Friendly staff.
Not very clean. The cooked breakfast both mornings was cold. Restaurant was shut one night.
Good enough location for city
Appalling room allocation for single female traveller
staff were friendly
Really hard to find, booking.com locations take you to the other side of the road. Bathroom wasn’t really clean and the shower was cold. No sockets next to the bed. Breakfast was fine but £10 for food that wasn’t really that fresh is a lot.
I did not have breakfast, parking challenges, and expensive
No house keeping provided during my entire stay, bed not made, dirt tools not removed, toilet paper not supplied, and house keys not working every evening and had to go to reception for resetting. On asking why house keeping was to given, I was told I had to request, QR Code, but code was not working. Manual entry for house keeping was entered, but still no house keeping given. One member of staff was giving exercises of staff shortages.
It’s was absolute rubbish an skinn of smoke an weads an dirty every where i have left the hotel withen 2 hours
Nothing
I liked the staff friendliness and the size of the room and the tea making facilities and the fact that the room had a bath which I always enjoy. I checked in early and had a cup of tea and a bath before going out.
The signage for the hotel is the Best Western and although on Google maps the two names are on the same block I didn't realize there exact same hotel so I walked around in circles or some time before asking somebody who came out of the best Western who said it was the same thing and when you get closer you can see the metropolitan hotel signage but it isn't visible from a distance. The apart from that I enjoyed my stay very much.
Friendly enough, but little else to recommend
Shower rail fell off, meaning you had to hold shower head to have a shower. My son's room also had a shower that could not be adjusted and was luke warm at best Rooms very dated and not overly comfortable. Hotel was very noisy internally, and had vans turning up through the night to the fenced off migrant hotel next door. Location was therefore not great. Hotel was hot, meaning windows had to be left open at night, hence issues with the noise. Overall, a really poor experience.
Good location and close to shops and entertainment venues.
Room was a bit dated. Had breakfast on both days during our stay. Which we were charged £10 each for the first day hot food was over cooked and not enjoyable. The next day I was asked if wanted cooked or continental breakfast we went continental £5 each.. We wasn’t given this option on the first day. Also rather disappointed that there was no butter on both days.
Central location. The staff were very friendly and helpful and professional. The room was immaculate clean.
There wasn't any plug sockets by the bedside units

Good price central
Very cheap, very spacious room, very clean light room and excellent location for the Crucible theatre
No issues
Great location Comfy bed Good shower
Small car park charges £10 Only one lift working Carprts could do with a good spring clean
Friendly and accommodating staff
One lift not working was unfortunate
Staff from of house. Especially Graham. Perfect parking spot
Hard to find. It would change its sign outside.
Friendliness of staff
Trying to find the hotel

Location and price. Excellent value for money, 10 mins to train station.
Restaurant lacking but new owners probably not yet up to speed. Struggled to find it as the old owners signs were still up. Overall excellent value for money.
I double booked and still not had my money go back in bank rang booking . Com up told staff said be back in my bank still not happened?
Everything was good and good value for money. Staff very pleasant and helpful.
No hand soap. Breakfast good but could have been warmer
I enjoyed the nice view at the 8th floor and a very spacious room. The guy in the reception was very kind and professional.
Sockets not close to the bed but I totally understand
Location and price was great.
Hotel is very dated and the entramce/reception is not at all pleasant. The rooms are a good size but again, they are dated. Can't really complain for £58 for a night as the bed was fine and the bathroom was clean (although the shower never really got warm).
Nothing totally opposite the pics been posted online
Nothing.we got there around rooms were not ready.came back after 3 and half hour only one room ready other one still not ready.we have to wait for another 1 hour 45 minutes.i would rather sleep in car than this place
Comfy bed, nice bedding, friendly & helpful staff, good location
Car park was quite dark & hard to find, just needs more lighting
Easy and quick check in
Parking space limited and the £10 charges were a bit expensive in Sheffield.
Nothing
The hotel had an unpleasant odor, and the bed was broken, making noises whenever someone sat on it. The chairs by the dresser were also dirty, with visible stains and dirt on the fabric.
In centro, prezzo giusto.
Price and value for money
Hall way was cluttered
The room was spacious and clean, coffee and tea available overall really good. Breakfast really good value at £10 each and it's very good quality.
