a family of four and fit comfortably in the Deluxe room with two beds and a lake view. We were surprised that the size of the room was accommodating and liked the lounge chair and little couch and table by the window! The Good: easy and friendly check in, views, accommodating room, nice size, clean, refrigerator, sitting area and comfortable beds, nice closet, windows open with screens for a great breeze. The Concierge texting was very helpful! Hotel shuttle to moraine lake was appreciated. Easy accessible self parking. The Basin is a must and really elevated our experience! Recommendations: Canoes - would wait and do early morning but not sunrise - sunrise cost more and it is pretty cold that early. Do the Teahouse hike early as the trail gets BUSY. We visited the Cafe and alpine social often and found these to have the best options if you’re on the go a lot. Ice cream in shop near Alpine Social! Improvements: Shower is two inches from ceiling - maybe ok if you’re over 6 feet tall but not the best if you’re short. You need to step in and out of a tub that comes above your knees if you’re 5’2”. AC was hard to get just right; works really well but if you increase it turned on heat. Would not recommend Wallister Stube restaurant - service was not good, dining room was hot and stuffy and very overpriced; steaks not prepared as ordered. Difficult to even get reservations at any restaurants. 10pm tossing cornhole right below our window outside on terrace which was a little difficult when getting up at 4:30-5:30 am for sunrise experiences and hikes. Some small attention to detail missing - example: storage junk room at end of terrace with glass doors. Overall great stay and I would recommend for the location and overall comforts of the hotel. Hotel staff were all wonderful!

Dirty hotel! Every surface is "smeared". Room carpet is disgusting! Building is a tacky stucco facade. Rooms are 80's dated! Feels like a Holiday Inn. Children running around and pets everywhere! GROSS. This is not a place for ADULTS who want a premium exerience! They charge a "resort fee" and there is nothing resort about this place. THEN they want to charge you even MORE for access to the outdoor pool area! The GOLD floor serves unhealthy snacks that children eat not adults. No Canadian wine?? Really? Pathetic management. Will NEVER stay at a Fairmont again!
Expected much more for $1400+ USD/night. You are paying to be on the lake which is a huge benefit but this is not a luxury hotel. Rooms were average and service was extremely inconsistent. We got to the hotel after midnight - there were no real food options and our bedding was dirty. When housekeeping came to change it they were not only visibly annoyed but also threw all the dirty bedding onto our belongings. Most of the restaurants were under staffed so the service was so slow. We went to have a drink at the Fairview bar and waited 25 min just for water/menus. When we inquired what was going on the staff was completely unapologetic. We ended up walking out. The family campfire was highly advertised but they only lit one fire, and did not have graham crackers or chocolate or napkins. This may seem like a small complaint but it was one of things my kids were most excited about. On a positive note, they enjoyed the kids club and the hotel did a good job keeping the hotel exclusive to guests so it's not overrun by tourists.
First thing to acknowledge is all of the friendly staff we encountered at the hotel. We did not have one bad experience with them, and I felt that they went above and beyond sometimes. We stayed in the Fairmont Gold rooms at the Chateau and I feel that the gold rooms are worth it at a Fairmont Hotel. The food and extras are a higher quality than many lounge rooms in other hotels. Rooms were very nice, comfortable. clean and quiet. My room also had a gorgeous view of the lake and mountains.
The location and the lake view were great. The in house restaurants were excellent. The Guides Pantry was handy for a fast breakfast. The Concierge staff was always helpful.
The rooms of the premium king are extremely small and have too much furniture for the size of the room. Their pricing of everything feels predatory.

This is a large, somewhat tired hotel in an extraordinary location. You will probably enjoy your stay, but that will be more because of Lake Louise than because of the hotel itself. Service was generally pleasant, but the hotel was extremely inflexible when it came to room changes and guest requests. I booked a one-bedroom suite with a mountain view, which turned out to be more of a parking lot view with a mountain behind it. The room was also directly next to an elevator. Nothing else was available the first night, but the hotel offered to move me to an upgraded room the following night for an additional $1,000. I had booked through Chase, which included a potential upgrade, but the hotel fell back on the familiar explanation that no upgrade was available within the next room category. After an excessive amount of back-and-forth, they reduced the charge to $600. However, the new room was not ready until 4 p.m. the next day, so the move no longer felt worthwhile. They also initially refused to honor the 4 p.m. late checkout benefit. Again, only after a fair amount of haggling did they extend it to 2 p.m. Overall, the hotel did not seem especially interested in doing the right thing—or even simply a nice thing—for the guest. The experience felt very transactional and bottom-line driven. The gym is far too small for a hotel of this size. I also emailed the concierge three times before arriving and never received a response. The food was good enough. I ate at the tavern one night, and the breakfast restaurant was solid. Much of the food-service staff appeared to be college-aged or seasonal exchange workers, and they generally did a nice job. The highlight of the property was the Basin, a newer cold-plunge and sauna experience. It felt modern, luxurious, and completely different from the rest of the hotel. The location, as expected, is exceptional, and that makes up for a lot. A trip to Lake Louise is ultimately about the surrounding area, not the hotel. I just wish the hotel itself lived up a little more to the setting.
