Good sized room. Comfy bed. Good breakfast.

Booking dot com says breakfast is 7.00 till 9.30 Staff at venue wanted orders in by 8.30 and tidied away breakfast bar items 9.00 or earlier, staff were polite and chatty but this was off putting and made you feel rushed. Shower temperature went up and down as you showered. On our first night there 2 of the cars in the carpark were broken into by having their side window smashed.

The Room was Clean & well Ventilated when I arrived. My room was @ the front of the Hotel, adjacent busy road, but could not hear the traffic noise. Large selection on Breakfast Menu, my choice was well cooked & hot when served.

I cannot find any fault with anything during my stay, everything was as I expected, welcoming & friendly Staff, good service all round. I will be staying @ this Hotel again.

Easy to check in and out. Bar and resturant on site. Very quiet in the rooms. Very comfortable bed.

Cleanliness was only okay, there were foreign hairs in the bathroom and bed and the mug had dark stains in it.

Conveniently located for access to Middlesbrough but also to what lies on the doorstep within North Yorkshire and the moors. Room was immaculate and spacious. Choices of continental or cooked breakfast were beautifully presented.

We have used the hotel a few times and every time the staff have been very friendly and helpful. While we were there our car was broken into in the car park and the staff were very supportive and helped us a lot

Location

Room was well equipped and unusually these days included an iron and ironing board. Breakfast and other food menu was varied reasonably value for money. The hotel is convenient for the places we wanted to visit.

The room was on the first floor and the hotel does not have a lift. It was also a long way from and on another floor to that of my travelling companion despite asking for rooms close together. The hotel reception was not manned on our arrival and we had a bit of a wait to check in.

Hotel was really nice, staff were so friendly and helpful! Didn't hear any noise from downstairs

Only issue we had was our key card would stop working in the morning for the room but the staff quickly sorted it out for us

We had dogs with us and plenty of outdoor space

Check In was prompt & met with friendly & helpful Staff Member, Room was Clean, Warm & Clean Linen & Towels. Very Quiet & Peaceful @ Night, so a Good Sleep. Wide variety of choice for Breakfast, which was Cooked to perfection & the right temperature when served @ your table.

Due to the Hotel facilities being open to the Public it was @ times very busy with Families, leaving a mess @ the Tables vacated, the Staff kept up with clearing away the mess left, but some families were extra messy.

The room was clean. A good sized car park .

The furniture and floor in the bar/restaurant was filthy. It was sticky and grubby.

We had a twin room that was small, but big enough for the two if us. Bathroom was OK, although it had some damage around the plaster above the skirting board. Beer was cold and tasty. Plenty of free car parking spaces.

Food was horrendous as usual (unless you like green king pub chain food). I am always disappointed with the food at Green King.

Convenient location for our trip and also pet friendly. Decent pub/food and good outside grounds for walking the dogs.

Hotel insgesamt etwas abgebraucht, könnte Auffrischung vertragen. Wir mussten beim Frühstück nach Toastbrot fragen, bekamen dann 2 Scheiben, doch dann wurde das Buffet abgeräumt. Wobei wir auch erst 8.45h im Frühstücksraum waren. Den Cappuccino mussten wir extra bezahlen, kostenlos gab es Tee und (Filter?)Kaffee aus einer Kanne. Wir kämen trotz dieser Puinkte wieder.

The Highfield Hotel is lovely, staff really welcoming and helpful, food tasty and good value, the bedroom was great, bed was really comfortable and had a peaceful nights sleep. The atmosphere was lovely, sat outside in the sunshine Saturday evening it was really relaxing and chilled. I think Highfield Hotel is a hidden gem in Middlesbrough. Thank you we had a lovely stay :)

Very clean and comfortable rooms, massive bedroom and bathroom. Only trouble was the bathroom sink plug but sorted it quickly.

Friendly staff, decent rooms, all a bit dated but clean and good size. Adjacent pub with local crowd and decent food, also serves as breakfast room. Buffet style continental and warm breakfast cooked to order, a big plus. All in all, a pleasant experience and well worth the visit.

De picknickbanken voor het hotel waar je lekker buiten kon zitten en een drankje drinken.

We konden nergens onze fietsen veilig stallen, daar werd niet over meegedacht. Ze moesten buiten blijven staan en men heeft geprobeerd ze ‘‘s nachts te stelen. Gelukkig heeft een gast van het hotel de dieven betrapt en de politie gebeld.

Offerings for the continental breakfast could be a bit better. The orange and other fruit juice are often in short supply and there is no boiling water for tea. Having said that there is a reasonable selection of cereals and pastries ans the staff quickly replace anything that runs out.

Avoid room 7, it has a very small window no fresh air or breeze. The security door from the pub area to the bedrooms was not working therefore pub clients could access the corridor to the rooms. Room was just about acceptable but there was black mould on the ceiling in the bathroom. Breakfast - I could have a fried egg or scrambled but the staff were unable to cook a poached egg. Evening meal in the bar was extremely poor, I was served cold chips cold peas and a non sizzling - sizzling steak which was not cooked medium rare, well I guess you cant cook that in a microwave to that level. All the meals appear to be microwave meals. I would not choose to eat or sleep here again.

The location was perfect for us as we were attending parkrun in Albert Park. A large pub with very large garden. Rooms were large enough with nice facilities.

Our room was very hot because the weather was very hot and a window would not open.

I had my dog with me and was pleased that we were on the ground floor so I could take her outside easily. Staff were attentive and friendly.