One of the lifts was out of action which slowed things up a bit but these things can't be helped, small inconvenience.
TAP in bathroom
Decent location.
They had a new chef on our first morning and the breakfast was atrocious. Luckily the second morning was better.
Poor Delay in food available
Beds & pillows were really comfy. Location was good
Breakfast was average, not much to shout about certainly for £10 each
Nothing
All of it
The staff were all friendly and did all they could to make things right
Lift broken. Looked shabby. Not enough parking for the hotel size. Th area is going to be nice when regenerated but not great currently
Price and stuff were great
End of the hallway by lifts, day old linen, and rubbish it stunk.
Good central location. Comfortable bed.
Weak shower Extra for parking and extra for breakfast. Noisy in the night with people banging doors multiple times.
Handy location , simple and clean room
I didn’t have one as it was expensive
The carpet was badly stained
Location was ideal for my needs, room was comfortable and clean. Staff were helpful. Reasonably priced.
One of the lifts was out of action and appeared to have been for awhile. Breakfast buffet was not a buffet at all, asked for white bread for toast and was told they didn't have any because what they had was out of date. Reception looked more like a storage room than a welcoming first impression
Nothing
Clean, comfortable and good value for money
Priced well, staff appeared friendly
The nearby area is a bit dodgy, roon quite hot, no shower curtain
The double bed was made of two single mattresses that kept separating during the night making it impossible to get a good sleep
Staff were polite, room was reasonable size and comfortable enough
Should have been a twin bed and have a sofa bed in the room but was a double bed and sofa bed. Not really an issue as sofa bed decent enough but not what was expected.
Great rooms. Comfy beds Nice and quiet
The room was comfortable, clean, nice view......

Had a odd smell lingering and seemed unclean. Wasn’t very comfortable. Lovely staff in need of some tlc
Late check in welcomed, free tea/coffee; good breakfast offer; no issues Good price for 24 hrs onsite parking
Nice big room with a bath and a shower and a mini fridge
No air con room was very hot
The price (£75) for a city centre hotel when everywhere else in town was at least double that due to events being on. Dog friendly (£25 charge) and secure car park adjacent (£15 for 24 hours). On Victoria Quays and a 13 minute walk to the Crucible. Large room with skyline views. Kettle, big mugs, fridge, water provided. Comfy king size bed, large bathroom, window that opens. Over worked staff were super friendly and helpful. Great place just to crash out after the theatre.
As others have said, the hotel needs a bit of TLC and, whilst not dirty, needs a deeper clean. Lift still not working. Says Best Western on the outside which is confusing. That said, for the cost, what do you expect and we would definitely stay again.
Nice place and friendly staff

Everything is superb 👌
Location , nice staff .

Convenient location
The hotel needs a lot of tlc. Staff was few and far between and quite a lot of stuff wasn't working - coffee machine, lift etc
The room and staff were lovely. However it was about 30º in the room. There was a fan which was a life saver though.
Great location, clean
Don’t book this hotel in peak summer. No aircons in the rooms it was honestly unbearable to the point it made me sick
Nothing to like other than the friendly guy on reception.
We didn't stay because the room was in an absolutely disgusting condition. The moment we walked in we were hit with a strong, unpleasant smell that made the room feel unclean straight away. As we looked around, it became obvious that cleanliness had been completely neglected. The bed was covered in stains and hairs, and every part of the room we checked looked dirty. We didn't feel comfortable sitting on the bed, let alone sleeping in it. We ended up leaving immediately and paying for another hotel because we couldn't justify staying in a room in that condition. This was one of the worst hotel experiences we've had, and it's unacceptable that a room like this was considered ready for guests.
Breakfast was good
No elevator, no ac, customer service at the front desk is very poor
Breakfast was good and good price
No ac, no elevator
Rooms where very clean and comforable
The temperature inside the room was vey hot. We had the window open full with a fan provided running on full. The fan want the best and didnt cool us down much so sleep wasnt the best
Rooms very spacious
Dog biscuit on the floor in our room, paid for a larger bed and got given 2 singles pushed together. We then asked for the room we booked and they changed it with ease but it was the same - just 2 beds pushed together just the other way around so both of our bums were slowly falling down the crack through the night which was very uncomfortable.