Location. Friendly servuce.
No hot water in the morning.
A huge shoutout to the incredible Concierge staff on the Gold Level at the Fairmount Château Lake Louise. They completely elevated our entire trip. From the second we arrived, they anticipated every single need. They secured impossible-to-get dinner reservations, arranged seamless transportation to Moraine Lake and Columbia Icefields, and surprised us with an amazing room with a view of Lake Louise. If you are booking a trip here, do yourself a favor and upgrade to the Gold Level. It is worth every single penny. Thank you to the team for making us feel like royalty! 🥂💼
Really lovely room, free upgrade to lake view, nice hotel, nice grounds, expensive nights accomodation - close to 1000 canadian dollars for the night. Difficult to understand how they can charge a 50 canadian dollar resort fee for use of pool (which we never used), and car parking charge also expensive - location location location
We spent three days at the Fairmont Banff Springs and four days at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. This was a bucket list experience for my wife and I along with my two adult children. The Gold Lounge was incredible just like staying at an all inclusive hotel with fantastic food always available. The Gold Lounge allowed us to spend more time together as a family. Emily in the lounge was so kind and outgoing. The fairmont management deserves special recognition for staffing the lounge with the most outstanding attendants. The best hikes are right outside the back door of the hotel. Thanks to concierge for making arrangements to visit Lake Moraine. The pictures look like they are AI generated. Definitely one of the most beautiful places on the earth. Glacial Basin was the icing on the cake. Another incredible experience...the Disney World of spas with the best views of the lake thru 20 foot picture glass windows. The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise and Fairmont Banff Springs are the crowned jewels of hotels. Nothing else compares.
The location is marvellous and the breakfast very good
Location. Extraordinary
They gave us the worst possible rooms and tried to upsell us when we asked for a better location. Service is sub par. Took 1.5 hours for room service to provide us with coffee mugs. Restaurants are overpriced and underwhelming. .
The property is beautiful. Great amenities, the Basin is amazing and Lake Louise is beautiful m we had a room facing the lake.
Nothing!
First-class hotel. Splendid architecture and breathtaking views!
This is a big hotel that really has it figured out. Everything, check-in, food, spa, check-out, was seamless. Basin Glacial Waters is an awesome experience, one I'll never forget. The lake views are insane. Rooms on the smaller end, but to be expected. Would absolutely return.
This really is a stand out hotel (literally!). It is HUGE! Slightly weird Stalinist architecture in such a wondrous natural setting - inside it has the feel of an old Victorian hotel, all chandeliers and dark furnishings. It is also a bit like Piccadilly Circus in the public rooms as it is so large and the public use it (quite rightly, no other facilities at the actual Lake Louise). Our room was a haven of calm, we had a lake view - wonderful room with all mod cons and comfortable bed, nice seating and bathroom. Definitely worth staying here albeit the most expensive hotel on our itinerary! PS we were disappointed that the infinity pool overlooking the lake is part of the expensive Spa (£250 for a session) so not available to guests. The ‘free’ pool was nice but not special, as I would have expected.
View 最高。 スタッフの対応も優れた。 言うこと無し。
The property was stunning!
It's hard to review the hotel separate from the natural setting of Lake Louise and anyone that has visited knows what I am talking about. The beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains is breathtaking. The hotel is positioned to take advantage of the scenery locating its spa, pool and restaurants to capture this beauty. A wellness area was completed last year that helps round out the emphasis on outdoor activities. The rooms are European in size but most have a direct view of the lake so you don't notice. Food prices are high but the price you pay is worth the experience. I woke up very early just to get the right daylight for a photo from my room. You be the judge!
We dined at the Louisa restaurant on June 18th. We had a fabulous waitress whose name was Maxine. Very friendly and helpful. She took great great of us and would recommend you try this restaurant.
The shower was clogged as soon as we turned on the shower. We had to call 3 times and waited over 2 hours to finally have someone come after room service promised they were sending someone right away.
Loved everything. Comfortable beds lovely views. Good service
Loved it all. Can’t find a fault
Location, staff, food, service
We looked forward to staying at this hotel as part of our family holiday and it did not disappoint! The rooms were of the standard expected, the view over a partially frozen Lake Louise was out of this world and the hotel staff were all very pleasant. One small exception was a waiter in the Louiza restaurant who wouldn’t let my wife order her lamb well done as it would “ruin the meat” which we thought was a bit of an odd response to a customer’s request. That aside, the staff were great and one negative interaction wasn’t going to “ruin” our experience. The hotel is well equipped for families, there’s a kids check in desk which our daughter loved and the swimming pool has family sessions too. Externally, the footpath that runs the full length of the lake is very accessible and offered fantastic views back down towards the hotel. A wee hidden gem was the “living room” area situated above the main foyer. It has free drinks for hotel guests and plenty of by comfy couches. Lovely stay and we’ll certainly be back.
The property was a convenient location to really embrace the lake. They had a lot of hotel activities such as kids check-in with treasure box kids craft party s'mores at the fire and they had an adult cocktail class that you do need to register in advance all included.
