Location is good

Old rooms converted. Creaky doors. Creaky floors. Shower looked about 20 years old. Breakfast was so poor. Nothing was fresh. £200 for a night here is daylight robbery

The bedroom,514,had a non flushing toilet!Informed receptionist and while out it was looked at.On return poorly worked once! Hardly any water filling for flushing! Unacceptable and prevent any future stay! Not value for money unless we receive a lower price/ refund!?

No safe entering the hotel. There is a homeless camp at the back of the hotel. You need to walk through this to go between car and hotel. The smell of human faeces and urine is overwhelming also. I was hassled on numerous occasions and felt unsafe. Bathroom was also old and mouldy.

Stayed for business and found that the hotel was adequate for a one night stay. The room was clean, parking provided , friendly knowledgeable staff and in a good location with parking facilities.

The room decor was slightly dated and in need of some modernisation

The room was rather clean and tidy, the bed itself was also very comfortable, sheets and beddings were clean and not ruined, no stains or odours from pillows, etc, and nothing major to complain about. The hotel restaurant was also clean. For the breakfast itself, the food was fine.

Hotel location was at the centre of town which meant quite a bit of noise. Breakfast was the most unsatisfactory because the machine provided for self serve coffee was broken and unusable, and the staff brought lower quality instant coffee in a thermal flask, which we did not fully appreciate.

Place was very clean and staff were very helpful and friendly .

Beds were so uncomfortable was like lying on concrete both the bed and pillows i suffer with a bad back and waiting for an operation and its just added to the pain, air conditioning was just making a noise would not turn up or down and the tap just dripped from getting in the room to going home, came for the wife's 40th with the family as we were booked in a restaurant for tea and thought we would relax after rather than drive home late but would of been easier to drive home after for comfort

Location was great. Staff were friendly and the was nice and big and spacious.

The room was not cleaned after the 2nd night. I came back in the evening to find that the room wasn’t cleaned.

The room was a standard hotel room, but with very comfortable beds. There were leisure facilities on site including a pool. Good selection at the breakfast buffet of hot and cold items.

Poor soundproofing. Noisy in the middle of the night when people come back talking noisily in corridors and in rooms before embarking on loud adult activities. Large dirty stain on the carpet and long hairs in the bathroom.

The jet facilities and the swimming pool area were nice, however not usable due to old people walking up and down

On arrival, it was not clear on how to park, the reception was not warm and welcoming. I was given my room. I went out and checked my room. The areas were dirty blackhead left over at the shower area. Breakfast was okay, however the selection was very very small due to it had run out and wasn’t restocked at time of visit, there was no check-in on how my day was no feedback. The area was rundown. I was approached by a few homeless people outside the hotel

Initially we was given a room which the sink was blocked and had water and dirt in it the phone was all dusty upon returning back to reception as we could not call down the phone was also broken we was moved to another room but nothing else was offered for the inconvenience caused

We stayed here on a Ogdens Coach Tour for an overnight stay. We have stayed at this. hotel previously . Check in was quick and we were in our room 217. A nice big room with all typical amenities you would. expect. All well with the room,but can't say the same with the evening meal. Was very disappointed with the meal. From the soup starter to the main course all were luke warm. The meals had only just put out and had not been out under the heating lamps long enough. Most of the coach complained aout the cold meals. The two lady's serving were obviously supervisors and were friendly. I did notice that the barman Connor, also was working in the restaurant and again he was in the reception on me leaving. He was a friendly hard working young man. I ask is there a shortage of staff at this hotel? Breakfast was very good in the morning plenty of choice and hot. Hope te meals can be sorted out, it won't take much to improve them.

Has seen better days. Single bed in the room was very uncomfortable. Breakfast was mediocre at best, unfortunately also put off by absolute horrific body odour from a server. Really unacceptable

On check in, I was with my partner who had driven us to the hotel. I was sorting check in as the booking was in my name. I was met with a comment 'you wont need parking i see' (i had a tinned spirit drink in my hand) which i felt was a rude and unnecessary comment.

Honestly just a great price and room was ideal. Always really rate this hotel. Friendly staff too.

Tired and in need of refurb in rooms

Good hotel just minutes from the railway station. Hotel is located close to city centre, and hence convenient, and a short walk away from the Teesside University - the main purpose of my visit to Middlesbrough was for some work at the University, and the hotel location served me well. Breakfast was very good and served with a warm smile by the team at the restaurant. My partner and I also visited the restaurant later to relax and watch some football. The serving team was amazingly friendly, and also chatted with me about the football world cup and specifically England's chances in the tournament. :) We will return to this hotel if we come back to Middlesbrough.

Perhaps just a random incident, but there was an issue with water supply to the room one day. Upon inquiry, we were informed of a "water tank cleaning" in progress. Something like this could have been informed beforehand to help guests plan around the cleaning time. Another thing to look into is the telephone in the room. Ours didn't work properly which meant I had to go downstairs to the reception to speak to the front office when I needed something. Please take the above feedback positively from an otherwise happy guest. And it's true - I am overall quite happy with everything the hotel offered.

That I had to pay £8:00 for parking, as we stayed in the Hampton by Hilton in Stockton the night before. Top marks, very clean, quiet, and very professional staff. But the main thing was FREE PARKING!!!

I arrived and wasn’t aware of the £8 parking charge, I asked for the 1st floor as I’m disabled and petrified of lifts I was put on the 3rd floor, I phoned room service for 3 hours no answer I phoned reception they said it was off until 5pm, I called back no answer for another 2 hours and then no answer from reception. I called the gym to see about swimming to be told it was full and no more customers were allowed in.

The room I stayed in wasn’t very well cleaned (see photos), and also in need of some renovation (again, see photos). Thankfully the bed was clean, but the rest of It was somewhat grubby, to be honest. I’m attaching the photos because I hope that seeing them will prompt the hotel management to have a word with the cleaning staff. My biggest issue was being unable to get a good night sleep, because I stayed in July and the room was clammy and hot at night. My room had no aircon (not even a thermostat), and while opening the window cooled things down, I then had to contend with noise from the city. The FAQ on the website promises that “each room has individually controlled climate settings for year-round comfort”, so that seems to be a falsehood for whatever reason. To give credit were it’s due, the ribeye steak from the restaurant was surprisingly good.

There was arguing and aggressive behaviour between staff and another guest when we arrived which made my partner upset and uncomfortable staying

I tried to think of something to grumble about but couldn't think of anything so I left a tip instead. Very comfortable, location very central to explore the town.

Food available in the evenings was OK, but expected it to be a little more upmarket for a 4* hotel.

Was told that the swimming pool is open until 7pm as i wanted to take my 3 years old for a little splash, however the lady (Claire) from sewimming pool said she is going home at 6:45 and she won’t let us in even for 5 min..when i asked to see the schedule and the rules of swimming pool she said she doesn’t have to show me anything and that i can go out..after i asked the receptionist for policy nd schedule and never got them..awuful service and behaviour..very rude and careless about their customers.