Easy to find. Near where I needed to be. Clean and comfortable.
Nothing
The whole company is a joke. After arriving after 10pm we arrived tired with a baby and myself being disabled, we got informed the lift was out of order and all rooms are on floor above onwards. This was a Monday evening and the lifts had been out of service since the Saturday. I was unable to get to room. 2 men on reception said they couldn't help and as I have booked with booking.com and paid them I would have to contact them for a refund. So we ended up stranded late at night after finding a hotel that time of night that could take us we finally arrived at midnight but had to travel from Sheffield to Doncaster! Booking.com informed me that without the hotel confirming and returning booking to them they couldn't refund. I messaged hotel myself many times and could not get any direct help or an answer. Booking.com encounted same issue but eventually had a response saying that they have me as staying that night!!! So would not refund. Absolutely disgusting messages I have from them are full of apologises ect then they say this. So it ended up a very traumatic and tiring night and very very expensive as we had 2 rooms booked here, then had to travel to Doncaster and pay for another 2 rooms at Premier inn. I still cant believe for a melia hotel this one runs like that
Locai
I got bed bug bites
There was no air conditioning in the room. A fan was provided, which was appreciated, but it was a little too far from the bed to be very effective for me personally.
Staff were very friendly.
It was very hot in the hotel and the room
Not one thing
Hard to find the entrance. Lobby smelled of urine. We found a drink can in the bedside table thing . You could either have the tv on or the fan!
Unfortunately the rooms were in a poor condition, there was broken furniture and fittings in the room, the room had been cleaned but it definitely wasn't a deep clean as there were hairs in the carpet. The worse thing though, and I know we have had a heatwave, was the rooms were just so hot and stifling. The was a floor standing fan in the room but that didn't really do anything to help and although the window opened a little there was little to know fresh air getting into the room. I did leave a uncomfortable night's sleep. I will say that having no hot water for a shower on the Sunday morning was actually a pleasant relief from the heat of the room.
Good value for a one night stay Big room with en-suite Included tea and coffee making facilities
Room was incredibly stuffy with no air-con Although fans were provided
Ok. Choice ok. Rooms very spacious. Staff helpful.
Not much fruit at breakfast.
Rooms were a good size and very comfortable for a short stay staff were friendly and very helpful
The lifts wasn’t working when we arrived so being on floor 8 then floor 9 was hard work after 2 days at a festival which we know isn’t the fault of the hotel just the only inconvenience experienced
Easy check in. Good value for money. Extremely comfortable beds. Attentive staff.
In need of a little TLC. Car park was small for the size of hotel, but we always found a space.
The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city centre, around about a 7 - 10 minute walk to the centre. The room was large, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Did not eat at the hotel but bar prices were very reasonable.
The only issue was the lifts not working and this had been highlighted prior to our stay by other guests over a few weeks. Parking was an issue bu thanks to the reception staff, it was all sorted OK. I didn't like ppeople moaning about the cost and where the hotel wa situated.......Your not paying for the Ritz so these people need to manage thier expectations accordingly.
The staff were lovely.
The lifts didn't work all the time we were there. There was not hot water in the shower.
Helpful guy on reception and in the bar.
We have stayed here many times before but on our two night stay this time the lift was out of order. The staff were helpful and placed us on as low a floor as possible, but it was pretty rubbish having to hump luggage up three flights of stairs in the heat at my age and condition (I'm a pensioner with heart problems). We also previously enjoyed a drink and pizza in the bar on a Sunday but now the bar doesn't open on Sundays. Shame.
Size of room
Lift out or order Room had no air conditioning but did have a fan
Yes was clean the room
Both lifts where out action and when you have health conditions and not been notified that lifts where out of action I had to walk up stairs to 4th floor that sent my blood pressure sky high very lucky to be alive
We luckily managed to park on the small carpark out front. The beds were comfy and clean.
