Cotswold House Hotel and Spa - "A Bespoke Hotel"

We were not told by Booking.com nor the hotel that the spa was under refurbishment. I would have selected a different hotel which COULD provide this for our stay, having travelled hundreds of miles

The Front Desk staff were excellent ...the bedroom very comfortable with lovely linen. Most of the wait staff at the breakfast room were courteous and efficient. Had a scrumptious dinner at the nearby Italian restaurant.

As in life, some staff were better than others.

The property was beautiful just perfect as we away one night for our 30th Anniversary

Firstly, when we arrived, we went to the bar as we were meeting friends for a drink. There was no one around to serve us, and we had to ask for someone to come over and take our order. Once ordered, the drinks also took a considerable amount of time to arrive. The following morning was even more disappointing. I needed to leave the hotel at around 8:30am, so I had specifically asked what time breakfast was available and requested 7:30am to give myself plenty of time. I was advised that the earliest breakfast could be served was 8:00am, which was fair enough, and I thought 30 minutes would still be sufficient to have something to eat before leaving. Initially, we were among the first guests to arrive for breakfast, and a small selection of juice, granola and similar items was available to help ourselves to. However, it took around 10 minutes before a waitress came over to provide a menu and take our order for coffee, tea and toast. At this point, more and more guests were arriving, and 25 minutes had now passed without our coffee or toast arriving. We still hadn’t even been able to order our cooked breakfast. Given the price point of the hotel, I was particularly surprised by this. The coffee was basic filter/press coffee, so I would have expected this to be very quick to prepare and serve. Unfortunately, with the time approaching when I needed to leave, we had no choice but to abandon breakfast altogether. This was extremely disappointing, particularly given that this is not an inexpensive hotel and you would expect a much higher standard of service. The issues weren’t really about the hotel being busy; they were about a lack of organisation and attentiveness. We were given an 8:00am breakfast time knowing that we needed to leave at 8:30am, yet the service was nowhere near quick enough to make that possible. Overall, the experience fell well below what I would expect for a hotel at this price point.

The room was really clean and had all the amenities we needed. The quality of the bathroom products they had was amazing. Breakfast was really good.

We were surprised that you had to pay £10 pp to swim. This is the first time we’ve ever heard of this when staying in a spa hotel.

Traveled with our son, daughter-in-law, and 13 month old granddaughter. Cotswold House was perfect - large rooms with town views, superb staff, delicious breakfasts in lovely setting, superb dinner in atmospheric bar. Fantastic garden. Location was ideal for shopping and exploring without crowds. Can't wait to return.

This was a lovely place to stay for a couple of nights. The staff were friendly, professional and worked together as a good team which creates a comfortable environment. Breakfast was very good.

Centrally located and most places within easy reach. All the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. Gardens to relax in a plus.

Some areas needed a little TLC. Curtains in our room needed reattaching in the middle. Patio set and chairs needed attention/replacing as did the patio doors. Comprehensive Instructions on how to use lights would have been helpful. No lift if you had a room on second or third floor; need to check room allocation if you have mobility issues!

We love the location of the hotel, the grounds and the decor downstairs in the lobby and restaurant. Also the ability to park at the back is very useful but not the long haul with suitcases.

Our room was very nice apart from the HUGE leather couch / chaise longue thing that took up most of the floor space. What is that all about please? Far too big for the space and very impractical to sit on and if you should put an item of clothing on it, it just slips off onto the floor. Get rid of it. Also, the restaurant not being open on Sunday and Monday nights ( when we stayed) was a major disappointment as we were so looking forward to some some lovely meals following our previous stay. I am Gluten Intolerant and my choices are limited. When we ate at the sister hotel over the road the only thing I could choose on the menu was a curry. 😞

Our room wasn’t very big and because of the heat we had a huge air conditioning unit inside which meant we didn’t have much space to move around. Obviously the intense heat is causing a problem which isn’t the hotels fault

Beautiful cottage, very clean and quiet. The cocktails in the bar were divine!

The bar staff in the cocktail area kept disappearing when we wanted a drink, so we missed last orders.

The pumps on the soap/body cleansers in the shower did not work. We had to remove the pumps to get access to the soap.

The 1st room was not suitable bath in the middle of the room and steps down to bedroom and steps up to toilet no room to move so we asked to move .

The staff were exceptional and even though we had issues with the Air.con in the heat wave they did their best to rectify the situation.

The hotel should have mentioned the air con was not working and had to supply other units in the rooms which took up a lot of space and meant tubes being put outside windows. we had a problem with a faulty air con unit which was dealt but then kept failing after an hour. The maintenance person couldn't figure out what the fault was. I googled the machines label and fault code and had to show this to the reception team to let them know the unit was faulty. It amazed me why this wasn't done by the maintenance person, we can find out anything online but I had to find this out myself and show the error code to the reception team. Despite the problems we were given a discount off our stay which we accepted given the extreme heatwave and all the staff were helpfull and understanding.

Loved the breakfast. Meeting up with friends in Campden so didnt have any other meals.

Didnt expext the weather to be so hot in the Cotswolds.

Air con wasn't working and we weren't pre told. They had a noisy aircon / fan in the room but that you couldn't sleep with. The bathroom needed a complete overhaul. It's looking unfortunately not the plush hotel you expect. Needs some tlc

We’d booked it for a room for the night - we were at a wedding all day - came back at 12:20 hoping for a comfortable night’s sleep. Air con was broken and room temperature was an unbearable 32c - a fan had been left on in the room - but it was just pushing warm air around, so very limited sleep due to the heat. We told the concierge in the morning that he should really get it fixed or not let room out but didn’t seem very concerned - would not recommend! Just not good enough to justify the premium price

Room was quite small for the price paid. Difficult to work out how to turn on lights in bathroom on arrival but eventually sorted when staff member showed us. It was not intuitive!

Great location, great parking. Room a good size and provided all essentials: robes slippers toiletries tea and coffee. Breakfast great.

Wasnt as clean as it could have been - found a big hair on one of the toiletries bottles. Spa is only open 10-6 so if you arrive later on and check out is 11 not much time to use it. Should be open later. Phone in the room didnt work.

Fantastic location and a beautiful Georgian building with good facilities, gardens are beautiful too so take a look !

Style of building. It's beautiful. Full of character. Room overlooked the Main Street. Great bar and restaurant. Gardens are amazing. Parking at rear with three car charging points.

Basin tap gave cold or very hot water and needs replacing. No chocolate or decent coffee in tea making point in the bedroom. No lift was not an issue for us, but could be tricky for some guests.

Friendly helpful staff, welcoming atmosphere. Fabulous food in the restaurant . Very clean comfortable room.

Spa is a bit of a walk - although through the beautiful gardens-lack of cover is no good in bad weather. Spa should have a Sauna and more varied Treatment options. Currently quite limited. Hotel seemed quiet and therefore lacked atmosphere. Hotel is generally looking a bit tired and needs updating

Room at top of stairs with no lift. Tiny room. Bathroom was too small with the smallest shower I’ve ever seen without hand shower facility. Anyone bigger than us, and we’re not big, wouldn’t have fitted in the shower. Found the shower suffocating