There was a homeless guy outside and everyone was saying he was dead. I had fled DV with my five year old daughter and as you can imagine this was quite distressing so we left and didn’t stay for the third night. People smoking weed in the outdoor seating area which was highly inappropriate for a family pub

I was awakened on Sunday morning at 6am by several vans and lorries that had turned up to collect bottles from bottle bank and rubbish from skip..directly outside my bedroom..this went on for over an hour! My stay and break were ruined due to lack of sleep! Hotel staff including manager were appalling. They said this happens every Sunday and that it was a 'council issue'..not theirs! Wtf? Booking.com customer services have also been frustrating and a poor service provided. I shall be contacting my bank for a refund.

Very comfortable mattress and pillows, crisp sheets. Quiet, despite being on a busy road. Convenient for the James Cook hospital, which we needed. Lovely park behind the hotel.

The Hungry Horse menu. Very few healthy options. There was a break in one night and the police had to come out. We were woken by the break in, then again two hours later by someone repairing the broken window at 5am.

Last time I stayed it was very poor. This time it was clean tidy and the bathroom was updated.

After the booking was confirmed and non transferable I found out there would be no breakfast available.. I was initially advised by the business I should cancel and rebook the accommodation without the breakfast however this was after I was locked in the booking.. Drove to local Aldi and purchased cereals.. kept milk cool in the bathroom sink. Also the room wasn't clean as previous occupants sock on the floor.. I bent down to investigate and also discovered carpet full of hairs so not hoovered up to well ..

Staff pouring selves and drinking after hours. Not a problem with tgat, however but this did not apply to me and my wife as paying guests staying two nights Customer has a tab and gets drinks poured after hours. I was refused drinks after 11pm. I was told after the fact that I would h to have paid before 11pm and have my drinks poured then although I was not ready for them. Was unaware of this and we are very disappointed what spoiled our stay. This did not apply to staff or the as told the regular customer who was still being poured drinks at 11.30pm

Bedding was clean.

Peeling walls and ceiling Dirty carpet External areas of the shower were dire, badly needed cleaning. The Fire escape stairwell was absolutely filthy - last image. Food was also dire, only edible thing on the plate were the chips, meat looked and tasted like it had been reheated from the weekend. Please see below I received from our Contract Manger who stayed there: 'Thank you for booking but one to omit going forward. I would be pushed to let my dogs stay here. Room is not good to say the least. I won’t be having a shower in morning. Food even worse, had a mixed grill but only chips were edible, think the meat was heated up from weekend. Yuk. Sitting in car having a beer as cannot sit in that room.'

The Room was Warm & Clean, Bed was comfortable with additional Pillows if required. Good selection of Breakfast Food, which was well cooked & hot when served to your table. Car Park covered by CCTV, with ample Parking, my Car was left all Week End & no damage to report.

I was Roomed on the 3rd Floor, there isn`t a Lift in the Bldg. I am a Smoker, so had to go outdoors for a cigarette, so was very tiring for me Up & Down the Stair regularly. I am up early each morning, staying in a single room, there was only Tea or Coffee making facilities for 2 x Cups, I would prefer more facilities to make more cups of Tea or Coffee.

Location, food and drink was great. Outside area was really good too.

Room was way too hot. Radiator on when we arrived which we turned off along with the towel rack. When we came back later on, it was still too warm even with window open.

Large pub with hotel rooms. Room nicely refurbished and lovely and clean. On-site pub food was good value. Loads of parking. No lift which is a shame when you have heavy luggage.

Amazing friendly staff, great location for us. The room was amazing, very large compared to other places we've stayed. The room was quiet as well, considering it's was a very busy pub.

Food in the Hungry Horse was not good. Mattress felt quite uncomfortable. It was loud in the night when people were either coming in or going out of their rooms. We have stayed here a few times and always found it a good value, comfortable stay so we were surprised with these few negatives (though we know you cannot do much about other guests).

Had to ask for extra towels, cup & drinks sachets as only 1 towel, cup etc. for the 2 of us. No towel rail in bathroom- very small so had to hang to dry over chair in bedroom. As our room was opposite the stairs the door there slammed shut every time residents used the stairs.

The items for the Continental Breakfast could be better. The croissants could have been heated and fresher and milk and juices ran out, though they were quickly replenished. There was no fruit on one of the the three mornings. There was no boiling water so tea could not be made properly. I had to opt for coffee which I would not choose normally.

I've stayed in the Highfield Hotel many times and attended funtions there. I had a lovely room on the ground floor and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were friendly and welcoming. If I had been staying more than one night I would have asked for a heater for my room.

I was surprised by the chill in the room and managed to close the windows. It was only much later I noticed the radiator wasn't working and I woke in the night feeling very cold. In the morning I propped the door open with a chair, so some of the heat from the hallway heated my room. I reported the broken radiator to the receptionist.

Big Room, with Twin Beds pushed together, even though I was a single guest. Room/Linen all Clean, Tea/Coffee @ hand. Bed very comfortable, with extra Sheets & Pillows available if required. Good selection of Breakfast on the Menu, the Food well cooked & Hot when served to Table.

I could not really fault the Hotel/Staff & Food in anyway. The Hotel did get busy, due to an Easter function being organized by the Hotel Staff for local Children & Parents, the function was well Managed.

The room was huge (much bigger than expected) and was well decorated - modern but tasteful. There was a king sized and a single beds, as well as a wardrobe, desk and bedside cabinets. The room was fully equipped with 3 extra pillows, an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer withouth even needing to request these. There was lots of free parking available, too.

There were not many towels for three people, which was fine for us for one night but if we had been staying longer and all needed showers we may have struggled. The bathroom light was also incredibly bright and the door directly opposite the kingsized bed, so when our daughter went to the toilet in the night, the light woke us up.

Location is perfect for us, we stay here regularly. It’s a lovely building.parking is included in the cost.

Lovely stay. Was worried when I seen pets do stay but couldn’t smell a hint of dog! Clean room. Ideal for food. Parking was ample.