The rooms felt a little small
Die Lage
Der Service, die Zimmergröße und das gesamte Umfeld entsprechen nicht dem Anspruch des Hotels und dem Preis. Daher die schlechte Bewertung, wenn gleich es ein tolles Erlebnis ist.
Clean and regal
We went for lunch but did not stay over. We didn’t know that Fairview Restaurant only has afternoon tea. We requested a move and were well accommodated! Ended up at Louiza with an amazing server, Ajay. Delicious food and drinks . Great view of Lake Louise. And the front desk decided to comp our parking fee!
We booked a King Size Room. When we arrived they asked us if this was a special occasion. When they found out it was for a significant birthday they looked after us VERY well! Cannot rate the check in service more highly.
Nothing everything was brilliant!
Location was great, front desk and concierge staff wonderful Rooms were spotless and comfortable and fabulous view
Disappointed in the Alpine Social staff and food considering this is a five star expensive resort I had higher expectations Drinks from the bar were great - server came and took our menus after we ordered drinks and we called her over … she asked are you concerned about the time for our order …. We told her she forgot to take our order.. she thought we were another table apparently.. then when food came it was barely average and not worth the amount we paid Just based on this and a few other experiences I would not come stay again this was not worth the value
Chose a lake view king, but they offered a room where we had to look in diagonal to even be able to see the lake. The waiter at the Fairview restaurant didn't give good service and didn't seem to care, told me "thanks for the assist" when he noticed we had been needing to refill our wine glasses ourselves. The burrata was very bland, I wouldn't consider this a foodie destination at all. There was a smoke alarm problem in our room on arrival which took a good 30 minutes to fix so we had to put our clothes back on and chill with a maintenance guy in the room as our desire dwindled.
As a loyal Hyatt Globalist and Hilton Diamond member, I am well-accustomed to high-tier elite recognition, but the service I received as a Fairmont Gold guest at this property completely raised the bar. I have never felt so genuinely welcomed and well taken care of. This was my first time staying at a Fairmont property, and the world-class, personable service left an incredible impression. In particular, I want to formally recognize Fernaldy at the Fairmont Gold Reception. He went entirely above and beyond to make our stay memorable, demonstrating the kind of exceptional hospitality that makes you want to return. Additionally, Evan at the Walliser Stube, Caitlynn at the Louisa provided exceptional, high-level service that was absolutely flawless. The facilities and the iconic location itself were just as breathtaking and wonderful as expected. Thanks to the outstanding care from team members like Fernaldy, Evan, and Caitlynn, I will absolutely be looking to book Fairmont properties wherever my future travels take me. Management should be incredibly proud of this team!
Unfortunatly we experienced many errors which was unfortunate, however the conceirege, royal service and driving team couldnt have done more to rectify and find alternatives, so for this reason we are very happy. Dennys the driver rescued us twice and helped us find info for our onward journey. Only downside and suprise given prices, was a lack or privicy and peace for hotel guests. Outside the cafe, visitors were sat covering the floor and thw lake view was loud and full. Not much that can be done and the hotel dont own the lake. We had a beautiful meal in walliser stube with great staff. Breakfast menu and buffet were lovely and fresh. stunning terrace for cocktails and food with heaters. We took a short guided hike - our guide kevin was so informative and worked with the groups differing abilities. Overall great stay!
Everything. We had an amazing stay.
The only very minor things were the water pressure in the shower was a bit too low and and it was difficult to find a convenient power point when ironing.
the views are magnificent! the staff are lovely and cant help enough, a special shout out to Tash at the concierge desk, she is a darling! the prices are high for dining etc but you wont be disappointed, highlights were lunch and dinners at the Lakeview, looking over Lake Louise and enjoying the sunset over the mountains from my room. The hikes from the hotel are lovely and I highly recommend you do them all! bear spray and any other gear you need can be borrowed from the hotel. Staying at the lake once all the visitors go is really nice!
The view is beautiful, the location and the castle itself are wonderful and breath taking. The service at Fairview as well as reception were excellent.
It was disappointing for the price. We would encourage the hotel to work on the following: 1) The hotel lobby and rooms are old and feel cold- they need refurbishment, 2) the food quality is poor (appart from Fairview), 3) Th restaurants’ service need more flexibility and should be turned towards customers not processes (we have gone to 4 restaurants - the Swiss fondue restaurant was particularly bad and for breakfast, the menu included an Acai bowl with no acai), 4) we wanted to try the spa for the 90min period offered but no flexibility was offered time wise.
Wonderful overnight stay. Special thanks to Josh on reception who made our stay perfect! 🙏
Location
They charge nearly 3000$ per day and it doesn’t include parking / breakfast / high teas. Hotel is exploiting high prices only due to proximity to lake Louise which can be assessed with 40$ parking fee.
A totally FABULOUS hotel with the most beautiful surroundings and excellent customer service. I booked a room with full lake view and it was exactly what I got when I opened the door. Very luxurious but its what I expected. The choice of restaurants to suit everyone was a bonus I'd recommend the Lake view lounge. The meal and food was fantastic, well presented and served and staff very attentive. Lovely walks and sights around the hotel to explore . Whilst the parking on site is a tad expensive but you need to park somewhere.