When we arrived around 8 pm, there was a problem with the door key, which meant the person on reception had to let us into our room. After going out for dinner, the issue was not resolved, which wasn't a major issue, but there was only one member of staff working the evening shift and no security on site to help, so we had to wait a short while before going up. As we walked down the corridor towards our room, there was a very strong smell of weed right by our room. When I mentioned it to the staff member letting us into our room, he commented saying he could knock on every door to see where it was coming from but it would cause more of a disturbance to other clients. He then walked off. Both myself and daughter were exhausted after a day of competing at Ponds Forge Pool, so went in. Sadly the smell of weed could be smelt quite strongly in our bathroom, so we kept the door shut but could still smell it in our room. We couldn't open the window due to the noise of the city outside. It was a frustrating end to a busy day and we felt disappointed by the lack of help of the member of staff to resolve the issue for us.
Nothing!
I noticed dust and cobwebs in the room when I checked in (I took pictures). I ignored it at first and went back to my office, got back to my hotel room around 10-11 PM, went to the bathroom to have a shower but found out the soap dispenser was empty. I went to the reception, met 3 guys there and told them there was no soap in the dispenser. While there I also politely mentioned that there was dust all over the tables and it was as if the room was not prepared for a guest. One of the guys said he's the manager and he would send someone to refill the soap dispenser but he doesn't believe my dust story. I asked him what he meant because I wouldn't make that kind of thing up. Then he asked me why didn't I report it when I checked in if it was true, so I told him I wasn't going to bother about it but thought I'd mention it while I was requesting for the soap dispenser to be refilled. I added that I'm a bit pissed because he's alleging that I'm lying. I asked for his name but he initially refused and said he does not have to give me. So I insisted before he said Graham but I didn't hear what he said so I asked him to repeat it then he chose to spelt it out in a condescending manner and also added that he could write it down for me, again in a condescending manner. He was very rude, arrogant and condescending throughout the period and showed no managerial or customer service skills. He later asked someone to follow me to my room to refill the soap dispenser and verify the dust and if I'm still not happy he would check me out and I could go find somewhere else to sleep. He said that to my face and that was around 11:30 PM. I felt humiliated because I paid to stay in that room and he spoke to me as if he was doing me a favour. I have experienced different levels of racism and I know one when I see it, but if I call this out for what it is some would say I'm using the "race card".
Lift one out of action on arrival second morning the second broke we were on floor 7 and had to climb 14 flights of stairs to get to and from our room the rooms weren’t as pictured on website which should be updated as mislead me a bit as rooms weren’t as pictured but had comfortable beds and fan supplied helped make comfortable but my wife is unwell as 2 weeks prior she had a big operation and told to take it easy for 6 weeks now she is feeling unwell due to the stress of the climbing stair
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location just outside of the city centre (about a 15 minute walk) nice views from my room.
Broken lifts (room on 7th floor) coffee stains down the wall.
It was clean and comfortable, quiet and I had a great night sleep
The lift was out of order so had to climb to the seventh floor but hey these thing happen and not the hotels fault
Great location for the city!
Twin beds touching and unable to be moved. Covers on the bases holey. Stained but clean looking carpets. Hair in shower - all ok considering cost. Not ok was the boiling hot rooms during regular summer weather and the lift being off for 3 days!! Cobwebs and dust in all stairwells which we became v familiar with due to the above!! Also staff wore no uniform so unidentifiable and unprofessional looking.
The lifts didn’t work was not informed till arrival at the hotel
Nothing they scammed me
Everything they scammed me
The bed was comfy and the fridge in the room was convenient.
The bathroom wasn't very clean. The room was very hot and they provided one fan that didn't help much.
Good location and price . Was only quick stopover but no problems.
All good
The staff The environment is neat
The fact that the day I came I have to use stairs because the lifter was bad
Comfy beds and lovely breakfast
Moldy shower curtain, looked a little drab
The hotel didnt look like it's pictures , nor was even under the same name advertised online. The room was dirty and in need of decorating, it smelt , facilities was broken, it was extremely noisey, I paid extra for breakfast that was inediable , the cheese was sour, the bacon was so over done it could break a tooth and the eggs where vile.
Cleanliness, food, decorating, fixing the rooms
The breakfast was half decent
The staff had given us someone else's room key. Really annoyed me at the time because of all the news about Travelodge giving out wrong room keys. I was with my baby. I was absolutely outraged that they tried to gaslight me out of it too.
The staff were great.
